"Mazesoba is a style of brothless ramen that originated in Nagoya, Japan. Because the freshly cooked noodles need to be cooled down a bit before being dressed in a thick, doubanjiang-based savory sauce, it’s particularly popular in the summer. This newly opened shop was founded by the people who also run Futago Udon right next door." - Nathan Tavares, Eater Staff

Had a great time here today! The food was delicious. I have fallen in love with this dish on my trip to Japan, ans this place definetly delivered a great experience with the deep flavors I was looking for. I had the shoyu and my partner had the vegeterian option They were both great. I loved the tofu as well, it was delicious and that is no small truimph when dealing with tofu. Loved the rice bowl at the end - just like in Japan :)

Kenzoku Mazesoba is a new Japanese restaurant specializing in its namesake Mazesoba, which is a brothless ramen served with a wide variety of toppings. They also have a range of appetizers available and sushi rolls. The staff were friendly and attentive, bringing us our food quite quickly as well as answering any requests we had. We got the Yuzu Shio, Tantan, and Thai Spicy Mazesoba. The portion size was pretty good for the price, and came with a decent amount of toppings on top of the food. The sauce went really well with the noodles, and also went well with the rice vinegar provided or the free rice bowl you can also request. The meat was tender and soft, and the noodles were chewy and were great for the sauces. The thai spicy wasn't too spicy, and had a little creaminess on it that made it taste better. Definitely a place to come back and try again.

Google
The noodle taste good, but this guy server is very rude. He would give me side eye when I ask for boxes for take out. And they have seats available, however this guy server let me waited for additional 15 minutes because he wanted me to sit at the corner. Maybe you should teach your server how to be polite And plus the takoyaki is very burned outside, it feels like it’s been overcooked

Google
So delicious!!! Nice clean interior, the service is so friendly, probably suitable for smaller groups (max like 4-5 people, any more and it will be crowded/hard to get seating) The food was absolutely amazing and so flavorful with many options. I got the tan tan noodles, and you can ask for a small bowl of rice to go with any leftover sauce in your bowl.

We got the Yuzu Shio and Vegetable Mazesobas. The former had thick, juicy, and fresh cuts of pork chashu. The broth was very flavorful and comforting, and the noodles were amazing—very slurpable! Unfortunately, the vegetable dish had no broth, was cold, and contained raw vegetables. It tasted more like a cold noodle salad. It was still pretty good, but not at all what we were expecting, as it wasn’t classified as a ‘cold dish’ or ‘completely brothless.’ We were looking for something more similar to udon noodle soup or ramen. The Passion Fruit Panna Cotta was way too sweet and basic, but not terrible. I wouldn’t get it again, though. I definitely recommend the Yuzu Shio Mazesoba and would go there again to try other non-vegetarian Mazesobas.

I have been here 3 times this week. I cannot stop thinking about the curry cheese mazesoba. Now that I just thought about it again I'll probably have to return tomorrow. The waitress hustles hard and sometimes service takes a minute, but friendly hardworking staff. The mentaiko cream and yuzu shio are also good but not comparable for me. Takoyaki is yummy. Matcha latte is great for so cheap. Go here now. My #1 rated spot in Boston.

Google
Nice staffs, fast service and decent food. I had Ankimo(monkfish liver) and Yuzu shiho. Ankimo was very refreshing, but a bit salty. The braised pork in the yuzu shiho was so tender and juicy. Also, the portion was generous. The restaurant was nice and cozy. Didn’t have that many seats, but neat and clean. I would recommend this restaurant.

Google
SO GOOD!!! The sushi was just okay, but the Mazesoba was absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait to have it again and again. Pork sausage was also really good.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem! I went there with a party of 6 and while they don't take reservations, the wait was only 10 minutes and the host asked to take out order before sitting us so we have less of a wait time after seating. The ambience is probably better for a smaller party as the store is quite small, but very doable if you have a medium sized party and is willing to wait. Overall very lively and can be a bit noisy, but perfect for small talks. We each ordered a noodle dish and everyone loved it! I had the Thai spicy mazesoba and it's such a unique experience with a mix of spicy, sourness, and flavor with the rich base. I'd recommend for any noodle lover looking for a new place to check out!

Yelp
So glad I tried this place out!! I am not a big ramen person but mazesoba hits different! I don't think you can find anything similar in Boston: think thick ramen noodles in a savory umami sauce with lots of hearty toppings. I got the Tan Tan and the hamachi torch roll. Both were so delicious. A little pricey in my opinion for the level of service (nice but not super attentive or anything to write home about). Portion sizes are decent but not big enough for leftovers. Just for myself I spent over $40 after tax and tip and didn't have leftovers. I will definitely be back as a treat!

Yelp
I do not know if this is a frequent issue but the ventilation was terrible when I stopped by for an early dinner. The entire restaurant had a heavy smell of burnt oil that ended up sticking to my hair and clothes even though I did not stay for a very long time. The food itself is good and I appreciated how quickly the orders come out. I tried their tan tan mazesoba ($18) which is packed full of aromatics. The noodles themselves were quite filling so I almost did not ask for the extra rice at the end! I was glad I got the rice anyway because they do not give very much so the portion was manageable. The rice soaked up the soft egg, minced pork, and other toppings that were left in the bowl after I finished all of the noodles. My partner got the shoyu mazesoba. Even though there were a lot of ingredient/topping overlaps to the tan tan mazesoba, both had very distinct flavors.

Rosanna N.

Yelp
Really good mazesoba chewy noodles great mixture of sour savory would recommend reasonably priced too

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to go in Boston and a place I recommend to friends that come to visit. I always get the Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba and should probably try other things on the menu, but am usually always craving this one. They also make a delicious matcha latte which is only an additional $2 with an order of noodles. The service is always quick and there's usually only a little bit of a wait to get seated. If you finish your bowl of noodles and still have sauce leftover, you can also ask for a free bowl of rice.

Yelp
Kenzoku Mazesoba gives you a refreshing taste. The service was so-so, even though the price was not busy; it gets even slower when there is a line at the door. - Pink Lady $16.00 Crab salad, Avocado inside w/ torch salmon, scallions, spicy mayo, sweet sauce, and tobiko on top. - Shoyu Mazesoba $19.00 Spicy minced pork, scallion, mixed green, chive, minced garlic, sesame seeds, poached egg. - Yuzu Shio $20.00 Slow-braised pork chashu, scallion, mixed greens, onion, minced garlic, sesame seeds, poached egg. Flavorful. Breaking the poached egg to mix all the ingredients in the bowl together, and with added vinegar, it just became more flavorful. You get a free bowl of rice to soak up the sauce, which I did not try since I was planning to go somewhere else for a second round.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect dining experience! The service was extremely fast and incredibly warm and welcoming. They filled up our water as soon as it got low and they were ready to bring us anything we needed. The restaurant itself was quaint, clean, and culturally reflective. Though it was a small space, it was not too loud and it didn't feel crowded. The dish itself was absolutely packed with flavor! There was a subtle spice that was not overwhelming and a consistent umami with depth and layers of flavoring. Each topping lended itself perfectly to the overall dish and brought its own element of texture from the crunch of the lettuce to the creaminess of the egg with the sauce. Additionally, the noodles had a perfect soft and slightly al dente texture. And I can't forget: the matcha was cherry on top! As a huge matcha fan, I can say this one tasted incredibly authentic. There was a prominent matcha bitterness that wasn't masked but enhanced by the fresh sweet foam on top. The matcha was the perfect consistency and perfect amount. I have no idea how they were able to make the food so quickly and yet so delicious! The only thing is that their dishes are a little pricey, but the portion is decent and if you're willing to splurge, this is a great place to go! Overall, on a nice cold fall day, this is a perfect quick dinner for anyone wanting something warm and comforting!

Yelp
Saw the reviews and had to check this little place out! Such a cute restaurant to spend the evening at, the waitresses were so friendly and it was perfect for a Saturday night. It's busy, but their service was super quick. We had the Salmon Don (bowl), and the Kurobuta Sausage. The salmon and the ikura were fresh, and plentiful! Lots of rice underneath and I was full halfway through it. The sausage was definitely something new and so very vibrant, it was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. We loved this place and we can't wait to show our friends this little gem!!

Judie K.

Yelp
I'm so glad they opened a mazesoba place around Boston!! The first time I've tried and enjoyed mazesoba was in LA, so it is a bit hard not to compare this to my experience there; however, for Boston, this is indeed one of the best. My S.O. and I love their curry cheese and yuzu shio mazesoba dishes. Lots of great flavor and toppings to enjoy. The noodle itself is also perfectly done. The best part is their chashu which is so tender. I also really enjoy the dessert option they offer -- passion fruit panna cotta! Service was quick and it's a nice spot for dates or just hanging with friends. Definitely will be coming back for more.

Yelp
Sashimi of the Day: Salmon 5/5 Takoyaki 4/5 Tan Tan Mazesoba 4/5 Yuzu Shio 5/5 A casual atmosphere with good food, but pretty pricy. The Food~ The salmon was pretty fresh with lots of meat, fatty, but not fishy. Nothing to complain about. The takayuki was hot and creamy, with tender octopus bits. The sauce wasn't overly sweet and was cool to look at as the flakes moved about. The Tan Tan Mazesoba had a tiny bit of spice, creamy, with the greens to keep it fresh yes savory. Afterwards, they offer rice to mix with the leftover sauce and the nuts felt a bit too much for the rice, but the pork went well with it. The Yuzu Shio had a slight bit of tang, with the yuzu really coming through. This was lighter than the tan tan and helped balanced the palette. The pork was also tender and juicy. With the rice though, it felt a bit too tangy. The logistics~ There's plenty of parking around the area. The staff is nice and leaves you be. There's a lot of warm lighting and natural lighting coming from the windows. It was pricy though. Not sure if I'd come here on a regular basis, but great once in a while.

Yelp
Cute little noodle place that offers some delicious dishes. Service was quick and the servers were so nice and attentive. The place was minimal and very clean. I really enjoyed my sweet pork don and my friends were elated over their delicious noodle dishes! My dish was filling and really affordable. Excited to try more of their items next time.

Corey Z.

Yelp
An excellent dry noodle bar! I came here with my friends at around 1 PM, and we were seated immediately. I was impressed with the variety and creativity of the dishes they offered. I ordered the mentaiko cream mazesoba, which was extremely delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the pork belly was huge. After you finish your noodles, they provide a bowl of rice to finish the leftover sauce. I was worried there would not be enough sauce left for the rice, but it was the perfect amount. For an extra $2, you can add a matcha latte to your meal. It added a fresh contrast to the savory noodles. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit to try the other dishes they have available!

Suha L.

Yelp
This restaurant is perfect for a hot summer day. Mazesoba is a dry(ish) noodle dish that is usually cold. The noodles here are handmade and super chewy and bouncy! I got the yuzu shio mazesoba and it came with a flavorful broth, pork, poached egg, greens, and more. I loved the citrusy flavor and it didn't feel too heavy. I just wish it was colder because the broth was a bit lukewarm. My friend got the mentaiko cream mazesoba and it was very creamy and heavy on the fish flavor. Super aromatic and bold in flavor so great if you like seafood! If you don't, I don't suggest it. What's super cool about this restaurant is that they give you a small cup of rice to mix in with your leftover broth! It's a perfect way to end the meal.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
So impressed. This was my second time, and each time I go I feel like I should immediately return for my next meal. This time I went for lunch right before a high energy event and was hoping for a nice experience before I had to be "on", and this certainly delivered, the service was very pleasant and efficient, and there was a promotion on their matcha latte so I got one--nice! The latte way surpassed what I was expecting--earthy, with a thick creamy almost coconut-like texture milk, rather than the interchangeable matcha lattes at so many places. And that was just to start. The real highlights were the salmon don and curry cheese mazesoba we ordered. I was not expecting to feel like I stepped back into Tokyo with that don, but that's what happened. Super fresh salmon and salmon roe of a quality that reminded me of Japan over tasty, perfeclty cooked rice and with a lovely homemade seeming tamago and a fresh shiso leaf. Perfection. And his mazesoba was wonderful as well. I'm not usually one to crave a noodle soup but this one had some rich and decadent notes we both loved, with a perfectly cooked charsiu. In summary, I wanted a positive experience and Kenzoku more than delivered. Thrilled to have you here as one of the gems of Boston.

Kim B.

Yelp
I've never had mazesoba before- I am a big fan! This new place was surprisingly not as busy as the other noodle restaurant next door during lunch hours, as we were immediately seated. The interior is small but lovely- bright and cozy and the plates were beautiful. I ordered the tan tan mazesoba and my friend ordered the shoyu. We were not sure how to eat it but luckily there were instructions on the menu. The meal was flavorful, not too heavy, and surprisingly more than I could finish in one sitting. The server was also kind in suggesting us to mix the leftover sauce in rice that they provide. Definitely a place worth to stop by for lunch or dinner.

Wilson L.

Yelp
Boston has been long overdue for a mazesoba spot and Kenzoku is a great place for it! The yuzu shio was delicious and adding in spicy minced pork was a good call. Started with the salmon uni tacos which were great. A bit on the pricier side IMO but overall still worth it. The staff really hustles to get you in and out, didn't feel like I could sit and chill for a moment.

Jungwon K.

Yelp
This place was so so good! I was craving noodles and heard this place recently opened, and had such a great meal here. Fortunately, there was no wait and the servers are super attentive and welcoming. We ordered the takoyaki, which was incredible! It came out super hot and fresh, and the inside was soft and delicious. I've had takoyaki at other places and I've noticed they tend to be still a little raw and undercooked on the inside, but the ones here were fully cooked and still soft. Highly recommend if you like takoyaki. For my noodles, I got the curry cheese with egg on the side. These noodles were super creamy with a savory cheese flavor. The portions were very large, too. I like that the greens added a nice crunch to the soft noodles. We also got some rice at the end, but honestly I was too full to finish. I definitely want to come back to try the other noodle dishes and some desserts!

Christina P.

Yelp
Was really hyped up by this place to be somewhat disappointed in unusual broth. Chicken karaage (10/10): so juicy and tender, I loved the batter around the chicken, light and crunchy. They serve two sauces with the karaage; the sweeter, maybe tamarind/soy one was definitely my favorite! Shoyu mazesoba (6/10): mostly unflavorful; though I prefer brothless ramen, this was lacking the flavor that a broth ramen would have, or that is made up for in mazesoba by seasoning the minced pork. Mentaiko mazesoba (5/10): I'm not sure if mentaiko mazesoba was meant to have a citrus aftertaste, but mine did, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth after. It was not my cup of tea, but the mentaiko mixed with the poached egg ended up being very creamy to coat the rest of my chewy noodles. I liked that they gave you rice to mix with your mazesoba leftovers! I did not take a bowl just because I was really full after. The place was really busy and crowded, so make sure you come earlier or call in to check on their wait. Our party of four waited about 30 minutes around 7 pm. It is a tidy place with an open kitchen, so I love smelling the aromas while I wait. The staff was really kind and attentive, and I appreciate their little check-ins while they were slammed. I probably wouldn't come again unless I feel compelled to try a different style of mazesoba they have to offer or if I'm around without any wait.

Caroline S.

Yelp
Such a refreshing meal! The sauces are super flavorful and form a great medley with the toppings. My personal favorite is the Tan Tan Mazesoba -- it's earthy, umami, and definitely a repeatable meal. The Yuzu and Mentaiko Cream are also delicious and successful in letting the yuzu flavor be the hero of the dish. Service is super kind and attentive. You can ask for a small cup of rice at the end of your meal to soak up any extra sauce. This place is generally crowded but the wait time isn't too bad. People come in and out rather quickly because of the quick service! However do plan to wait around 10-15 minutes when you come.

Jade J.

Yelp
This was my first time having Mazesoba and it was an immaculate first experience! Our table ordered the Tan Tan, Shoyu, Thai Spicy, and Yuzu Shio Mazesoba - truly all four dishes had it's own unique flavors and were super tasty. If we had to pick the top 2 it would go to the Tan Tan and the Yuzu Shio - both offer the classic Mazesoba taste but the difference would be that the Tan Tan gave a more pepper spice kick while the Yuzu Shio was more citrusy and soy sauce based. We think the Shoyu was a bit too basic while the Thai Spicy was good it was just a little too salty and truly tasted more like a curry noodle soup which we weren't sure we liked or should've expected haha Just when you think you've beasted the noodles, they come and give you a small cup of complimentary rice to mix into your leftover broth/sauce so truly, no crumbs left over! Overall, the service is super quick and the interior is very simple and neat with a softwood touch incorporated. My boyfriend and I come from SF, so we're surrounded by really good Asian food. However, we both agree that these were some really good noodles. So, I highly recommend trying them if you are in Boston.

Alex L.

Yelp
Really good spot with great flavors, we just walked in. Tried the Yuzu Shio (5/5), Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba (4/5 I think was too acidic/added too much acidity that day), and Pink Lady Maki (5/5 super yummy).

Nhung N.

Yelp
Kenzoku Mazesoba is a Japanese restaurant located in Brookline. It is the sister restaurant to next door Futago Ramen. Parking is not hard to find for this area, all a short distance walk at most. For appetizers, we ordered the uni shot, salmon sashimi, takoyaki, the monkfish liver seaweed salad, and fried chicken wings. The uni shot was tasty but meant for one person. The children and my husband enjoyed the wings and takoyaki. The sushi was fresh. We ordered one of the Mazesoba, one of the salmon maki specials, and the salmon chirashi bowl. The highlight of the meal had to be mazesoba meal. That's the must try when dining at this restaurant. It tasted very good. I hear the broth was taken from their sister restaurant next door so it's a win for patrons. We also received a passion fruit mousse dessert on the house. The mousse was lightly sweetened and the passion fruit gave it a sour twist. Our waitress said that the restaurant was reluctant to make this item permanent on the menu due to the available of the fruit. Overall, excellent service and food. I will definitely be back with my family again. See my pictures.

Monica L.

Yelp
Got the yuzu shio mazesoba and the food presentation was beautiful!! Really good yummy yuzu shio!! The savory umami flavor somehow went really well w the citrus and wasn't bitter like other yuzus I've had. I sorta wish I didn't mix it into the noodles bc it was so nice and creamy by itself too :') The green onions were fresh, seaweed was crisp! Pork chashu was so soft tender and well flavored Noodles were thick and chewy, went well with the yummy broth They bring you a cute free little bowl of rice too for the extra sauce! I didn't like it as much w the sauce bc the combo was sour rice haha but the rice on its own was great to eat too and perfect levels of chewy and soft Vibes inside clean but cozy space with colorfully painted walls and nice big windows Waiter was also friendly and food came out fast! But we also went for an earlier dinner so it wasnt as crowded All around great experience Oh and they have the nice quality wooden disposable chopsticks too :)

Deborah C.

Yelp
I had visited Kenzoku Mazesoba during their soft opening phase and enjoyed my meal so much that I came back to introduce other people to their food. One small change is that they require the full party to be present to be seated, which makes sense since there is limited space. There's seating for individuals as well as for groups of any size. Both times I visited, I got the Thai Spicy Mazesoba. I love Thai food, so this was the perfect blend of flavors. Towards the end of your meal, they'll offer you a small bowl of rice to finish off the sauce. This was my first time experiencing this, and is such a special way to finish a meal. We also split the Takoyaki, which comes in servings of four, so between the three of us, one person got an extra. I would definitely come back to enjoy more of their menu, but honestly I might just order the Thai Spicy again and again.

Abby H.

Yelp
This is a gem, and the soba noodles are beyond delicious. I came with a big group of nine, and they were able to fit us in as we came earlier during the dinner service. However, I recommend going more in a smaller group as there aren't as many large tables. But back to the food - they do the broth-less noodles so well. I had the Tan Tan Mazesoba - little spicy but nothing crazy. And they give you some rice after, so you can stir that in with the remaining sauce you have left from the noodles. I also tried the cheese soba noodles, and it was also really good! I'm not a big fan of cheese, but it wasn't too cheese-y. I'll definitely come back again and try more of the menu.

Gustavo R.

Yelp
Phenomenal!!! Great little spot that is close to BU's campus / Fenway. It's relatively quick, has great service, and fantastic homemade noodles! Decently priced for a meal that felt like home.

Tony T.

Yelp
I'm so glad that Boston has been expanding its scene for Asian food and especially the addition of the first Mazesoba! This place has a great selection and I usually opt for the ones with spicy mince pork. The Shoyu Mazesoba was delicious and I'd love to come back to try other ones.

Kasey H.

Yelp
This cute, new Japanese restaurant is a great addition to the Brookline/Fenway area. This was our first time trying mazesoba (brothless Japanese ramen). We ordered the Curry Cheese Mazesoba and the Yuzu Shio. Both were delicious! The Curry Cheese wasn't overwhelmingly cheesy, and the Yuzu Shio was refreshingly bright. The noodles here are chewy and springy, and there was a myriad of textures in each bite from the runny egg, juicy pork chashu, and crunchy vegetables. I wish it came with more noodles and meat, as there were only three pieces of pork chashu in each bowl. However, it's nice that they offer a free, mini bowl of rice towards the end of your meal to mix with the leftover sauce. Be prepared to wait for a table! The restaurant is quite small, and we waited around 30 minutes on a Friday evening around dinner rush. Once seated, the servers are attentive and the food comes out quickly.

Richard P.

Yelp
Overall: noodle shop after noodle shop popping up one next to the other. This spot fills yet another niche with exceptional quality and flavor. Its downfall is the popular BU area location driving its price point above a comfortable level. Food: the 3 bowls we ordered all initially look the same, but are drastically different in flavor. The yuzu shio is exactly that tangy light summer flavor perfect for a hot summer day. The curry cream has that heavy winter warmer spice flavor with its rich cream. (Didn't try the 3rd bowl). The noodle are the hefty thick style soba noodles with a nice firm chew. The toppings included added immensely to the experience with the light greens the poached egg and the pork. The main knock is the price point coming in at a whopping $20 give or take. The quantity of noodles feels slightly underwhelming but they make up for it with a dollop of rice. All things considered worth giving a try to see if you'd like it!

Lin W.

Yelp
Super cute place with delicious food! It wasn't very busy on a Friday evening, but I had to flag the waiter down a few times to get my water refilled. We had the chicken wings as an appetizer, which comes on a bed of greens and with a sweet red sauce. The chicken wings were very crispy and tender. I got the yuzu shio mazesoba. If you like tangy broths, this is exactly what you want! The noodles had a nice chew and the pork was tender and sweet. Definitely want to come back and try the mentaiko cream mazesoba sometime!

Ethan M.

Yelp
Perfectly chewed noodles topped with spicy minced pork, minced garlic, onion, chives, and dried chili pepper, all crowned with a velvety poached egg. The sauce was fantastically nutty and rich that - when mixed with the egg yolk - added such a creamy texture to each slurp. a Tender and flavorful pork clashing that effortlessly fell apart with just the gentle touch of my chopsticks. Sauce was a harmonious blend of sweetness from the yuzu and saltiness from the soy sauce, with additionalcitrusy notes of the yuzu adding a refreshing brightness to the savory ensemble. Snappy sausage accompanied by sharp, earthy flavor of mustard and the sweetness from purple cabbage. The fiery, smoky hot sauce added a pleasantly sharp kick to an overall simply and satisfying starter. Tender, melt-in-your-mouth Hamachi paired with a sweet, tropical purée that created a harmonious, delightful flavor profile. @kenzoku.mazesoba is a fantastic, relatively new addition to Boston's collection of noodle restaurants! Unlike its neighbor, Futago Udon, Kenzoku specializes in broth-less Mazesoba, where the flavors of its sauces are more concentrate, rich and less diluted. Each dish was its own experience, from breaking the beautifully poached egg to mixing all contents in the bowl together, to finally adding in a free bowl of rice to soak up every last drop of the sauce. The owner was even kind enough to give me a free dessert! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a flavorful and comforting bowl of noodles! The inside is also very lovely and clean!

Connie C.

Yelp
This makes you go OOOoOooOo!!! What a pleasant surprise tucked in Fenway/brookline border -- freshly hand-made Yuzu Shio Mazesoba (Slow braised Pork Chashu, scallion, mixed green, onion, minced garlic, sesame seeds, poached egg) and Uni Chirashi Bowl (Uni, Tuna, Hamachi, Salmon, Ebi, Ikura, tobiko, tamago, cucumbers over rice)

Carmen C.

Yelp
I had this restaurant on my list to try for a while, and I finally made it there on a Friday evening. We walked in and had no issues getting a table. The interior is very welcoming, open, and there were quite a few tables and booths. We ordered the uni shooters, pink lady sushi roll, mentaiko cream mazesoba, and ten ten mazesoba. Everything was really good! The uni shooters were flavorful since it has ponzu sauce in addition to the sake. The pink lady roll was fresh and both the mazesobas were delicious. The noodles were perfectly chewy and the meat was tender and juicy. When you near the bottom of your noodles they offer a bowl of rice you can eat with the remaining sauce. Perfect if you love carbs! We will definitely return!

Amber C.

Yelp
I've never had mazesoba before and I'm so glad I tried it here!!! For those that don't know it's kind of like a warm saucy soba with a lot of toppings! I was not expecting much when I first ate here but I'm actually very glad I tried it because it's a very refreshing meal. Of the dishes, I've tried the original and the yuzu one and I think I actually really prefer the original mazesoba! It has all the right ingredients that balance each other out. At the end of the meal, they give you a small bowl of rice that you can mix into the sauce to finish it off and it is just sooo delicious. It is also surprisingly a lot of food too, so you might have extras! I'd definitely recommend this place to eat with a friend for a casual meal! Service is good, usually not a long wait, street parking out front and usually spots available.

Yelp
Kenzoku is new spot in Boston specializing in mazesoba, or brothless ramen meant to be mixed and eaten‼They have the kindest staff that prepare in-house fresh made noodles dailyand were very informative We loved the yuzu flavor in the mentaiko cream and yuzu shio mazesoba bowls, and the texture of the slow braised pork chasu just melts in your mouth Although I'd say the mentaiko cream was my favorite, I LOVED the nutty, sesame flavor of the tan tan mazesoba paired with the spicy minced pork Overall definitely recommend trying Kenzoku out! I'm definitely coming back to try their chirashi bowls

Yelp
Favorite place around town. The service is great and the food comes out fast. The space is so nice and cozy. If I could I would come here every day. I love how they give you rice after you finish your noodles. The food is top tier and their matcha is amazing. I couldn't recommend a better place.

Yelp
Came on a weekend at dinner time and don't really need reservation since it's next to Futago (which is more renowned). However, think this place is so underrated. I got the Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba (5/5). The noodles were great and the pork belly was so tender. Service was really quick as well and the waiter knew that if you're in deep conversation with your friends, he'll wait to come by before getting your order. They are really attentive. I would come back again to try the other items on their menu

Yelp
The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the service was great! The worker was very friendly and attentive to us. The yuzu shio was refreshing although the dish was confusing at first because it was cold/warm. The mentaiko was a bit too fishy and salty in my opinion. I probably wouldn't get it again. They also give you rice at the end but it's really just one spoonful. Overall, I'd go back again to try the other items and loved the vibes.

Yelp
A comfortable, cozy experience! The service was top notch as the mazesoba came out quickly and our waters were constantly filled. The mazesoba was packed with so many different ingredients - it was an explosion of flavor in my mouth! In particular, the Mentaiko Cream was such a unique blend of creamy and fishy and herby that was pleasant and unfamiliar to me. To be honest, the cream became slightly overwhelming for me but that tends to be the case with all creamy things for me. It definitely does not take away from the initial beautiful flavor profile. Also the portions are very big since they bring out a bowl of rice to mix into the excess sauce.

Yelp
Rounding up my 4.57 average rating to a 5 here. My partner and I got the kurobuta sausage, cheese mazesoba, and tan tan mazesoba - TASTE: 4/5 - the kurobuta sausage was like a satisfying hotdog topped w mustard and pickled red cabbage. Our spicy minced pork had a nice light-medium spice level, and I savored the creamy cheese sauce in my dish. Liked the option of adding vinegar too TEXTURE: 5/5 - love the concept of brothless ramen bc broth typically fills me up too quickly! Enjoyed mixing in all of the elements of the bowls, including the unexpected mixed green salad, poached egg, fresh green onion, seaweed, and the tender noodles themselves PRICE: 4/5 - the mazesoba noodle entrees are $18-21 so a little pricier than expected for lunch, and the sausage app is steep at $8. Total came to $58 SERVING SIZE: 5/5 - the free portion of rice, to soak up and mix into the remaining sauce, was the perfect ending and locked in our satisfaction SERVICE: 5/5 - walked in at 1pm on a Saturday and a few tables were still open. Our food came out 10-15min after ordering and the staff was friendly. We walked out of Kenzoku Mazesoba within 30min! ATMOSPHERE: 5/5 - appreciated the clean, minimal space --even in the bathroom-- w cozy wooden touches and a bright mural PARKING: 4/5 - got our go-to metered street spot on St. Mary's St nearby

Yelp
It was hard at first for me to try this place, because I wasn't honestly sure what to expect and from first glance it wasn't something I could see myself craving for but man was I wrong!! Love this sister restaurant of Futago and the decor and seating of this place were so aesthetic ! This brothless ramen is made with handmade noodles that are chewy and thick (less thick than udon but thicker than ramen noodles). Before mixing, I wasn't too sure how saucy the mazesoba was, but you gotta trust the process because everything came together once I mixed everything and behold my noodles were coated. I recommend adding vinegar (which is on the table) to your bowls to add some acidity to it! I got the Tan Tan Mazesoba and this was so addicting, creamy with a slight sweetness. I do wish there were more meat in my bowl since the ratio between the noodles and meat weren't too great but I still enjoyed it. I really wanted to get the chashu but I had some from my friend and it was so so flavorful!!! If you been meaning to check this place out, trust me and try it!! If you love dry noodles def come here

Yelp
Food: 10/10, extremely flavorful without being overly salty, acidic, or sweet. Would definitely recommend the Mentaiko if you like some fruity notes on top of the umami flavors. Ambiance: clean, bright, and spacious. I appreciated that the tables were spaced out and you comfortably had enough room between your party and the next. Always a huge plus too when there are clean bathrooms.

Yelp
Looking for a foodie experience different than ramen and udon, this soba shop has blown me away and satisfied my craving and expectations! Kenzoku Mazesoba is a casual Japanese restaurant specializing in soba noodles and seafood plates and more. I came here at 5PM on a Thursday which was perfect for available seating and street parking. The menu had so many soba and sushi options, which I truly believe to be the best combination. The Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba caught my eye which included mentaiko, slow braised pork chashu, shisho, chives, garlic, and nori. I loved my bowl of goodness, I really enjoyed the Mazesoba! All the flavors were very intentional. The fun additional part of the experience is that a free bowl of rice is optional to enjoy every last ounce of sauce in the bowl. I had almost forgotten about this option that I read on the menu, but it didn't matter because the servers were really friendly in offering me the bowl of rice.

Yelp
I've been looking forward to trying Kenzoku -- I'm always down to try a new bowl of noodles. It's located right next to its sister restaurant Futago, and there was no wait for lunch on a Monday. The restaurant is clean and spacious and the service was great. I got the yuzu shio mazesoba ($19). It was a refreshing dish with pleasant flavors. The pork chashu was pretty good and the mixed greens added freshness and acidity. I preferred the taste of the broth before mixing everything together (more savory and less acidic/sweet). The noodles have a similar thickness to soba, and they are cooked well. The egg seemed like an onsen egg, and while mazesoba eggs I've had in the past have seemed to add a rich thickness, something about the doneness of the egg yolk combined with the cold liquidy broth made the egg kind of disappear into the broth. This dish is pretty light overall -- I've definitely had rich/heavy mazesobas, and this was not one of them. I personally prefer thicker noodles in this type of dish. The serving size was decent -- they offered rice afterwards, but we were pretty full. If I came back, I would want to try some of their appetizers as well as the shoyu mazesoba.

Yelp
Mix mix mix! Kenzoku Mazesoba brings a fun dish to the city. LOCATION: Located conveniently by the green line. There is street parking only so I recommend taking the T. It's right next to Futago and space itself is quite small. FOOD: I highly recommend the yuzu mazesoba. It was absolutely declious! The charsiu was so tender, noodles had the perfect texture, and the yuzu sauce was just perfect. SERVICE: Quick and attentive!

Yelp
A cute spot near St. Mary's station. We got the chicken wings, phoenix roll, and mazesoba which were all delicious! There was oil and seasoning on the table to add to your mazesoba. The interior was clean and decorated nicely. The service was good as well. The bathroom was clean which is always good Recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
This place gets busy on the weekends! We waited about 15 minutes and there was a small line out the door. This place has about 10-15 tables. We got the yuzu, shoyo, and tan tan soba noodles. They messed up one of our orders, but quickly fixed it and gave us the correct bowl. The soba noodles were cooked to perfection and the flavors complemented each other. The shoyu is a little too salty for me. I really liked the yuzu noodles. The greens added a different flavor to the sauce. The pork belly was super flavorful. The servers checked in on us a couple of times to make sure everything was okay. Overall, it was a great experience.

Yelp
I can't recommend this new noodle restaurant enough! Located in an easy to get to location, it's a quick 10min walk from Fenway and a must if you're in the area. From my knowledge, they only opened recently but they are already one of my top noodle spots in the area. We tried the thai spicy and curry cheese mazesobas, both of which were the perfectly sized portion and packed with flavor! The service was also amazing, they constantly checked in on us and were extremely welcoming and friendly. After we finished our noodles, you even get the option to add rice to your leftover soup as the perfect finish to your meal, just like what I'd do at home! I'm absolutely coming back and I highly recommend checking them out!

Yelp
This place never disappoints! I was so excited about a restaurant specializing in mazesoba to open in Boston, and I am pleasantly surprised at the quality and flavor of their dishes! I believe this spot is established by the same owners of Futago (right next door). Service is timely and everything I have tried so far has been delicious (both their sushi and mazesoba). My personal favorite is their yuzu one - so filling and refreshing! Highly recommend this spot.
