Highlights

King Dough serves up some of Indy’s best vegan pizza with a delicious crust and a chill outdoor patio, though it could benefit from more vegan options.

"You’ll find traditional pizza options at King Dough, but they also top pizzas with signature sauces like hot honey and source seasonal ingredients from local farmers for specials. When you dine in or on their patio, grab a drink from their huge selection of local beers and wine, or order a cocktail or frozen drink on special." - Mike Gillis

Google
Came in from out of town looking for some wood fired pizza. Atmosphere was good over all. Only complaints were tables were a tad cramped, sun was blinding through the windows (I’d recommend tint). Service was superb. Our server was Jake. He did very well. Host was cheerful, an even stopped by to ask how things were. Food was very good. Nice char on outside of crust. I wish I had cooked a tad longer though because my middle still was very floppy. The most negative on food was the cheese sticks. They had sugar on them. Very weird. A cup of Nacho cheese is $2 bucks!! I do wish they had regular black olives. Overall though, extremely good pizza. An added plus is they had GF option for the wife. Best she’s ever had.

Google
Service: 2/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: 2.5/5 Vegan Options: 2/5 Overall: The Hive Mind w/ cashew ricotta is the best vegan pizza I've had in town since WB Pizza closed in 2020. Highly recommend giving it a try. Further: Service-Service fell a little short of what was expected. We weren't provided plates with our pizza at first, and our drinks weren't refilled in a timely manner. The water pitcher for the table at least gave us water in between refills. Quality-The strongest point of the visit. The Hive Mind was delicious. We loved it! The pizza dough was good enough to eat by itself, but combined with the fusion of toppings it was a treat! Value- It's not the most expensive vegan pizza I've had, but not the cheapest either. Marked down slightly because because building your own pizza is more expensive. Vegan Options- The restaurant had 2 vegan options on the menu, and they were clearly labelled. Additionally you could build your own pizza. To be rated more highly I would have liked to see additional vegan items to choose from on the menu, since building your own pizza doesn't cover an 18" pizza, and the build your own pricing is even worse on value. Also other pizza places have vegan breadsticks/garlic sticks/cheese sticks. This was notably missing here. Pros: best vegan pizza in town, large outdoor patio Cons: could use more vegan options pre-built. , no vegan breadsticks/cheese sticks/garlic sticks

The ambience, the service and the food are incredible. This is a must place to try in Indianapolis. Must order - hot honey sesame wings - cheese pizza - destroyer pizza

Google
This is such a fantastic place to go to! The salads are the best I have ever had, and the pizza was terrific! , the staff are wonderful and friendly. Great atmosphere. They make it easy to become repeat customers!

Google
I have been to King Dough several times. Each time the food and service are top notch. How many pizza places have truffle fries, not enough if you as me. But King Dough does and they are both amazing.

Latrisha Ann Maxwell

Google
Probably my favorite vegan pizza in Indy! I like that it doesn’t necessarily look like vegan pizza. They changed their cheese to hive mind and I think it has made a world of difference! Veganized “The Destroyer” this time and it did not disappoint!

Shela Montenegro

Google
The truffle fries are to die for! They have great quality pizza and very friendly servers.

Google
Love King Dough! Pizzas are decent but the appetizers are where it's at! Sticky sticks are basically mozzarella sticks but the breading is so crispy and the basil is such a nice touch. Caesar salad is very good. Hot sesame wings are 11/10 good! Highly recommend! Meatballs (not pictured) also very good appetizer. Can't go wrong with King Dough's apps!

Yelp
My family and I ended up walking over here for dinner after attending the Cheese & Wine Festival in the area. The place looked packed and we thought we were going to have a wait. It must've been our lucky night because we were seated immediately. There are quite a few different types of pizzas and some appetizers as well. We ordered some wings and Parmesan truffle fries, and for pizzas my girls had their classic cheese and Mi Amor and I ordered the Stinky Pete. Everything (wings and fries) came out within 30 minutes which was great because my 7 year old was "starving". The fried were crisped to perfection, everyone enjoyed the wings although I personally didn't find anything special about them. Now the pizzas......amazing. The dough was the thickness I love and must've been cooked in a wood fire oven based on the way the crust browned. The only thing lacking is the crust, for me, didn't have any real flavor but the toppings on top packed enough to make it enjoyable. The windows were open so you got to have the feeling of sitting outside without actually being outside which was nice. The staff was very friendly and gave their favorite recommendations on pizza which was nice, although I had peeked at the menu prior to so I already had an idea what I wanted. We all agreed we would come back again even though it's very loud inside.

Yelp
This spot has amazing pizza and even better meatballs! We ordered the grape and Gorgonzola pizza, and it's definitely intense in flavor--if you're a fan of Gorgonzola, you'll love this one. The meatballs are a standout too; they don't taste like your typical Italian meatballs, instead delivering a rich, beefy flavor that's a refreshing change. I'll definitely be dreaming about those meatballs! The service was top-notch as well. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The open layout of the restaurant added a nice touch, making it feel welcoming and relaxed. A fantastic experience all around!

Yelp
Definitely a top 5 pizza place in Indy for me. Best mozz sticks I've had. The spicy honey adds a great flavor. I prefer going well done on the pizza so the middle doesn't get too floppy. The ranch... an absolute must for dipping. Get there early cause it can be a 30+ minute wait on weekends.

Amin S.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday afternoon pre Christmas week. Not much crowd. Great and prompt service with a reasonable priced pizza. I ATE ALL OF IT! Would I return? Easily yes

Aaron R.

Yelp
Had to change my rating to five stars. After having some boof lows pizza last night, I knew I'd need something good or soon I'd start to get sick. I needed my pizza fix it was clear so I went to where I knew we could get the purro, the near east side. Lol Really though the gluten free is like an 8.5 the best around for sure.

Courtney N.

Yelp
The owner describes King Dough Indy as a "vibrant patio pizzeria..." and I second that. I fancy myself a pizza connoisseur, and King Dough is easily a new favorite. With an exciting, fun, "spunky" decor, King Dough welcomed my son and I in for what would be an incredible experience. The service was amazing, & it's always a sign of great food to come when the service is this good, an even better sign when the smells greet you at the door. We ordered two orders of wings- hot honey sesame and buffalo, the buffalo was a traditional hot but not overwhelmingly spicy-- juicy. The hot honey sesame was different- the sesame was the leading flavor, and I'm not sure that I loved them. We ordered a large pep-- delicious, my kiddo said this is a new favorite. They only offer 2 crust styles - their original and a gluten-free option. We had the original and it was delicious. We will absolutely revisit and I certainly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great pizza place.

Yelp
This restaurant transports you to Brooklyn! I loved it! I've been trying to find a brick oven style pizza in Indy for a bit and this pizza was delicious! They're located near Smoking Goose so they have some fresh topping options from there. The inside has some high tops, low tops, TVs, and a separate bar area. They have fun, unique wines (that unfortunately are only by the bottle so I didn't get the chance to try any) and they have featured wines on Wednesdays. I do wish they had glass options of the more unusual wines. They do have specials on other days as well so check out their website! BE AWARE - they charge $3 for a side of ranch and have no problem not mentioning the extra cost, which I think is rude and should have be communicated. The patio is very lively and I hope to sit there next time when it's not raining. I look forward to trying more of their menu items soon

Cheyenne S.

Yelp
I still think about this pizza... and it's been months since I've been back. I got the Destroyer and it was the BEST pizza I have ever had, hands down. Their beer options are delicious as well (at least the ones I tried). Service is quick and friendly, it's pricey but they load it with toppings so evens out?? I will be coming back!!!

Sherri S.

Yelp
Place and area is trendy but the staff is rude and the food is meh. Jacks Pizza is much better. 3 visits, 3 different meals and 3 disappointments. Won't be back.

Emi M.

Yelp
I loved my first visit to King Dough. It is in a residential area and it was not under my radar- I'm glad I know about it now. This is a place should bring a lot of appetite. I couldn't pick just one item, so I ordered a small Margherita pizza and 8 piece hot honey chicken wings. I read some people were unhappy with the time it takes for pizza, but I don't feel the wait was long at all. I also loved their unsweetened peach tea. It's unique that it is the only kind of iced tea they have. Margherita pizza was average, and I wished there were a bit more of sauce and cheese. but my wings were GREAT. They had the right amount of kick to them and are so addicting. I am not a huge pizza person, but I can see myself coming back here for just those wings. They are that good. Next time I want to try their truffle fries. The service was attentive and so friendly! I loved the space as well. Spacious and cozy.

Sam C.

Yelp
Pizza was ok. Not bad for a vegan pizza. The wings were not good imo. Drenched in buffalo sauce and the chicken was tough. I hate when the meat is not tender makes you not want to eat it. Maybe less sauce and figure out a way to get the wings tender.

Yelp
Visited King Dough Indianapolis location, located on the northwest corner of Michigan Pl and N Highland Ave, just south of E Michigan St (one way westbound street). The decor inside and the covered outdoor patio with plants growing up it and on it is pretty cool, feels very inviting. Unfortunately, other than that, I didn't get the same vibe throughout the visit. King Dough wasn't very busy the night I went in, just about every table inside was available and about half the tables outside were available in the patio area. Prior to stopping in at King Dough we checked out the menu that's available on Google. Some of the party didn't feel like pizza, so were looking forward to some Sticky Stix and Truffle Fries, or just the Order of Fries. Welp, when we asked for an order of fries, or Truffle Fries, we were rudely informed that they don't serve fries. We quickly looked through King Dough's digital menu via scanning the table's qr code, making sure to select Indianapolis as the location. It was showing as an option, again we were rudely told fries aren't sold here. Okay then, we just went with the Sticky Stix and a build-your-own pizza. As an out-of-towner I probably took a little more time ordering the build-your-own pizza than the locals and I wasn't aware that half and half pizzas were politely declined. My party and I werew informed though, albeit it wasn't politely declined. We were aggressively told they don't do that. No problem, but making me feel like a loser wasn't very kind . Oh well, ended up order two pizzas, they were both good. I also had a beer, the Red Ale from Centerpoint Brewing Company which was also good. One more thing, the Sticky Stix that we were served didn't really look like the Sticky Stix that were pictured in the menu. The actual Sticky Stix that were were served kinda looked liked frozen mozzarella sticks. Oh ya, we also ordered the marinated olives and you sure do get a lot, and they were delicious. Would I go back to King Dough again? I dunno. I'd like to say yes but still not sure yet.

Mia T.

Yelp
I cannot believe how long it's taken me to try King Dough but they now have a new regular! (Me ‍) I happened to go on a Tuesday when they were running a special for a salad and 14" pizza for $30. I split this with my friend and we were full before we finished everything. It was perfect! We got the margerhita pizza and the house salad which was full of flavor and filling! I'm not much do a salad person but the house salad was delicious. We sat out on the patio and it was such a relaxing way to spend the evening. A slight mishap occurred when my friend accidentally knocked the table and we lost a few slices. The staff were so kind and gave us a few slices free of charge to make up for it. Our waitress was lovely and even though it was a busy evening on the patio we were never waiting too long. I'm already craving the pizza again and am looking forward to stopping back in again soon!

Abigail C.

Yelp
Our friend has allergies and King Dough offers gluten and garlic free pizza. The pizza and the Sticky Stix with honey were tasty. You cannot order halves ingredients on one side of the pizza. It says this on the menu which is a QR code on the table. The food was good but our service was slow and we were never asked if we want dessert or another beverage.

A G.

Yelp
The flavors in the pizzas are excellent. Wish the crust had a slight crisp to it instead of being totally saggy. Okay for some kinds but they do thin crust. Needs a bit more substance to the crust. Breadsticks were weird and not good.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Stopped in here late on a Saturday. Really cool vibe. Had a couple of beers and cocktails while waiting for our table. Forgot to get pics of our apps but the the sticky cheese sticks were bomb!!! Also had the meatballs. The pizza choices were intriguing and delicious. The crust amazing. King of doughs is right!

David C.

Yelp
After numerous recommendations from friends I finally had the chance to stop by King Dough and I can see why they love this place. The Pizza was great and the music playlist they had was a great change from what I usually hear at most restaurants.

James S.

Yelp
I just love the wood fired oven pies from both of these locations! Super thin crusts that have a nice char and the pepperonis are top shelf. The kind that kinda cup up n are crispy. So happy there is one in Carmel now.

Jennessa S.

Yelp
Fantastic! Love the vibe, Love the staff, Love the dough! This place was recommended by my Uber driver and he did not disappoint! The drinks were so good! And honestly unexpected for a pizza joint. This place is kind of in a neighborhood, so the chill vibe keeps going, and I liked it! There's Indoor and outdoor patio seating and at night the trellis is lite up with some bistro lights. If I'm ever in town again I'd go back!

Sara S.

Yelp
Overall we had a good dinner and will come back. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. It was a little too chilly to sit outside, but the patio looked like a great place to sit. We started with a chicken Cesar salad, which was fine, and truffle fries which we really liked. The destroyer pizza was also delicious! Our waitress was very nice but brought a pizza box and our check before we were finished eating or asked for it. I had been planning to order dessert, but didn't end up doing it because it kind of felt like we were being rushed out.

Alea S.

Yelp
Outstanding pizza! We sat on the patio and had really kind waitress who was helpful and gave recommendations.

Dan Z.

Yelp
The pizza was amazing. If you are looking for "not your regular slice of pizza" King Dough is a great spot. They have plenty of different toppings and options and they make it right there in front of you. The server was kind enough to take some time and explain the menu since this was our first time. It's a small spot, so we had about a 25 minute wait. We had drinks at the bar, so it wasn't bad at all. This is a great place for some real good pizza

Joseph D.

Yelp
If you haven't eaten here yet you owe it to yourself to come try their pizza. The shocking part was how good their app are. We tried the sticky sticks and the wings. Both great. Matt the bartender was shaking up some dun drinks and i recommend you sit at the bar.

Tera R.

Yelp
Host was super friendly, sat us right away on a Sunday afternoon. Our server, Sydney was so friendly and helpful. We ordered the Greco salad less the onion and olives, then had the margarita added capicola and ricotta. Tried the pink moon and honeybee cocktails. Everything was delicious. The salad has a lovely lemon basil vinaigrette. The pizza was what I was craving. The music playing was good alternative and mostly female singers, maybe exclusively female. Will definitely be back and will bring friends.

Teah R.

Yelp
After months and months of hearing how amazing King Dough was - I finally got to try it! I can concur that it was pretty great. I loved the patio space and atmosphere. It really enhanced the experience! I didn't take a peak inside but I'm sure it's a vibe. We went on a Tuesday which is the perfect day to go. They have a meal deal that consists of a large salad and a pizza for $30, how could we pass that up!? I shared the margherita (add pepporoni) and a chicken caesar salad meal deal with my friend. It was so so good. I think the only critique I have is that the crust is too floppy and I wish they added more basil! I like my pizza to be a little more sturdy. This, however, will not dock any points from the experience. Our waitress was great and able to provide suggestions when needed or asked. Overall, 10/10 establishment and experience.

Jacob C.

Yelp
Always a great time at King Dough! Had two orders of Sticky Stix (hot honey mozzarella sticks) and an 18" Big Boy . Delicious! $5 draft beer on Thursdays with a decent selection of local brews.

Alesha M.

Yelp
The food is always scrumptious and creative. The service is always wonderful even when rushed. The patio vibes are on point for summer.

Taylor W.

Yelp
A very classic and solid pizza. We got the Margherita and pepperoni pizzas. No frills, just the classics and the classics done right. This is a really solid neighborhood spot in a great location. I'll definitely be back! I can't wait to sit on their fantastic patio!

Vanessa J.

Yelp
If you've ever wondered where all the hipsters go for pizza, this is it! They play good tunes, have plenty of Vegan and Veggie-friendly options, and offer inventive craft cocktails to wash it all down. The pizzas have fresh, local toppings on a delightfully chewy crust and just the right amount of char. I recently had the Garden Party, which had a pesto base and roasted veggies. It was unbelievably good. Will be back for the pizza and the good vibes again and again!

Abby M.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible pizza spot. The patio is beautiful and so inviting. Servers are always quick and friendly. We got the margherita pizza & the mozz sticks. The pizza was light, crispy and perfect for the 80 degree weather we had. And the mozz sticks -- my favorite around!! Drizzled with hot honey and the perfect crunch.

Teresa M.

Yelp
Started with sticky sticks - which are deep fried mozzarella sticks tossed in hot honey and served with marinara - yum,.. also had the shop salad -- also yum - tossed in the right amount of ranch. Finally - what you really want to to hear about-- the pizza we went for the margherita and it was great - a thin light crust -- perfect. Overall a very nice experience - including great attentive service.

Tim W.

Yelp
Best pizza in town hands down. Everything on the menu is great - not just the za. Great bar program and natural wines too.

Sandy G.

Yelp
If you are a snob(not a pizza snob) this place is for you! Pizza is okay, but the pretentiousness of the the place makes it less desirable. You HAVE to use a QR code for the menu, which is fine. We used it to order our pizza and an appetizer. When the waitress mentioned the draft beer, I ASSUMED she might know/care to tell me what they had but no..I got" they are on the menu". I agree with the review that said the sticky stix are nothing like the photo. Way too breaded and on the hard side. I was also told " we don't do halves" when I tried to order a 1/2 pep 1/2 cheese pizza to take home to my family. Hard pass on King Dough.

Ellen H.

Yelp
Delicious! Wait wasn't as long as they quoted. Great service, will definitely be back to try something else!

Drew K.

Yelp
Located just east of downtown, King Dough is a great place to enjoy a pizza with friends or family. We dined here on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch, and we were pleased to hear about the restaurant's $4 draft beers special. Beer and pizza is a great combination! We had the opportunity to sit outside on their patio, which was a great way to enjoy the perfect weather that day. We decided to each order a small salad and then split a 14" create your own pizza together. This was the perfect amount of food. The salad I ordered was the shop salad, which was great. It came already tossed in dressing and had good flavor. The customized pizza we created had chicken, pepperoni, ricotta, fresh mozzarellas, and hot honey. We also subbed in a red pepper based sauce rather than the typical tomato/red sauce. The combination of toppings, sauce, and light crust worked great together, especially the balance between spicy and sweet from the hot honey and pepperoni. The service was a little relaxed/slow, but they were friendly and we were in no rush. We will definitely be back at King Dough very soon, especially when the weather is nice enough to sit outside.

Susan N.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend this neighborhood find. We are in town for a quick getaway and stopped in for the destroyer pizza, Greco salad and chicken wings all of it was delish! Pizza was very flavorful and dough was yummy, very fresh. Service was quick and friendly. Great music and hipster atmosphere.

Aaron K.

Yelp
Great service and excellent pizza. We love sitting out on the patio. Always a good dining experience!

Gretchen R.

Yelp
I am always on the hunt for good pizza and King Dough is some of the best you can find in Indianapolis. For an appetizer I love the sticky stix mozzarella sticks that set themselves apart with the hot honey topping. While I come for the pizza, I cannot get enough of their salads specially that shop salad with delicious bacon and home croutons. You can't go wrong with any pizza but the Destroyer is always my go to. The Italian sausage and hot honey combo is truly something special. They also have a great list of natural wines. The service is always on point. The vibe is relaxed but elevated.

Brandon T.

Yelp
Amazing pizza place! The Destroyer pizza is a highlight, also love their Greek salad! Ambiance is top notch as well, I love that they show cartoons! Great service! Highly recommend! PS for all restaurants- please consider sanitizing or switching out items like cheese/salt/pepper shakers between customers, thanks!

George R.

Yelp
Met the owners of this place a few years ago, and was really excited to finally try it. As a disclaimer, the state of pizza in Indy is bad. There are so many places that fake it and under deliver. This is not one of those places. Great atmosphere. Easy and plentiful parking. The wait staff handled a fully packed house efficiently. We had a large Destroyer. It was something simple, and it was perfect on so many levels. The sauce was spot on, the dough was perfect for the style of pizza, and toppings were on point. I did not like the honey personally, but I can see how it fit into the mix. Give these people your money.

Annie L.

Yelp
Pizza was AWESOME! FYI ranch is $3 per cup which we didn't know until the bill came and they charge 3% if you use a credit card. Still highly recommend but a few things to consider.

Danielle M.

Yelp
I came here for dinner because I heard so many great recommendations from my friends about King Dough. We came on a Friday night, so we did have a short wait. I got the small "shop" salad to start and it was so tasty! We got the destroyer pizza and oh my goodness it was delicious!! You could tell all of the ingredients were fresh. I would definitely eat here again! We sat outside and would highly recommend the patio seating.

Alyssa I.

Yelp
NEW FAV PIZZA PLACE ALERT I can't express how good this pizza place is! Take out or sit in it's amazing. Great vibes and live plants all around and indoor and outdoor seating. I always get the destroyer and wowowwowo it's so tasty. Crisp crust and full of flavor. Also vegetarian options too and gluten free crusts is an option. The hot honey on top makes it have a sweet taste and I need to go back.

Renee B.

Yelp
This is THE PLACE in Indy to get pizza. I have never ever had a disappointing experience here, and I have been many many times. After several years of living here, I stand by that this is my favorite pizza place in Indy. The pizzas are inventive, new, and so so good. They have a pizza that has grapes and bleu cheese. They have (had?) a taco pizza that was our go to for years. But they also have your regular margarita pizzas. They have vegan pizzas (which are also amazing even though I am not vegan), burgers, and wings. They also have a really nice selection of wines, and even a wine subscription service last I checked. Unfortunately you cannot get it delivered as of this review. They used to deliver within a certain radius of downtown, but recently we have been having to go pick it up. And honestly it's worth it! They are also not in any of the food delivery apps (DoorDash, etc). The only downside. They have a small parking lot out front and street parking around the sides. There is also a large lot across the street if those are full. They have a lot of cool art inside and plenty of seating. Everyone is very nice there. They also have really good and inventive cocktails!! Truly such a great place. This will forever stay in my Indy food rotation.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Go for the Pizza but don't forget to grab a Shop Salad!! Great vibe and the staff is super friendly!!

Megan P.

Yelp
This was our second time having King Dough and we love it! They serve true, woodfired pizza and have a great menu of beers, wines, and cocktails to go along with it. We visited on a Saturday night and were able to be seated right away. The building appears to be an awesome repurposing of an old space and our service was great. They have an outside seating area and fire place that would be perfect during the warmer months. We started with the shop salad which was fresh, well tossed, and a notably great salad amongst our whole party. I had the good time cocktail and thought it was perfectly light and refreshing. We also had the destroyer pizza and a margherita pizza with mushrooms. The pizzas were awesome and served very quickly. The menu has some very unique pizza options, which we look forward to trying over more visits, but they also seemed very accommodating to any other pizza requests. Overall, I would say King Dough is one of the best pizza places in Indy and it's by far my favorite pizza place to dine-in at!

Lizz M.

Yelp
Hadn't been since they first opened. The patio seemed so much larger and spacious. It was perfect for a summer night. No wait and our server was observant of when we needed water and such. We shared 3 different pizzas and I was surprised that the hot honey pizza was actually sweet. It was good just sweeter than I expected. I don't recall what other pizzas we shared but they were all great and paired with a dry red wine, even better.

Nicole H.

Yelp
So I'm going to go against the grain here. I see this is a very popular restaurant- and I understand why! It's incredibly trendy with a gorgeous outdoor dining area and a very nice indoor area. It's in a trendy area of town, near Smoking Goose Meatery and the new Windsor Place Amelia's Bakery. The pizzas have trendy prices as well - a 14 inch pizza runs around $14-$18. So the three stars are mostly for the vibe and esthetic. The pizza itself? Meh. We got a pepperoni pizza and a pepperoni & mushroom pizza. It reminds me strongly of Blaze Pizza - both how it's cooked and the flavor of the crust from the stove. Both the pizzas were bought were very salty - to the point where I kept eating it because it was pizza, and even bad pizza is still good in its own way - but salty enough that I don't plan to ever get it again. Honestly, if I want pizza like this I would just go to Blaze Pizza by IUPUI. Sorry friends, y'all got a nice vibe but not a lot of substance for us n

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Really good dough, good wings, great pizza! The ricotta was amazing. Very few pizza places get the good ricotta, and this place is one of them. However you only get a few dollops here and there on your pizza and for $2.50 for that topping I was sad that there wasn't more coverage on the za. All the other toppings seemed to be plentiful and dispersed better. But next time I'll just order extra extra haha!
