Kimo's

Kimo’s is hands down the best restaurant in Rockaway, no debate. The ambiance alone is worth the visit because it legit feels like you walked into Greece and Egypt at the same time. I really felt so comfortable here. The food is where it really shines though. I got the Chicken Souvlaki Bowl and I’ve had souvlaki plenty of times but this one is different. The chicken is so juicy and well seasoned it’s hard to go back to anywhere else. My friends got The Stacker and the Thick Chick, which are loaded fries with their homemade fried chopped chicken, white sauce and chipotle mayo. We were all picking off each other’s plates, that’s how good it was. Service was amazing!!, staff were super nice, and the whole experience just felt right. This was easily the highlight of my Rockaway trip and I’m already looking forward to coming back this summer. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I was really disappointed with my experience at Kimos Kitchen. The spices on the pita were so overbearing and piled on so heavily that they completely took over the taste of the food. It was impossible to enjoy anything else because all you could taste was the seasoning. On top of that, the restaurant itself smelled like dirty, old oil—and unfortunately, that smell translated directly to the food. The fries tasted like they were fried in old, unclean oil, which made them pretty much inedible. Overall, not a good experience and not somewhere I’d return to. I’m genuinely surprised by this response. My review reflected my personal experience with the food and parking — nothing more. Constructive feedback is part of running any business, and I shared mine . Instead of addressing the concerns, the response became personal and hostile, which unfortunately reinforces my original disappointment. I support family-owned businesses and had hoped for a more professional reply. I’ll let others read both my review and the owner’s response and decide for themselves.

We are so excited that we discovered Kimo’s. The food is delicious and fresh, and they have a great menu, and even had homemade Greek orange cake when we were there, which is a huge plus for us as we love it! And we really appreciate the fact that it is a family owned and run restaurant and they were super friendly when we were there. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Wow!!! This is the best salad I’ve ever had! The mixed greens were fresh!! Crispy! Variety of mixed greens kale spinach- what a great idea. I ordered a side of lamb and beef meatballs- full of flavor and paired perfectly. Also came here for the bowls and tried all the other options of meats, chicken, pita, sides available- always 100% food and service!

Not fresh and didn’t taste good. Good a bowl with steak that didn’t taste fresh and good, and huge tomatoes that haven’t been diced properly. Forced myself to finish it because didn’t want to waste meal that is not cheap. I had ordered cucumbers in the bowl and they didn’t include it. A was a very plain bowl with rice meat and tomatoes and paid $52 (with two coffees and desert). Not sure how this place has 4.8 reviews, so deceitful.

Kimo’s is such a great spot by Rockaway Beach. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service is amazing everyone’s super friendly and welcoming! They always give great filling portions as well! The owner is really cool! Great vibes and atmosphere, definitely one of my favorite spots !! They have an amazing place to sit and eat outside in the back, definitely recommend if you're in this area!

Wonderful food !! We had the bowls and they were absolutely delicious. We also got the baklava but what really stole the show is their homemade Dubai chocolate bars which the owner makes himself and it was delicious 😋

The food came cold, the fries were not fully cooked, there was hardly any chicken ony gyro. I'm so disappointed in this meal and the waste of $. I called and spoke to manager I was kind, he was polite, however I realize I got horrible, cold food because they were having a busy day and they were "behind " because of being so busy. I won't even write about the dessert. The Lemonades were even warm... I wasn't offered a refund, i got an apology, but it was my first and last time ordering from this restaurant with such wonderful reviews.The only good thing I can say is that vegetables were fresh.

Kimo's food is excellent and their service outstanding. During the summer this is a family staple for lunches outdoors. We have enjoyed their Mediterranean food year round a full recommend the experience

I got the Thick Chick and surprisingly really liked it. I must admit I thought I ordered a pita wrap but wasn't mad about receiving a chicken sandwich While I often crave chicken sandwiches, they don't always make me feel the best. This one, however, both tasted great and didn't feel super unhealthy. The chicken was quite crispy on the outside while still being juicy, and had great flavor. My only food-related complaint is it felt small. In terms of service, you order from the front and they bring the food out to you. There's a couple of tables inside but a much larger outdoor eating area in the back. I did feel the service was quite slow for how few customers there were, and disappointed that the one restroom was out of order.

The place was not much to look at and was cramped inside. However, it does have a nice outside area that was relaxing. I ordered the falafel mahshea which is falafel stuffed with eggplant and harissa for myself. For my son I ordered the pita with steak shawarma, baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, beet salad, white sauce and Tahini The food was 5/5 and was very tasty. I have never had falafel stuffed with harissa and eggplant. The crust was crunchy and the filling was soft and delicious. My son ate his pita sandwich. I tried some of it and loved it. You order the food at the counter and the food is brought to you. The only negative is was the service. One of the workers was complaining about closing the door when leaving the outside area. I had chairs, an umbrella, bag and my son in tote. The time spent complaining he could have closed the door since he was a foot away from it. I would visit again for the wonderful food!

Great place to get some food after the beach. Good food, good service and the large patio Outback has plenty of space. Also half the patio (shared) has sand which is fun.

Imagine chipotle but Mediterranean with tons of different options for wraps, bowls and entrees. We ordered a bowl and a wrap each with the option of making the wrap a deluxe with fries. The food is available for eat-in and take out. We chose to eat in and were served the food. On a cold day, the indoor seating was nice but quiet. The two working up front were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. For a smaller place, bathrooms tend to be overlooked but the bathroom at Kimo was so nice and clean, an absolute plus.

We love Kimo's Kitchen! It's the perfect place to get a post surf lunch :) The food is amazing!!

Kimo's is hands down the best place in Rockaway to stop in for an amazing freshly prepared vegetarian meal after a surf session. Their falafel sandwich is absolute perfection, and their fries are very addicting. Kimo's is a local family owned and operated business where you will be made to feel at home and welcome. I actually became friendly with the family as they noticed that my first name was Kareem, and told me that "Kimo" is actually a nickname for the owner's son Kareem. If you find yourself in Rockaway, do yourself a favor and stop in at Kimo's

We spent the day at Rockaway Beach and stopped by Kimo's for lunch. The restaurant was small, but they had cute outdoor seating in the back! We ordered a Pita and Bowl at the register and they brought the food out to us in the back. The wait for the food was a little long. Bowl: The Marinated Grilled Chicken was salty and a little dry. However, we really enjoyed the Baba Ganosh and Hummus. We did wish the bowl came with more toppings. Note: We both got awful stomach aches an hour or two after eating the food. At that point, Kimo's was the only thing we ate so we're not sure if the meal is what caused it.

Food was delish! Staff was lovely! Backyard was sublime.... So a happy this option exists in Rockaway.

Kimo's is a 5 Star Gem & a Top spot for Falafel. Walking to my car in a public parking about a block away I decided on lunch before driving home from visiting a friend by the beach. After a short walk I stumbled upon this place about a block away beside an icecream shop that I frequent. I'm passing I noticed that Kimo's usually has a line and now I know why. Walking in the owner politely greeted me and I walked in and found the "Gyro of MY Dreams". No really. A Fat Boy. A Chicken Gyro with Homemade fries that came with 2 different options. I HAD to have it! I ordered it with lettuce and tomatoes and Oh My my my.... After placing my order I decided to walk around and checked out the back yard space which was beautiful. It had a plant wall and a mural of the dessert with camels. There was plenty of space to sit family style and it was clean. Coming back inside they have super fresh EVERYTHING. Dessert, toppings, foods that I have yet to experience and name, Baklava. Then I was awarded with the cinematic view of my gyro being constructed and got to chatting with the owner. Come to find out his two young daughters work with him (one at the register, and one manning the grill) a Family Business- how dope. He boasted the BEST #1 Falafel and after going home and taking down that gyro- I just can't see him being wrong. You ever bite into something and then pause... The sauce was homemade- I repeat The Sauce Was Homemade. I can't even explain they melange of flavors - It was literally AMAZING. There was a sauce on the chicken and then the white sauce chefs kiss! I have to just back to find out what was in it. I was like where has this place been all my life?!! I grew up in FarRockaway so to see and taste this authentic Mediterranean food makes my heart full. Healthy, Fresh, Tasty nothing beats Kimo's.

The fat boy gyro was good , the fries are good and the white sauce taste good , the felafel was excellent too

If you're in the Rockaway Beach area and craving Mediterranean/Greek food you MUST try Kimo's. They offer classic Mediterranean dishes. My go to is a bowl (which you customize) with Moroccan rice and whatever other toppings I feel that day. I'm not going to tell you what you should get, but there hasn't been anything I disliked. Everything has always been fresh and flavorful. So you really can't go wrong with anything you order. I will say you MUST try the Falafels though, they are the best Falafels I've ever had.

We ordered the lamb shank which came with rice and salad. We also got a couple of desserts to try. The food is very good. Staff is very pleasant. There is little room to sit inside and it was too cold to go outside. So, we took the food to go.

I've eaten here twice and would not go back. The second time I went was just to make sure the first time was not a fluke. Even the French fries were bad.

Food was so good and they are dog friendly! I think our favorite was the stackers though everything we got was good. Really friendly staff as well!

If I could give this a zero stars I definitely would! Worst experience ever. This restaurant has the rudest employees ever and they started getting aggressive if you do not order quickly. I didn't even get a chance to look at the menu and they are so quick to say are you going to order or not. Not to mention the owner was not much help because rather than correcting his employees, the owner defends the rude comments and sees it as justified. Never again will I set foot here. DO NOT BUY!! Got food poisoning after eating here. Food was not cooked well and I'm certain the employees do not wash their hands NASTY RESTAURANT!!

Overpriced food for rude and disgusting service does not go well together , while they treat there customers like they don't need us they rush you to order and make you feel out of place while trying to get some food I would not recommend.

owner JAVED won't take accountability for what he said to an elder disabled black woman. I believe your words were "well you dont have to buy it" after showing slight shock to your pricing. Next bc she was taking her time ordering (PROBABLY THINKING ABOUT WHAT SHE WANTED) your words were"are you going to order something or not". All in all horrible customer service from the owner himself. What's even worse is when called by a family member concerned of said woman, he was asked if it was him and he said "oh yea, it was me. I stand by what I said". Meaning he felt okay to disrespect not only a costumer but an elderly. Absolutely disgusting. And I'm curious that if it didnt happen why the owner is suddenly limiting comments on kimos social media page, blocking the womans family who wants nothing more but for him to take accountability of his actions and words said to another. All in all this is a great way to run your business to the ground. FIX YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE And you can tell by how the owner replies to all his bad reviews that he is straight unprofessional.

Great food and nice outdoor area to eat. Food came fast and service was friendly. I got the build your own bowl and the falafel was very good.

They have a slogan on the backs of the employees shirts--"The best gyros in Queens." That's a bold assertion--and it's absolutely true. The choices of proteins, toppings, and sauces seems limitless. We ordered a lamb souvlaki with eggplant and a vegan gyro. Superb.

I love the various gyros with meats or veggie options, salads and sauce, plus the gourmet iced drinks! and the desserts esp Chocolate Layer Cake.!!! Kill me now !! Love it !!! Very nice staff. Mike is a genuine Mediterranean Dude !

Kimos is a hidden gem a few minutes away from the beach! Simply stated, Kimo's serves the best Mediterranean food I've ever eaten. Though I don't live in the area, I'm excited to head back to Rockaway Beach mainly for another chance to eat here :) I recommend ordering a bowl and trying their falafel! If you're a pickle person, please do yourself the favor of ordering them on whatever you decide - they serve the best pickles I've ever had. 10/10 experience for sure!

I'm being taken on a tour of the rockaways and very impressed with the town so far. We stopped at Kimo's for delicious heaping plates of middle eastern selections, with an additive spicy sauce that you can't forget about. Wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood!

The food was so delicious and the staff was so nice! They let us have dogs on the back porch which was great! Would definitely recommend coming to this great spot!

Authentic in flavors and downright fresh ingredients. Went for a bike ride to visit my friend pet shop next door and never noticed this great little places tucked away on the block next to the ice cream shop. I love middle eastern foods bc of the flavors. They do make their falafels with favs beans instead of chickpeas. The Fattoush Salad so good and you can tell he uses high end ingredient bc you can see their is Bibb lettuce red leaf baby spinach etc. the pickled onions are to die for and the zataar bread with the falafel platter is delicous. Next time I go I'm ordering the lamb shank!

This food is good enough to make me crave it all week and drive from brooklyn as they were closing to get it again. Super friendly owner and staff. I will happily be coming back very soon.

Love the food and the family ( everyone pitches in here)! Can't decide what is my favorite entree because everything is wonderful. I try and order a little different each time. Custom designed ( your choice) platters, bowls or pita's are satisfying and so filling. Everything is super fresh and made to order. Tried the amazing stuffed felafel with feta and olives last time in a bowl and can't stop thinking about it. Excellent size portions,I have to start saving 1/2 my meal to have room for delicious homemade desserts. You will definitely enjoy. Beautiful back yard with ample seating areas a must in nice weather.

Solid Rockaways Mediterranean spot with healthy options and rich savory options. The mezze plate was a great way to sample the falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, and fatoosh! The time from ordering to delivery at the backyard tables was a very relaxed pace of about a 15min preparation- so don't expect a speedy meal- but rather a freshly prepared meal with love.

Evwerything is great, but try the thick chick sandwich.

Been here 12 yrs and Rockaway's never had that many great food options still, but this was a decent grab and go (or dine in). Although expensive for here.

Quite a while back I had ordered from this establishment through Uber Eats. The order was taking over an hour and a half and I called and complained a few times and I wound up canceling the order. I just try to order again tonight and they rejected my order. I was ordering $55 worth of food, I myself own a restaurant and if that was to happen to one of my customers, I would've been happy that they called again instead this owner chose to be confrontational. I don't know how he has five stars. Like I said confrontational!

Grilled Greek Pita with Marinated Grilled Chicken. Feta Cheese, Fried Onions and Spring Mix topped with White Sauce. Awesomesauce! Literally the only items I order. Sometimes the Sweet potato fries. But this Greek Pita is pure addiction!

We came here on a Sunday for lunch shortly after it opened at 12pm. It was a hot day during summer. We ordered and paid at the counter, then went to sit in their courtyard at the back. They have a nice set up, with both bench tables for groups, and individual deck chairs with sand, that makes you feel like you're in a tropical setting. The wait for our food was a bit long, considering we were in a fast casual place, and we were the only ones there. When it came, the food was excellent. I got the bowl, with a lentil base and falafel protein. The falafel was excellent, crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. It's one of the best that I've had in New York. My husband's chicken shawarma pita was similarly delicious. It was covered in a thick tahini sauce, with crumbles of feta that paired well with the chicken. We've eaten here twice now after visits to Rockaway Beach. Would recommend for take out or a casual sit in meal.

Not worth it at all. I went my parents went My sister and her husband went Nobody liked but wanted to try for themselves . But the flavored are meh, I sampled a meatball really Blend . And much better places out there .

I feel bad giving Kimo's place 3 stars, because it's absolutely the type of place I'd love to support, and I'll definitely give it another shot. However, I ordered delivery tonight and the hawawshi was incredibly dry - both the dough and the meat - and didn't have much flavor. It tasted overcooked and stale. Delivery also took longer than it should have (which is a Grubhub issue), so that may have contributed to it. Either way, it was disappointing. The stuffed falafel, on the other hand, was great.

Jake and I have come here on a few occasions now and would rate it 5 stars every time. Today, after a morning surf session, we were craving something not too heavy but completely satisfying and Kimo's fit the bill. We ordered the chicken shawarma and the beef shawarma and sat on the back patio. The food was absolutely delicious; warm pita, well-seasoned, lots of flavor. The patio is shaded, has several beautifully made picnic tables, and is very clean. Apart from the awesome food, we are most impressed by the people that work there. The staff take great care of you and you can tell Chef Mike takes pride in his cuisine. If you're in the neighborhood this place is a must try! And try the Fatboy Pita, you won't be disappointed! Same goes for the falafel!

Just walked out of Kimo's very happy and very full. We had their Falafel in a pita bread and they were delicious. The first thing we noticed was that it's clear everything is made fresh in house. The falafel had a nice crunch on the outside and the inside was just a perfect consistency and so very flavorful! I highly recommend you check out Kimo's after a surf session or day at the beach and chill out in the backyard. Surrounded by their home grown veggies, spices and mint.

Delicious food, tasty mix of Arabic and Greek food. Warm and friendly service and very nice outdoor sitting area in the backyard. We tried Chicken gyro bowl and Adana kebab bowl with Moroccan rice and delicious Moroccan mint lemonade! We took delicious Galaktouboureka dessert to enjoy it at home.
