Google
What an awesome little food truck in an excellent food truck park. Delicious and homemade kolache’s reasonably priced and very fresh. We’d loved both of our choices! Brisket and cheddar for the win. Will be back.

Google
Hands down, my favorite kolaches in south Austin! The pastry is just the right amount of thickness, and the fillings are delicious. Best part if you’re getting a box to go is the thoughtful details on top of each kolache - the number of crusty cheese strips will tell you a) how many ingredients are in that kolache filling and b) which one you’ve selected. Minor, but a brilliant product detail! 🤯 Once you eat one it’s hard to stop, and we’ve watched folks bite into their third kolache in a row only to realize they are pleasantly full…then still eat it anyway. Can’t recommend a stop into Kerlaches (and the rest of the Thicket trucks too) if you’re in the area! 💯 Plus the person staffing the truck is SO kind and helpful! She’s makes the experience of purchasing fast and a delight! 🙌🏻

Google
just great food! I got the jalopeño sausage kerlache and 2 brisket ones (the latter is my fav). the bbq saice is vinegary. I like that they had 1 vegetarian option (spinach & feta) for my wife. food came out pretty quickly. I wish they were open during dinner hours as well!

Jayan Rajakaruna

Google
Unbelievable! Tried their Brisket, Pork and Sausage and all three was out of this world. My pregnant wife who usually hates meat and feel pucky actually smashed it 😋. Generous filling, flavorful and served hot hot 🔥

Sam Berg

Google
Incredible Kolaches at little to no wait! Highly recommend brisket and cheddar and can't wait to try the others.

Jason Cantu

Google
I knew the Kerlaches were gonna be fire when I smelled fresh dough when ordering at the window. I got the spinach feta and the breakfast special. 10/10 would recommend.

Joseph Chandler

Google
The Brisket Kolache is absolutely life changing! The service was super friendly! It’s in an awesome food truck park with great outdoor seating and vibes!

Brian Jurisch

Google
Brisket and cheddar cheese was super good. Juicy meat, soft kolache, nice and hot.

Haley F.

Yelp
10/10. The best kolache I have ever had (and likely the best I will ever have). I tried both the brisket and pork kolaches. Both were absolutely delicious. If you had to pick one, get the brisket (they are known for this one the most). Each kolache comes with a BBQ sauce that it is VERY tasty and compliments the kolache really well. Walking up to the truck, I could already smell the bread ... DIVINE. Biting into it was heavenly. The bread is perfect. Super soft and a little sweet. The meat was cooked perfectly. Also, the service was super quick. You get the food pretty much immediately, at the perfect temp. I can't recommend this place enough!

Rachel B.

Yelp
Super easy to order and the kerlaches are already ready to go so no waiting. One of the best kolaches out there. You'll be paying for the meat as the one kerlache was snack sized but $6.50 before tax and tip. There is almost no parking in this area.

Christina H.

Yelp
Kerlaches is created and owned by the owners of former Kerlin BBQ and offer savory kolaches infusing their love for BBQ and kolaches. There are 4 kolaches they currently offer: Smoked Pork, Sausage, Brisket or for vegetarians, the Spinach & Feta. I ordered the Spinach & Feta and the Brisket Kolaches. The dough is incredibly soft and fluffy, but I'm more of an egg or traditional kolache gal, so didn't find my Texas Kolaches too appealing-- even though I really wanted to. BBQ Lovers, this one is right up your alley.

Katie M.

Yelp
All I have to say is - YUM! We ordered the brisket kolache, sausage kolache and pork kolache. The brisket and cheese kolache is out of this world!! The kolache breading is so soft, the brisket is smoky and the bbq sauce ties it altogether for an incredible bite. The sausage kolache was a pleasant surprise in that they give you a pretty big piece of meat (like what'd you see for a "sausage on a stick" compared to a hot dog size). The pork kolache was good, but the other two blew us away.

Cassie T.

Yelp
The kolaches here are really good! They give some kind of bbq sauce which elevates the flavors even more. I tried the smoked pork and the sausage jalapeno cheddar. Both are really good. Only downside is I paid about $14 for two kolaches. The size of the kolaches are normal/average size. Would've given 5 stars if they weren't so pricey.

Megan J.

Yelp
Overall just an average experience. The lady on the food truck was pretty mechanical and didn't seem happy to be there, but maybe she was having a bad day. This is a food truck. I got the jalapeño cheese kolache. The dough was a good flavor but very thick and a lot of dough compared to filling. It was pretty much 70% empty inside with a little piece of sausage and barely any cheese. Good spice level. I ate it but I wouldn't come back unless it was the only option for food.

Bryan D.

Yelp
SXSW morning and we had a short walk from our Airbnb we ran upon this food truck park. They had a wide selection of kolaches. The service was polite And super quick! My wife is half Czech so these needed to meet high standards. The steak and cheese were brilliant! So good, fresh, and full of flavor. Cool laid-back area and a ton of fun. Comfortable and a joy!

Paulina A.

Yelp
Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I went with the spinach and feta, usually if they can do a veggie filling taste delicious then it probably is solid overall But I think I may have ordered the wrong thing. It was soggy and the spinach was past that perfect cooking point. Very friendly and nice lady behind the counter. I had to wait zero minutes and it was hot, right out of the oven. It was shaped like a little bun, not the typical kolache shape. Reminded me of a Venezuelan cachito. The dough itself has good flavor, a little sweeter. I will give it another chance and get a variety of them. Plus I appreciate the story behind this business!

Ang F.

Yelp
Unique textures and flavors. Bread different than most kolaches, with a light crispy on the outside and soft interior. A slight sweetness, but doesn't at all overwhelm the savory flavors introduced by the variety of meats and cheese. Don't sleep on this one. Perfect post-hike snack. Order one of each, if you dare.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
There isn't anything I can add to what other reviewers have mentioned, as Kerlaches really does deserve their 5 star rating. 1st star-The dough, amazing. It kind of reminded me of an Asian baozi. 2nd star-Filling, delicious. 3rd star- Ratio of filling to bread, spot on. 4th star-Service, speedy and loved how they are served warm and ready to eat AND the box is labeled! 5th star- Ambiance, the food truck park is so cute and inviting. You can't go wrong with anything you pick, we actually got one of each offering and my favorite is a tie between the OG brisket+cheddar and the Sausage + Jalapeño + Cheddar Kerlache. I was surprised how I liked the Spinach+Feta as feta is usually not my cheese of choice. I also usually like pork, but this one was a bit under seasoned for my taste buds but now I know exactly what to order next time!

Michelle D.

Yelp
Tres Leches Cinnamon Roll - this is a MUST get! It will speak for itself. Not too bready - just perfect.

Minh D.

Yelp
Had Kerlache at a truck on Webberville Rd along with Desnudo, Vera Cruz Tacos, and Doughminician. This place has delicious kolaches. They fill it with a good amount of meat, cheese was just right melty and full of flavor. The buns were soft and warm, they seemed to be churning out fresh kolaches all day. Kolaches dont taste like they have been sititng on the counter all day. I love the brisket & cheddar one and its their most popular. Bf had the sausage and prefered the brisket too. If you get one thing from Kerlache, get the brisket!! The woman who works there is really nice. They handed the kolache for you right away which is a nice plus since the wait at neighboring Vera Cruz and Desnudo are forever...

Eric G.

Yelp
I wanted to try this place because I haven't actually found kolaches that I like. Figured if I'd like any, maybe it would be here! And I have to admit, they were far better than any others I've had, but I think I'm also just not a fan of kolaches. Service was great, almost immediate if you're not waiting in a line. I tried a breakfast kolache and a brisket kolache. Honestly probably could've done with just one, they're very filling. I'd say I liked both equally. Overall recommend if kolaches are your thing!

Lori H.

Yelp
Food: Pretty good kolaches. Our favorite was the Brisket + Cheddar and Sausage Jalapeño + Cheddar. Service and Ambiance: We went on a Saturday morning, and the food truck park was crowded, but there was no line. Our order came out right away. It was a nice, chill place to be. It was dog-friendly, there was plenty of outdoor seating, and free street parking.

Ashley W.

Yelp
I got the brisket and cheese kolache ($6.50)! It is a circular bun that is very soft. It reminds me of a brioche bun. The kolache is about the size of your palm. I think this is overpriced for the size, but on par with Austin food truck prices. The brisket was very tender and flavorful!

Karson S.

Yelp
Tried another kerloche flavor today (pork and Monterey Jack) and still didn't disappoint! I may like the brisket a little better, but both are great! The truck (or maybe its twin?) that I tried today is up at the Webberville foodtruck park, and WOW are they fast! Kerloches are hot and ready to go as soon as you pay so no long wait after you order which was SOOOOO nice. Definitely a fav for a quick meaty Texas breakfast!

Lizzie R.

Yelp
It was surprisingly good! I walked up to the truck hoping they were in service as they weren't available in October 2023. I did not know what to expect and I definitely want to go back and try out their other flavors. We went on a whim to begin with but again it was good. The weather was a tad bit on the warmer side, however, after finding a table, we were able to sit down and enjoy the food.

Fanny W.

Yelp
AMAZING KOLACHES located in the food truck park. What We Ordered: + Sausage, Cheese, Jalapeño; 5/5 + Brisket & Cheddar Absolutely loooved the SAUSAGE+CHEESE+JALAPEÑO kolache. I ate this while walking around the neighborhood waiting for food from another food truck. The sausage to bread ratio was perfect, not overly bready. The sausage was huge and tasty! My partner got the BRISKET+CHEDDAR, which he loved. This was one of my favorite meals while visiting Austin.

Tomas R.

Yelp
I consider kolaches a food group of it's own and I can seriously eat a kolache a day if that's what kept the doctor away. Kolaches are like the best hand pockets full of delicious toppings to eat on the go or while sitting down. What's funny is I've only had Kerlaches while at Palomino Coffee, but they are so damn good. Their brisket and cheddar kerlache is my favorite. Really hits the spot.

Kara M.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of kolaches, and lately I've enjoyed the unique brisket and cheese kolache at The Salty Donut, so when I saw this place also offered a similar item, I knew I had to order one. They offer a handful of options on their menu, and there is a vegetarian option (spinach and feta). Card only, no cash. OVERVIEW: A solid, filling, tasty kolache for $5.95+ tax. I'd pick up one while in the area getting coffee from neighbor truck, Desnudo. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, plenty of street parking (no meters). - Vegetarian option? Yes, there is a spinach and feta kolache option. FOOD RATING: - Brisket and cheddar kolache (5/5): Moist, tender, and sizable portable of brisket. Would have maybe liked a bit more cheddar, but overall very tasty. Warm, comforting, and a delicious way to start your morning.

Karen Q.

Yelp
Kerlaches is a food truck located in a food truck park. There are plenty of outdoor tables in this area and lots of free street parking. We came on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the brisket and cheddar kerlache, there were out of other items already. It was tasty and a generous size.

Bettina D.

Yelp
Best kolaches in Austin hands down Great service, fast turnaround Perfect Saturday spot

Jamie P.

Yelp
Even though one was filling, I wanted to eat 5 more. I finally got to try Kerlaches from their food truck on S 1st St in the Thicket food park and it did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and it took 2 minutes to receive the food from the time I ordered and it came out hot and ready. I ordered the OG brisket and cheddar, which was stuffed full of both. They did not skimp on the meat. Definitely would recommend!!

Krista H.

Yelp
I am so glad we finally tried Kerlaches. We ordered the brisket & cheddar and the sausage, jalapeño, and cheese kolache. Both were super delicious and the best part is that you don't have to wait to get your food! The brisket & cheddar was super juicy and flavorful and was even better with a little bit of the bbq sauce it comes with! The sausage and jalapeño had such a good flavor and wasn't spicy. They were both very filling and felt like they were worth the price (about $15 for both). This food truck park has amazing options and we will definitely be back for more kolaches!

William H.

Yelp
The best kolaches in Austin. It is not even up for debate. All hand made with love and fresh ingredients. Will be back next weekend and every weekend after that.

Josh P.

Yelp
We went to kerlaches last Sunday after drinks at the cavalier across the street. We were with a few friends and wanted to try all 4 options and split each kolache into into 3 small pieces. I was most excited for the brisket and it was OK. A little too sweet for my preference and the sauce was a bit vinegar forward. The feta and spinach was probably the favorite for most of us which surprised me as it was the one I expected to enjoy the least. I'd rate the experience 3.5 if I could. Wasn't bad but I wouldn't be sad if I don't go back.

Tae K.

Yelp
I love a good kolachie so when you put Texas BBQ in a kolachie I'm sold. The breading on both kolachies tasted like a yeast dinner roll for context. I'd say the standard is the brisket and cheddar. The brisket is well seasoned moist. I didn't really see much cheese in the kolachie. It comes with a BBQ sauce. But like good Texas BBQ sauce you don't need the sauce. Also if you aren't a fan of vinegar the sauce is a vinegar based so FYI. I also got the special the Carne Mechada (Venezuelan beef). It sounded wonderful and when I read Venezuelan beef I am expecting a lot of flavor and spice. I will say the Carne Mechada was not my favorite it lacked spice and had subtle flavor. Overall it is a good kolachie. I wasn't wowed but I'd go back.

Alex H.

Yelp
By far the best kolaches in Austin and possibly in the state! It's located in a cute food truck area with coffee and other tasty treats.

Emily E.

Yelp
I'll get straight to it - These were some of the best kolaches I've had in Austin in a hot minute. Served warm, the bread of the kolache was soft and slightly sweet, and had a nice bready chew. The Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage was bomb - you'll find a succulent, whole sausage with cheese and a lateral slice of jalapeño so you get a little of everything with each bite. The Brisket Cheddar was juicy and had a nice meaty texture. I honestly can't choose a favorite between the two! Despite being absolutely yummy, I am giving 4 stars because of the pricing. I get that it's being marketed as a more "gourmet" option, but I just have a hard time rationalizing the price. Much respect, it is delish, but this may be something I consider more so a novelty treat, Definitely looking forward to the next time I visit!

Sarah S.

Yelp
I don't know why this place isn't on everyone's austin FYP TikTok yet. If you haven't gone, check out this hidden gem as soon as possible. The traditional (sausage/cheese) and non traditional (brisket and cheddar) kolaches are all fantastic. It is also in a food truck park, so it's a good place to bring your kids, dogs, and friends to just hang out. Best kolaches in Austin! Thanks Kerlaches.

John M.

Yelp
Purely next level in the BBQ Game! In Laws visiting from Kansas...he wonders why we dont visit..never heard of a Kolache yet alone The Kerlache...These were just plain perfect!!..Super soft and packed with tender meat..we stayed with the basic Brisket and Cheddar...some may say they are pricey but for us worth every single penny!. We are huge fans and will be paying another visit soon to try other flavors...honestly we will get extras and freeze them...would be great in the air fryer!

Danny V.

Yelp
Have never heard of a kolache before until today and you best believe I'm glad I did! Oooey gooey fluffy and puffy savory treat - get yourself 3 of the brisket cheddar and you'll have a day

Lydia L.

Yelp
So delicious!!! We initially got a vegetarian kolach (baby spinach & feta) and immediately got hooked - it was AMAZING! I've never had anything like this before. The closest analogy I can come up with for the vegetarian kolach is a spanakopita put inside a baked bun, with the layered friable wrap replaced by a soft spongy fluffy round wrap. The next day we came back to get another baby spinach & feta, and a brisket & cheese. OMG these are the best!!! So soft, so fluffy, with so much cheese and delicious tender smoked brisket packed inside. The rich flavor from inside, the texture mix, the tad sweetness from the bun, everything was sooo perfect - not bland, not greasy, not too much, not too little, just about right. Two hours later (2:30pm) I decided to try the sausage & jalapeno & cheddar, which was recommended by the staff, but they were already closed. So the only downside about Kerlaches is they sell out too fast =( Please make more!!!

Mariana G.

Yelp
I ordered the brisket and cheddar kolache ($5.95) which comes with barbecue sauce. The dough is super soft, and it's filled with a generous amount of delicious brisket. The barbecue sauce is a bit too vinegary for my taste but you don't need the sauce to enjoy this kolache. Since they do sell out, I recommend calling before going to make sure they still have what you're looking for. I loved that it's part of a food truck park, so you can explore other food options as well. They have nice outdoor seating and we were able to find street parking pretty easily.

Bonnie R.

Yelp
Kerlaches is soooooo good! I had the brisket and cheese kerlache which they serve with a little container of BBQ sauce. It was delicious! Love this food truck park! Lots of shade and seating. I will definitely return!

Cindy C.

Yelp
Soft bread, flavorful brisket and really no need for a side of sauce. I really enjoyed my brisket and cheddar kolache along with my coffee from neighboring Desnudo. The service was super quick and the food park is a nice place to relax and socialize.

Jack L.

Yelp
For the cost I don't think you could get better food! Tucked in the coolest picnic area I wish I lived closer! Kind service and ambiance was awesome.

Misha T.

Yelp
Tried both the brisket and sausage kolaches and they were both very good. I've had a number of sausage kolaches and I'd put theirs up with any of them. The Brisket is probably the better of the too. Soft and smoky, though they could stand to stuff it a little more.

Mallorie T.

Yelp
Best Kolache I have ever had!!! If they just sold the dough I would eat it happily. I have tried all the flavors and my favorites are the brisket and the spinach. They are really big and full, one person could be content with one, but if you're really hungry, get two. I am also obsessed with the staff here. I have met the owner a couple of times and cannot say enough about her kindness! It is great to support a local Austin business with some incredible food!! Highly recommend this place and I hope to be back soon.

Lo L.

Yelp
Great little East Austin truck for a breakfast! Have been a few times. Brisket kolache our fave!

Emmet C.

Yelp
TL:DR; Pretty great. Definitely get a brisket and cheddar. Use the BBQ sauce, too. Saw a video on Instagram of someone pulling apart a brisket kolache, so I had to come check this out (cause adding brisket into breakfast foods is just... the best idea). It's in a cute little food truck park on Webberville, so that's pretty cool. Anyway, food: Brisket + Cheddar - The reason I was here. The reason I will be back. Has a surprising amount of brisket in it. Admittedly, I was slightly apprehensive at the price (Yes, I know it's East in 2022), but at $5.50 a pop it felt like it was going to sting pretty bad if I cracked it open and all I got was a tiny bit of brisket. Well, sting it did not. The thing is pretty large and packed full of very tasty brisket, with a nice bun around it too. There maybe could have been a tad more cheese to my liking, but I'm sure there's personal preference abound for that sort of thing. The brisket, though? I would eat that again, especially when paired with the BBQ sauce. Sausage + Jalapeno + Cheese - Very good. Though, it was noted that the sausage was rather on the large side. I dunno, take that however you will. I guess if you're imagining the classic kolache, with the small hot dog-esque thing, and then you bite into this and get this hog? A surprise, to be sure. (You may not welcome it, though) Spinach + Feta - Hey, way to go having vegetarian options. Very cool of you. Also, very good. Did you know that their BBQ sauce goes really well with this? Cause yeah. I am now very full of brisket, but I would not turn down one more brisket and cheese...

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
Driving around Austin we saw a ton of signs offering kolaches. We had no idea what they were until someone explained what this quintessential Texas food is. A friend recommended that we try Kerlaches as it merges the idea of a tart with savory ingredients such as barbecue meat. We HAD to go before we left the city, and it was certainly worth the trip. We tried the pulled pork and brisket with cheddar cheese. Both were absolutely delicious, but the brisket was unbelievably tender and on point. This place is 100% worth checking out! Such an awesome concept and absolutely delicious.

Mariana M.

Yelp
I came for the Brooklyn food truck next to this place but the kolache truck caught my attention. I shared a brisket kolache with my boyfriend and we both thought it was amazing. I'm not even a brisket girl but I loved it. My regret is not having room to try more. I would come back for this place next time!! Soo good & friendly customer service.

Paul B.

Yelp
We have been going to Kerlin since they opened and when we lived in Austin, were always among the first in line on the weekend days they had kolaches (which often sold out fast). We were stoked to see that they were opening a trailer dedicated to the kolaches so we could have them any day of the week and not have to work to get them lol. As a lifelong Texan, these are the best kolaches I've had (okay, klobasneks, but that doesn't roll off the tongue, does it?). The quality is still just as good as when they were making fewer of them. I have no idea how she does it! The Kerlin folks are lovely people and they make incredible kolaches. Go eat em!

Joel B.

Yelp
Fantastic! This is the ultimate Kolache. I've had all kinds from West, these are as good as the best, but with Brisket!

Lauren H.

Yelp
These were made so perfectly! It's absolutely stuffed with smoked meats and the dough is so light airy, fluffy and chewy and their Barbecue sauce paired with the kerlaches so well. I'd definitely order more for a party!

Reagan P.

Yelp
Love this truck!! I'm there every weekend for their sausage, egg and cheese Kerlaches. The brisket and pork are soooo good too! Highly recommend!

Jay B.

Yelp
These kerlaches are so good. The brisket and the sausage are always great, but the burnt pork ends are my favorite.
