Yelp
Celebrated a 5 year anniversary at Kai recently. Being from SoCal, I wasn't expecting much from Dallas and appealing options were pretty limited. But I'm so glad we found this spot, the suggestions we got were great! Had nice decorations and a fun subtle club vibe going on towards the end of our night for a table further down from us, it really reminded me of some restaurant-clubs at home.
I have no complaints about the food, it was all good. Of all the wagyus I've had, this one was the fattiest and most melt-in-your mouth. I've never had wagyu with lime until now and I was pleasantly surprised with how well it went together. My boyfriend enjoyed his sea bass, the portion for the furikake fries was great, chicken truffle dumplings were plump, and the pork belly was surprisingly my favorite! A lot of times I've had thick cut pork belly, half of it is just fat. Holding the skewers were a bit sticky, but the pork belly here was more meaty, cooked so well, and came with great sauce.
For dessert, I've always wanted to try panna cotta so I had the Infinity Pond. I was a bit hesitant because I hate coconut but it wasn't overwhelming at all and this dish was just so delicious and a great "light" dessert. We also had the Mt Fuji brownie, that was also really good. Definitely a chocolate lover's delight and the strawberry sauce was so yummy and not overly sweet. It was also fun to "break" the mountain for the little volcano moment.
Drinks were so delicious too, one of the best things about this place! The SaiSei martini is truly an elevated and smoother version of an espresso martini. Presentation was so cool too because it came in a box of dry ice fog. The Zen Garden is also stunning, it was like a light cocktail that didn't even taste like alcohol, almost like a more refreshing mojito. It came on a zen garden with rocks and a bonsai tree, it was so fun to play around with and rake patterns into the sand. Lastly, the service was above and beyond! Our waiter was so knowledgeable about the options and his suggestions never disappointed. We were also given complimentary glasses of champagne for our anniversary celebration which was so kind! Overall, definitely worth the price and I would return if I'm ever in Dallas again.
