Where To Eat The Best Ramen In London - London - The Infatuation

"Kanada-Ya makes consistently excellent bowls of tonkotsu ramen. They've got spots around central and north London—with the Covent Garden one being our go-to—but there's still always a line outside any of their Japanese ramen shops (even in the cold), and it’s absolutely worth the wait. There’s not a whole lot for vegetarians, so don’t bring them with the hope that there’ll be plenty of veg stock or tofu options. Do go for a casual, no-reservations spot where the atmosphere is full of the sounds of conversation and people slurping noodles." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, daisy meager

Where To Eat When You’re Shopping In Covent Garden - London - The Infatuation

"Ramen is our favourite thing to eat when we’re cold, our favourite thing to eat when we’re sick, and for full disclosure, our favourite thing to sob into when the world has been incredibly cruel (read as: our train was four minutes delayed). It also happens to be one of the best things you can eat when you’re out shopping and need a quick and delicious power lunch. The place to do that in Covent Garden is Kanada-Ya. This Japanese mini-chain tends to always have a queue of students outside patiently waiting for a round of pork gyoza and tonkotsu, but you can queue virtually using this app. Plus, seeing as their big comforting bowls of noodles start around the tenner mark, any wait is worth it." - heidi lauth beasley

London’s Best Ramen | Where to Eat Tonkotsu and Shoyu Ramen Noodles | Eater London

"The first Kanada-Ya set up shop in Fukuoka 10 years ago and now queues for all three London branches reach down the street. Kanada-san’s special 18-hour pork broth works particularly well in his truffle ramen which comes with chashu pork collar, spring onions, porcini truffle paste, white truffle oil, and seaweed. Kanada-Ya asks diners to choose their texture of their noodles, with ‘hard’ being recommended, and it’s always tempting to zhoosh said noodles more than necessary with the addictive takana (pickled mustard leaves) on every table." - MiMi Aye

Kanada-Ya Review - Covent Garden - London - The Infatuation

"Kanada-Ya makes the most consistently excellent bowl of tonkotsu ramen anywhere in London. They've got four spots around central and north London now, but there's still always a line of students from Hong Kong and Japan outside any of their shops (even in the cold—usually a good sign), but it’s absolutely worth the wait. With the totally reasonable prices (just over a tenner for the basic bowl of noodles), it’s a good deal. There’s not a whole lot for vegetarians, so don’t bring them with the hope that there’ll be a veg stock or tofu option. Do go for a casual, no-reservations spot where the atmosphere is full of the sounds of conversation and people slurping noodles. Expect not to linger, but to leave happy." - David Paw

I’ve been a regular at Kanada-Ya since 2016, and it remains, without question, my favourite spot for authentic Japanese ramen in London. Year after year, the quality has stayed true — a rare thing — and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. The pork bone broth is exceptional, possibly the best I’ve had in the city. Rich, deep in flavour, and balanced perfectly with springy noodles and fresh, carefully prepared toppings. It’s the kind of ramen you’d expect to find in Japan, and Kanada-Ya delivers it every single time. While ramen is the clear highlight, the menu has expanded over the years to include comforting onigiri, noodle dishes, and Japanese curry — all maintaining the same high standards. There’s also a small, well-curated list of Japanese drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, that pair nicely with the food. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly, efficient staff who make every visit easy and enjoyable. One detail I especially appreciate: there’s no background music. Whether you want to have a quiet conversation or simply focus on your meal, the space allows you to do just that.

Google
In our opinion, the ramen is overpriced considering the portion and taste. The portion is small, and we still felt quite hungry after finishing our dishes. We’ve tried Kanada-Ya in different countries, including Japan, but the ramen here is extremely salty. Both my friend and I had to drink a lot of water afterward. That said, the Kinoko Karaage Yuzu was tasty — perfectly fried. The service is amazing; all the staff members are polite.

Google
Really nice and tasty Ramen and great, authentic Japanese curry! Absolutely enjoyed the matcha cake as well! The location is a bit squishy though and I wouldn’t recommend the Onigiri, as they were pretty dry and fell apart sadly.

If you’re looking for the best ramen in London, this is the place, no need to keep searching. The ramen is absolutely delicious, with perfectly balanced flavours. My favourite is the Cha Mori, the pork is incredibly tasty.

Google
Kanada-Ya is a small ramen shop nestled in the bustling city of London. There aren’t too many seats in this little shop, making it quite crowded. However, the food is really good and there is wifi available! I like that they digitalized their ordering methods because of the shop’s limited space. Lots of vegetarian options available as well. Their serving sizes tend to stray on the smaller, but don’t worry— you can always add extra noodles!

During our short London visit (just 3 days), we visited Kanada-Ya twice! (yes, that is how much we loved it)! We initially visited the Piccadilly branch at 3 Panton street (because it accepts reservations) and on out last day, we visited the branch located at 64 St Giles High St, at 4pm (walk-ins) and we were immediately accomodated without any waiting! Here I ate, hands down, the most amazing fried chicken and ramen of my life! Period! Highly recommended if you are in London. Not to be missed!

Google
A cozy ramen shop near Tottenham Court Road that’s definitely worth a visit. I recommend trying the Gekikara if you love spicy flavors—it’s packed with heat and full of rich, savory taste. The broth is flavorful, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the staff are friendly. A great spot for a satisfying meal!

Google
There was a small queue outside, but we got inside in around 5 minutes. Frustratingly, the wait from order to us getting food was over 20 minutes. I started watching the kitchen to see how long food was taking to come out. In 8 minutes only a small portion of karage was served. The waiting staff apologised for the wait. The queue outside had grown massive, which made me chuckle internally (these guys were never going to get food any time soon). Eventually it arrived. The pork was mostly fat and not great quality. The broth was good, and I enjoyed the egg. The ginger lemonade was really nice. The staff were polite. All in all, the long wait was disappointing and the poor quality pork doesn't justify the price mark. We paid just above £50 for two bowls of ramen and two drinks. It could have been better.

Yelp
I had the cha mori ramen and matcha fondant. Both were amazing!! - cha mori ramen: I loved the thin noodles. They were nice and springy. The broth was flavorful and not too salty or oily. The minced pork was okay so next time I'll prob just get the tonkatsu. - molten matcha: the bite melts in your mouth, was pure heaven

Yelp
We needed a casual place to have our final dinner that did not require a reservation. We arrived around 7:00 pm on a Sunday night and only had to wait about 5 minutes. The place is pretty small with only a few tables and booth areas. It fills up quick and you eat next to strangers. The ramen and broth were really good. The gyoza not so much. I had my ramen which was a collaboration with a brewery and served with a specific beer. Unfortunately, this was not my first choice as they weee out of specific ramen or paste but it was quite good. They had us pay on our phone which was nice. A quick bite to eat but I highly recommend.

Yelp
We were just looking for a good ramen place and found this place. It's a very cute restaurant, small but decorated well. It reminds me of a small ramen place in Japan. The service was great, staff were very friendly. I loved it because you get to custom make your ramen from the type of cook of the noodle to everything in it. Our ramen was absolutely delicious and worth it. I'd come back if we ever go back to London.
google avatar

Theerawat K.

Yelp
The ramen was awesome with plenty of pork shashu. The egg was very good too. But the waiters were too few. Gyoza was amazing. I loved it.

Matthew T.

Yelp
Great Ramen - I had the spicy pork one. Was a pleasant amount of spice, not intense. And they have a tasty selection of imported yuzu drinks and beer - both that I had were really good.

Yelp
I visited this ramen place after seeing a high reviews but left disappointed. The place is very small, cafeteria seating , and you get on the waitlist when you arrive. It turns around fast so not much a wait. I had the tonkotsu x, they use the thin noodle which is ok but the broth is very blend. There's not much topping just couple very thin sliced pork belly not the Japanese style Chashu, and some black fungus and scallion, you can pick one of the three toppings ( sesame seeds, pickles or seaweed) for free. But overall the flavor was lacking and little topping really not worth the money. After having visited Japan this is such a let down.

Yelp
I am definitely a Ramen fiend, but Kanada-Ya fell short of what I consider to be delicious Ramen joint. I had asked a few locals for a good spot in downtown London and they had recommended this establishment, which was a short jaunt from my hotel. It is quite small and likely will have a wait time, which is fine and to be honest what I expect at most Ramen restaurants. I was lucky enough to find it relatively quiet the night I visited, so I was able to be seated right away. Menu is straight forward as it's solely focused on Ramen. I opted for the Spicy Pork Ramen, which looked delicious based on the ingredients. Sadly it did not deliver as it was a tad bland for my tastebuds. I am not saying it was bad, but not as bold as I am used to in the states. Outside of the flavor profile, the quantity was plentiful and the price point on par to what I'd expect in a big city, so no complaints there. While not a top spot, if you need a fixing, it may likely suffice.

Yelp
This cute little ramen shop is a gem. It is located right across the street from Ippudo (another famous chain ramen shop). I have to say they upped the game of ramen and is in contention for beating Ippudo. There's a short line when we got there, but we were able to sat down at their outdoor table within 10 minutes. Ramen and gyoza both meet my expectations. I would definitely recommend this to people who want to grab a quick but tasty meal in the area.
google avatar

Kendra G.

Yelp
Service is fast. Food is really good. Great option for a cold day. I ordered the hot paste for the side, but I dont think it was worth it. Yet, the Ramen was delicious.
google avatar

Ried S.

Yelp
Popped in for a quick bite. Had a to wait maybe 15 minutes to get a seat, they don't do tables, only bench tables so when a seat opens you take it. Reviews were very promising but I didn't find the food really good. It was just "meh" ramen. Servers were very pleasant and were quick to clear spaces, so for someone with a tight schedule this place can work well for them. But for any ramen heads out there, you may leave disappointed.

Yelp
Overall rating: 4/5 Wait: 4/5 Arrival time: Monday 5pm Food: 4.5/5 Order: tonkatsu x Service: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Worth it, would come back

Yelp
Ramen was okay. Friendly staff and fast service. Expect tight space with small tables. After all it's in London.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was okay. Place is too small and very close to each other. Service was good. Nothing much to say since food was just okay maybe its just me dont take it personally when you read the review because the ramen is not my liking. You can give it a try and see whether its worth your money or not because ramen might be bias. Try it!

Yelp
Food was amazing I had the and the service was good. But the ambiance was good I wish they had more seating though.

Yelp
While walking to visit the British Museum, we knew we had to eat an early dinner because the kids were getting tired. We looked around online and saw Kanada-Ya close by. Because the weather was a little chilly, we figured a nice bowl of ramen would hit the spot. While walking, we also saw Ippudo across the street. We love Ippudo, but we can get that back in the Bay Area. Would that come back to haunt us? Read on. Because we came early, we were able to snag the last table. Good thing, too, because the waitlist grew really big just a few minutes after. The inside is pretty small with only a handful of tables. After looking over the menu, most of the table went with the safe Tonkotsu, while I went with the Spicy Yuzu. We also got an order of gyoza and a chashu bowl to round out the meal. Everything came out quickly, except for the gyoza, which we had to ask for again. I'll start off with my Spicy Yuzu. You could really taste the Yuzu, which for some ramen purists, might be a little off-putting. For me, I like a little bit of contrasting flavors when it comes to my meals. However, for some reason, it just didn't blend together, in my opinion. The Tonkotsu didn't seem much better as the broth wasn't as flavorful as other places I've had. The broth is the star of the show, so this was a letdown. The chashu was not tender either. The noodles were cooked to hard, which was what we asked for. But, without a good broth, what does it matter? The service here was above average. Excellent greeting and friendliness. And, they checked in with us a few times. When we left, they acknowledged us, as well. But, I did have to flag them down for our gyoza and more water. Judging by all the rave reviews, we might be in the minority here. All I know is I've had better ramen elsewhere with the likes of Ippudo, Santouka, and Ramen Nagi.
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
I was actually on my way to have ramen at Ippudo when I saw a line forming outside the ramen restaurant across the street. Lines aren't usually wrong! I joined the back of the line for opening time at Kanada-Ya and made first seating. The ramen came out super fast and the broth was packed with flavor. The egg was golden yellow and nicely cooked, still soft boiled. I only wish they had provided a whole egg versus half. Chose regular noodle firmness and they were cooked accurately to my liking. I recommend stopping by this Covent Garden location if you're craving a good bowl of noodles.
google avatar

Peggy X.

Yelp
This is the best ramen I've found in London! I've been here a few times now: the line can get quite long, but during weekdays and off-peak hours, I've never had to wait for more than ~20 minutes. The interior of the restaurant is small, so don't be surprised if you end up sharing a table with other diners. The service is fast enough that you can be in and out of there in thirty minutes or less, depending on how quickly you eat. As for the food: I'd recommend the Tonkotsu X if it's your first time, just because it's a classic, but you can't go wrong! I've been ordering the truffle the last few times I've been just because (1) I'm a sucker for anything with truffle and (2) they do it very well -- fragrant and decisively truffle-y without being overpowering. The broth is delicious too.

Yelp
Took a last minute solo trip to London (summer 2019) and did no planning! Did a quick search on Yelp and came across Kannada-Ya; the reviews seemed promising so I decided to pay them a visit. This establishment is relatively small but service was really efficient - wait time wasn't bad at all when I arrived. The perfect atmosphere for solo guests. I'm always nervous eating alone but trust me this place was built to accommodate it. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE SERVICE. Normally, average service is all I'd ever expect. However, the staff here went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. When someone noticed I was trying to Shazam a song that was playing (the music they play is pretty great), he went to the back to get the track for me. That was so nice! I wanted to tip them more but they told me standard tip is already included (which wasn't a lot imo). What I ordered: Tonkotsu X (£10.90 during my visit): Honestly one of the best ramens I've ever had. The broth was flavorful and smooth. The condiments complimented the whole experience. I picked this ramen bc its "exclusive to London" and I honestly didn't know when I'd come back. Definitely recommend. Overall, very happy with my whole experience. I will definitely pay them another visit when I get the chance to return to London.
google avatar

Rina B.

Yelp
Really wanted to give a good review as the staff was super nice but the food was just plain bad. The ramen was cold, the egg was cold and the gyoza was burnt. Not sure if it is because it was a bad night but would not go again and would tell people to avoid this location at the very least. So sorry - for me and the owners - they can do so much better.
google avatar

Lucas W.

Yelp
Superb ramen. The broth is somehow light but also full of flavour. I got the spicy one and it was actually rather hot, not overly so but a good spice. There was a ton of filling in the ramen as well, plenty of different vegetables and a decent amount of noodles. Service was surprisingly quick given it was a bit busy - it's a small spot but worth the wait if there's a line. Definitely returning
google avatar

Mercy H.

Yelp
I have a satisfying dinner with my family when the weather is too cold and you need bowl of good ramen. We waited around 15 min sitting by the bench with top heater. Appreciated the small gesture to keep hungry tummy and waiting process bearable. I ordered Gekikara with spicy minced pork on side ( so the soup wont be too spicy). I ordered a set of Hanjuku egg. Hanjuku eggs was marinated differently, makes the yolks a bit sweeter than savory. Good job! The venue is super tight and spots insensitive customers stayed too long. The staffs need to be a bit bolder to notify that kind of customer, problem to turn over the tables. I can imagine they might lose customers. I definetely will come again! You should try!!!
google avatar

Olivia P.

Yelp
grabbed a quick lunch here, before having to meet some friends and the ramen was amazing. it's a tight squeeze but the service is fast and hospitable. you won't be waiting long to get delicious hot ramen.

Yelp
Dubbed one of London's top ramen shops, I can only think of one word to describe Kanada-Ya: underwhelming. Perhaps it is London's pre-eminent ramen shop with lines flying out the door. Across, you'll find Ippudo, a world-renowned ramen chain that has hours-long waits in its NYC shops, sitting slightly emptier. Has Kanada-Ya taken the throne away from them in London? Maybe. I waited about 15 minutes on a Tuesday night. It is a very small, quaint corner restaurant that can fit less than 40 people. As I was approaching the from across the street, I could already smell the heavy truffle aroma from their popular Truffle Ramen from the swinging door. The patrons leaving, too, smelled like truffles as they dashed past me. Being a truffle fanatic, I was so pumped for the Truffle Ramen. I'm no ramen expert but this was far from the best ramen I've ever had. You might like this if you like light broths, but it's not creamy at all. The truffle oil felt more like it was there for the smell, and maybe some flavor. The pork was a bit on the dry side and took me awhile to get through. For the most expensive ramen on the menu (£14), I wish they'd included a Hanjuku egg or something because it felt...plain. Kanada-Ya is definitely overhyped. I can't speak for Ippudo in London, but I try to avoid it altogether like a plague since it's overhyped in NYC. London doesn't seem to have a very competitive ramen scene and that's sorta sad, given how many trendy Japanese restaurants there are in the area, I might as well have just gone to Japan Centre.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Simply delicious but a bit expensive. The restaurant is a bit small so make sure to come early if you plan on having lunch with a few friends. Now onto the food! Cha Su Don - 2.5/5 - lacked flavor and was pretty basic. Nothing special, would pass and try the gyro a next time. Truffle ramen - 4/5 - I've never had truffle ramen before but it was good! My only feedback is that the broth is a bit light (maybe to accentuate the truffle flavor) and the noodles were a bit too thin for my liking. Overall a decent ramen place to check out if you are craving noodles!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
From the reviews, best ramen in London. Not surprised as it was quite good. First off, it is a small place and they don't take reservations. Be prepared to wait in line (no wait list to sign up). There's a bench outside and they provide small cups of tea sometimes while you wait. The turnover is quite fast so don't be too intimated by the amount of people. The food comes out ridiculously fast. I got the only in London ramen and my husband got the truffle. The ramen is pretty bare bones in terms of toppings. If you want anything like an egg or garlic oil it's extra. You can pick your noodle toughness which is nice. Portion is just right so you can order something else. The broth is really thick and flavorful. I personally enjoyed the charsu and I normally don't. Karaage was pretty good. 4 pounds for three decent sized pieces. Nice crispy outside and good sauce. Not the best I've had but it was pretty good. If I was a local I would come back but not often given how expensive it is.

Yelp
10-14-2017 Very authentic Japanese restaurant even though the name sounds like Canada. The chef's last name is Kannada and I think that is why the restaurant is called Kanada Ya which means Kanada's eatery based upon my very limited knowledge of Japanese and Google. We had ramen of course and had some fried chicken which is much more superb than Kentucky fried chicken in a bucket. Fried chickens are more like tiny chicken fingers fried to perfection and the meat inside is seasoned perfectly and also served with some type of delicious aioli. There is a long wait to get in but it is not too painful and we thought it was worth the wait especially if you are new to London and we get busy soaking up all the new scenes around you so the wait doesn't bother you too much and it is actually enjoyable. However, I would not head that way if you are already hungry and need to eat within the hour because it could be Russian roulette for your hungry belly! You may or may not get the food in time! The fried chicken here has been the standard of all the Karage my husband compares to. Oh, this karaage is just as good as Kanada Ya. Oh, Kanada Ya karaage was better! And, so on and so forth.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly, I was quite blown away with this ramen. Having had the pleasure to live in LA and NY, I am pretty spoiled with my ramen so I was happily surprised to have a bowl of deliciousness in front of me! I ordered the Spicy Yuzu and was impressed that the broth actually had a good kick to it. In addition, I ordered my noodles "hard" and can report that they indeed were perfectly al dente. I also very much appreciated that there was the option to choose how well done you wanted your noodles. Although the portion looks small, it was more than enough to fill my hungry belly. In addition, there was ginger and some sort of pickled vegetable at the table which is a nice touch. We got to the restaurant 30 min after opening and were seated right away, but noticed that we had just missed the large crowd. It is a pretty small restaurant, so be ready to wait if you get unlucky! In addition, it is a shared table restaurant so get comfy! Definitely recommend if you're craving a nice bowl of ramen!

Yelp
Big Question: Is it Kanada-Ya or Kanada YASSSSSSSSSSSS??? YASSS to their Tonkotsu X Ramen. It's classic and the broth is super flavorful. YASSS to their Truffle Ramen. The truffle flavor is very potent, but the broth itself is very light and balanced. It might be very empowering to some people. YASSS to the Karaage. It's only 5 pieces but it's very juicy. You definitely could share this with another person, but it is a small portion. Besides these highlights, there are some flaws to this ramen place. Since it is very small, there is very limited seating, so if you have a group of 4, you might have to wait a little longer. Also, there is usually a queue especially during dinner time so be prepared to wait 45 min. to an hour. In the past few times I have been, the staff was really weird about seating and service. My table of four was told we can sit already, but then the server realized the table wasn't ready and told us a few times to move to different areas in the restaurant. It was very weird. Additionally, there is an automatic service charge. The service was very limited and when we asked about it, they said it's already included. I would suggest that they state this more explicitly in their menus. Overall, this is a reliable ramen place and I still go here, but there are some flaws that give a bitter taste to my experience at times.

Yelp
Excellent service best ramen in London fried rice and karaage delicious luckily we did t have to stay in line at all

Candice L.

Yelp
We got to try this place yesterday. Line was pretty long because they had "slow service" posted on their door, but the line moved so fast. I wasn't hungry so I ordered the chicken karaage and husband got the spicy yuzu. Ramen came in less than a minute. I tried his a bit and it was good, husband craved for it the next day. The karaage is also good and light. It was so fresh and the yuzu mayo is a good unique combo.
google avatar

Diane H.

Yelp
I got here wicked early and even 7 years later this place is still pretty yummy. You have to wait in line outside so get here before it opens so you are the first round of diners. Inside isn't too big and if you don't want to wait you can also just go across the street. I'd come again but not if the line is too long .... it's good but comparable to ippudo.
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
This place is wonderful for solo diners! I am really glad that I sought this place out on my travels. VERY small, don't bring a group. The broth was so smooth and spicy, noodles cooked to perfection. Kanada-Ya is a great choice for a quick dinner!

Ed L.

Yelp
It was very average. The char siu pieces that came with the ramen were extremely thin, and broth was just ok. Portions were a bit small for the price and still felt a bit hungry after the meal. Seating were packed, food court style and not much privacy between you and other guests.
google avatar

Yelp
Quite a delicious ramen place. From the reviews, I guess this must be one of the best ramen houses in London. I've been to ramen places around the world from Tokyo to San Francisco, Kanada-Ya is probably somewhere in the middle on my list of great ramen places (still pretty good!) The seating inside is quite tight but that's pretty typical of ramen places. The broth they use is a classic and you can tell that they brew it for over 10 hours with pork. I absolutely love this style of heavy broth, it gives the ramen a richness that is quite unique compared to other styles of noodles. The chasu is decent but nothing that floored me. All in all, a decent place for a bowl noodles. It is quite expensive but that's expected in the heart of London. If you need ramen in London, this is probably the place to be (as evidenced by the rave reviews and long lines).

Yelp
Can we get some noodle armsss GIFs? Kanada-Ya is a really cute place. The interior is casual with tables quite close to each other so a very snug/cozy eating experience. There is nothing like a hot bowl of ramen on a rainy day - which is precisely the weather the day I went. My friends and I each got a bowl of the v. popular Truffle Ramen (£14). You can choose the noodle toughness. Though, the dish itself only includes pork slices, spring onions, and nori. Other toppings like a soft boiled egg are extras. The ramen itself was pretty good. And, the VIP of the show: the truffle oil? It was very aromatic. For me, the highlight was actually the pork which was really tender and flavorful. And if you are a fan of that thicc 20 hour simmered broth? This truffle ramen broth was definitely on the light side. Overall, it was a pretty good place in London for ramen. Other housekeeping notes: There usually a wait outside because of the aforementioned cozy interior. The staff provide you with a laminated menu for you during the wait. The good news is that the ramen is typically delivered quite quickly after you place your order.

Yelp
It's kinda sad if this is the best ramen that London has to offer. I got their classic Tonkotsu X which was very very plain. The noodles were too thin and the broth didn't quite any punch. I should've ordered an egg to go with it, but the side black garlic sauce was a good choice.

Yelp
The crowd was out the door upon my arrival. So I was expecting some really good ramen. People in line seemed to be pleasant as we shared menus while waiting. I ordered the tonkotsu with black garlic and spicy miso. The miso added a needed kick. It could be that I'm use to some really thick and rich tonkotsu broth, but I think this one was playing it a bit safe. It was good, but not great. The garlic wasn't strong enough and the rich broth was needing some more porky goodness. Don't get me wrong, being in a pinch, and being far from home, I would eat here again, as it is comfort food and it was overall an excellent meal. I really enjoyed their chicken karage as it was nice and moist with good flavor. Plus being hungry and being able to choose how you want your noodles, really made for a custom order. So I would recommend trying it, if your feeling like some ramen. Note that this isn't a very large place, so seating is very limited. Enjoy

Yelp
This place is usually my go to place for Ramen. It's THE place for ramen in London. There are only 3 branches in london, with 2 in central (Picadilly and Covent Garden). There has always been an unending queue outside but the wait is usually worth it (I even have a points card foe this place!) Today, however, the Tonkotsu X wasn't as tasty as it usually is. The order came in less than 3 minutes within our order time, so the freshness of it was quite questionable. I usually just get the ramen when i go here, but decided to try the Onigiri - Sake (salmon). Something new. Something i regret i ordered. Sad to say that the Onigiri was disappointing. There was no flavour at all. Yes, it looks nice on the photo but it's taste was bland. The 4 stars aren't 3 because of the previous times it had satisfied my ramen craving. But today wasn't that day.

Yelp
Kanada-Ya was recommended as a top-notch ramen restaurant in central London, but unfortunately it didn't quite hit the mark. I got the Tonkotsu X, which was plain and unremarkable, with noodles a bit thinner than I'd normally prefer, and nothing special about the flavor, the broth, or the toppings. The dining set-up is diner-style without much in the way of privacy or comfort. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt at least. It seems to get busy on weekends, so come at a less popular time or be prepared to wait. Overall just ok, and certainly not one of the best ramens I've had.

Yelp
Five stars for a fantastic little ramen shop! We came on a Sunday around two pm and waited just a few minutes, and then we were escorted inside to a cute little ramen spot, with no more than 15 seats in the whole place. There's several workers there, so service is fast and efficient. They have a jug of water on the tables but you can order hot teas and other beverages as well. Unfortunately they were out of the Gyoza so we were not able to try those, but we started with the chicken karate, which was delicately fried and very flavorful. I had the spicy yuzo ramen which definitely had a delicious kick to it, and my partner had the traditional tongatsu, which had a delicious creamy broth. Ordering the noodles hard is the right way to go.

Yelp
In our recent visit, we ordered Gekikara, Tonkotsu and Karaage. Karaage was OK but wasn't the normal standard. The noodles in both Ramens were starchy - sure sign of not shaking off the water properly - and overcooked. However the toppings on Gekikara were faultless and the soup was flavourful. Tonkotsu stock was more lardy and porky than usual. I hope they will tweak these as soon as possible. The service was very polite and friendly.

Yelp
I gotta say. I was kind of disappointed with the ramen here. Maybe it's my picky New York tongue, but I expected better out of supposedly London's best ramen restaurant. I got the Tonkotsu and the char siu don. The Tonkotsu broth was good. It salt level wasn't too high, and it certainly packed a punch! However, the noodles certainly let the meal down. It lacked that special pizzaz that great ramen-yas have. The two redeeming factors were the meat and the char siu don. The meat was absolutely amazing; so soft like I was eating clouds. It was juicy and OMG my mouth is now watering just thinking about it. The char siu don (using the same meat) was equally as good. As weird as this sounds, if I go back in the future, it would definitely be to just crush three of those char siu dons.

Yelp
I got the soba noodles and they were very salty! The fried chicken took forever to come out. My friends loved the ramen though. Service was ehhhh- not that great.

Yelp
The first thing I always note when eating ramen is the broth. The Tonkotsu X had firm noodles, tasty toppings, and an addicting broth. Only problem: since when did ramen places charge extra for a boiled egg?

Yelp
Very good ramen and queuing is worth it, doesn't take too long anyways. Chose the Tonkatsu with black garlic oil, which had to pay extra for. Also had the chicken karaage, which was very crunchy on the outside and chicken was moist. Highly recommend! Overall delicious taste. I would've given it five stars but only four stars as had to pay extra for the black garlic oil as well as a portion of the eggs on my bowl of ramen. I would go back, but not quite in a hurry.

Yelp
Small space with delicious ramen. The cha siu was dry for my tastes but the broth was perfect for a rainy day! The noodles are also cooked to a tender perfection. Note that for the long table they prefer groups of two to sit next to each other instead of across.

Yelp
Kanadaya does the best ramen in the UK! Try avoid 1-2pm or 7-8.30pm slot as you will most likely be queuing for their seats. Early lunch like 12.30pm or early dinner at around 6.30pm are always good time slots with no queues. Even though their speciality is added truffle oil, I find the truffle oil smell a bit too thick and strong in noodle soup or with the edamame beans. My favourite dish is their Tonkatsu x with 'hard' noodles (yes, you can customise your noodle!). No matter how many times I dine at Kanadaya, I can't get enough of their noodles and I will always be back!

Yelp
Great ramen option in London. We were swayed by seeing the line when we were initially planning to go to Ippudo across the street. The line moves pretty fast. Be ready with what you want to order before you get inside. You could always grab a beer at the convenience store next store and have it while you wait. Ordered the spicy yuzu which actually had a good amount of heat with the soft boiled egg which you must add to any ramen you get. I would even budget more stomach room for more eggs! Also ordered the chasu with garlic oil and egg. Both were amazing with hard noodles. The noodles are thinner than most ramen places. The chicken katsu was the perfect amount of salty and crunchy. Definitely filled my ramen craving. Also pretty large portions so be sure to budget stomach room.

Yelp
Hands down, best ramen in London. Better than ippudo or shoryu. The broth is the real deal. Love the thin ramen noodles. The different flavors you get with tonkotsu x, yuzu and gekikara broths are so satisfying in their own ways. Tonkotsu x has a nice creamy taste and not too rich like some other places. I was able to finish the broth. Yuzu has that extra kick in it with a slight citrus (note: not lemon or lime.) More of a tart, pepper zesty taste. It cuts through the richness of the tonkotsu broth. Perfect for me. My fiancé had the gekikara and wow. The minced beef adds a deeper taste of beef to the broth. I think I have to get it the next time I go. I was able to come here twice on my trip. First time I had tonkotsu x and fiancé had yuzu. Second time I had yuzu and he had gekikara. Next time I'll have gekikara and he will have..??? :) probably spicy miso! Also I'm usually not a fan of chicken karaage. Actually I don't like it at all. BUT I tried it and it is better than most other ones I've tried. Not oily and very crunchy. Their onigiri also comes out hot! Very homey in the winter time.
