"Sen Yai Sen Lek specializes in single-dish noodle and rice entrees inspired by Bangkok street food made with sustainably grown ingredients.  Order the pad bai gra pow, a holy basil stir fry with ground pork or chicken topped with a fried egg (vegetarians can sub mock duck or tofu).  Parents will love that the restaurant has a menu of Thai-style kid’s meals served with a scoop of ice cream. There’s also an impressive selection of local brews available for take out." - Alex Lodner

Google
The chicken drunken noodles was flavorful with fresh basil but very little meat. The chicken pad Thai was atrocious, very orange and sweet with little meat. Also, there was no option for spicy for both entrees. Unsure if I would go back.

Google
Definitely one of our go-to Thai places. We eat here fairly frequently and are always happy with the food. That said… the service can be extremely slow. The last few times I’ve ordered pick up I’ve shown up about 15 minutes after placing my order and still had to wait 20-25 minutes to get my food. I’ve ordered on grubhub and my driver waited for over 35 minutes to get my order. It’s good food, but maybe not worth the wait if you are hungry or in a hurry

Wil Horoshak

Google
Great food my only problem is portion for 35$ I’d expect more from them. I try to go every month because the food is great. Too much noodle not enough protein and vegetable. I recommend the lobster egg rolls the sauce is amazing and Drunken Noodles are great just order extra protein and veggie.

Nicole Green

Google
I have had lunch here at least three times now, and the food has always been great. I've had potstickers and Curry most of the time, and also had spring rolls a couple times. I have never had a bad meal here! And the waitress has always been wonderful and attentive!! It's a small location, but the food packs a great punch!! I've experienced subpar and even bad Thai food before, but never here!

Amy Bill

Google
First time delivery order. Food was so hot it was steaming as I opened it. Pineapple fried rice and chicken wings were delicious! Definitely want to try more items YUM!!

Bayo Ifonlaja (BAYOWORLD)

Google
Got the lunch special red curry and fried rice both with shrimp, and also tried the chicken satay and the thai egg rolls. The red curry and fried rice were both good...however the rice was a little over peppered. The chicken satay and eggs rolls were a little lack luster but they were still alright...peanut sauce was to strong for my taste. But all in all the food was pretty good...I would definitely try this place again but some different items.

Google
This is my favorite Thai spot currently. All the classics with the best prices and quick service. Takeout only and always ready when I get there. Plus the staff is so friendly. Really delicious. I especially love the kimchi cream cheese wontons

Krystil Rose

Google
Wow, I got delivery from here, and was very happy. The kimchi wontons are absolutely delicious! The accompanying sauce was very good as well, seemed to have chilli and citrus zest. The Thom yum soup is very good, a little less sour than some other places I'm used to, but still tasty, with plenty of veggies and a subtle spice.

Alex C.

Yelp
I don't normally leave reviews of average 5-star good places but... i can't believe the lobster egg rolls are real. I don't know if i've ever known true happiness before eating them. Would post a picture but I already stuffed them in my face. If you order anything from this magnificently amazing restaurant -- lobster egg rolls are a must!!!

Dhuna Tenzing S.

Yelp
Very cozy place, good service and good food. I loved going for their lunch special menu and my fav papaya salad.

Sofia A.

Yelp
I came here off a recommendation from a friend and decided to try since I was craving pad thai. Let me just say this is the WORST pad thai I have ever had in my life. Please for the love of god take the pad thai off your menu because it's inedible. I have never had a pad thai I didn't like but this tasted like sweet and like tomatoes. Those were the only flavor notes in this dish. I'm unsure of their house pad thai but I will not risk coming back to try anything else after trying that. I had the spring rolls as an appetizer which were okay except one of them was split open along the side which made it very difficult to eat. If you do make the same mistake as me then you can try to fix it by adding cilantro and green onion. Trust this review and get pad thai somewhere else!

Eddy H.

Yelp
Food was good for the price. I got it to go so cant tell much about the service or Ambiance. The Thom Yum soup is

Brett A.

Yelp
Great food but very run down building. I honestly did not feel sanitary or confident in my foods safety

Ella C.

Yelp
food was incredible! made changes in the online order and they were executed perfectly. staff was very kind. would be fun to dine in, but definitely some amazing takeout.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Might be the best Thai takeout in the city. The pad see ew, red curry fried rice, chicken satay, and panang curry are my favorites. Also don't miss the green sauce! Order one on the side and put it on anything. I like spicy food and usually get a 3 or 4. Employees are cool and friendly, even when they're slammed during busy times. I just wish they offered dine-in! But all of the food travels very well.

Wil H.

Yelp
great food I go there regularly. a little pricy for oriental food you have to order extra protein and extra vegetable because they skimp on that. other than that it's very tasty and they are fast at making your food..

Robyn K.

Yelp
Khao Hom has become my 'go to' for Thai takeout! They're only offering delivery or take away currently (Winter 2022). Sharing my favorites to order: -Fresh spring rolls with Tofu, which are served with a yummy peanut sweet and sour dipping sauce. Pro tip to add a little sriracha if you're into spice! -Cream Cheese Wontons - pro tip to to throw in the air fryer for a quick re-crisping when you get home -Thom Yum Soup - I love heat and spice but I will say a level 2 for me is perfect. I like level 3, but my lips burn after! -Som Yum salad with sticky rice on the side; I personally ask for no dried baby shrimps but the flavors are so good; I again stick with spice level 2 and I promise it still packs a kick -Pad Thai with Chicken - this one you can go hotter on as the sweetness of the peanuts allow for it so I'm suggesting level 3 or 4 -Mango & Sweet Sticky Rice is the perfect way to end your meal!

R K.

Yelp
This is takeout only. You can head over to Fair State brewery with your food, like we did. Still, you are eating with plastic cutlery or cheapo chopsticks, and paper bowls. Of course, the Vegans were happy. And be careful with the spicing. We ordered 2&3 levels. Good drunken noodles!

David N.

Yelp
This is my go-to for Thai in the area. Their panang curry is excellent - exactly what I'm looking for with the perfect consistency to eat with rice - the kind of curry where even if it had no meat or veggies in it I'd still chow down on nothing but it and a bowl of rice and be satisfied. Drunken noodles are also excellent and I'd highly recommend them. Prices are very reasonable for Thai in the Twin Cities and the portions are enough that generally two dishes will feed three of us.

Cassidi C.

Yelp
Large portions! The green curry is absolutely amazing! Egg rolls are delicious as well. Only tried a few things so far, excited to try more.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Good food ! Very popular spot ! Menu is a bit confusing as no explanation for what's in all the dishes however a solid spot any day.

Cole W.

Yelp
Khao Hom Thai Fried Rice = 9/10 Wings = 8.5/10 Egg Rolls = 9/10 Overall 8.8/10 Good service and food, I can't complain will be getting food from here again.

Tommy P.

Yelp
Drunken noodles are amazing. I'd rather order from here than more expensive places cough cough Amazing Thailand. Grew up eating Thai and Lao food and this is in my top 3 restaurants. Especially since I'm not paying $10+ for 2 spring rolls...

Nate M.

Yelp
First time trying this place after seeing a lot of great reviews. I stopped in to order takeout and the guy running the show provided great service. There were constantly delivery drivers stopping to pick up orders among others ordering just like I was. I had my food within 10 minutes and was on my way. I ordered the Red Curry and it was perfectly done. It had just the right amount of spice, and was a large portion. I was solo on this trip, but I would recommend ordering this with some other things to split family style if you have a group. Overall great experience, and I will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Maria S.

Yelp
Great food and kind people. Love love love their red Thai curry spicy level 3. SO GOOD!

Christopher C.

Yelp
The Laab and green curry were fantastic the spring rolls were huge and delightful and the Satay was excellent! All super good; can't wait until they open their dining room!

Jessica N.

Yelp
Khao Hom Pad Thai- aka house pad Thai. Truly so wonderful. The side of iceburg lettuce- to wrap the noodles and meat in is such a good combination. Refreshing with such a savory flavoring on the noodles. Hard to go back to the typical Americanized pad Thai after having this. Also, can't go wrong with their currys! To go orders and easy and prepared properly.

Natalia M.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and called to ask a question first. The person who answered was nice and knowledgeable. The food was just okay. The veggies were cooked to mush and the curry was oily and too sweet. Nothing tasted fresh, but the price wasn't bad.

Heather W.

Yelp
This place is completely delicious- exceeded all my expectations! I had the food pictured- it was all completely well-seasoned/flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Really friendly service. Would love to be back!

Theodore R.

Yelp
Ordered the cream cheese wontons, Pad Thai and the "House" Pad Thai. Pad Thai edges out House Pad Thai House Pad Thai was pretty sad. Just noodles with spice and a cut fried egg on top. Pad Thai was better but same issue. Just tasted hot, not like pad Thai. Slightly tastier. Cream cheese wontons... ABORT. Do not order these. Hardly any cream cheese, barely cooked. Basically a cracker. It was an average order, 2.5/5 and won't be trying this place again.

Sarah B.

Yelp
This is a great find on central in NE. I had the mango dish and it was sooo good. Just what I was craving but could have used a little more spice to it. All the food at our table could have used a little more spice in general and the place itself could use a little cleaning which is the only reason I give this 4 stars. We also had the lobster rolls, shrimp spring rolls, and pork pot stickers - all very good and the best part was each sauce that came with them. YUM! We will be back here or definitely ordering take out. Love a food Thai place and this is closer to our home than others so very glad we found it! Highly recommend if you are a Thai lover as well.

Alice M.

Yelp
I've ordered takeout from here a few times since Khao Hom took over Karta Thai, and have had good experiences! They make their cream cheese wontons fresh in house, and the wrap is a nice thickness for crispiness. Good ratio of wrap to cream cheese as well! I've always gotten curries and they are great! I especially enjoyed the green curry because it has so many different veggies in it. I went with a 3 for spice which was perfect- I tend to like things medium-hot. When I went there tonight, during the COVID-19 shutdown, the staff was very observant of 6 feet social distancing, etc. They seemed a bit slammed and I had to wait outside a bit but it was certainly worth the wait. If you're going during #stayhomeMN or just prefer online transactions instead of via phone, make sure to order through their website. He mentioned that this was the last night they would be open for awhile given the situation, but I certainly hope it's not forever!!

Rachelle N.

Yelp
I've become a frequent visitor to the restaurants on this few block radius the last year or so. My date and I decided to give this place a try awhile back and again recently. Absolutely phenomenal flavor so far on the four curry dishes we've had so far!! It's the best Thai food I've had in a few decades!!! The service?? The guy we seemed to have both visits is really friendly and chatty. He was great at checking on us and the food came out fairly prompt. He did forget to put in the order of Kimchi wontons but our curry dishes pleasantly filled us up. The downside?? I move .9 Miles from here in a few weeks. It will be way too tempting to just eat out instead of cooking at home! (Good thing I'm a fan of supporting local! Ha! That will be my justification and I'm sticking to it!)

Emily K.

Yelp
I ordered the Red Curry and Khao Hom Pad Thai. The portion sizes were decent for the price. The Red Curry was especially tasty! I've been craving red curry since I tried it. I did wish it was a bad spicier though. The Pad Thai was also good but didn't particularly stand out from others I've tried.

Annie N.

Yelp
My experience has only been with their delivery, but I've ordered from them multiple times and they have yet to disappoint food always come well packaged, good portions (each dish at least provides me 2 meals), and decent pricing. My go-to is usually drunken noodles or the khao hom fried rice, which the seasoning and quality is always consistent. Their Thai chicken wings was still crispy on the outside when delivered, and had good flavors and tender meat inside. My good track record with them motivated me to venture out and try a new dish, the khao soi noodle soup, and it was love at first bite. Creamy curry sauce packed with flavor, with tender meat and bouncy egg noodles, and crunch from the vegetables. The curry sauce was neither too watery not dense, and tasted like a hug in minneapolis winter, so now I look forward to exploring the rest of their menu to see what gems I've been missing out on my whole life!!

Emily H.

Yelp
Came for the Khao Soi and was really impressed with my overall experience!! Was seated quickly, service was attentive and friendly, food was phenomenal and the portion was large enough for lunch the next day (one of my favorite bonuses)! Will definitely be back.

Bonnie N.

Yelp
I have my go to Thai restaurants but decided to try something new this time around. My husband and I were not disappointed! The lady at the front sat us right away and she was very attentive. Service was amazing for how busy this restaurant gets. They also get a lot of delivery orders as well which is ALWAYS a good sign. We ordered the papaya salad - the menu only has Thai style, but I like Lao style. The chefs were able to accommodate which made us SUPER happy. It was crispy and fishy...just how I love it. We also ordered chicken laab, tofu pad thai, and shrimp tom yum soup. I loved everything we ordered except for the pad thai. The flavor was a little off to my liking, but I'm probably more pick about pad thai than most people! Overall EXCELLENT service and I will for sure come back again when I'm in the area craving Thai!

Candy T.

Yelp
So far the best Thai food place I have been. We had the best service during the first time of our visit, most likely because there were way less people. I have gotten the papaya salad and the Crispy pork with Chinese broccoli. The papaya salad was so tasty, absolutely loved it. The crispy pork with broccoli was a little lack of favors. The pork was more leaning on the harder side than crispy, and the sauce was tiny bit bland. The curry puff is a must, this was probably the best thing I have gotten from here before. The sauce for the curry puff was super amazing, it was like a mixture of thai sweet & sour with salsa. They made some minor mistakes the second time we went but it was okay, they were getting too busy so that was totally understandable. Would definitely return all the time.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Ordered take out from here for the first time tonight. Really enjoyed the fresh tofu spring rolls. However, the pad thai was not good. Both the noodles and the vegetables were overcooked and mushy and the sauce is just sour - it lacked the sweet, spicy, savory side that balances it out. I ordered the pad Thai very spicy and I couldn't taste any spice at all - none. I got my money back for this one. Not worth it.

Alicia L.

Yelp
I find myself wondering if the owners are the same as the former Karta, or if they just took the space because DAYUM. Also, it may be the fact that I haven't ordered Thai since the pandemic started (I know, I know), but this was a life-giving meal. I ordered the Pad Panang Curry (!). I got to enjoy leftovers the next day and let me TELL YOU: I think I died and came back to life both times I ate this curry. I'm a bit of a curry snob, too. So it often makes it hard to find really *good* Thai, not just okay. This dish is spicy in just the right way. I love spice, but I like to enjoy my food's flavors not just prove my stamina for hot food. I don't even know what else to say about this other than YUMMMMM and I will likely be ordering this again. I ordered takeout through bitesquad. My only negative: I wasn't blown away by the wontons. It's okay though, because the curry saved my soul.

Kaylyn H.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! Tastes very authentic and the portions are big! Their Thai tea is also bomb!!

Gabe S.

Yelp
A bunch of us decided to give this place a try after a recommendation from an acquaintance. Ordered the most generic Thai dishes - pad thai, pad see wu, green curry, and basil fried rice. Pad thai felt too Americanized for me. Too much ketchup and couldn't really savor the dish. Pad see wu, on the other hand, was just right - not too spicy nor not too bland. Basil fried rice was decent as well, but I was craving for water in the end (not because it was spicy, mind you). Lastly, the curry lacked a bit of spiciness, although wasnt much of an issue.

Bethany W.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant and what a wonderful experience they provided! First off, they have multiple COVID friendly ways to get and order food; phone, online, through Yelp, or delivery with Bite Squad. They are doing carry-out only and have protective barriers in place. Staff was so so friendly on a cold Thursday night. Food was right on time. And the portions were HUGE! I ordered the pad Thai with chicken and shrimp spring rolls. It could have easily fed two hungry people, and maybe even 3 moderately hungry ones. I will definitely be enjoying someone leftovers tomorrow night. Can't wait to try new items on their menu!

Kara D.

Yelp
I've been here a few times, and I've enjoyed everything... from their food to their silly server who always has me cracking up. Nothing like giggling over a big bowl of tangy tom yum. Khao Hom Thai is one of the several Thai restaurants in Northeast, located at Lowry & Central. If both these major crossroads don't have available parking, try snagging a free street space on 24th ave. Inside, there's about a dozen tables/booths, but it hasn't been packed when I've visited. Their Tom Yum soup is spot on. Not too salty, not watered down, and it has a great tanginess to it. If you add shrimp, they're large and plump. If you opt for veggies, they'll add an assortment of broccoli, cabbage, snow peas, carrots, mushrooms, and more. I love the pad panang curry too because it's so balanced and rich in flavor. The spring rolls (I choose shrimp) are pretty big -- see photo. They're a little heavy on the iceberg lettuce for my taste, but they taste like they're made fresh to order. The drunken noodles are also a hit with their big chewy flat noodles in a sweet & savory brown sauce. The mock duck looks almost too much like real duck. Last but not least, get the kimchi cream cheese wontons! But most importantly, one of the servers there is so fun and silly and we love to yuck it up with him. I keep asking his name and he jokes that it's "Jackie Chan", but I feel like an a-hole shouting that at him in front of unknowing customers haha.

Jacob R.

Yelp
I have eaten here sporadically via take-out and always liked it (the beef jerky with sticky rice is *chefs kiss*). Last night I tried a few other items and loved it all. If you order the Pad Thai, spend the extra $1 and get the "House Pad Thai"- it is different than the other option, and SO much better! I also tried the cream cheese wontons (YUM) and the pot stickers which I could have easily eaten 100 of them I loved it all.

Nicole H.

Yelp
The Pad Thai was way too ketchupy and there were no bean sprouts. Pretty disappointed tbh. Rip

Laurie G.

Yelp
All I can say is I'm very particular about Thai food & this place is by far the best I've haff lately. The spring rolls were excellent & they honored my request for peanut sauce instead of sweet n sour. I tried the special house lo mein.....yumm, yumm, yummy. No skimping on the food either...I'm pretty sure I'll eat for 3 days on the left overs.

David P.

Yelp
This food and restaurant did everything right. It's refreshing when that happens. Flavor: I got the house pad Thai and let me tell you it was one of the best pad Thais I've ever had in my life. Flavor, color, texture and spices where the perfect combination. Ease of ordering & pick-up: You can order right through the website and it's a breeze. There is parking in the back and around 6pm weekday there were plenty of parking spots. Covid-proof: I do public health work and it was great to see the lengths this place went to to minimize contact even for a quick pickup. Shield/protective glass, you pick up right inside the entrance doors and the food is there waiting for you. What else can you ask for?! Solid 5 star pickup place in my book!

Chloe C.

Yelp
We both had the green curry and it was delicious! I had tofu on mine and my wife had shrimp. It was spicier than we anticipated. We will 100% come back again soon! Just wish we had a bigger order of cream cheese puffs! That was on us. 10/10 recommend.

Kathy M.

Yelp
I was really hoping for good Thai food, but I wasn't very impressed. We ordered the Khao Soi soup with beef and the Karta Thai Special Salad - neither of which are worth going back for. I usually enjoy bold flavors, but the Khao Soi was terribly rich and salty. And, I was disappointed when the salad came out and I saw it was made with iceberg lettuce. The "chef's secret Thai dressing" tasted like a mix of Thousand Island and Italian dressings - it didn't taste very Thai at all. On the up side, the service was good and I enjoyed the semi-open kitchen. The environment is modest and the prices are really reasonable. Just wasn't really my taste.

Carlyn U.

Yelp
The khao soi is great and the 3 heat is great if you want spice, but not set you mouth on fire.

Angie S.

Yelp
I had finally found a new place to try their cream cheese wontons. I knew my boy Jonathan loved this place, so I figured I would give it a try. I already picked up takeout nearby, so I decided to add the appetizer from here. I thought it was strange that on a Sunday afternoon no one was eating inside. Luckily for me that meant I got my food quickly! I will admit, the inside had an indescribable funky smell. The wontons were about ~$5 for 6 pieces. There was about a full tablespoon size of cream cheese inside a thin, yet crispy triangle pocket. The edges were crispy, yet the inside was not mushy or doughy. The taste was sweet and smooth. I would give these a 3.5/5 stars! Definitely worth ordering again, not too heavy or cream cheesy!

Lindsay W.

Yelp
Khao Hom has always done great food, but trying to get takeout or delivery from them has been consistently nightmarish for years. I had hoped that, after avoiding ordering from them for a year and the pandemic putting more focus on pickup, they'd have improved. Not so. The last time we ordered, they estimated 75 minutes to prepare. When the driver showed up, they kept pushing the estimate back, until they finally admitted they hadn't started the food and the driver bailed. After more than two hours and a second delivery driver, they finally got our meal out the door. When it arrived, the "cream cheese wontons" were just fried empty wonton wrappers! The rest of our food - fresh spring rolls, egg rolls, thai beef jerky, and massaman curry - were delicious.

Molly M.

Yelp
So I came in today, ready for a big bowl of Tom-Tom soup on this cold winter day. But-wait a moment-a special of PUMPKIN CURRY? Yes, sign me up! Wow, I am so glad I did! Everything was wonderful about this dish: from the pumpkin chunks to the crunchy snow peas to the fresh basil to the other delicious veggies (tasted fresh-not frozen), not forgetting the curry! Jasmine rice was perfect-even if I only had the curry on it! Yes-I'm warmed up AND I have leftover pumpkin curry to bring home! My waitress scooped up some jasmine rice to home with as well.

Allen H.

Yelp
Okay Thai takeout place. The chicken satay was fine, I liked that it came with two different sauces - peanut sauce and a pickled vegetable sauce. However, the chicken was overcooked and a little bit tough. We also ordered the golden chicken appetizer, which was chicken bites inside a ramen-like breading and came with a sweet and sour sauce. The Tom Yum soup was actually pretty solid, as it came with plenty of vegetables and wasn't overly sour like the Tom Yum at some other Thai places I've been to. I was not a fan of the curry entree that I got - it was super runny and soupy and there was barely any meat at all. I tried mixing it with the rice noodles but it just sat in a depressing puddle on my plate. There are so many decent Thai restaurants around here (at least according to Yelp), so I do not think I will return

Tanya P.

Yelp
There was no communication of how the curbside pick up was to be organized. A sign on what patrons should do would be helpful. The food was okay. We ordered chicken pad thai, a stir fry, spring rolls and the beef jerky appetizer. The spring rolls seemed like they were just thrown together with (I think) lettuce, cucumber and shrimp - I would not recommend them. The pad thai was just okay and same with the stir fry. The beef jerky type appetizer was as expected. Overall, I was expecting better food given the reviews. I was in the neighborhood, but if around here again, would choose somewhere else.

Ro A.

Yelp
I love Thai food, and there are many solid options in the twin cities. I was hesitant to try this spot, as I have two other places that have never let me down. I'm glad that I was convinced to try them anyways. This is now one of my 3 go-to Thai restaurants. I highly recommend the cream cheese wontons, the Pad Panang Curry, the drunken noodles, and any of the fried rice options. Prices and portion sizes are great.

Michael K.

Yelp
I have to give this a neutral rating because the food was (and is always) great. However, customer service isn't judged by they way things are run when everything is going well, it's tested by problems. When I called to report a missing Door Dash item from my order (do not ever use this service for anyone, BTW), the person on the phone took no responsibility for the missing item. Instead she passed the matter onto Door Dash. Door Dash handles refunds in this instance, but the fact remains: nobody at the restaurant took any responsibility for the missing item. (Worse: refunds are treated as DD credits, not back to your credit card, which is unacceptable.)
