The First Timer’s Guide To Drinking In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This might be your first time visiting LA, but that doesn’t mean you have to act like a tourist. Located on top of a hill overlooking Hollywood, you won’t find Kensho on any hotel brochures or LA travel lists, and that’s exactly why you need to come here. This casual Japanese wine and sake bar has fantastic views (get there before the sun goes down to see the Hollywood sign), a great front patio for lounging around with your friends, and excellent food if you end up getting hungry." - brant cox

Went on a Thursday night and were seated pretty quickly. We got the fries with the meat topping, shrimp tempura roll, sweet p roll, I lava you roll, and the California crunch roll. Everything was amazing. Like amazing. Our server, Bernard (I think) was very kind, sweet, and attentive. If I lived in Cali, this would def be my regular spot. They are in the middle of remodeling, and it looks obvious. I also got a slice of matcha cheesecake. I have not tried it yet but if it is anything like the sushi, I am sure it will be great. The slice is tiny for the price ($13).

Took my sister here for her birthday today December 5, 2023. She is a vegetarian and wanting to experience vegan sushi. This place was in not so good neighborhood. The restaurants atmosphere was nice. The music was soft and not too loud. There wasn't very many people there. We were there around lunchtime. The service was OK. The waiter was helpful if we had any questions. Food quality: The presentation of the food looked incredible. A couple of the rolls fell apart as we were trying to eat them. One of the rolls tasted so bad that after we had one bite, we didn't have the rest of the role. The roll that fell apart was the best role there, which was called the Sweet P. Three out of the four rolls that we had were fried. The edamame were very spicy, but good. After 25 minutes of being there, I had diarrhea and stomach problems. I had to wait 10 minutes to use the restroom that they had there. Because one of the staff members were using the restroom. My sister also had stomach problems after eating there and shortly after leaving. Had to use the restroom. Once I got home which was only a 30 minute drive I then had diarrhea again. Still not feeling good after an hour and a half. We will not be going back to this restaurant. We spent $88 there and it was not worth one penny.

Google
When we came here they had apparently had a leak and the whole place had a strong cleaning product smell which was not the greatest. It also looked very closed from the outside but was actually open. So atmosphere was interesting. There was only one server but he was very friendly and helpful. The sushi here compared to the other two vegan sushi places I’ve been to takes more of a copying fish sushi approach, as opposed to embracing more vegetable flavor and vegetable sushi as its own unique thing, which i would prefer. Still, the sushi was very yummy! I liked the crunchy cali and the lava you one. Didn’t really like the fake shrimp, it was a bit rubbery.

Looking for Vegan Sushi options? This is it!! As a completely vegan establishment, it's impressive how they manage to create such delicious sushi options without any animal products. The attention to detail in their dishes is exceptional, and the flavors are delightful. From their creative rolls to the fresh ingredients, Kensho truly stands out in the world of vegan cuisine. If you're looking for a unique, vegan and yet tasty sushi experience, Kensho is definitely the place to go!

Google
People weren't lying when they said this place has some of the best rolls ever (despite it being vegan). If you're reluctant--don't be; I was, but I decided to go with my vegan friend and it was both our first time.. Totally mind-blown. Definitely take your non vegan friends here--it's affordable, you can all order a bunch of rolls and share, it tastes absolutely great, and you'll be satisfied without feeling bloated or weighed down! On top of that: good music, great service, and friendly staff. We got the yoga fire, cali crunch, and the don, which were all RLY GOOD. Some people may think it's not all that amazing or taste like standard rolls; I get it, but I think the wow factor comes from knowing it's all plant-based, you leave feeling good, and that it really tastes like the rolls you know and love--minus the fish/seafood. It's a hole-in-the-wall kinda joint; a bit spacious and lacking in decor, but still cute for a lunch date. I liked sitting at the booth. Personally not a vegan but I'm considering this place to be my new fav spot 😳 Don't walk, RUN (to this place)!

Google
Terrific vegan sushi, with this quality you won't miss real fish..I couldn't tell the difference in taste (I am not vegan). Prices are reasonable and service is quick.. everything we ordered was top notch.. Of ever in LA again, I will go there for sure..

Google
So yummy! We got the Don (cream cheese is SO GOOD), jalapeno popper roll, and seared salmon! It seriously tastes like fish, crazy good. The waiter was so very nice and accomodating. Nice atmosphere, good prices too! A must visit for vegans, in my opinion

Google
The server was awesome. The bento box was very filling. The chicken katsu is very good and crunchy. The I lava you is to die for. Overall amazing place. I feel like it's very underrated. Make sure you come in with an empty stomach because the portions are good and the food is very filling.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Best vegan sushi in town. Ambience inside was nice too. The location and area outside the restaurant was super low key tho. Was a little skeptical from outlook but the food made up for it

Yelp
Everything is plant based/vegan. 2nd time visiting. No wait this time around as the first time we visited (over a year ago) the wait was about 20 min on a Saturday night. Ceviche tacos were delightful. Sourness was on the higher side (which I do like) and the tacos were a good size for appetizers. 4 per order We ordered Bento boxes (1 with KBBQ and the other with Katsu). Both were good portion sizes and is enough to satisfy. We were not too pleased with the buns. The flavor is not much to my liking. Ended with a matcha cheesecake which was also delicious. Lighting is a bit dim where we sat (under the old kitchen hood). Service was top notch and timely. Would definitely come back

Yelp
Only thing I would change about this restaurant is the environment, from my understanding this place used to be a hibachi grill (due to the vents on the ceiling) but that didn't have much decor and it was a bit dim. Food was great! Ordered the spicy garlic edamame, salmon roll, and crunchy cali. Edamame was nicely seasoned and the portion size was reasonable. I tried my bf's crunchy cali and it has such a nice crunch to it. The baked salmon was also very good I just wish it were spicy. I love sushi so I will definitely recommend this place, it is a bit pricey but that's majority of vegan cuisine.

Yelp
We had an unfortunate experience during our first time. Arrived on a Monday night with only one other party inside. By the time we left, I counted 25 other people. There was ONE person serving, hosting, and cleaning tables (although no tables had been cleaned before we left and there were people waiting to be seated). The server was very nice when they took our order, offering suggestions, but they never checked on us after giving us our food - our waters were empty and we ended up bringing in water bottles from the car, they asked if we wanted wasabi and ginger, but never brought it. We also didn't get one of the dishes we ordered and had to ask for it to be removed from the check. I don't blame the worker as I'm sure something happened that made them be by themselves. The outside is intimidating as all the windows are blacked out with no signage other than the name at the top of the building, but the inside has a nice feel. The food: (I'm not vegan (someone in our party is a vegetarian)) The meat in the bulgogi fries had a nice texture, but was too salty for everyone. The overall dish, and sauce, was still good though. The rolls were interesting - I couldn't tell you exactly what was in them, but the textures and sauces were pretty good. I don't think I'd come back without someone who doesn't eat meat, but this is definitely a place to try out if you don't or want to take someone somewhere nice who doesn't.

Yelp
I love this place! The first time I became aware of this business was a pop-up in my area! From the first bite I was hooked! There are a few vegan sushi places open in SoCal and for that I'm grateful (since I miss sushi)! This fulfills my cravings! Wonderful service! Mia was so sweet! Very calm atmosphere. I will be going down the menu whenever I can to get a chance at every item. Great flavors, great dupes for fish!
google avatar

Yelp
I was nervous looking at this place from the outside but I'm soo glad I went for it! The food is delicious and our server was so friendly. Order the Sweet P roll!
google avatar

Sondra K.

Yelp
Dear god this is probably the best sushi place I've been in my entire life. The entire staff was kind and made chit chat with everyone they came in contact with. The place is nestled in a little strip mall and it's kinda easy to miss- but o assure you it's absolutely worth making that u turn for. The menu is creative, the food is freshly prepared in front of you and the place smells like heaven. If you're vegan or if you like sushi- or if you just appreciate good food or are even remotely able to eat at all- this place is a must try! Put it on your list!!!! Bookmark it! Don't pass it up!
google avatar

Yelp
The most amazing Vegan sushi ever! Prices are a little high for the decor which really hurts the vibe. But the food here is top notch for sure. We had bulogi fries with vegan meat so good. And all the sushi we tried. You could not tell it wasn't the real deal!
google avatar

Candy K.

Yelp
I'm a bit confused by this place. We were very excited that this opened up nearby. When we found it, we searched them on Instagram and saw how everything looked so delicious! When we got there, the place was very quiet, outdated, and lacked modern decor. Our server was really nice but the service was pretty slow. There was only one other couple there. They give you these really old menus that have very limited selection. Most of the things we saw on Instagram were not on the menu. Maybe they're waiting to get back into full swing? We got the shrimp and tuna hand rolls. Those were really good. We also got the yoga fire roll. That was pretty good but fell apart easily. We also got the seared salmon nigiri. That wasn't too good. It didn't have much flavor. I think we would go back if they spruce up the restaurant and menu!

Yelp
This is my first time coming here to try vegan sushi on Sunday, September 3, 2023. The service was great, and the place was nice and undergoing remodeling. I love the their stained glass window of the restaurant. It is hard to see inside or outside. There was short of staff so it took longer than expected. The food was fantastic. Ordered 1. Tempura Blossoms- Miso-cream cheese stuffed blossoms with jalapeños and onions. I am always picking when it comes to vegan dairy but it turned out to be more delicious than I thought would be. We loved it. 2. Crunchy Cali - Crab, avocado, cucumber, tempura, panko fried breadcrumb - the imitation crab taste so good to actual real crab. It was delicious. 3. Jalapeño poppers - Shrimp tempura , cream cheese, jalpenno , avcado spicy mayo, unagi sauce -came with 3 pieces; we loved the cream cheese flavor with spicy sauce. 4. Spicy Tuna - Spicy tofu tuna, cucumber, spicy mayo and sriracha I did not tried it as I don't eat real tuna; even tho it is vegan tofu. My family loved it. 5. Spider Roll. - Tempura Enoki Mushrooms, cucumber, avocado, seaweed caviar, unagi sauce. I didn't eat this one either. I am not a mushroom fan. My family loved it and they got a chance to try vegan caviar which is interesting. We also got the side of huge portion of fresh ginger and wasabi. I will definitely come back in the near future. I highly recommend anyone who love sushi to come here! You will love it.

Yelp
The food was really good! I saw this on IG and was thinking I definitely had to try it. The food was very fresh and it was a decent amount. It was also nice because it was pretty healthy. The service was quick and the restaurant had a nice clean interior. Will definitely be eating here again!

Yelp
We have been to Kensho few times now. Outside of one place in Hawaii, this has been the best vegan sushi place around for us. And we have tried a few from Thousand Oaks all the way down to San Diego. It's a tad pricey for vegan sushi, however, the flavors, presentation, and service are excellent. We had a chance to talk to the owner and she took the time to connect with us despite being busy. Overall, we wiould recommend anyone looking for vegan sushi to try this place out.
google avatar

Meka B.

Yelp
First time I tried, pre pandemic they were pretty tasty. This time not so much, the seaweed in the miso soup was the wrong texture. The bento box meats were tasty. The food was all served room temp. Overall I wouldn't drive this far again for vegan sushi

Nina L.

Yelp
Great vegan sushi option in OC. The seared salmon roll is my favorite. The unagi sauce is flavorful and pairs well with the filling/onions. The baked version is also good--it just has added "shrimp" and a cheesy-like sauce that makes it very rich.
google avatar

Ching L.

Yelp
With a place like Kensho, you'll never catch me settling for cucumber rolls at a regular sushi joint again. I've brought vegetarians and meat-eaters here and everyone is impressed! They really take care here to craft the sushi rolls creatively, presentation is top notch, and the flavors are unique too. Most recently, I got the Yoga Fire, the Spider, and the Don. All amazing! The Yoga Fire comes packed with spicy tuna on top & has a crunch with the shrimp tempura, and is creamy deliciousness (not too spicy). The don was simpler and more refreshing but still really yummy with the unagi sauce. The Spider came with realistic looking caviar and it was so good! Honestly all the rolls are so well seasoned on their own I barely used any soy sauce. If you want a spicy kick though, ask for the chili sauce, it pairs well with anything! The ramen was pretty good too albeit a little on the creamier side. It was interesting to try omnipork! I haven't seen it much. It could get a little slow here but be patient, it's well worth the wait! Also apparently they have a secret menu on their instagram too! I'll have to try that next time.

Yelp
This is my first time to try vegan sushi and I finally got around to trying this place after having it bookmarked for at least 6-7 years. The service is really good. I got all my questions answered and they made sure follow up and ask me how it tastes. For the taste, it's honestly really good. I had the I Lava You roll and honestly couldn't taste much of a difference to what a similar roll at another place would taste like, it really is good. I got their Cali Roll as well. I could taste the difference, but it was also really good. I highly recommend just trying it. I'm not vegan but enjoyed it just as much as I would with any other quality sushi joint.

Yelp
I am changing my 1 star review to a 5 star review. I decided to give Kensho another try and had a much more pleasurable experience. When we went the time before, we did not get great service and left very disappointed and unsatisfied. However this time everything was excellent. Great food, fast service, and friendly staff. Hopefully the next time we go it will be just as nice! I highly recommend the agedashi tofu, spider roll, and mochi ice cream!
google avatar

Kayla W.

Yelp
This place is amazing for vegan food/sushi. It's so unique and just amazing. The server was super sweet. This place may not look pleasant on the exterior but the food is on par. We got the Crunchy California, Caterpillar, Lava, Spider Roll, Sweet P Roll, Da' Kine, miso soup and other rolls I can't remember and forgot to take photos of. Just a heads up the Da' Kine is SPICY. Straight up jalapeño in there and I'm a weakling and it didn't state that on the menu so just FYI for yourself.
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Great all vegan spot! We got a few sushi rolls and the squash blossoms. Everything was delicious. Baked salmon roll was our favorite. The lava roll was a bit tough to pick up but a close second. Simple ambiance. We came on a Saturday evening, no wait and plenty of seating. Would definitely come back
google avatar

Andy G.

Yelp
We have since communicated with employees and they said there was an employee related issue that forced them to close immediately. It was very confusing to see people in the restaurant eating, and then being denied service during operating hours with zero explanation. It was especially frustrating as we drove 30 minutes one way to get to the restaurant.
google avatar

Natasha B.

Yelp
The food was really good Sadly there was only one girl and I think one chef working and the food was taking forever to come out. We waited 10 minutes before we got to even order, and like 5-10 minutes between each dish. We had to go some where so we couldn't wait any longer and had to get the rest of our order to go. I felt so bad for the girl and the chef who was working because I know they were doing their best. I really hope this was just a bad time for us to come to something because the food was good. I am not vegan and I enjoyed it. My cousin is so she wanted to try it. Other tables around us seem to be waiting just as long. I recommend trying it regardless just be aware.
google avatar

Adri M.

Yelp
SO YUMMY had to come back for a 2nd round It's a quiet little spot & although it's a bit out of my way, it's nearby the Art Supply Warehouse so it's definitely worth the trip

Yelp
Kenshō Westminster 6511-16513 magnolia st, Westminster, CA Issue with your order? Call Kenshō Westminster (741) 514-8726 Ube Crinkle Cookie: Soooooo tasty! Yummy dessert :) $5.00 Avocado & Cucumber Roll: I loved these! So fresh and delicious. (No Sesame Seeds) $8.50 Sweet Potato Rolls: These rolls were my favorite!!!! The sweet potato and avocado combination are AMAZING together. I could eat those every day. I will be back for these. $11.00
google avatar

S Z.

Yelp
Great vegan sushi but weird ambiance. It's kinda strange and looks like the restaurant is under construction from the outside. The inside is bare bones and no music or anything playing. I think there's only two people working there because 1 roll took so long for them to make. I also suggest posting the prices before adding to the order. I ordered matcha cheesecake and it was the tiniest portion about 2 bites and it was $14!!!
google avatar

Harsh P.

Yelp
There is absolutely no reason for me to not give this restaurant a five star. This is far by the best vegan sushi location in SoCal and no one even comes close to topping it. My wife and I have been several times and we haven't once been disappointed by their food quality. Their service is excellent, menu is vast, and location is perfect. Highly recommend to anyone!
google avatar

Glenn B.

Yelp
The vegan sushi here is top notch. Very reasonably priced. The service was fine. I really loved the dish called I love you. The seaweed salad was very tasty the miso soup was good, the Matcha cheesecake for dessert was pretty good, and the spicy tuna roll had just the right amount of kick. The owner might want to consider investing just a few hundred dollars into sprucing the Decor up a little bit. Some simple decorations would really improve the ambience but it was adequate. I'll definitely come back
google avatar

Denise H.

Yelp
Man this place lit af. I'm no vegetarian but this really hit the spot and def put a good name for vegetarian sushi. I had no expectations and was leaning a bit more skeptical / since I've had not had had a good experience with vegan burgers or the like - but this place really takes the cake! It's not that I even cared that it was fish or meat, or what - it was that the flavor was really balanced and really on point! It truly made my mouth buds satisfied and I def would come for more. The miso was delicate and flavorful - with a hint of ginger. The "yoga fire" was delicious - altho, I'd even want it even more spicier! The tempura blossom was bomb, and the hand roll was great as well. Keep it up! Def a good name for vegan sushi!
google avatar

Paradyse O.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal and the customer service was amazing when thinking about what to try on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the food! Love the staff who are super friendly. Happy to have an all began sushi in Orange County, Ca!!!
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
I've been enjoying their sushi for years and the only thing I would change is that it's so far from me. I try to go here anytime I can but usually it just ends up being on my birthday and I order enough to eat for the rest of the week or next day or so in reality cause it's too bomb to let sit very long.
google avatar

C. R.

Yelp
I took my love here for his birthday and it was a delicious celebration. We had the Crispy Cali roll, Jalapeno Popper roll, Sweet P roll and the Shu mai. All the rolls were fantastic! The Shu Mai was decent but not our favorite. We had the matcha mochi and ube cookie for dessert. A good matcha and ube flavor presence! The ambience was a tad dark for my preference but not off putting at all. It feels a bit like a hole in the wall place...which usually is a sign for great food! The waiter was attentive and provided great service. We will definitely be dining here again!
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
Everything is vegan here? I wouldn't have even known if you hadn't told me. Everything tasted DELICIOUS! Best vegan sushi I've ever had. The only downside was that we waited 30 minutes for our food. I wouldn't dine-in here, I would say that this is more of a to-go location. The dining room is very bare and there isn't that much of an atmosphere or ambiance. Food is amazing though! I love the sushi rolls here.
google avatar

Daisy C.

Yelp
Everybody has that one if it ever were to close it would feel like a death in the family; Kensho is that restaurant for me. I didn't even like sushi before I was vegan, and I only thought vegan sushi was ok. Kensho blows all of that out of the water. I dont care if you are vegan or not, you should be eating here. Be patient, it's not fast food. And don't worry about the outside, the inside is very nice.

Ham N.

Yelp
It was alright, got the Lava you, agedashi tofu & macaroni salad. I am not a fan of the heavy vegan foods. If that is your thing I am sure you would love this place, but not for me. The sushi sauce was too creamy and oily for me. They got the textures and flavors right though. I was highly suspect that this was vegan. I will probably pass on this. The mac salad was very good though.
google avatar

Jessika H.

Yelp
I recently dined at Kensho Vegan Sushi and was absolutely blown away. I like it so much that I've visited 3 times already. I eat a lot of vegan and vegetarian meals and its not always easy to find sushi that's both delicious and satisfying, but Kensho has mastered the art. The variety of rolls offered was impressive, each bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors that captured the essence of traditional sushi without compromising on the vegan promise. The squash blossoms are a must and the enoki mushroom handroll. We also ordered the spam nigiri and salmon nigiri. I also recommend trying the Ube cookie it's so moist and yummy. The ambiance was serene and the staff were attentive. A must-visit for both vegans and non-vegans alike. I'll definitely be regular customer here.
google avatar

Joaquin R.

Yelp
This place is still blowing my mined with the food they put out . Everyone is so friendly and service is top notch . I would for sure recommend this place for a first date if it's with a person of the vegan persuasion lol . but honestly anyone can come here and find a dish that will leave a big smile on your face ,And explosion of flavor in your mouth not on your hands lol . Even if your date suck's you'll still leave kensho 100% satisfied .

Brianna S.

Yelp
Food is pretty good here but I wouldn't suggest picking up your order. I sat in parking lot waiting for 40-50 minutes because it said it wasn't ready on the app. I went in right when it said I can pick up and my food was cold not sure how long it's been sitting.
google avatar

Prajna P.

Yelp
Recently went vegetarian this year and I have been craving sushi all year long. And this spot does a terrific job at making plants taste like real seafood. Most places are great at making it look like sushi or taste like seafood with fake meats. But this place has a healthy alternative with plants and it tastes and looks like seafood. It's a little pricey but so worth it. The customer service is also wonderful here. I believe the same woman served us both times and she is super sweet and helpful with explaining items on the menu. The parking lot is almost never packed and the restaurant almost always has seating but they have a lot of to go orders so they are always busy.
google avatar

Gino F.

Yelp
First of all...SHEEEESSSHHH This place is inSANE Everything we had was crazy delicious Still giving them five stars even tho our server forgot our appetizers and brought them out after we were already through eating. They wound up comping them and tbh it was worth the wait. SO GOOD Five plus stars

VeNae V.

Yelp
Just got home with my to-go order and there's no wasabi. I have never had sushi that didn't come with wasabi. Also I came in and placed my order which I expected would take about 15 minutes, but the host didn't offer me a seat while I waited so I stood next to the register.

Yelp
This place tucked in a small shopping plaza next to the freeway. They have interesting glass windows and the door. At very beginning, I wasn't sure if I was in the right place and if the restaurant was still in business or open. With hesitation, I just opened the door. Tada~ the door can be opened. Walked in and a server quickly greeted us. Not gonna lie I was a bit surprised what I saw inside. The basic tables and still have remaining kitchen or fan equipment prob from previous dining business. Honestly it was having me doubt if this place is legitimate good/ clean. We ordered (spicy) garlic edamame to start with and was delicious. They cooked the edamame so it didn't come with cold dish. They were very generous with their sauce. To the point, it's a bit too salty for me but it's all good. We saved the sauce for the sushi rolls. We also order i lava you( I believe). Baked scallop rolls, sweet p, and caterpillars. I would say def share with someone for the baked scallop rolls. The mayo was heavy on the top. I ate all by myself and a bit tired of them at the end. ( unfortunately my partner didn't want to eat it) the rolls are flavorful for all three of them. The lightest on flavor is sweet p but honestly it's a good balance when ordering all three. All plates are well decorated. This vegan sushi place was not disappointing. Would come back again!

Yelp
Our first trip to Kensho and it did not disappoint! We love vegan sushi so we like to try every restaurant we find that makes such a wonderful treat! A few months ago, we tried the Kensho in Yorba Linda but sadly they closed after we had only been there once. The food was delicious so we decided to try the one in Westminster also. The food was amazing and the service was awesome! We wanted ube crinkle cookies but they ran out so our server recommended the macha cheesecake and it was so delicious! Generally I'm not a cheesecake fan as they tend to be too heavy a dessert for me but this was light, creamy and tasty! Our server also showed us the new Hawaiian BBQ plate and it looked really yummy! Definitely want to try it next time! Highly recommend this place! We'll definitely be back for more delicious vegan food!

Yelp
Unbelievable vegan sushi! Taste and presentation perfection! I have come three times now and every time am blown away. I crave this food and I'm hard to please. A forever customer and maybe number one fan . You won't regret trying this place out!!! Five stars

Kenshō provided a great experience during my visit a few months ago. The Spider Roll was an absolute delight, with its delicious and crunchy texture making it a standout dish. On the other hand, the Tantanmen, their vegan ramen, was a letdown. The ommi-pork in the ramen didn't taste good, and the broth lacked the flavorful richness I was hoping for. However, the service at Kenshō was exceptional, five-stars for the service! We visited on Mother's Day, and our server was incredibly sweet and attentive. She even surprised us with a delightful vegan mochi ice cream treat, adding a special touch to our dining experience. Her positive energy and warm demeanor made the visit even more enjoyable, although I can't recall her name, which is a shame. I'm hopeful that my next experience will be just as delightful, and I look forward to trying more of their menu items.

Yelp
My friends who don't eat meat wanted to give sushi a shot, so we found this place. Honestly, as an avid raw fish eater, I was a little hesitant but was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. We arrived at 6PM on a Saturday and it was pretty empty at the time, but by 7, it was packed. We were seated right away and ordered the jalapeno popper, baked salmon, crunchy cali, i lava you, and shrimp tempura. I was really surprised by the taste of all of the plant based fish and seafood. It was really tasty and the combination of flavors was quite good. As someone who eats sushi pretty regularly, it was definitely different, but not bad. My favorite was probably the baked salmon, but I wish we did try some rolls with more fish, so we could do a true comparison to raw fish. Luckily, my vegetarian friends really liked it. They liked the crunchy cali the best. Overall, the servers were really nice and gave us suggestions and for plant based sushi, it actually was a pretty good option for the plant based folks out there.

Yelp
I'm so excited Kensho popped up my Instagram feed! I have been vegan for 1 year. I used to love sushi! For a year, I have been eating veggie rolls from Sprouts...boring! I ordered the seared salmon roll, and it was absolutely amazing!!! We also ordered the bento box and the squash blossom...I was in awe of the flavor!!! I am so happy I found Kensho! I can have a gourmet meal while being kind to animals! The icing on the cake is Kensho is right down the street! The service was amazing, and the ambiance was quaint! I will be a regular customer at Kensho, my new happy place!!!

Yelp
I just tried their new location. I'm definitely happy that they've done well enough to move from the old, tiny location to a much bigger restaurant. The food did not disappoint. The spider roll is still my favorite. The seaweed salad and gyoza is also delicious. No complaints about the standard California roll. 4 stars instead of 5 because the service could be better. Our server didn't remove anything from our table. Not the menus or the empty dishes. I'm not too bothered. I thought it was funny. Still coming back for the food, for sure.

Yelp
Me: 3 stars Hubby: 5 stars (based on taste of food only) Hubby loved the taste of all of the rolls. His favorite was the spider roll and the shrimp roll. I concur with his choices, but I was not as smitten. He is vegetarian and I eat fish, so this is a huge factor. If you don't eat fish and are craving sushi badly, this is a good choice. If you love sushi and then try to replicate with vegan rolls, you might be a 3/5 star rater tool. We both thought the lava was too saucy. I would not order this dish again. Our waiter recommended it. I found it unpalatable. My son was neutral on his food. He did not like how spicy it was. He LOVES sushi, but like me, he wasn't a fan of the vegan version. Kensho is very cute, but when we were there we were literally the only ones eating in the restaurant observing a bored staff. It was highly uncomfortable, and we have not been back since. Bottom Line: Vegans will most likely enjoy this sushi. I told my hubby to go with his vegan friend in the future. =)
