"A small stand in the middle of the Japan Center, Kissako Tea serves onigiri, warabi (similar to mochi but made with a different starch), green tea ice cream-wafer sandwiches, taiyaki (a fish-shaped cake filled with red bean), and dorayaki (soft red bean pancakes), but most people get the mochi-on-a-stick. Try the mitarashi dango, three small mochi balls coated in a sweet-savory soy sauce." - Maya Wong, Janelle Bitker, Ellen Fort

For the price, the stuff here is awesome. I got two onigiri for $7 - both of which were stuffed a great amount with filling. Rice was also very fluffy and tasty.

Great onigiri for the price! And love that there are veggie options (plain with salt, enoki mushroom, and takana greens). The enoki was our favorite!

This shop has been here for so many years! I always dropped by when I was still in high school. According to the employee they changed hands 4 years ago, but looks like the new owner is doing a good job of keeping the old menu & authenticity of this place, also added some new items. Surprisingly the prices haven't changed much! The onigiri was freshly made (rice was warm when they gave it to me); the mango mochi I ordered had nice texture but was too sweet. I'd definitely go for more traditional flavor like matcha next time.

I've been visiting the Japan Center mall since I was in high school, I've never failed to visit this shop. It is a part of every trip because I love their small plate offerings! I've gotten to try so many different onigiri thanks to their reasonable prices and fair portions (and well distributed fillings!) This last trip included a new (to me) flavor as well; umeshiso. It is essentially a sour plum jam with mint. The rice is still salted, so it has a surprisingly well balanced profile of sweet, salty, sour, and fragrant. The sour note hits hard, but as you get accustomed to each bite, you notice the sweetness come through more. Balanced with the salt of the rice, the mint's fragrant flavor elevates the whole thing further. Really enjoyed it! If you prefer more standard flavors, they have an assortment of meats, a mushroom, and plain onigiri as well. Do yourself a favor and try the different soda offerings as well! Pair them with a scoop of ice cream, you will be very glad you did.

Was in Japantown on a busy Sunday and had to stop by here since a friend of mine told me that they had some Onigiri's an Mitarashi Dango! The Food: I went with a Spicy Salmon Onigiri and the Mitarashi Dango. The Onigiri was quite filling. It was bigger than what I'm used to getting in my area, which was quite nice. The salmon filling inside the Onigiri was plenty and flavorful. The Dango was good! However, I wish it was heated up when we got it. It was a little cold when I picked it up. The Service: Orders will take a while if it's busy. I waited about 30-40 minutes for some onigiri's and dango. Staff members are friendly though. It's just the wait times that is frustrating. The Atmosphere: Can be very crowded at times. There are some seats and tables for you to eat at, but not much since it's at an open court area. Overall, a 4/5. Definitely recommend stopping by and giving this place a try. But only if you have the patience to wait about 30-40 minutes.

Google
Interesting cute little shop ! We ordered two onigiris . One was a baked salmon and the other was the spicy tuna.. I think it has too much rice and not enough fish or flavoring .. the price was decent though .

Best fruit mochi I’ve ever tasted. Great flavours.

Kissako Tea is a great spot for a light snack! In the plaza, it is a great spot to try out different kinds of small bites. I had eaten some pastries from Jina Bakes, and grabbed a matcha drink at Cafe Maiko. Ordered the spam and umeshiso onigiri. Rice is served hot. You definitely need to eat this ASAP so the seaweed doesn't get soggy. Staff is friendly. Street parking along the block. Follow the adventure @shoyuthebest on IG!

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick bite! Loved everything I ordered here. I got the Chicken Teriyaki Onigiri, Berry Mochi (strawberry and blueberry flavored) and Matcha Tea. The flavor of the mochi was so good and the consistency was just right.. not too soft and not too hard! The onigiri's are made to order so you already know they taste fresh! I would've liked more chicken teriyaki in my onigiri but honestly for the price (everything was around $12), I can't complain! The matcha tea was delish and good quality - I didn't need/ care to add any sweeteners or add-on's! Kissako Tea is a kiosk located on the first floor of the Japan Center Kinokuniya Building! There are a few seating areas next to the kiosk as well as benches around the mall. Staff members were really nice as well :) Will definitely stop by again!

Yelp
3.5 rounded up. Nice shop with tons of variety but the larger the menu, the lower the quality of certain items. Matcha Mochi - mochi was thick and doughy but very good. Worked out the jaw from all the chewing but well worth it. Inside was a rich filling, a generous amount of sweetness. Being matcha flavored however, I would expect some bitterness which was not present. Onigiri - we tried the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and spicy furikake spam. Tuna and salmon onigiri lacked filling and wasn't spread well. Very inconsistent bites as some were flavorful and others bland consisting of just rice and seaweed. The spicy furikake spam had a solid piece of spam in the center that easily overshadowed the other two. Made to order, however, and the rice is warm.

Yelp
My daughter loves the mochi here at Kissako Tea (a tiny kiosk downstairs in the Japan Center mall). I don't like red beans (which usually limits my mochi adventures) but I like white beans so we usually order the dango and the kinako mochi. I'm happy to report there are plenty of non-red bean options at Kissako. Despite being an onigiri lover, my daughter has yet to let me get her one here (probably because we usually visit after slurping noodles at Udon Mugizo upstairs) but they look very good!

Yelp
When the lines are too long at the other restaurants or you're looking for a quick snack, this is the spot! I went here on a Thursday evening and there was no line. This place is a small stand in the middle of the area. You order on one side and pickup on another side. There are a bunch of tables nearby for you to enjoy your treats at. The menu is expansive, with onigiri, udon, dango and mochi, donburi, beverages, and more. I ordered spicy salmon and tenmusu (shrimp tempura) onigiri. I also ordered the seasonal mont blanc, which is a chestnut sponge cake. The onigiri came in the classic plastic onigiri packaging, making them great to take on the go! They were piping hot. The rice wasn't seasoned very heavily, but I didn't mind because most of the flavor comes from the filling. I enjoyed the contrast of the crispy shrimp tempura with the soft rice. It was a satisfying snack! Overall, I love the simplicity of this place. Onigiri always hits the spot. I will definitely be back!

Trina H.

Yelp
Got the spicy shrimp onigiri and while the flavor was good but there was not enough filling. It felt like there was 1 piece of shrimp cut up into smaller pieces. I also got the matcha daifuku and that was delicious. The mochi wrap was thin

Yelp
My visit to Kissako Tea in Japantown, San Francisco, was an immersion into a culinary experience that stayed with me long after I left. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance that perfectly complemented the aromatic scent of freshly prepared tea and food. I decided to indulge in one of their most talked-about items: the onigiri. Simple yet complex, this traditional Japanese rice ball became the highlight of my savory time at Kissako Tea. The first thing I noticed about the onigiri was the remarkable fluffiness of the rice. Each grain seemed to be cooked to perfection, achieving a delicate balance between being light and holding its shape. The texture was neither too sticky nor too loose, making it an ideal canvas for the flavorful fillings. The rice's fluffiness played a crucial role in elevating the entire onigiri experience, adding an almost ethereal quality to each bite. It was evident that great skill and care were taken to prepare the rice, indicating a commitment to authenticity and quality. Service was quick and efficient. Paired with the flawlessly cooked rice was a generous amount of filling that left nothing to be desired. The ratio of rice to filling was just right, avoiding the common pitfall of skimping on the ingredients. Whether it was the savory tuna, the rich and smooth avocado, or the deliciously marinated pickled plum, each filling was packed with flavor and complemented the rice perfectly. This sufficiency of filling ensured that every bite was both satisfying and memorable. My visit to Kissako Tea was more than just a meal; it was a celebration of traditional Japanese culinary artistry, right in the heart of San Francisco.

Yelp
Five stars for food, price, and service! I come here pretty regularly (every few weeks, I'd say). I've ordered on the fly, but I've also called in twice for larger orders (one for 10 onigiri and another time for 30). There is a note on the menu that asks for a call ahead if you have 10 or more onigiri. The first time I called (for the order of 30), they even thanked me! I believe it helps them get a head start so the people who are in line waiting in person aren't waiting too long either. Every order is always seamless and the service is always friendly and efficient. The onigiri is simple, delicious, and reasonably priced! Many of ones I order are under $3. They also have Japanese snacks like arare, mochi, and Pocky. They have drinks, but I've never ordered any. I'm there for onigiri! :) It is not in a store, it is more of a kiosk/stand. There are tables and seating nearby to sit and eat if you choose. I typically take mine to go. Great business!

Yelp
I've passed by this place like a million times and honestly I never knew what they sold until I finally looked them up. They have a huge variety of items on their menu, including veggie options. I was really excited to try my first ever made to order onigiri! I ordered the enoki onigiri and it did take a while to come out, but it makes sense because its made to order. I had no idea how to properly open it, even though there were instructions, so I'm pretty sure I ate it wrong, but it was still delicious. Next time I definitely want to order more because everything looks so good. I would especially really like to try the ume one. They also have more than just onigiri, I saw that they had a vegetable curry, which I would like to try next time as well. I will be coming back here soon!

Yelp
Kissako Tea is a great stop if you're looking for a quick, affordable, yet healthy lunch. The menu is simple and satisfying. The lunch special comes with two onigiri of choice, soup or tea, and mochi of choice. An onigiri sticky rice shaped in a triangle, stuffed with something yummy, and wrapped in crispy seaweed. The packaging is a plastic wrapper that keeps the seaweed separate from the warm rice. You peel the plastic and wrap the seaweed around the rice when you're ready to eat it. The onigiri options vary from meat, seafood, and veggies. I ordered a pickled veggie and a mushroom onigiri. Both were tasty. I recommend some soy sauce on the side to dunk but that's my untraditional recommendation. The miso soup was served in a small to-go cup. For dessert, you get a choice of mochi. There's even a savory flavor with a soy glaze. I chose the cherry blossom mochi and it was outstanding. There are also lots of tea options to meet your needs. There's seating right next to the stand. What a lovely find!

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Cute made to order onigiris at this little stand in Japantown! Since they're made to order, they take a bit of time to come out, but they come out soo warm and fresh. We got the spicy salmon (with cooked salmon) and the spam furikake and both were great, but the salmon was my fav. There's a great filling to rice ratio! I like more filling than rice and this one did the job. Great price too -- each is around $3, which is such a good deal. The stand also sells a bunch of desserts and soups. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick snack or light bite in the Japantown area!

Toija C.

Yelp
Love this place! The best onigiri in the city! Reasonably priced, super flavorful and healthy portions. Every time I'm in the city I stop by

Tiffany N.

Yelp
Went here on my lunch break and got my boyfriend and I 6 onigiris for about $23 (spicy salmon 7/10, roe 5/10, and unagi 7/10). This place is a small stand in a strip mall in Japantown. I parked in a garage and paid $3 for the hour. All of the onigiris had a lot rice so the ratio was a bit off for us. The spicy salmon was good, but needed a bit more flavor so we added soy sauce. The unagi flavor was great, but again too much rice. And I actually hated the roe one - the hot rice cooked the roe and it just tasted like some rice with salt. However, I've been here before for their dangos and it's delicious!!! Overall, it's a good affordable small snack stop, but it's no luxury meal! We'll be back for the dangos!

Gaby J.

Yelp
Amazing service and price! I will definitely go to Kissako Tea again next time I'm in the area. The manju dango I bought here was super good. It was so smooth and soft that I wished I bought another one before I left. Located inside the Japantown plaza near Mai-do, this unassuming hole in the wall serves onigiri and manju at an affordable price that anyone can buy and enjoy.

Jo K.

Yelp
I love Kissako Tea Anne is the sweetest and nicest can be. I love their onigilly. They are made to order FRESH. Got to support your mom & pop businesses. And don't forget to TIP

Kk S.

Yelp
Very good onigiri and sweets that don't break the bank! Quick service with a lovely smile! I can't wait to try the udon!

Sharen H.

Yelp
I've often passed by this stand but never actually ordered anything until a friend convinced me it's worth trying. This food stand is located in Japantown across from Jina's Bakery and Kinokuniya on the first floor by the stairs. There are tables next to the stand for people to sit and eat but it gets filled up so easily so be prepared. I decided to try their spam onigiri and spicy unagi onigiri, each priced between $3.30 to $4. They cooked the onigiri fresh upon ordering, so it came out hot and delicious. Despite the wait of 10-15 minutes, which felt a bit long for onigiri (especially since it wasn't busy), I was impressed that the onigiri came fully wrapped, reminds me of the ones from Nijiya. I'd rate the onigiri 8 out of 10! They were incredibly fresh and flavorful, although they did have a bit too much rice for my liking. Because the onigiri came out warm/hot, the sea weed was not crunchy :/ Between the two, I preferred the spicy unagi over the spam. I still highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back for more :)

Angelina N.

Yelp
Convenient customer service with relatively short lines, even on Saturday. The dango are all made fresh, and it's especially evident in the Mitarashi dango. It's far superior to any store bought dango as its soft dough has you going back to the stick for more. As for the dorayaki, it didn't taste nearly as fluffy as the price would suggest. Overall, a nice and jovial little place to grab a quick bite from.

Franklin Z.

Yelp
Tasty, quick bite with the onigiri. Reasonably priced and was made fresh on the spot. Service was very friendly. Lots of tables and chairs to enjoy. Would come again if I want something smaller than a meal.

Janice J.

Yelp
Little rainy day treat on Sunday after 5:30pm! Do expect a wait for the onigiri as it is prepared fresh! They ask for your name and will call it out when your food is ready. Little seating area by the pickup area. My onigiri was tasty and hot! I try to come here every time I'm in Japantown. * Mitarashi Dango/Japanese Glutinous Rice Ball in Sweet Soy Sauce $2.75 each * Spicy tuna onigiri made to order $3.30 each

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I love the onigiri at Kissako Tea. I have not yet gone to all the onigiri places in SF yet, but so far, this place is my favorite. The rice is perfectly cooked - it's not too firm and not too dry, just right. It might just be that the rice was cooked so well, but I also really appreciated the ratio of rice to filling. I also love the variety of options that you can choose from and they're all made to order. As a note, you order in the front and pick up your order from the side. It's a stand but there is seating nearby.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of the fresh hot rice balls! I've brought some out-of-town visitors and they have been requesting to come back. The prices are reasonable as well and great as a snack or a meal. I always get the unagi, but others have really enjoyed the chicken teriyaki. I just wish y'all were open more hours

Nikki M.

Yelp
it was ok but not great, i will try other foods on the menu next time. i just had too much expectations.

Kyle W.

Yelp
Nostalgia hits as I stumbled upon this place in the Japan Center of Japantown, as I visited this place for their kushi dango in 2019. I had a good experience then, so I decided to give it another try now. I got the fruit mochi and mitarashi dango this time for a balance of sweet and savory. I really love the fruit mochi as even though there is white bean filling inside that brings up the sweetness, the soft mochi itself is super flavorful. Overall, it was a bit too sweet for my liking but it would be a nice dessert. The mitarashi dango is fine but did not taste that fresh, so this could have been better.

Annie Y.

Yelp
A small shopping-center kiosk selling mochi, sweet treats, onigiris & specialty drinks. If you want handmade no frills mochi, this is it! They also had some food items but my attention was the mochi. Plus, we had a reservation for ramen. The Butter Mochi was incredible and my favorite. I can probably eat the whole tray! The chewy texture with perfect sweetness. It tasted like a creme brulee dessert. Delicious! The matcha mochi is filled with smooth azuki white lima beans. Very filling. Not my thing but my friend loved it. Located on the first floor of Japan Center - Kinokuniya Building in the middle.

Jay W.

Yelp
I love this place! A must stop whenever you're in Japan Town. Their delicious, large, and hot onigiris are all made to order. This means you can expect to wait a couple minutes or more depending on the size of your order. But they are so worth the wait! Service is also great. Very kind down to earth workers :)

Sheryl B.

Yelp
Always very good onigiri sake rice balls. Prices are affordable & that's appreciated. Thank you. I aways come here when I go to JapanTown

Linda T.

Yelp
Have been here a few times for the onigiri (best I've had in the Bay - love that the rice is warm) and decided to branch out today and get the gyudon. It was okay. I felt like the rice / meat ratio was off, and I had too much rice. I will probably stick to the onigiri next time.

Arielle A.

Yelp
New favorite onigiri flavors: unagi and spicy tuna with mayo! The unagi has a savory flavor that pairs sooo well with the rice and seaweed. This is now my go to order whenever I come here. The spicy tuna with mayo tastes great--the mayo is subtle but balances the fishy taste well. The onigiris are served warm and fresh--they're piping hot whenever I receive my order! And service is always great. The workers have a friendly attitude. Doesn't get any better than that. Stop by here if you're in Japantown, you won't regret it!

Anthony N.

Definitely recommend stopping by and giving this place a try. But only if you have the patience to wait about 30-40 minutes.

Fiona T.

Yelp
Be prepared to wait 30-45 minutes during the busy Japantown events. I paid about $20 for 6 onigiris. If you only had to get 2, I recommend the mentaiko and spicy unagi (eel). They ask for a name to call your order and if your name is taken, they'll ask for an alternative name.

Jenny W.

Yelp
This is a delicious and fresh spot to get some authentic Japanese bites and mochi. Their mochi, Dango, and red bean fish waffle are absolutely delicious and must haves. I'd skip the handheld rice triangle thingies. Although it is very affordable, there isn't enough stuffing inside to feel satisfied. Willbe returning for their desserts.

Katie R.

Yelp
This spot was recommended for some snacks while exploring Japantown. Ordered a few different onigiris to try - went with the spicy tuna, unagi, and beef sukiyaki. Line was sort of long and onigiris took a little while to come up, but they were made to order so that was to be expected. Was pretty underwhelmed by how little filling each one had, especially the beef. There weren't any chunks of meat, just what looked like small grill scrapings, this was a bummer because it did have a good flavor, just very little due to the lack of anything in it. Favorite was the spicy tuna, this one seemed to have the most stuffing and therefore the most flavor. Unagi had a nice flavor too, just very little stuffing again. Prices were reasonable and food was fresh, but don't think I'd come back here for the onigiri.

Sherri W.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in Japantown I love visiting Matcha Cafe Maiko but because a cone will fill me up, I like to get a quick Onigiri bite at Kissako Tea. It's a pretty good value to get the Onigiri Soup Set for $12. Order: Spicy Spam Onigiri & Plum Onigiri both were excellent. Tofu Soup was very flavorful & filling. Red Bean skewers( Dango) we're very fresh with a chewy Mochi texture & sweet red bean filling. For a quick & lite bite, Kissako is my go to.

Daisy G.

Yelp
We came here and got ume, spicy unagi, and spicy chicken onigiris. I think the ratio is rice heavy but I love that it's always super fresh and warm. This is always a must stop visit for me for a quick and easy meal! Service is quick. They're always super busy.

Priya C.

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday afternoon, and it was a little busy. The wait time to order was about 10 mins, but the wait time to get the snack was about 20 mins. The ambiance was cute but simple, the store was a small booth in the mall. There were some limited seating right next to the booth. I ordered a Red Bean Taiyaki. It was about $3 in total, so it seemed like a pretty reasonable price. The taste was pretty standard, not too sweet and a good amount of filling. Overall, if you're just stopping for a quick, nice little snack come here! I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

Jasmine N.

Yelp
Food: one spicy eel onigiri - hits the spot if you're looking for a hearty snack! Lots of rice, buts of eel, and it would have been perfect if I had a bottle of ramune to go with it (oops!) Vibe: The lil stall/kiosk/shack? (in the most endearing way) in the middle of the first floor in the west building next to Maido and Jine bakes, makes it stand out as your walk around the area. Weekends usually have looooong lines here but you're in luck on weekdays between 1-4pm typically!

Valerie G.

Yelp
The best onigiri spot ever. So inexpensive and a great lunch option. The taste of each onigiri is recognizable and very good!!! Service is polite and quick despite how busy this little kiosk can get. Their mochis are also very tasty and authentic!! Forgot what the name of the blue drink was but it was SOOO good, definitely would get again.

Arthur T.

Yelp
The staff here was so nice!! I never tried the shoyu based dango and they gifted one to me- it's chewy yet sweet and salty at the same time. Will be back next time for way more!

Eva C.

Yelp
Came here last weekend during Cherry Blossom Festival weekend 1, so there were a lot of people in the area and also a long line to order the food. This place is a little booth on the downstairs of Japan Center Kinokuniya Building along with Jina Bakes and Matcha Maiko. It's not an actual store with their own spaces but there is a common area with seating. They have onigiris, mochi, coffee, and some other Japanese snacks. We got matcha mochi and 3 onigiris (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy shrimp). The mochi is a bit more firm compared to other mochi I've had but I think it is still pretty fresh. The onigiris seemed to be made-to-order because it was warm when I got them. I haven't had warm onigiris in a really long time because most Japanese supermarkets sell them refrigerated. I liked the onigiri but it's nothing too special. Each onigiri is about $3.30-$5 depending what filling you choose.

Yelp
"Not All Who Wander Are Lost..." - Lord of the Rings One-hundred times. One-hundred times I walked pass Kissako Tea and kept on walking. Located under the Japan Center staircase and below Kinokuniya Books it's easy to find. Kissako Tea has been here since my Dojo days up the road. And not gonna lie, I'm not even sure if I been here. Maybe it was Cosplay that distracted me at the time, but hey, whatev's! So finally I got the chance to officially say I've been to Kissako Tea and let me say it was a pleasant surprise. I came with friends on a Japantown day. We decided to just wander the mall and Kissako Tea ended up one of our stops. A small little hut with display case, busy menus, and order counter on one side. On the other is the pick-up window. Cafe tables open to all or various other spots nearby to enjoy the bites. A small line in front of us gives us enough time to peruse the menu. For me, I decided on Chicken Teriyaki Onigiri, my friend ordered the Sake (Salmon) Onigiri. For drinks we all ordered Honey Ginger Iced Tea. Price point was wallet friendly after overspending at Jina Bakes lol. We pay and we wait. And we wait lol. Kissako Tea is not fast food, but instead "slow food" done right. Mochis and Dango are ready made, but Onigiris, hot bites are made to order. Number given and you wait. After maybe 10-minutes or less our order is ready. Freshly made Onigiris with filling inside warm Japanese Rice. If you know, you know how this is comfort food. Not spectacular just done right. The Honey Ginger Iced Tea so refreshing and on point! In the end, I won't take One-hundred times next time to re-visit Kissako Tea. It's one of the few places in Japantown where bites are wallet friendly and just plain yum. They also offer small bowls or Udon and various Japanese treats. Look for Osaka Castle;)

Nadine D.

Yelp
Went here over the weekday & there wasn't a line. The customer service is good & purchasing goods was a breeze. The onigiris are well price & very filling! The food I got from my trip to Japantown is the Salmon Onigiri & Unagi Onigiri. They put instructions on how to put together the onigiri which I find extremely helpful for people. I ate the unagi onigiri while in Japantown & it was delicious, the rice was infused with the unagi sause & they put a good amount of unagi into the onigiri. The onigiris also comes out warm when you order them. I ate the salmon onigiri when I got home & it was delicious. The salmon has a nice bit of salty flavor to it which complements the rice.

Jo L.

Yelp
Umeshiso (Japanese plum and mint) $2.75 rice was falling out when I pulled section two and three. Otherwise, rice was nice and warm. Plum was sooooo salty I forgot there was mint

Ananya S.

Yelp
A great little shop for affordable and tasty snacks! I got the fruit mochi and the spicy tuna onigiri. The onigiri was made to order and was so warm when I got it! And the taste was super! Not too spicy but a bit of a kick w nice warm rice. I really enjoyed it and definitely want to come back and try their other flavors. Most of their onigiri has to be consumed within 4 hours from when you get them so just keep that in mind when you order. The fruit mochi was so sweet and tasty although a bit on the more sweet side. Next time I'd want to try and less sweet option but the texture of the mochi was delightful and I really enjoyed it. I believe the flavors were pineapple, strawberry and mango. The mango was my favorite! The mochi and other sweets are pre made but the onigiri is made fresh to order and I barely waited 5 minutes until I got my food so super quick service. Great lil spot and I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
My favorite place to get onigiri. I love the spicy shrimp and spicy unagi for savory. I love the Hawaiian Blue Soda float as something sweet, along with the different mochi.

Yelp
It was the first time I tried their Matcha Cheesecake. Matcha Cheesecake is so good and cheap! Will try other items in the menu for sure.

Yelp
Must-try: Their onigiri Why visit? Their selection is quite large from teas to snacks and even meat dishes - it's a little slow and I wish their onigiri had a little more filling but it hits the spot for a small bite Protip: There are signs to keep your receipt, but don't worry about it

Yelp
This little food stand is small but mighty. Most lines in Japantown can run you about 30minutes to an hour wait but this stand is quick and efficient. I ordered the kinako mochi which satisfied by sweets craving and ordered an ume onigiri for a light bite. All onigiris are made to order so they always come out fresh instead of stale and cold. I haven't tried the teas here yet but if I'm ever around again, I will most definitely be stopping by!

Yelp
I have found this to be a staple in Japan town. Whether you are here to shop, look around, or hang out, Kissako Tea has always been here in the middle of the 1st floor selling snackies. They have grown their menu throughout the years to include more meal like items but I have personally never tried them. They provide affordable onigiri and delicious dango. Whenever I'm in the mood for a quick bite or a rice ball, Kissako Tea is the place to go. This time, I ordered the beef sukiyaki onigiri and mitarashi dango. The onigiri was great, the beef was flavorful with thin pieces of onions throughout, not enough to engulf the flavor but only enough to add fragrance to it. I've tried to make mitarashi dango and if you ask my eaters, I can never get it right. I've almost given up because it's just easier (and more tasty!) to buy them here! They hit the spot and made my stomach very, very happy.
