The Best Restaurants in Woolwich and Plumstead, South East London | Eater London

"Kailash Momo’s namesake is, unsurprisingly, the main draw at this family-run Tibetan restaurant. Of the versions served, the chilli pork or steamed mutton dumplings are amongst the best, but aren’t necessarily some of the area’s finest. Pork chura, on the other hand, a stew of pork belly “boiled with blue cheese,” benefits from the way that the astringent cheese cuts through some of the dish’s spiciness, ultimately complementing the deeply savoury flavours. A must-try." - Jonathan Hatchman

Best Restaurant Delivery in South East London | Eater London

"Family-run Tibetan restaurant Kailash Momo’s namesake dumpling might get all the glory, but its rice set lunches and generous multi-dish thali sets with an assortment of meat curries, traditional lamb stews and black lentil gravy should get a look in. For those who want the plump wrapped stuff, diners can take their pick of steamed, fried or spicy momo fighters, the chilli pork and steamed mutton dumplings are amongst the best. Order online via Deliveroo and Just Eat or visit in-person for takeaway orders only, and be sure to kill two birds with one trip and take home a portion of frozen vegetable and chicken momos to save for a rainy day." - Angela Hui

Best-Value Restaurants in South East London: Cheap, But Not Cheap Eats | Eater London

"Walk from Plumstead to Woolwich to read the signs of the significant Nepali community that has built up here, in this pocket of London where the Thames grows wide. The Pashupatinath temple just off Winn’s common is the first of its kind in Europe and from here to Royal Arsenal (once a munitions factory and now an arch, a couple of pub chains, luxury riverside homes, and a farmers market) the Gurkhas who were granted housing in the area make their presence known not with kukris but with momos and soup noodles. Kailash Momo near the station is one of the busiest in the area, and the extensive menu has something for everyone, soaking up Tibetan, Nepali, Indian, and Chinese influences. The namesake momos are actually not the strongest point; better to get set lunches of “crazy” fried meats to be eaten with dried chiura (flattened rice), as well as generous thalis with adroitly spiced lamb, chickpea and lentil curries and pickled potatoes (aloo ko achar). Those in the mood for thukpa should head back down the road to Plumstead’s D Namaste, but the thenthuk is excellent, with ribbons of thick cut noodles similar to Chinese dao xiao mian all in a complex, acidic broth." - Jonathan Nunn

5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Hidden GeM 💎✨ Fabulous Flavours 😋🤤 Delicious Home Cooked Food👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Traditional Tibetan food served in a Homely manner within a stunning setting. Gorgeous looking interiors at this restaurant with golden mirrors reflecting the rich tradition of Fantastic Family recipes recreated everyday. Rare combination of Home Food at a Classy Restaurant. Absolutely loved my very first visit to dine at this restaurant and humbled by the kindness of the owners and staff to personally sit down with guests to guide & recommend the best food from an extensive menu. I'd already planned my next visit before I could leave from the first Dinner.😂😅🤣 Unassuming exterior front door signage with a simple looking entrance will transform when you step inside... It's a different world altogether and I was mesmerized by the beautifully planned interiors with such Craftsman chiseled wooden furnishings & delicately designed upholstery on the cushions. This place is a complete Vibe 💯%

Tasty, no nonsense food. Probably one of the better momos in London by a long shot. It's all very comforting and homely. The staff are usually quite friendly and helpful. Although it gets incredibly hectic over the weekend and some of the clientele aren't the most savoury. The food definitely helps make up for the atmosphere. Accessible even if quite a tight squeeze. Go for the more authentic options. The Tibetan soups are delightful.

This is the best Nepalese food I’ve had in London, and I’ve been to plenty of Nepalese restaurants—so trust me on this. The prices are very affordable, and the place has a cozy, welcoming vibe. If you’re looking for authentic Nepalese food, I highly recommend it!

It’s therapy in a bowl. Easily my favourite comfort food spot in all of London. From the first sip of broth to the last bite of hand-pulled noodles. I didn’t know Nepali food could taste this good until I landed here. I’ve started leaving little notes on tissues just to thank the chef. Because how else do you express gratitude to someone who feeds both your stomach and your soul? My guy literally has unmatched Aura.

Tibetan cuisine to the point. Somewhat different from a regular Nepali restaurant. The ambience feels just like home. The food tastes even better. Cheers to Kailash Momo for the complimentary Khapse..! 🙏🏽

Yelp
Kailash Momo: If you're in woolwich you need to go here! First off, the staff are so so so kind and accommodating, even for our large party of six, near closing time, in a packed restaurant. Furthermore, the food was delicious, especially the golguppas and chili chicken momos. Comparable to London's top restaurants, kailash momo is definitely a 5 star experience in terms of value for service and food!

Yelp
Their momos are all excellent. I particularly liked their chicken and chili chicken momos. I've yet to try their thalis but if you have a craving for a good momo, look no further!

Yelp
Loved the momos and the sauce. Could've been spicier, weird to find sweet corn in the noodles.

Yelp
First time that I have tried Tibetan food and I am not disappointed. The quality was very good and the ingredients used fresh. Lots of Tibetans were here and hence the food must be authentic. The owners know their menu and are very friendly and warm.

Yelp
Nice place to have a thali. Need one more visit to try some more dishes to have a real feel. People are good with service tips you about dish before they plate it up.
