"Cole Valley’s 30-year-old Kezar Bar & Restaurant has reopened after a quick one-day closure with a new chef and menu. Lacie Smith is now the executive chef — she’s cooked on the line at Boulevard and Villa Taverna — and will introduce about 10 new dishes, including a spin on ratatouille and sea bass with crispy rice, bok choy, and pineapple. Several Kezar staples — like the burgers — remain on offer." - Janelle Bitker

"Kezar Bar & Restaurant, a longstanding neighborhood restaurant in Cole Valley, is undergoing some changes with the addition of Jim Angelus as a partner. He plans to implement back-of-the-house upgrades and tweak the menu, including adding a kids menu. Despite these updates, Angelus aims to preserve the restaurant's traditional neighborhood charm." - Ellen Fort

Burger should be what you order! The lamb is a great choice and the side salad is better than you'll get at most places. The fries are a medium cut but somehow still pretty crispy! I got the cauliflower appetizer and it was fine but nothing to reorder - the Brussels sprouts may be another option.

I almost always order the Potato pancakes! 🥔 We eat here frequently, and the food is okay, though I'm not sure I can see any rhyme or reason to the menu. The enchiladas are also okay, I also enjoy the mac and cheese. I love this place because the food is really reliable, its easy to get a table, and the atmosphere is nice.

This is a nice place just not as good as the prices suggest. Wine is $13 a glass for nor cal wines that are 30 a bottle. Food is good but for two people you're looking at a $90 meal which just feels like too much when you leave. Had oysters last time I went and was very surprised that they served oysters that were comically small. Good place just needs some tweaks for me to want to frequent it.

They make great food but the waiter's/waitresses are not very good. It took almost an hour to make a burger on a quiet night. They forgot to put our order in the first time so it turned out waiting for 1 and a half hours for a burger. 1.5 hours.

This place is great. It's a pub with food so good that people order it for delivery. It's kid friendly (which is important in its neighborhood context), and it's big enough that you can usually avoid kids. The bartender is excellent, the kind that knows how to make a proper Aperol Spritz.

The service was so awful; the hostess wanted us to sit directly under a blasting speaker, when I said we didn't want to sit there, she threw the menus on the table, said,"sit anywhere" and walked away. So we found a table for two in the dining room that hadn't been cleared off yet and sat down. Until the server/table clearer literally berated us for sitting at a dirty table. I've never experienced such rude behavior by restaurant staff in 36 years that I've been living in SF. Needless to say, we walked out and had a marvelous meal elsewhere by kind and considerate staff.

Nice and causey. Best if you manage to get one of the tables near the window in the front room, else it get a little too loud. We each had a different burger and they were good. Forgot to take picture...

We liked to go here for awhile but, after charging our kids almost 9 dollars for fizzy water and a splash of cherry juice and overpriced butter noodles we stop going. Food could be so much better but it is not. Food much better now and kids food much better as well. Thank you for stepping up.
