"This Lakeview restaurant doesn’t always get as much recognition as some other noodle specialists in town, but its efforts are nevertheless deserving of praise. The ramen includes topping choices like pork belly, beef bulgogi, chicken katsu, and seafood." - Naomi Waxman

Google
Really good small ramen restaurant. Sat in here on a rainy sunday evening by myself. Very kind staff, incredible chicken katsu ramen with a rich and beautiful broth. Stylish japanese style seating and lighting. Music plays quite quietly which makes it a great place for people who are easily overwhelmed or wish to eat somewhere that music doesnt overpower their voice when they chat with a companion. The green tea i ordered came in a large and pretty cup i enjoyed sipping on, and the egg rolls i ordered to go were very crispy and delicious. I definitely would like to go back and try more of their menu soon, and hopefully with one of my ramen enjoying friends!!!

Google
Cozy and tasty little ramen spot! Menu has plenty of options with ramen and sushi for all tastes, they have multiple vegetarian options and even a vegan ramen. I had the pork belly ramen which was excellent, a savory and warm broth with the perfect mix of toppings and a generous portion of pork belly. My friend had the vegetarian gyoza ramen which was also excellent. The staff was incredibly attentive and helpful; this is an excellent local spot!

I was already halfway through my bowl before remembering to take a picture which is the first indication of the quality. It's ludicrous that this hidden gem never makes any of those "best places for ramen in chicago" lists! Their chicken gyoza ramen is my #1 favorite bowl in the city and I've eaten more ramen than most, it's my favorite food. The broth is rich and flavorful and delicious, every time (I've been here probably 10 times since I discovered it 6 months ago). It's also FAST, never had to wait more than 15 mins for my ramen. Can't recommend this place enough.

We tried every ramen restaurants in this neighborhood but this is the best! Tastes are amazing. Also waitress is so kind. Thank you!

Google
second time here and brought my cousin here for her to try. the service was so quick! kimchi fries + ramen were so delicious, definitely coming back soon <3

Google
The ramen here was fantastic (if maybe a bit 🔥 for me personally, though my heat loving companions added more!) but the flavor of the broth and the quality of the noodles definitely drove me to push past my low spice tolerance to finish the bowl! The staff were nice, prompt, and perceptive, and in general? A positive experience I'd be happy to repeat again sometime soon!

Google
The choices are great with a variety of proteins. The service is nice with big portions.

Google
Phenomenal ramen!! The broth was excellent, and if you ask for it spicy, it’s *actually* spicy. Top quality everything. I got their chicken katsu ramen, but I also had their sushi and their chicken wings—everything was excellent. Definitely one of the best ramen places in Chicago. I will be back

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite ramen spots. Service was amazing, sushi was amazing and the chicken katsu ramen topped with the spicy garlic crunch is life changing. The fried chicken filet stayed crispy even while in the broth and when paired with the fresh cilantro gave a fresh and earthy kick.. I opted for the chicken broth instead of the miso base and when I say it was some of the best broth I'd ever had, I was tempted to ask for a gallon to go. Ambiance was great, a really chill laid back vibe that was also BYOB for those into that. Definitely would recommend.

Yelp
I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon, since that's the only day during the week that they're open for lunch. This place is small and cozy and only had one table being occupied when I arrived. I was able to get seated right away, and also quickly put my order in. The workers here really very friendly and welcoming. I ordered their Pork Belly Ramen, it came out fast and very delicious. I will say that it was just a tad bit on the pricey side by a couple of dollars, but deliciousness made up for it. I guess I'd rather pay a few dollars more to get this than a few dollars less to get mediocre food. The pork belly is probably one of the best pork belly I've ever had. It was very tender, and flavorful. The broth also had a lot of flavor. The broth was thick but just wish I would have gotten some more noodles. I also ordered some fried gyoza to go and they were also pretty good. It is without a doubt of my favorite ramen spots in the city and wouldn't hesitate returning.

Yelp
To clear up any confusion this place has no affiliation with Kameya Sushi on Webster ( but per our waiter the owners are friends which is odd... ) This is a cute barebones little restaurant with about 10 tables. Chose from a variety of ramen, bim bim boop or sushi . Went with the seafood ramen and made it spicy ( they basically bring out a ton of spicy chile sauce to add to your desire ). Husband chose the tempura ramen. Both very good. Hit the spot on a gloomy cold Chicago night. Service is friendly and fast. Prices are very fair. Recommend.

Yelp
This was our first time here and I can't believe we've missed coming here sooner. We loved it! I had the Gyoza Ramen and it was great. Be sure to ask for the spicy garlic paste on the side and scoop in a couple of spoonfuls. The chicken broth was delicious! And the gyoza's were fantastic too. My bride had the vegetarian Ramen, which was heaped with plenty of fresh veggies and tofu. She asked for same chicken broth and loved it too. The service was great too. Never pushy and mellow vibe. We will be back.

Kwality T.

Yelp
My experience at Kameya Ramen & Sushi was life-changing. The Kimchi Ramen I had was bursting with flavor and incredibly filling. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and the BYOB option was a nice touch. The restaurant exudes cultural charm, making it a must-visit for any food enthusiast.

Yelp
Seafood Ramen so fresh and soup too I will go again eat different menu Try Service too very friendly

Kimberly L.

Yelp
Best food we've eaten since we got to Chicago! We were going to the Laugh Factory nearby and needed a quick bite. This place pleased even our pickier eaters! Thank you for an awesome dinner in less than an hour on a busy Saturday night!

Uyanga B.

Yelp
My favorite spot for the ramen!!! I highly recommend trying this place out. Won't disappoint

Nora M.

Yelp
The first ramen place I try in Chicago, and it's very good! I went in to place a to-go order and got my bowl quick maybe like a 5 minute wait. The food is well proportioned and tasty. The place is also friendly for solo eaters which is nice for a solo night. A very cozy ambiance.

Juliana G.

Yelp
Owner gave me free homemade almond ice cream. I think this is the best ice cream I've ever had. Been coming here since they first opened. Order the bibimbap!! So good.

Yelp
Before commencing this review, I just wanted you all to know that I have only ordered from "Kameya Ramen" for delivery because this is one of my go-to spots for ramen pregnancy cravings! I have only tried a few ramen items on the menu: chicken katsu, tempura shrimp, seafood, meatballs, and veggie. The way they packed the ramen was great: soup and the food contents were separated. Depending on the duration of delivery, the restaurant did recommend microwaving the broth for a minute or two. I would do so when it was needed. The portion was adequate. I often felt quite comfortable after consuming it without feeling stuffed. However, for many individuals, a bigger bowl of ramen could be desirable. With that being said, adding an appetizer or a sushi dish to share might be a good idea. I don't live close to the East Lakeview neighborhood, but I knew where the restaurant was located and have seen the exteriors. It looked like a cute spot to grab a quick bite if choosing to dine in. I read some reviews in regard of the taste. The overall boldness of the soup wasn't overwhelming. I also noticed that they tended to include some crunchy elements to the ramen, such as fresh cabbage, bamboo shoots, and pretty heavy on green onions/scallions. I personally loved experiencing different textures on my food yet this might not be everyone's cup of tea. My partner concurred with what I said about "Kameya Ramen" and he personally told me that I enjoyed the broth a lot. I would love to visit the brick and mortar location one of these days when I am able. After all, food always tastes the best when it's delivered straight outta kitchen, not to mention there will be less waste on containers and plastic/paper bags as well.

Peter S.

Yelp
I wish I could like this place more. I got the veggie ramen and kimchi fries to share. The fries tasted very healthy, which was not necessarily bad. Ramen however left something to be desired, as it kind of tasted like glorified Maruchan. My gf got the sushi roll which was not bad, but overall was an okay experience.

Yelp
I literally brought in a pair of boots to be repaired at a shoe repair shop next door and decided to visit this tiny Japanese restaurant because I was in the mood for ramen. I came here open minded and hopeful especially because the restaurant layout itself is extremely adorable and the seating here is quite cozy with benches so that you can recline and relax. The menu itself was quite basic and I took note that the sign on their door stated this location no longer serves sushi. The only options here were appetizers and simple ramen options. I decided to pick the Korean kimchi with chicken katsu. Within minutes a huge bowl full of broth, onions, a half of an egg kimchi, shredded cabbage, noodles and breaded chicken slices came out to me by the restaurant owner. I found the soup to be pleasant tasting but was disappointed at the lack of heaviness and lack of vegetables and chicken. I paid $16 and yet the noodles were mixed with a farfalle shaped or bow tie shaped combination that was mixed in with their thinner noodles. I was puzzled as to why the soup wasn't laden with more ingredients and as a result I actually left quite hungry. I did live in Schaumburg during covid and I guess I became accustomed to traditional mom and pop authentic ramen houses in the suburbs. Today I literally left hungry after my bowl of Ramen and honestly this is THE FIRST TIME I received a bowl of ramen that wasn't rich and heavy. I'm quite the foodie and over the years I've enjoyed many dining experiences and tasted a large variety of ramen so I think I'm a pretty good judge. Another thing that irked me though even more was a large, rowdy group of young adults came in about fifteen minutes after I was seated and they were all shouting over one another so the setting and ambiance here was no longer peaceful. I actually felt sick about 40 minutes later. Some ingredients in my ramen soup didn't agree with my sensitive stomach. I feel for the hefty price of $16 my high expectations were not met. I'm extremely picky though about ramen so perhaps my personal opinions are based on the fact that I have been privy to some of the better ramen shops I found in the suburbs. As a result of this mediocre dining experience I have no reason to return here. The soup itself was decent enough but definitely not worth the price because the broth wasn't heavy enough and the chicken portion and vegetable portion was lacking.

Yelp
The first "gourmet" ramen I ever had was at Kameya's other location on Webster in Lincoln Park, a quaint dining room with attentive servers and wonderfully delicious options. Last night, perhaps inspired by the freezing slush descending from the heavens, I decided to get takeout from this location on Belmont. It was just as great as I remembered. I'll start by complimenting the to-go packaging, which, if we've learned anything with takeout over the pandemic, can truly make or break the meal. The main ingredients (lightly breaded chicken, egg, etc) were perfectly cooked, placed neatly in a bowl, and wrapped for freshness. The broth was in a separate container, ready to be heated and poured over the aforementioned deliciousness. This was exactly what I needed last night, and will likely be a go-to for the rest of the winter!

Cameron B.

Yelp
Best ramen I've ever had, and I've tried a lot of ramen. One of the gems of Chicago. I don't want the secret to get out about this place, but they deserve the business.

Michael B.

Yelp
I am truly flabbergasted by the good reviews here. This was one of the worst experiences I have had. They brought out my food wrong. Then mocked me for not eating it correctly ( I was eating it correctly. I don't understand). And charged me extra for asking for just what I asked for. I will never come back.

Justin H.

Yelp
From what I remember this place is an average ramen shop. The tonkotsu Broth was watery and noodles thin. I like thick broth and thick noodles in my ramen. The Chasu was excellent, from what I remember but if two of the three main ingredients are lacking, then I cannot recommend this spot. $20 for glorified chicken broth and spaghetti? No thanks. The reason I give this place three stars instead of two is I do believe they heat up the bowls before serving which is a nice delight. Don't quote me on it though I've only been here once, since I didn't like the broth or noodles.

Clara S.

Yelp
Kameya is a small ramen and sushi restaurant with great music, no frills, and awesome food. It's byob and has a variety of ramen choices and sushi rolls to choose from. Service is excellent and quick. We started with the tuna tower and cheese balls upon recommendation, and both were phenomenal. The cheese balls were like a chewy fried crab Rangoon- so delicious and unique! The tuna tower was a nice ceviche type dish with amazing sauce. For our entrees, we ordered the ramen with bulgogi meatballs (another recommendation) and 911 salmon roll. The ramen was very flavorful and spicy, and the bulgogi meatballs were a nice touch. The 911 salmon roll was deliciously spicy and a good portion. We also had green tea ice cream to finish the meal, which was a nice refreshing touch! Definitely would recommend this place for ramen and sushi- a perfect casual night out in lakeview for good food!

Christina A.

Yelp
This is my favorite of the ramen restaurants around the Belmont area (Strings, Furious Spoon, and Kameya are all within a few blocks of the Belmont red line stop). The veggie ramen with the dumplings was really tasty. We also had the veggie rolls starter and they were good too. Kameya is pretty reasonably priced. It is not a fancy vibe, and the service was really quick. I can't recommend it enough for ramen in the area. Check out their specials too!

Danielle P.

Yelp
I ordered takeout sushi on my way home and it was delicious! I tried the Godzilla roll and the Cali crunch and both were outstanding. The service was friendly and they knocked out my order 5 mins early. Definitely will be coming back here to try the ramen!

Cristina R.

Yelp
This sushi was delicious. Big. Creamy. Spicy. Filling. The order was delivered in the time frame given which I appreciated. I literally can not get over how much I loved the sushi rolls!!! My hubby enjoyed the ramen. He ordered it spicy because that's how he likes his ramen and he said it hit the spot. I'll be ordering sushi from here again soon.

Asia S.

Yelp
This is hands down the BEST ramen broth I've had. So rich and flavorful. It tasted like I was eating something made with love! I ordered the Chicken Katsu ramen with chicken broth and had it delivered. Honestly, delivered ramen doesn't' always hit, but this was packed nicely and tasted amazing. I can't imagine how good it would be it I went in to eat it at Kameya. I wish I could've taken a picture before I gobbled it up. Support this place!! I will be back

Shervani P.

Yelp
I ordered the pork belly ramen for delivery and it was so good! Getting ramen delivered is usually a hit or miss with packaging and experience, but their ramen comes with the broth in its own container and it was still piping hot about 20 minutes later -- a very pleasant surprise. The broth was tasty and the pork belly was tender. The only downside is that I wish the egg was more runny instead of hard boiled, but it was still delicious. If their delivery was this good, I can't imagine how good it is to eat in the restaurant. Can't wait to try it out!

Camden B.

Yelp
Food was marvelous, service was alright but good enough , and the ambiance was also wonderful. 10/10 if I could but 5 stars is very fair. Get the rock and roll or the gyoza ramen trust me.

Neha A.

Yelp
Had a lovely meal here last night. Love that the ramen is chicken broth!! I had chicken katsu ramen which was flavorful and delicious. The katsu was so good! At $16 a bowl, the portions were appropriate and very filling. The interior of the restaurant is small but cozy and service is great. Would definitely return!

Yuko M.

Yelp
I unfortunately didn't care for my ramen :( I ordered their regular pork belly ramen with miso broth to-go. The noodles were mushy and uninteresting, the cilantro and cabbage are a weird addition, the egg was fully cooked, and the miso broth was too sweet and bland for my liking. The grilled pork belly was not bad at all, though. I wouldn't be opposed to trying their other Asian-fusion menu items--and I would update my review if I do return--but this isn't the place I would go to for a classic bowl of ramen.

Jai T.

Yelp
I truly recommend Kameya Raman. The place is clean and cozy. Staffs were there so welcoming, and the service was a wonderful and I will go back to this place for the vegetables ramen again.

Samantha L.

Yelp
I went here with my boyfriend yesterday kinda by accident and what an awesome accident it was. Every single thing we ate here was delicious and full of flavor. The lovely waitress recommended we try the tuna tower appetizer (not sure if this is the exact name) and I am not lying when I say this is honestly one of the most amazing things I've ever eaten. It was also kinda fun to eat! If you go here for anything, DO NOT MISS THIS APPETIZER! I can't remember the name of the sushi roll but you can truly taste the quality of the sushi. I can only imagine how great the rest of their sushi is. And the ramen... I don't normally dig ramen if I'm being honest but I will 100% be craving it now. The broth was so flavorful, the chicken was delicious and the noodles super yummy. I got it spicy and it was the perfect amount of spice. We ordered too much food so had ramen leftovers and it actually reheated really well! Was just as delicious the next day! I don't normally go to the lengths of writing reviews or let alone uploading pictures but this place deserves it! Do not miss this place!

Anna S.

Yelp
Pork kimchi bao was great! Good amount of juicy meat, it is not overwhelmed by the kimchi, the veggies added a good crunch, and the bao was fluffy and wonderful. The staff was also friendly :) I will have to come back to try more from the menu and have a meal here!

Caitlyn M.

Yelp
This is a new found love of mine! I'm not a big ramen fan, but this place is SO GOOD. We got the pork belly ramen and the chicken gyoza ramen. The chicken broth was the best broth I've ever had and service was so fast. 10/10 and the noodles were flavorful. The pork belly was amazing. We will be back!!!!

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
The food is amazing, one of my favorite Ramen places to eat. The service is awesome. The best Ramen and Sushi in Chicago hands down.

Chinelo O.

Yelp
I've been here a few times for ramen and it always hits the spot. Normally get the pork belly ramen (there's a reason why it's the house favorite!). Recently tried the chicken katsu ramen. It was definitely good, but the pork belly is still my favorite! So glad I found this place; I'm always looking forward to ramen and, so far, they haven't disappointed

Allison R.

Yelp
We got the shrimp shumai dumplings and some ramen! We loved both our ramens and the shumai! I got the chicken katsu ramen and it was delicious!

Franklin M.

Yelp
I enjoyed my bulgogi meatball ramen! Wish they threw in one or two more meatballs though. Will try their chicken katsu ramen next time. I like that there are korean twist options for their ramen bowls. My friend really liked their veggie gyoza ramen. Both broths were very tasty. Very nice staff. And quick service on a Friday night. I recommend this place! I also had their pork bun which was tasty. Their sushi looked good but I didn't try it. Some other review said their sushi is cheaper than other places which isn't true. Their fancier rolls were listed around 14/15 dollars but most places are around that too. So it's comparable pricing.

Sanlı A.

Yelp
The best seafood noodle soup i've had. The owner lady is amazing. She is like a radar. Every single detail she is on top of it. She is a Velvet hammer i'd say. Music is great, too Very friendly staff. Amazing amazing food. I reccomend!

Taylor J.

Yelp
This spot came up on my Uber eats with free delivery. It was grey and cold outside and ramen sounded perfect. The whole menu looks incredible and I definitely had a hard time choosing what to get. I ended up ordering the gyoza ramen. Delivery wasn't too long and was faster than the original estimated time. When the order arrived, I was super impressed to see the ramen bowl ingredients super neatly packaged and the broth on the side in a soup-like container sealed in a plastic bag. Everything was piping hot and fresh. There was also a little side of the mild garlic flavoring that I was nervous about but it was SO GOOD. I poured the broth into the bowl and enjoyed one of the best ramen bowls I've ever had. The broth here is truly something special. I definitely look forward to ordering from here again.

Millie Roo S.

Yelp
The ramen was great, and the staff was really kind and helpful. It feels good to be in a place where you are welcomed so warmly.

Franky W.

Yelp
Didnt even bread the sweet potato in my sweet potato tempura roll:( never had a sweet potato roll so soggy and disappointing in my life:(

Kaili L.

Yelp
What a great little spot! We ordered out on a Sunday evening and our order was ready maybe ten minutes after placing our order. My husband and I both got the gyoza ramen and we shared the crab Rangoon. We both got medium spice and chicken broth. The broth was delicious and the spice was perfect - a nice kick. What shocked the hell out of us was the amount of gyoza in each of our bowls; six pieces! Super generous portion. The cons: it was a pretty plain bowl when it comes to toppings. I wish corn would had been an option, or something. Also, the egg was only a half egg and it was cooked entirely through. A molten egg would have been a much better addition. There also were not a lot of noodles, I'd definitely have to order extra next time. I think I'll be back but will check out other spots around Lakeview first.

Philip A.

Yelp
I love Ramen! Since traveling to Japan and tasted the authentic ramen there I'm definitely a little picky. I must say Kameya did not disappoint at all I must say. Came in last Sunday for an early dinner with friends. We ordered the spicy chicken wings for appetizers and pork bun which was delicious, you can tell the wings were so fresh coz you can see the steam coming out when you take a bite of it. My friends ordered the Chicken Katsu ramen while I ordered the Pork Belly ramen they were all delicious and the broth taste just right and it did reminded me of the ramen place I ate in Japan called Ichiran. During this time they make sure that you're safe by providing hand sanitizers, spaced out seating, employees wore masks and masks are required prior to entry. I eat ramen all season so I'm definitely coming back

Shih C.

Yelp
After visiting my friend who lives in the area, we decided to walk to Kameya Ramen and give the business a try. Elif, one of the friendliest people I've met, greeted us at the counter. She was sweet and patient while we decide which dishes to try. The steam gyoza and spring rolls are your typical appetizers which were very good. The BBQ Pork Buns, though, let me tell you, are to die for. The buns were soft yet firm enough to hold the pork belly and toppings. It is a must try. We also had the pork belly ramen (the most popular per Elif) and bulgogi bibimbop. The ramen bowl was outstanding and very flavorful. It's no wonder that is the most popular dish. The portion of bibimbop was larger than other establishments and it was excellent. The restaurant is not fancy but the dishes are divine. It is a place I must visit again.

Jimmy H.

Yelp
We love this spot! Convenient and an easy in & out. The service is quick and very friendly. We have tried numerous ramens on the menu and were very pleased. Highly recommend the pork belly ramen.

Annie S.

Yelp
Food THE SHUMAI ARE BOMB. I've eaten quite a lot of shumai in my day, and I can say with confidence that these are the best I've ever had. Seriously, they were amazing. There were 4 and came with little shrimps on top and were pretty big. The sauce was good too, but the shumai were so delicious that I didn't want to change the taste by putting anything on it. Next time, I will only order 5 orders of these. I also ordered the Bulbolgi Bibimbap in the hot stone which came with DIY gochuchan sauce. Thank you for making it DIY- you get me! There were a ton of vegetables, but only a small portion of bulgolgi, def not enough. The stone was so hot all the rice on the bottom was burning to the bowl. It comes with a lot, so you won't leave hungry. Ambiance You order at the register and then sit down and they bring out your food. There aren't that many seats, around 5 tables and then seating at the window.

Emily W.

Yelp
We've ordered in ramen from here a few times and it's great but really the dine in experience is the best because everything is so fresh. The broth is really the winner here - slightly spicy and a bit sweet. I've had the chicken katsu ramen and the pork belly and they've both been great. The fried chicken gyoza was good but not amazing. This is definitely our fav local ramen joint in Lincoln park / lake view.

Jenni W.

Yelp
This is my favorite ramen place in Lakeview! I get the chicken gyoza ramen bowl and it's so good. It comes with chicken dumplings and they are so good with the chicken broth. The bowl is simple but great. I hope to come back and try other things!!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Totally underrated ramen spot! I'm a huge ramen fan and have tried a bunch of the "bigger name" ramen spots in the city and can't believe I didn't go here sooner. I got their chicken meatball ramen for delivery and everything was well packaged and still hot when it arrived. The chicken meatballs were super tender and a unique topping that you don't see in many places. The broth was rich and flavorful which was a surprise since chicken based broths tend to be a little bland. Can't wait to go back and try their other bowls!

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Love their food! Ramen is super flavorful and delicious- even for take out or delivery! Customer service is always on point as well!

Elise K.

Yelp
I finally found my perfect Gluten Free ramen spot!! I'm a big fan of Kameya Sushi on Webster so I had high hopes for this location and it did not disappoint. I will return again and again! Perfect meal for rainy days.

Ryan B.

Yelp
I'm baffled by all the good reviews. We just got ramen from here and it was probably the worst ramen I've ever had.

Scott S.

Yelp
This is one of those shaking your head and asking how does this individual has a job moment? Manager's unacceptable attitude. We just left this restaurant and we are still shaking our heads bewildered by the arrogant, righteous, young female manager. My husband and I were eating ramen. He spilled half his bowl on the table. I went to the counter and explained the spill and asked for napkins. She said one moment as she was at the register. I said I really need them now it running on his lap. She handed me 2 napkins. When I returned back to her I stated I needed lots more because it was all over the table. She threw her hand up keeping me from grabbing napkins then told me to wait. I said I couldn't wait I needed them now. I responded that it's just napkins. She came over to the table and said that it wasn't about the napkins it was about Grace and Respect. I again explained as we cleaned up the table we weren't being disrespectful...we needed to not be covered in ramen. Here's where it gets crazy. As we checked out, not a word from her until I asked was she the owner? She responded she was the manager. I said, well you just lost two loyal and supportive customers. Then the elderly owner stepped aghast at what we were saying. Again the manager repeated...it was about learning grace and respect. No apology or explanation why she is acting this way...just a smug attitude. Do yourself a favor and spend your money at a ramen shop that truly values its customers and understands we don't owe you...you need to be appreciative that we kept you in business.
