Google
This is my new favorite! Such tasty food, and very personable proprietors. Although it's counter service, each time I've visited they've come out to see how things are . I've visited for a small bite, as well as a larger meal. I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish the larger meal, but it was so tasty and light, there was no problem. I highly recommend the tea with the pine nuts, served hot... it's one-of-a-kind delicious!

Google
An unforgettable dining experience. The food is exceptional : beautifully crafted with bold, balanced flavors. The owners are warm, welcoming, and passionate, making every guest feel at home. A must-visit for outstanding Algerian healthy food and genuine hospitality! Ps : Don’t skip the dessert : we had the best Baklava in the world ! And the mint tea is a must have

Google
Five five five five five stars! I have no excuse for not eating enough vegetables as i should be.. so when I see places that offer visually mouth watering veggie forward dishes, I have to try. I had the vegan Earthly Eats Bowl and it was heavenly and healthy. I would get this again and again, but I should also try their other items. The husband owner was kind and friendly as well!

Seriously delicious!! Healthy, flavorful and ample portion! I’ve never had Algerian food before and loved it. The chicken Dajaj Paradise bowl was so good, can’t wait to try more things. Lovely atmosphere at the Saluhall food hall

Such kind owners! Husband and wife team that exceeded our expectations for a work dinner. They are so considerate and explained every dish thoroughly, paying attention to our dietary needs and allergies. Outstanding cuisine! Clearly made with love and care. Amazing flavor with spicy harissa on the side! Will definitely return.

If you have the chance to visit the new IKEA and the food court you MUST try KAYMA. The food was AMAZING. The staff were so helpful in assisting me with deciding on my options and explaining in detail what each dish consisted of. The food was so much I took it home and enjoyed it for another day. The guy that assisted me, didn't get his name came to our table after and checked in to see if we were enjoying the meal. Food and service was a outstanding. I would definitely return.

Google
Paradise chicken bowl was actually so tasty! I wish I had gotten a pic before I mixed things up. It was a little pricey, but you get a good portion that tastes fresh and flavorful. The other bowl options were veg and sounded good too. I ate here and Saluhall is lovely and vibrant.

Google
One of the best Algerian cuisines I’ve ever tasted, and made authentically by a friendly Algerian couple. Hands down the best merguez (Algerian sausage) I’ve ever had, the blend of seasonings was perfect. The fries with their garlic white sauce (kind of like a garlic aoli) was delicious, I’d put it on everything. Their Limonade (Algerian lemonade) was AMAZING. It has orange blossom water in it and is a unique twist to lemonade. This is a must try place! Also, best Backlava I’ve ever had.. even better than Turkey !

Yelp
Great healthy food, amazing flavor. Staff was super helpful and kind. Bowls were great!

Yelp
Located inside Saluhall. It's one of the cultural eats to choose from upstairs. Lots of vegan options!!! If you cannot decide which eatery to go to, the charming owner of this establishment (Mounir) will certainly tantalize you with the gorgeous photos of his food, the ingredients of their menu items, the talents of his boss/wife Wafa, and a little history about his culture's cooking traditions. I really wanted the Lion Mane Mushroom Steak. It looked soooooo delicious but I wasn't that hungry. I opted for the Sahara Feast Bowl. Mounir asked me if I wanted harissa on the side. I'm not a spicy fan but he convinced me that it's going to add another layer of flavor and nice heat. Ok! I'll try. Damn! He was right. This bowl was delicious! It was a huge portion (for me) with a mix of different flavors and textures: couscous, chickpeas, red peppers, eggplant... it was definitely a wonderful bowl of goodness! And YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO ASK FOR THAT HARISSA!! I could not stop dipping my fork into that! What was lovely about my experience is that while I was enjoying my amazing dinner, Mounir stopped by to check and see how I was doing and if there was anything I needed. For this place being in a food court, you don't expect service like that! I've been to Saluhall twice before and no one ever checked on me. But Kayma does. I've seen him before checking on his customers. Since I couldn't finish my meal, Mounir happily packed it up for me not just in a box, but wrapped it up with plastic so that it doesn't spill in my bag. Great food! Even greater service! If you come to Saluhall, be sure to come and try this place out. They even have vegan baklava! (They make their own vegan honey.)

Hyacinth B.

Yelp
Husband and wife team. She cooks, he does the dishes (but had the sincerity of a humble and joyful man who wants to share his Country's food with all),. We had the main vegan bowl, which was soo very good !! Would eat here again and again, and would love to chat with them again any day! How could I forget to mention the mint tea with pine nuts... a delight for your mouth! #vegan

Yelp
SUPER delicious food, with lots of plant based options. The man taking orders (I believe is one of the owners) was very friendly and helped me out with the menu. I ordered the earthly eats bowl, which was absolutely amazing, one of the best meals I've had in a while. I also saw online that they have a secret menu lion's mane steak, which I can't wait to go back and try. The bowl seemed a little pricey on the menu ($20) but it was soooo worth it!

Wayne Z.

Yelp
Packed with flavors and a generous portion, this dish is sure to satisfy. The harissa sauce adds a delightful kick to the dish.

Steven B.

Yelp
The Dajaj Paradise Bowl was certainly an ample size. Big enough for two actually and a flavorful mix of items. There was plenty of chicken breast meat included. The chicken being breast meat was quite dry and I feel if they used thigh meat it would make 100% difference to the enjoyment of the bowl. The French fries were nicely spiced and crispy.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Excellent Algerian spot in Saluhall! Probably my favorite restaurant in the food hall. I usually get their Dajaj Paradise Bowl, which is marinated chicken, with chickpeas and peppers over couscous -- really flavorful, nicely portioned, and not heavy at all. Don't forget to let yourself get a little sweet treat from their pastry case!

Laura R.

Yelp
The owner puts great effort into her dishes, which is truly appreciated. Each meal is carefully crafted and incredibly tasty. Highly recommended!

Vinkin Ken T.

Yelp
Ordered the Dajaj Paradise Bowl - $20. It was prepared so fast. It was a huge portion. Loved the variety of items in it: sliced chicken breasts, chickpeas, smoky eggplant, couscous and fire roasted peppers. Lots of bold flavors in this bowl. But after eating it make sure you don't make out with anyone because there is a lot of garlic in it. The dish also has a slight kick, but is not too spicy.

Ly P.

Yelp
We grabbed the Paradise Bowl here last night and it was delicious. Yogurt marinated chicken was moist and flavorful with the softest fluffy couscous. The roasted pepper added some sweetness and freshness. I would come back to try the other items!

Adam B.

Yelp
Another nice entry in the IKEA food hall. The menu at the stand seems a bit more limited than what they have online, since no beef nor merguez. However, the chicken was really tasty. Coca Hand Pie: Kinda underwhelming. On the dry side. Filling was just some thin mushrooms. Small pastry, but they made the plate look bigger with some lettuce and a few slices of pepper. The creamy sauce on the side was good though. Dajaj Paradise Bowl: Really hit the spot! I'm not a salad guy, but I like bowls that are carb-based and have some veggie guest appearances. Spiced couscous was a nice mix up, since most bowls don't use it. The chicken had some great sauce on it, with a nice little spicy kick. The roasted red peppers and chickpeas added good flavors and textures. I liked the smokiness of the eggplant, but the slimy texture was a bit unnerving. Dessert: Looked very colorful and pretty. Had a candy-like shell and soft center, with some almond paste flavors. The lemon flavors on the yellow one were especially vibbrant. Blossom Limonade: Kinda tasted like regular lemonade. The orange blossom must have been really subtle. But still refreshing and a good mix of sweet and tart.

Yelp
SERVICE - located on the top floor of Saluhall on Market Street - park in nearby garages or on the street if you can find a spot - order at counter and the buzzer will ring when your food is ready - cashier/owner is very friendly and passionate about describing his dishes in detail - food takes a bit of time so order this first if you are checking out other places MENU - Algerian selection of starters, salads, entrees, and desserts - some items are not listed on the menu but the owner will tell you if you ask for them - all vegan - average price FOOD - lions mane steak (8/10): grilled lions mane with sides of chickpeas, roasted eggplant, red peppers, olives, pita bread, couscous, and hot sauce. This is a secret menu item which takes longer to make than the regular menu items. It is a great option if you want to try a lot of the flavors without having to order multiple small dishes. The portion size is good to split between 2 people. The flavor of the lions mane was very smoky and tasted slightly charred. When combined with the other items, it was nice to eat. The couscous was slightly bland so I mixed in a good amount of the tangy hot sauce to add flavor. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The food was unique and tasty.

Yelp
The Saluhall website raves about KAYMA's signature vegan dish: "a 'steak' made from pressed lion's mane mushroom, marinated in beetroot juice for color, and coated in ras el hanout. You've got to try this one to believe just how good it is." That. That's what I wanted. When I came to KAYMA, I couldn't recall the name of the dish or what it was made from. I looked on all three (or four?) of their confusingly placed menus, and I didn't see the signature vegan dish anywhere. I let another party order ahead of me as I continued to scan the various menus, but I still couldn't find it. The person working watched me look around but didn't ask whether I had any questions. Then I started to doubt that KAYMA was the place with the mushroom-steak signature vegan dish, so I looked for other things and eventually settled on the Earthly Eats Bowl. My food was ready quickly, and I found a quiet (though too dimly lit) table to sit at near Saluhall's teaching kitchen. The bowl was fine. It wasn't spectacular, and I realized about halfway through eating it that I should have mixed it like a salad before I began, although it didn't seem like a good idea to mix the tomato sauce into everything. I don't know. I may have picked wrong, so next time, I'm going to try the "steak." The bowl was tasty but definitely not worth $20 (pre tax). This was especially galling because afterward I was a still a little bit hungry and I noticed that IKEA's Swedish Kitchen's veggie dogs are only $0.90 each. Suggestion to KAYMA: Put your entire menu on a single board. Don't assume people will look different places for different things. If you have a signature dish, advertise it somewhere. The Internet exists now; secret menus don't work anymore.

Barrie Y.

Yelp
Really delicious food. I was really impressed with the chicken bowl. Everything was super fresh and a good mix of textures and flavors. Honestly, totally worth the $20! I went back and had a stuffed date for dessert. It was sweet, but not too sweet. I really recommend this place. I'll be back.

Anthony W.

Yelp
Operating from a slot upstairs in Ikea's food court, (which is great space) this Family owned kitchen serves food that feels home style. If in area and hungry will serve you well. Their couscous is delicious. Chicken sandwich was on a baguette, and tasted ok. Shakshuka was mix of peppers, mushrooms and garbazo beans. Tasted good, but not what I was expecting, that said have never tried magnes

Shauna f.

Yelp
Quick service and very flavorful A different thing to try here in SF. Very nice atmosphere inside the IKEA building.

Amanda D.

Yelp
Food - amazing Service - amazing Ambiance - amazing I took the gentleman's recommendation - chicken kayma bowl - phenomenal flavor especially with the hot sauce! Super filling and so yummy. I also had the homemade lemonade, baklava, and hot tea - all amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Jimmy C.

Yelp
While La Cocina's chosen entrepreneurs have done so much to keep us customers happy through our stomachs, one little group of the family owned vendor had yet to gather more attention, and that's KAYMA Eatery in Saluhall. After looking at their food display, I couldn't wait to try any of their food one by one during each other day. It'd be good to settle for a quick bite before heading back home. The Coca hand pie and the yogurt dip, good to my palate with love. And so was the bell pepper salad; still, it's leafy greens must be thoroughly rinsed for a clean eating. I have yet to try other food items such as impossible nuggets the next time I dine at KAYMA Eatery. One of the amazing immigrant owned businesses of the making deserves some love.

Valerie F.

Yelp
The staff at Kayma offered us a sample of cous cous, garbanzo beans and chicken and we were hooked! They had a deal for the chicken plate with a drink and dessert. It was delicious! The roasted eggplant was my fave on this plate!

Matt M.

Yelp
An unexpected gem! Tasty, wholesome and satisfying. The Mezza Oasis salad was fresh and substantial, and the raspberries were a lovely touch.

Nelly K.

Yelp
Very tasty platter that included a raspberry salad, chickpeas, bread, bell peppers and baba ghanoush. I added the grilled chicken which was very flavorful, and there was a ton of food on the platter. It's quite pricey so will try other options at the saluhall next time!

Catherine R.

Yelp
The food is fresh, flavorful and comes from the heart, something that's hard to find in the SF food landscape. The owners work there with their family and the level of care and hospitality far exceeds expectations. They are located inside of Saluhall market, a newer food hall in mid market, and they are truly shining stars within that space. I highly recommend visiting over and over.

Sunny O.

Yelp
Try their food, it's something different I had the Dajaj paradise bowl $20 with ginger beer and vegan bakalva total was $25, he had a prixe fixe menu wow, the steamed couscous was so different, you just swallow it like cream the owner was so happy to see us. My friends are reg customers. He ordered the Lion Mane Mushroom Plate for $30 (not one the menu) it's a huge platter that includes pita bread and 3 types of vegan sauces

Haana R.

Yelp
Amazing food and wonderful owners! I never tried Algerian food and it was my first time. I would eat here everyday if I could. The chicken couscous and lentil soup was especially flavorful and filling but not heavy or oily. My fav drink was the tea with pine nuts-- never had it before and it was so good and refreshing with a subtle flavor. I would say this is better than any Moroccan place in the bay.

Brendan D.

Yelp
We both ordered the paradise bowl - it was flavorful, and the yogurt-marinated chicken was tender. A healthy tasty meal with large portions - looking forward to coming back!

Sarah C.

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise! The owners guided me towards the dajaj bowl and I'm so glad I listened to them. The eggplant and peppers were yum, the couscous just the right spice, and the chicken was flavorful but not too much. With the limonade and I was living lunch. Then, the owner brought over a warm, mint tea to enjoy with my baklava. Super kind of him. Great lunch in a bright, clean space overlooking Market Street. We'll be back.

M. H.

Yelp
Delicious food! Had the chicken sandwich and chicken bowl- good flavors and really enjoyable. Owner was very hospitable and checked on us frequently to make sure we were happy and accommodated. Loved the tea as well!

Kevin D.

Yelp
After the Chinese new year parade decided to go to Saluhall last night. Was my first time to try Algerian food. the Kayma chicken bowl was delicious. Highly recommend checking them out.

Jason W.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to grab a snack after going through Ikea. I made the unfortunate mistake of choosing Ikea's swedish meatballs over trying something at Kayma. Fortunately I pushed my wife to get the Paradise Bowl I was able to grab a few bites. The food was extremely flavorful and the portions are filling. The people working were also very nice and accommodating to introducing my wife to the menu. Overall must try, especially if you have yet to experience Algerian food.

Shawn F.

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding food and spices. I was blown away by the flavors and the gentleman providing the service. He gave us a suggestion and we trusted him. I'm so glad we did. Really great to see this restaurant in this space too as it was a much add convenience in a very cool space.

Martin C.

Yelp
Tried this joint within the food hall next to IKEA on Market street. Phenomenal and I highly recommend. Get the chicken bowl. I never knew I liked it, but the fire roasted eggplant sauce which complements the dish was out of this world.

Charlotte G.

Yelp
We went to that food court we didn't know existed while shopping at IKEA next door. As we were walking through the various vendors, a man waved to us very welcomingly from Kayma. We were excited to see that it was an Algerian eatery, which is very uncommon in the US. It was nice to be able to chat in our native language (French) with Mounir, the owner. We ordered the Ras-el-hanout fries, which were really yummy, and the Sahara feast bowl, that had merguez over a spicy couscous, with eggplant and pepper on the side. Delicious! Mounir was super nice and came several times to our table to ask us if we liked the dishes (we loved them!). We will definitely return to try other dishes when we are back in SF, thank you Mounir for the nice welcome and delicious food!

Jethro B.

Yelp
My fiancée and I have been curious about the new IKEA food court, and stopped by for a meal at Kayma. Very prompt and friendly service, fair prices, and very good food. I enjoyed the Magic Bowl, my fiancée liked her Dajaj Paradise bowl, and we shared some delicious lightly fried/battered mushrooms. We would happily return.

A C.

Yelp
Beware! NOT ALL ITEMS ARE VEGAN + Drinks are all room temperature. After bringing this up this was their response: "Dear valuable customer, Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with our coconut water. All our drinks are served at room temperature, but we do offer a glass of ice upon request. It seems our staff may have forgotten to offer this option, and we sincerely apologize for that oversight. To make it up to you, your next drink is on us. We hope to serve you again soon and provide a better experience." So weird to have coconut water with ice. Not as good in my opinion.

Shamia L.

Yelp
Enjoyed the warm welcome, ambiance was great and clean. Lions Mane steak was perfect, great flavor and texture!

Michelle K.

Yelp
I tried the Dajaj Paradise bowl and it was quick and so good! The soft combos of couscous, roasted bell peppers, chicken, and other ingredients really made it feel like a cozy, wholesome meal :) The man who took orders who seemed like the owner was also so kind!

Angela D.

Yelp
It is was a wonderful find! The food is amazing and full of flavor! I had the chicken bowl and portion was generous, with lots of great ingredients and spices! I also had one of the little marzipan hearts and it tasted wonderfully, with a hint of orange, that made it delicious. Owner was very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is in the new international food court which feels good and like a great destination location.

Jack M.

Yelp
Very good Algerian food, and friendly people. Perfect a quick and delicious meal. Definitely worth it.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I took a bite and my eyes popped open. I've eaten a fair share of veggie bowls but this one was full of flavor. Lots of different flavors: smoky, tender eggplant, my fave, umami filled, well sautéed mushrooms (I hate it when they're undercooked), a slightly spicy melange of peppers, a savory stew of chickpeas, and a bed of fluffy, seasoned couscous. It was the Earthly Eats bowl, and it truly exceeded my expectations. Bold flavors with a confident hand in seasoning, but still tasting very wholesome and homemade. It's very hard to find healthy and delicious food. When you're eating out, usually you have to compromise on one or the other. Not at Kayma. And it was such a large portion that I couldn't finish even half. My husband got the Kayma bowl, which had chicken (instead of mushrooms) that was also super flavorful, marinated and spices... (Paprika? Cumin?) He's a big eater but couldn't finish it either. (But he killed most of it.) There were also some homemade Algerian pastries that we will have to save room for next time. We dug in too fast to take pics, but we will definitely be back!

Julie S.

Yelp
Planned to come here for vegan Algerian food. We wanted to try more than two main courses and could not finish all the food. Easy to bring home leftovers. The food was amazing! The lion's mane steak had the texture of meat and the eggplant was fire roasted and was exquisite. The prices are typical for a high quality SF restaurant. This is not deli food. Mounir the owner served us and was very attentive to our needs and questions. They even have vegan marzipan desserts. The only downside is that they use a card reader that does not allow you to see the charges. I would advise that IKEA change this machine as there are hidden charges that are not transparent ie SF health tax mandate.

Jeff E.

Yelp
It was NOT a good experience at Kayma. I attended "First Thursday" and received a $20 food voucher that could be used at multiple locations at Saluhall (including Kayma). Unfortunately, the cashier was unaware of these food vouchers and stated they could only be used downstairs. Wrong! The next 5 minutes were spent taking a picture of the voucher and finding someone that had a clue. She then proceeded to cough into her hand for what seemed to be forever. This was followed by her phone ringing, and now I was ignored for what sounded like a personal call. When I was finally able to order, I stated that I was vegan and gluten-free. She was obviously oblivious to what gluten-free means as she asked if I wanted wheat bread with my Bowl. She then continues to hand me a pager from her unwashed hand. The wait for my food seemed to be forever, and there was only one other patron. Based on the lack of personal hygiene I observed, I decided to not risk eating the food. Hopefully, the homeless person did not get sick.

Hadil D.

Yelp
Great quality food and great service! Portions are an appropriate size. The orange blossom limonade was a favorite amongst our group.

Nicky B.

Yelp
Very flavorful with excellent seasoning and spices. The loaded fries were amazing and really enjoyed the mint limeade and the mint pistachio hot tea.. Owner very responsive to dietary restrictions and customized things for our allergies. Highly recommend.

J C.

Yelp
A great way to try Algerian food. It's in the food court next to IKEA. Owner is friendly and happy to help you learn. I tried the Dajaj Paradise Bowl and

Tim L.

Yelp
I love trying unique vegan food. This won't be my last visit! The staff could not be nicer, more patient or informative. I had the "secret menu" posted lion's mane entree, $32. Enough food for 2. Colorful, plated lovingly. Sides included were hot couscous, cold smoky eggplant, mixed olives, cold chickpeas, pita bread with a spicy red harissa, citrus olive oil & vegan yogurt sauce. Hot sweetened mint tea was the perfect beverage. Leftovers made a fabulous salad!

C A.

Yelp
Wonderful people. Healthy, quick, delicious, and affordable food in the mid market area.

J S.

Yelp
Got the soup and sandwich plate and a side. Food was great! But the setup needs some growing up... they did not have condiments or know where to go get them. Luckily it was a food court so we managed by asking another vendor for it

Laura C.

Yelp
Wafaa and everyone at Kayma are amazing. Hands down best restaurant in Saluhall! Fresh, so many flavors, great portions, sweet people.
