"Construction has just begun at the Legacy West development in Plano on a new Japanese restaurant I read is slated to open in late summer; Kai will be all about grilled meat and is being developed by the Lombardi Family Concepts group (whose restaurants include Bistro 31, Lounge 31, Penne Pomodoro, Taverna, and Toulouse). Chef King Dey is heading up the kitchen, and when diners step inside the 5,500-square-foot space the focal point will be an open robatayaki kitchen where meat is grilled over hot charcoal. The room is planned to feel airy with mid-century-modern interiors and two patios, and the restaurant will serve lunch and dinner (plus brunch on Sundays) while staying open late — closing at midnight Sunday through Wednesday and at 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday." - Adele Chapin
