An intimate, unpretentious locale for Asian, French & international flavors, plus ramen for lunch.
"Less than two months after popular New Orleans ramen shop Kin made a surprise shift to selling fried chicken, citing rising food costs, owner Hieu Than has announced he and his partners are calling it quits. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Than, who operated Kin alongside Gabriel Cambel and Ron Nevels, says that he wants to “take some time now, for me,” adding that “the losses from these two years have made me see only the most basic sense of nourishment in food. There is very little joy left.”" - Clair Lorell
"Citing nearly two years of repeated losses related to the pandemic, Hurricane Ida, and multiple break-ins, New Orleans’s beloved ramen-turned-fried-chicken restaurant has closed." - Clair Lorell
"Kin converted its ramen for lunch/fine dining for dinner model to all ramen, all the time, and that is a very good thing for the city of New Orleans. The chefs use pork and beef bones for the pork and brisket bowls, respectively, and whole chickens to make the chicken broth. They also make their noodles in house, which is pretty rare. Kin also offers a vegan ramen on its regular menu. Every bowl of ramen that comes out of Kin’s tiny kitchen rates as of some of the most thoughtful bowls of soup in town." - Nora McGunnigle, Eater Staff
"Ramen lovers adore Kin, which dishes bowls of umami-laced spicy noodles spiked with the likes of pork belly and local shrimp. Pay a charge of $10 per bottle of wine or liquor, but there’s no charge for beer, which the chefs says pairs best with his menu. Closed Sundays and Mondays for the summer." - Beth D'Addono
