"Kilwins, the nostalgia-inducing ice cream shop and candy store chain largely sprinkled along the East Coast, unveiled its first D.C. store on Monday, June 28. The 1,200-square-foot location offers a variety of confections made on-site, including fudge, caramel corn, brittle, bear claws, and marshmallows dipped in chocolate and caramel. The 74-year-old brand plans to plant three more shops across D.C. in the next five years." - Tierney Plumb

"Kilwins, the nostalgia-inducing ice cream shop and candy store chain largely sprinkled along the East Coast, will soon make its D.C. debut with a new store next to Nationals Park. The 1,200-square-foot location will be operated by the same ownership group as Tap99, a pour-your-own beer bar opening next-door around the same time in June. Kilwins plans to plant three more shops across D.C. in the next five years, with a neighborhood wish list that includes Georgetown, the Wharf, Chinatown, and Buzzard Point. D.C. franchisee Jason Cherry (Mission Escape Rooms) hails from Annapolis, where a well-known Kilwins curbs sugar cravings year round. There’s another local location in Alexandria. Along with cooling down customers with loaded ice cream flavors, Nats fans can expect a familiar lineup of chocolates, fudge, caramel apples, and other confections. The brand’s old-timey design full of dark wood finishes will get an update at D.C. stores that plan to incorporate silver-and-gold wallpaper and extravagant light fixtures." - Tierney Plumb

Kilwins Chocolate & Ice Cream is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly made waffle cones and chocolate. The shop is immaculately clean, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. The ice cream is incredibly creamy and rich, with a wide variety of flavors that will satisfy any craving. I tried the salted caramel and the toasted coconut, and both were phenomenal. The chocolates and fudge are also top-notch—decadent, smooth, and bursting with flavor. What sets Kilwins apart is the quality of their ingredients and the care they put into making each treat. You can watch them make the confections right in the store, which adds a fun and engaging element to the experience. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Kilwins is a must-visit spot. It's the perfect place to indulge your sweet tooth and enjoy a bit of nostalgia with their classic confections. Highly recommend!

I was able to go to Kilwins the with my friends visiting from Boston and his sister. We went to blue jacket right down the road for dinner and said is this something sweet. As soon as you walk in you get hit with the smell of fine chocolate and ice cream. Can't lie, I haven't have ice cream like this in a while. My friends we pretty impressed. I will be back. It's was awesome to try the samples as well.

Really nice candy, fudge, ice cream shop. Reminds you of the fudge stores on a boardwalk down the shore. Employees always very friendly and offer samples to try. Definitely pop in, there's bound to be something sweet here that will catch your eye (Carmel apples, dark chocolate pretzels, dipped marshmallows etc.)

I was actually on my way to Cold Stone, but saw Kilwins and decided to stop in because of the delicious smell. There was a couple in front of me tasting/ordering and only one employee in the front at the time. I was not greeted or asked if I wanted to taste anything for about 4 mins/when another employee came out. So I had to knock off 1 star for lack on customer service. Other than that, I ordered the cake batter ice cream and it was delicious. It wasn’t like traditional cake batter and had pieces of cake and chocolate which I loved. I would definitely come back, but I hope the customer service is better next time.

Love this sweets shop! Every holiday I themed treats made for my preschool class. The manager and his team get super creative and design something special for the kids. The little ones just love them and now ask if they’re getting the special chocolates every year.
