"Sure, you can get great brisket, ribs, and sausage at Kerlin. But coming here and skipping out on the pork belly burnt ends or the barbecue kolaches is like showing up at a steakhouse and sticking to the salad. The barbecue is among the best in the city, but a few bites of those burnt ends will be the highlight of any day. And if you like your sides on the unconventional end, the blue cheese coleslaw is the twist you didn’t know you needed. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary" - Nicolai McCrary

"Kerlin BBQ is reintroducing its kolache truck this year, focusing on barbecue-stuffed klobásníky such as brisket and cheddar, smoked sausage, jalapeno, and cheddar, and vegetarian options. The new Kerlaches truck will open at a new location. The kolaches began in 2014, with a dedicated truck opening in 2017." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Kerlin BBQ, a well-known barbecue truck in Austin, is reopening on September 4. The reopening is sponsored by Kingsford Charcoal, which is offering a $5,000 tab for ribs on the opening day. Known for its brisket kolaches and stellar Texas barbecue fare like brisket, ribs, hot links, and sides, Kerlin BBQ is celebrating its seven-year anniversary. The barbecue truck, co-owned by Bill and Amelis Kerlin, has been recognized among the best barbecue spots in the country and has been temporarily closed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic." - Erin Russell

"Kerlin BBQ, the essential barbecue and kolache/klobásník truck, is moving from its current home in East Austin. Its last day at 1700 East Cesar Chavez Street will be on Sunday, October 27. After then, Kerlin will be found in its new location just blocks away at 2207 East Cesar Chavez, within the East Side Food Park, starting on Wednesday, October 30. The relocation is due to the same reason Kerlin’s current food truck neighbor Veracruz All Natural is leaving by the end of the year: because the current landlord wants the lot empty by the end of the year in order to sell the space, as confirmed by a rep for the barbecue truck. Kerlin’s relocated space will sell both barbecue and kolaches from the same truck. Its hours will remain the same: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until sold out from Wednesday through Sunday. Kerlin BBQ pitmaster and owner Bill Kerlin opened the truck in 2013, followed by the dedicated kolache trailer in 2017." - Nadia Chaudhury
