"This Cajun-Creole restaurant in the First Ward is the unofficial capital for Houston couples, elegant aunties having a ladies’ night, and birthday crews ordering cupcake Ferris wheels. Even though Kiss describes itself as “vibe dining,” it’s on the tamer side of clubstaurant culture. No one will be dancing on the tables. But a DJ will spin amapiano remixes of ’90s R&B while people enjoy the grits topped with jerk lamb chops at brunch." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas

"At the self-described “vibe dining” restaurant Kiss in the First Ward, people come dressed to impress. The dark and moody Cajun-Creole restaurant is the peak destination for couples having a romantic b-day celebration and elegant birthday crews composed of bougie aunties. Go big and have a tomahawk ribeye to celebrate another trip around the sun, and if you’re feeling particularly extra, finish your meal off with a cupcake ferris wheel, because it’s your birthday and nobody can stop you.  " - gianni greene, chelsea thomas

"The Deal: Three-course dinner at $55 per person. Why We Like It: Normally $55 at Kiss won’t get you much more than an entree. But for the same price during HRW, you’ll find yourself with an entree, appetizer, and dessert from the Sixth Ward Creole-Cajun restaurant. So grab a grilled pork chop, some coconut curry wings, a slice of cheesecake, and use the extra savings to treat yourself to their cupcake ferris wheel, because why not?" - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

"We would gladly make any excuse to have the oxtail dinner at Kiss, a self-described “vibe dining” restaurant in Washington Corridor. The southern-style braised oxtails at this clubstaurant come with vinegary collard greens, a few steamed carrots, and a heap of buttery mashed potatoes. The gravy coating the oxtails is slightly sweet and somehow enhances the tenderness of the meat. Add in a slab of cornbread and you have yourself a proper country-style oxtail meal." - gianni greene

I made an 8:15 reservation and waited for almost 45 minutes to be seated when there was open seating outside. I had to ask what the deal was before the host said “oh it was raining earlier and you booked the patio we won’t have inside seating until later tonight around 11” I never asked to be indoors I was fine with outside and to give me that option after 45 minutes is unprofessional. My service was a bit rushed and scarce. She didn’t really check in us that much we m. I was served a salad with nuts although I expressed I was allergic. The food was amazing. Lamb chops were excellent. Oxtail was a bit overcooked but the flavor was nice. The drinks were not good though they had lots of alcohol but didn’t taste good. The food was the highlight of the evening. I think the rice took me by surprise. We did a 2 for 160 special and each had a drink and my check came out to 248. There was a gratuity in there of 20> which was high for service that was pretty much non existent. We had to find our own silver wear wait an hour for water to be refilled. We wanted additional drinks and couldn’t even get her to take that order. All and all I would give it a 7/10. The food and atmosphere really put the cherry on top.

Kiss was a fun experience. The bottle service was exciting to have from our terrific server Alyssa. She checked in on us to make sure everything was great, and was very friendly and happy the whole night. She added a great ambiance to the experience. We shared the Jamaican Jerk Lamb Chops on collard greens with garlic mashed potatoes and had a side of delectable mac and cheese. We enjoyed that after the boudin egg rolls and crab cakes as appetizers, along with our golden champagne. This was a lot of food for two people at great value and exceptional service. We hope to return to try everything offered on the menu!

Dined here for a combo birthday celebration. Location: Easy to find and parking is plentiful. They do have a valet for $20 if you prefer. Atmosphere: Lively, loud, upbeat. Servers are very nice, though, and quick. Setting: Dark and spacious Drinks: They definitely show love on the adult beverages. My goodness, one sideways, really had me sideways. Though I'm a light weight when it comes to hard liquor. Im a wine drinker. Drinks are expensive, and the serve has bottle service. Food: The food was good. It came out pretty fast. Notable mentions: Thai shrimp and fried chicken, The Vibe is unmatched, though. There were people of all ages ranges and generations. The music is on point. I would definitely go back.

Absolutely loved the vibe. We were early had a bit of wait but still seated prior to our reservation. Love hightop tables with a place to put your feet. Server was nice and swift. The place was packed service seemed to keep up with the pace. Started strong. Margarita was great. Lobster ravioli and was wonderful. Creamy with a little micro green topping. The salmon bites were awful. The texture was off putting, they seem fried (very hard) drowned in a sauce that taste mayonnaise based with no other flavors. It was nasty. Greens and beignets came out cold. The server did take them and bring hot items out. Greens were tasty with some smoked turkey. The beignets were average at best. Overall good experience. Go for the drinks and the ravioli and atmosphere. Other than that the music and vibe are the only thing worth dealing with....

Kiiisssssss. Yes, we did not leave disappointed. The service was top-notch. Our waitress, Lorel was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. We enjoyed the oxtail, jerk lamb chops, greens and we had the salmon bites as an appetizer. The atmosphere was beautiful, I enjoyed the decor, which set us up for a pleasant evening. We will return!!! May God continue to bless this establishment!!

This food was a joke. I definitely hate coming to an establishment that sells you on false hopes. Wasting my money on food that’s not worth my money. Honestly it looked very promising. However the food was terrible. The server her self was very accommodating and provided great service. However the manger was not polite. I do believe he needs to take a culture sensitivity class to deal with all races. Back to the food on the menu doesn’t mention there is any cheese in the egg rolls and it had cheese my friend is allergic to dairy. My other friend had the spinach dip it was terrible no seasoning at all cold. My other friends lamb just was not good. It lacked seasoning and a grainy texture.

First time eating here. Atmosphere is very cozy, laid back, and nice. Service was a little slow. The food is awesome. I recommend eating here as often as you can. There's plenty of good food on the menu.

I went to celebrate my birthday here for the first time. Kaylin was such a great server very sweet and patient with us. The food was so amazing, parking was excellent. But the reason I gave four stars and not 5 it is impossible to get a hold of someone over the phone honestly I was never able to but I would come again yall should check it out.
