Best Food Trucks in Austin

"Even though barbecue truck Kerlin is closed, its barbecue-filled klobásníky lives on at this East Austin truck. The pillowy dough comes in brisket, sausage, and smoked pork varieties, and this location is in an excellent food truck park with lots of seating, plants, and shade. A second location exists on South First, and you can order to-go out of a ghost kitchen in South Austin." - Erin Russell

Austin's 22 Most Iconic Dishes

"While the Kerlin BBQ truck is now officially closed, its famous barbecue-stuffed klobasniky live on with its off-shoot truck Kerlaches. There’s brisket and cheddar cheese; sausages, pickled jalapenos, and cheddar; and typically a vegetarian option, all stuffed into soft pastries. It was created by co-owner Amelis Kerlin. (While Kerlin calls the item “kolaches,” the term usually refers to the sweet version of the pastry. klobásníky refers to the meat-stuffed iteration.) There’s a second truck down in South Austin, as well as a ghost kitchen spot in the McKinney neighborhood. Takeout orders can be placed in person at the trucks and online from the ghost kitchen, and there are outdoor dining areas available." - Nadia Chaudhury, Erin Russell

Kerlaches Review - South Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"A few years back, Kerlaches changed the Central Texas game by stuffing expertly smoked meats from (the now closed) Kerlin BBQ into a kolache. The is still going strong, but now the team has expanded with a second location at the Thicket Food Park in South Austin. Expect to find the same kolaches, stuffed full of oak-smoked brisket, sausage, and pulled pork. " - Nicolai McCrary

Kerlaches - Review - East Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Kerlin BBQ, one of our favorite barbecue spots in town, has long sold kolaches stuffed with smoked meats on weekends that regularly sell out (technically they’re klobasniky if you’re a stickler about terminology). And now they’ve opened a dedicated trailer to barbecue kolaches called Kerlaches. Find them in East Austin at 2505 Webberville Rd, in the same trailer park as Veracruz All Natural. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary" - Raphael Brion

If I remember correctly, my kerlache was $7. I got the brisket and cheddar one and it was tasty, definitely get the bbq sauce to go along with it.

Kerlaches here were top notch! Ordered brisket and cheese and the pork and cheese. Accidentally received spinach and feta, surprisingly (to meat eater brain) it was really flavorful and seasoned well!

Absolutely incredible! The brisket and cheddar kolache was smoky, tender, and paired perfectly with the slightly sweet dough and tangy BBQ sauce—just a perfect bite every time. The sausage, jalapeño, and cheddar kolache was equally amazing: spicy, cheesy, and super satisfying. You can really taste the quality in every ingredient, and it’s clear these aren’t your average kolaches. Friendly service, great flavors, and a must-try if you’re in Austin. Get there early—these things sell out for a reason! Instagram: eatwithjarco

I had the jalapeno cheddar sausage and the spinach feta. These were one of the most delicious things I've had in Austin. They were packed full and very good size for the price. Warm and fresh ingredients flavorful dough. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommend!

Picked one up from Dame Cafe and it was delicious. Savory and sweet at the same time, even my girlfriend who doesn’t like cheese loved it.

Interesting concept, got brisket and cheddar. The dough was sweet which was interesting but was not cooked all the way through. On the inside of the bun, some of the dough was still raw. Also a little pricy.

Got a brisket cheese and a sausage. Must be a trendy spot for the reviews are good but the food not so much. Brisket had a somewhat sour smell and didn't taste good. The sausage was good but it was kinda cold.

One of the best kolaches I have ever had. They use bbq meats for filling instead of the usual sausage/ham etc. I had the pull pork and Monterrey jack cheese, brisket and the pork belly burnt ends w/ jalapeños (wkend special). They were all awesome, pull pork was actually the best surprisingly. The are $5 each and contains a decent amount meat. Very satisfied, we def come back and recommend for anyone tired of the standard kolaches. I hope they make some sweet options soon.
