Khong Ten is a vibrant farm-to-table Vietnamese gem in West LA, blending local ingredients with a fresh take on traditional flavors in a chic setting.
"Khong Ten, run by longtime catering chef Kim Vu and partner Don Andes, is closing this weekend in West LA. Despite the efforts, including backing from 'Fresh Off the Boat' actor Hudson Yang, the competition from nearby areas made it difficult for the restaurant to sustain itself. The restaurant, located at the former Freddy Smalls space on Pico Boulevard, opened in September 2018 and will have its final day of service on August 3." - Farley Elliott
"The Foodbeast guys stopped by Khong Ten in Los Angeles to try to eat as much of the menu as possible alongside 15-year-old Fresh Off the Boat star (and one of the restaurant’s partners) Hudson Yang." - Farley Elliott
"Khong Ten, a new modern Vietnamese restaurant along Pico Boulevard in West LA. The upscale casual restaurant primarily comes from Kim Vu of Vucacious Catering, and Don Andes, longtime bar owner of places like Little Joy and The Holloway in Echo Park." - Farley Elliott
"Khong Ten is a new restaurant on Pico in West LA that serves modern Vietnamese food. The menu has shared plates like mussels in a red curry sauce, excellent shrimp fritters, and bigger dishes like hoisin beef sirloin. The food is pretty good, but the service was a bit disorganized on our first visit. They also have a nice Happy Hour at the bar, and some cocktails, like the tequila, Campari, orgeat, and pineapple-filled Tropical Affair are great, so there’s potential for this to become a solid neighborhood spot. We’ll be back to see how things shake out." - Jess Basser Sanders
"The casual new modern Vietnamese restaurant that opened along Pico Boulevard. The former Freddy Smalls space has been given a lift thanks to lots of floral print and plush touches, plus a defining golden ceiling. Chef/owner Kim Vu and partner Don Andes held their official opening party last night after some quiet nights serving the neighborhood, and are now fully ready to rock and roll." - Farley Elliott
