Enjoyed lunch at this Chinatown Austin location. The combination fried rice was delicious with a generous portion. My friend liked the lunch chicken bento box. The sides were very traditional and good. I’ve never been a fan of kimchi but it was fresh. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Galbi was amazing and a great deal for $22. Meat was tender and tasty. Didn’t like the spicy pork—had a strange sour flavor. Noodles were light and chewy, very good. Seafood pancakes were soggy and sauce was too sour. Still, I’d come back for the galbi and to try more dishes. Chill spot with plenty of seating.

We love the food here. Last time, we ordered the ssambap with four different meats. Portions were favorable and flavorful. All the banchan is good(especially cucumber kimchi and potatoes). I recommend it to anyone who wants Korean food. The staff was friendly and no wait on a table.

Literally the ONLY spot in austin to get sundue-guk. I spent a couple of weeks in South Korea and when i came back i need to fill the sundue shaped hole in my heart and this place was there to fill it. It's a mom and pop place and expect that vibe. Thier ban chan is always solid but since i only get one thing from there i can give much input on anything else.

Ordered a Galbi bento box. Food is so good. Came out fresh and hot in a decent portion. I especially loved the banchan. Their banchan is the BEST of all Korean restaurants in Austin. They are very well seasoned. This place absolutely deserves more customers to come try their food.

The seafood noodle soup tasted great. The udon tasted just fine. The servers seemed not friendly and quite pushing us to place the order and check out. The restaurant interior was not rich in design.

This was the only 순대국 (soondae guk) I could find in Austin, and it was quite disappointing. Yes, they did give a good amount of soondae in the soup and side dishes. However, I don't think the broth was proper bone broth (at least I couldn't taste it or the taste is way off), and they do not provide the two most essential items for a 순대국: 다대기 (red paste seasoning) and 젓갈 (fish sauce). My American friends liked it though, so I won't give it one star, which is what the dish deserves according to my Korean taste buds.

Very fast and delicious food and service! We liked the beef tip stew more than the seafood stew, but they are both good. The calamari was very good and well seasoned, we rate it a 5 out of 5. Atmosphere was relaxed and intimate!

A very no frills place, but I love the kimchee soup here. It's nice and sour, very flavorful and a good level of spice. The seafood pancake is good, very standard. Service is quick and they come by to refill your banchan as needed.

Coming from OC, California, I had my fair share of Korean food from mom-and-pop style restaurants. Living in downtown Austin, it's a bit a drive to get to the Chinatown Center, but we finally made the trek out there. Given that there isn't much of a Korean food scene in Austin, I tried to temper my expectations with Korean Grill. To my surprise, Korean Grill managed to meet the same level of food quality and flavors as the shops in OC. All the side dishes (banchan) were knockouts, from the seasoned fishcake to the marinated cucumbers. The soft tofu soup was packed with the addictive spices and flavors that keeps you wanting more. The hot stone rice bowl (dolsot bibimbap) had a great assortment of veggies and came out piping hot - like, you can see the smoke in my photo! Now if you're familiar with these kind of Korean mom-and-pop places, you know they are not known for their service or ambiance. Sure, the interior was nothing special, but at least it was quite spacious. The mom (owner?) may come off a bit brash on first impression, but she was actually quite accommodating and attentive. All-in-all, I was quite happy with my experience! Even though the drive out there is kinda long, I'll be sure to come by again when those Korean kravings kick in!

The galbi here was very delicious! What a steal for $22. Meat was tender and easy to peel off the bone. I didn't like the spicy pork much because it had a weird sour taste for some reason. The noodle dish I got was great, very light and healthy. Noodles were chewy. Not a fan of the seafood pancakes because they were a bit soggy in my opinion and I wish the sauce was sweeter instead of sour. I would definitely come back for the galbi though! Will also give the other dishes a try. Plenty of seating inside. Low-key chill spot, you can just walk in without having to wait in a long line or make reservations.

Food was very tasty. Service was fast and lady was very sweat. Cozy place. Prices very reasonable especially in Austin.

Decent Korean food like Umma would make. Very casual, not the best area, no fuss service

The service is terrible. We came for a late lunch and the were the only guests in the restaurant. The server was super rude, and almost seemed annoyed when we would ask for things like refills, napkins or extra kimchi. If you can get past the awful service, this place has great food. The food was fresh, came out quickly and had great flavor.

Located in Austin's Chinatown, Korean Grill is a solid choice for Korean food! I got the Yukgaejang, which is spicy beef noodle stew and it's great! I was able to finish the whole thing for dinner. They provide banchan (side dishes) and I really love them. They are typical for Korean meals and you may ask for refills.

Go during their lunch time (11am-3pm weekdays), so the price is cheaper. There are a variety of bento boxes, fried rice, stews, and ramens options for their lunch menu. I got their seafood soft tofu jigae which was good and spicy. I also had their beef bulgogi ramen. The broth was slightly sweet, but I like the slightly chewy ramen the most. Both of these were on the lunch options. Their seafood pancake is huge to justify the $16 price point. It's not the best I ever had, but it wasn't bad.

Food was ok not bad but not delicious:( Meat portion was literally 2 bites and I had to order more that potion was generous and only $2 so that was nice but for 25 for a soda a bulgogi bowl that was just ok I won't be back .

Quiet little place serving amazing Korean food ! So comforting and tasty always . Service is okay and sometimes they rush you before closing which is the only downside . Our standard go to is the kimchi jiggae and spicy pork hot pot. They are exquisite! The banchan sides are all amazing too and we usually finish them all ! Great place if you would like to grab some amazing Korean food .

This place is actually a solid 4.5 stars - so a fortunate round-up! But it's been around for a VERY long time, and I'm guessing it's here to stay for the long haul! Not a lot of ambiance, but that's not what you're really looking for if you go here. The service is kind and courteous, even if they won't let you come in and order if they're even mildly close to closing (a fair boundary, to be sure!) Please DO get tofu soup dishes - they season their soups amazingly, extremely satisfying flavoring, spice levels, and textures. Please DO ask for a lot of extra bonchon - I'm being basic, but that potato dish? Mind-bogglingly good.

Lunch special is really a good deal and they open at 11 am! Glad I am able to find this place for a spring break weekday lunch special.

We've been coming here for many years up until the last few years because the restaurant has had new owners/managers. Got to say I miss the original owners way of cooking the Korean dishes as opposed to management of today. For example, something simple like edamame, should not come apart in your mouth when you're eating it. It was over steamed, obviously, and actually we didn't even finish but half the bowl because it was too difficult to eat. I ordered the bi bim bop for my main meal, and although it looked the same as what I remember from years ago it definitely didn't taste the same. Can't really put my finger on it, but for me it was substandard to what I've grown used to over the years. Years ago when we used to go in the husband of the owner would always have a slightly sarcastic yet funny remark about something or another to us. Of course he knew as well enough to know he can mess around with this. These days, the restaurant is nothing but all business. We even noticed the condiments to come before your meal and after your meal has been served tasted different, I assume the new owners have their own variation of the same recipes. Unfortunately for us, the new recipe tastes just don't do it for us anymore.

We're visiting Austin and were in need for some Korean food. This was one of the very few places open on a Monday. Right in an Asian marketplace situation. The restaurant is on the smaller side but we went a little after the lunch hour, so it wasn't busy at the time. It wasn't super newly renovated, but the vibe was fine and it wasn't gross or anything. The lady serving us was very nice and took our orders quickly. The food came out fresh and still sizzling/boiling in their pots. The banchan was tasty. The bibimbap and soup were just how we wanted and was really delicious (and spicy of course). Prices were reasonable! Highly recommend going here for your Korean food fix!

Pleasantly surprising dining experience. Not much is assumed from the exterior of the building, pictures on the outside show you the menu, the ambiance, well there is none, but that's completely ok. On par with ambiance, is the service, which is traditionally eastern. Meaning there's a different expectations to service here. I saw a couple of reviews complaining about service to that I think about when I was traveling abroad, I learned it's customary to have to yell over to get your waiters attention, if you don't make noise you'll get ignored. Although it does not completely transfer to Korean grill it's not a 5 star service, but here, we're not worried about any of that. Because we're here for the food, for this restaurant to be suggested solely on the food speaks volumes. Great spice combinations, jam packed with flavor paired to tender beef, fresh calamari, and delicious pork among everything else served fresh and delicious. Come expecting great food and not much else, you won't be disappointed

I want to give this place 4 stars because the food was yummy, but I'm docking 1 star because the kimchi jjigae hardly had any meat in it. Since I ordered the food to go, I wasn't able to do anything about it. Other than that, the meal was decent. It came with 4 types of banchan, which were all good. The food was ready relatively quickly (10 minutes) and was still piping hot when I got home. I would still recommend trying this place, but if you like a hearty kimchi stew, theirs may not satisfy.

Great food and service. I had lunch around 1:30, surprised they weren't busier. I ordered Dolsot Bibimbap. It was very good with plenty of vegetables, including pickled vegetable. Plenty of food, I always want more beef, but with the egg there's plenty of protein and very filling. I couldn't finish it. I will be back!

I used to live in Seoul, S. Korea as a teenager so I'm always in search for Korean restaurants. My fiancé and I decided to try this spot out. A "hole in the wall" type of place, but those are the most authentic in my opinion. It was clean and felt warm and welcoming. I really loved the wall color and tables. The staff were super friendly and the food was great. Highly recommend!

I ABSOLUTELY love this place!!!! In my opinion, they have the BEST seafood soft tofu soup & spicy rice cakes!! The spicy rice cake sauce is SOOO good! I tend to pour the leftover sauce on top of my rice and eat it together with the side dishes. Typically, your food order comes with complementary banchan (side dishes). The potato side dish and cucumber kimchi are delicious...definitely give them a try! ;) I usually get seconds on those two. The ambiance in the restaurant is nice and the ladies who work here are always so friendly and helpful!

This place is a solid korean spot in town - especially for austin (there really arent that many korean restaurants to begin with) this was my second time here and we ordered kimchi pancakes, udon, and la galbi. I really like their side dishes here like the potatoes and fish cake, and bean sprouts. The pancake was definitely a little bit undercooked but still good and the udon was honestly pretty good (id say one of the better ones u can find in austin). The service might seem off but the ladies here are really nice and the food does come out a bit slow but understandable.

Staff is very sweet, food is delicious and comforting. Some of the best banchan I've tried, I lovedddd their bean sprouts!!

Nice Korean spot in Austin's China Town. 3.5 s. Inside is a bit unassuming and could use some color. I will say the space looks clean. I ordered takeout but the presentations I could see looked pleasing. (Full Disclosure, I have been to Korea) so I was looking for more. Let's get to the important part. I ordered the Beef Bulgogi,Chicken Bulgogi, egg rolls and the fried pork. The flavor was good (I was looking for a bit more) my wife said hers was nicely done. The rice was also cooked well. Egg rolls were fried nicely and not just filled with vegetables. The kimchi/bean sprouts & cucumbers were fresh (lacking some heat) but more of a vinaigrette. Service was fast (12 minutes +/-) and my order was still hot when I arrived home.

Very clean. Friendly. Dishes are ethnic not Americanized. Take your adventure with you. If you ask for spicy, you will sweat and cry. .

The food was very good! I had the Dolsot Bibimbap, the spicy rice cake and my friend had the pork bulgogi. All plates were very good! The only thing we didn't like is that they were very rushed since they started closing, the waitress kept coming to the table asking if we needed anything, then brought check, then asked us to pay because they were closing register. She then stood nearby waiting for us to finish. Aside from that, everything was great! The restaurant seemed clean.

A nice casual place to get some authentic Korean food. I tried their pork bulgogi and it was rich with a lot of great umami flavor. I also tried their kimchi stew and it was really sour for my preference, not something I would probably get again.

Whenever I'm craving my favorite kbbq dish galbi (beef short ribs), this restaurant is my go-to. It always hits. My family and I have been visiting Korean grill for years. I love that it is family-owned, and the vibes are super casual. Their home-cooked meals really do foster a sense of comfort. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but I recommend their galbi, seafood pancakes, and spicy seafood soft tofu jjigae. Portions are very generous and service is quick. Love this place!

The food was pretty good, I enjoyed it very much. The kimchi "soup" was delicious as well as the beef bulgogi but I really enjoyed the side dishes especially the salad it was sooo good. Service was great the food came out pretty fast especially since I was the first and only one there since they just opened. Cute little place.

Need that Korean Food fix that isn't just BBQ? Here's the spot. A nice small place that will give you a nice taste of homemade style Korean Food. Atmosphere: Homely, like visiting a friend's house that serving up food fresh from the kitchen. Food: Been here a few times, to note highly recommend the short ribs or the hot rice pot. Ribs come out marinated so well and in a good portion size. The hot rice pot is a nice different kind of dish that comes with it's own meats and veggies with an egg that you can allow to cook as it's served since the bowl comes out so hot. So for note be careful if you do. Service: Friendly and seems to be family owned. The workers are very kind and are there to help with any questions about any dishes should you have any since some of the dishes maybe unfamiliar to some. A nice local Korean food spot. If you ever need a fix for traditional korean food cravings here is the spot!

There's this amazing tiktok saying 3.5 stars is the perfect rating for an authentic Asian restaurant. It's an indicator that the food is 5 stars but the service is 1-2 because they're too busy cooking the delicious meal, they don't got time to refill your water or care about the wobbly tables. LOL. While the place feels a bit divey (ok, REALLY divey), the food speaks for itself. We got dulsot bibimbap, tofu soup, and kalbi ribs. Great portions and food came out ~15-20 min after we ordered and there were 1 or 2 patrons ahead of us. If you're ever in the area, don't be deterred by the aesthetic and dig in! Great flavors and very reasonably priced.

Happiness in a Low-Key strip-mall resto. Seriously, at first blush you'd think of this as Yet Another Strip-mall Resto, but you'd be oh-so wrong! It's run by a couple who've probably been running for the last forever, they are totally friends, nice, happy to help, chat, hang out, or leave you alone - all depending on what you're looking for. The food is *excellent* (in a home-cooked kinda way, which makes it even more excellent!), they have *cold* beer, and all-in-all, it's the kinda place that you keep coming back to. Because, you feel the love, and that's what counts!

Simply delicious my favorite dish was Tteokbokki (Spicy Stir-fried Rice Cakes) and kimchi, the owners are very friendly I'm definitely coming back for more and to try something different the kids loved the ribs and hubby the tofu.

I was in town for an event and my friends were craving Korean food, so I found this place on Yelp. I called the restaurant to make a reservation. The lady on the phone was very nice and welcoming. When we got there, we ordered some some appetizers- seafood pancake and fried dumplings. The seafood pancake was all right. It was very flat. I don't know if they didn't use corn starch or just not enough batter, but it was not as amazing as I expected. Despite that, my friends were not picky and enjoyed it. Some of us ordered the Korean short ribs "garbi" and really enjoyed that! It was very good and came out sizzling on a stone serving plate. I ordered the "dol sot bibimbop" which is mixed rice in a stone bowl, which I liked. My vegetarian friend ordered the tofu stir fry which also had cabbage and other veggies on it. It was good, she said. Another friend ordered the ddukboki, which I was able to taste. Not bad! Another friend ordered a soup - she said it was very hydrating. And someone else ordered the shrimp "dol sot bibimbop", which I was able to taste. Very flavorful! The service was very good. The owners work at the restaurant and they seem to do all the table service as well. The male owner was jovial and made us laugh. I did like that they had a Korean beer I had never heard of called "Terra Beer". It was good. All in all, we enjoyed the food and the service. The prices were reasonable as well.

We just moved around the area and worried there won't be any authentic Asian food, but boy Korean Grill beats me down. It can't be more authentic than this. I recommend the kimchi fried rice and beef bulgogi. Yukgaejang is great as well. I've been order from them 3 times in span of a week! Con: since their food is great so of course there will be long wait till your food ready. Order ahead of time if you hungry

We attempted to ask the waitress to please clean our table when we sat down to eat. She took her hand with no cleaning liquid or even a towel and rubbed the table with her hand and said 'now, it's clean'. Really? so your nasty unclean hand just cleaned the nasty table? No thanks - bye Felicia

The Iron Pot Bibimbap I got was OK. The texture of the rice was a bit too soft and there could've been bit more meat. Servers also had forgotten my buddies rice 3x before it finally came and we finished eating.

I've only done take out from this restaurant but it's always been great! Very typical asian restaurant. I've gotten the galbi and soft tofu jiggae and it comes with banchan to go. The prices are a little high, but the flavor and portion sizes are great. The inside is a little dive-y, but don't let it deter you from good food. Whenever I come to pick up, the restaurant is crowded. I agree with the other reviews to order ahead because they do make everything fresh resulting in a 15-30 min wait

Food is good. Service no. :( Do I want to eat there and get judged by the amount of rice that I want and I pay, NO. Would I just order to go instead. Yes. just bad service man! Just don't scream and everyone knows I need extra rice! Geez!

I love this restaurant! You are welcomed so warmly when you enter. It feels very homestyle and friendly. We tried the kimchi pancake, seafood bulgogi and kimchi fried rice. It was all very good. The banchan they give you is tasty and fresh. They also offered to refill any banchan we wanted! The seafood bulgogi was a great portion size and I also really liked the flavor. It had a good mix of meat and was perfectly seasoned. For price, it runs about average, $10-16 depending on the dish. The kimchi pancake was huge! I really can't wait to come back here, I had such a great experience.

I am addicted to korean rice cakes, This is one of the few places that I saw that actually had it on their menu. When I came in I was greeted by a friendly waitress and I decided to also try the tempura veggies. The portion sizes are really large and I probably should have taken the rice cakes to go but they were just so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it and the egg on top really made it extra filling even though it is an appetizer I recommend it for a meal.

Love this place! Authentic, tasty food with friendly service. The banchan are all tasty too. We ordered the shrimp dolsot bibimbop, shrimp japchae, seafood pancake, and a seafood soup. They were all delicious.

Was a good meal and tasted authentic for my wife and I. Between the two of us we ordered tofu soup, galbi, spicy pork and a seafood pancake. We had plenty to spare for serveral meals. My wife's favorite was the galbi, they get the flavor done well. My favorite was the pork, it was very tender and just the right amount of flavor. Note we had takeout so the Banchan was limited to kimchi, pickled cucumber and fish cake. Would return again to try in person

Been looking for a really great Korean Kalbi in Austin since we moved here 2 years ago. This is by far the best. We keep coming back here for more.

This is one of the only places still allows sit down dining. Tried to call them couple times, the owner answered the phone very rude and only answered one question then hanged up right away. So I had to call multiple times to try to find out if they are open and what time they are open. They do not enforce social distancing. Tables are not very spaced out. Didn't see marks on table saying that's not able to sit either. And they use print out paper menu but not for one time use, they recycle them. For the food. Pancake doesn't taste fresh, taste like pre-made and they microwave it when people order it, it taste soggy. And short ribs are tasty but small amount of portion for the price. Tofu stew is not spicy and the seafood inside are the frozen ones from supermarket that doesn't taste fresh at all. Very disappointed at the food quality.

The food and service are just... meh. I enjoyed the short rib, but everything else was uninspiring. The Kim chi left a lot to be desired. The service was lacking, though when the ladies did come over they were pleasant. I don't plan to return and would t really recommend to others. There are better Korean restaurants in Austin, and more savory restaurants in the Chinatown complex.

Great experience. This is the place you go for authentic Korean food at a good value. If you're looking for fancy atmosphere, might want to keep looking. But if you want some of the best banchan, japchae, and dolsot bibimbap you're at the right place. The staff were very friendly as well! I only deducted a star because the kimchi pancake was a bit burnt and soggy, so I probably won't order that again. But everything else we ordered was excellent! They even gave us boxes with little sections to take home our leftovers.

Fixing good Korean food in Austin is challenging and I wanted to give this place a try. Their menu is limited but have some very unique and authentic Korean food : blood sausage, kim chi jigae, ssambap, bibimbap, galbi. We decided to try the ssambap with an assortment of bulgogi, chicken, pork and squid to wrap in lettuce with various side dishes (banchan). Everything was very good, full of flavors and perfectly seasoned. It is priced reasonably as well! We will be back, it was a great place!

I love Korean BBQ. I also love the fact that you can walk out without smelling like Korean BBQ here. More explanation needed? This is my go-to place in Austin for Korean BBQ whenever I'm in the mood. The portions are plentiful and the staff is very friendly and responsive! We always start off with the Kimchi Pancake for appetizer. It's a huge portion that I like to call the Korean pizza, easily shareable. We then like to do the variety of Korean BBQ meats. Bulgogi, Galbi, and Soicy Pork are my faves. These all come out on sizzling plates already cooked, so they did all the work you usually have to do in KBBQ! The Galbi portion is HUGE and would easily cost $25 in any other Korean restaurant (plus having to cook it yourself). And of course, you can't forget all the banchan which the staff is always happy to refill whenever you run out. The Dolsot (stone bowl) Bibimbap and Kimchi Fried Rice are also good sides to complement all the meat. Definitely give this place a try if you're in Austin's Chinatown!

The Korean Grill is the definition of a mom & pop shop. We had a sweet Korean mom who took our order. We ordered the Kimchi Pancake, the Kimchi Soft Tofu Jigae, the Beef Bulgogi, and the Galbi. We really enjoyed the Galbi (Beef Short Ribs) which was full of flavor! Though my boyfriend stated the Beef Bulgogi was bland, I thought paired with the Galbi, they complemented each other. The Kimchi was overpowering in the Kimchi Pancake, there was not enough batter and too much kimchi. I enjoyed the soft tofu in our stew, but the stew was not steeped long enough... Overall, I would definitely come back as I truly believe the Korean Grill is overall the best quality & cost in Austin!

Can I say.... OMFG THIS IS THE BEST KOREAN FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN. My first time here was back in 2013 when I lived right behind Chinatown. I and my late best friend took a stroll from the complex throughout Chinatown and spotted this hidden gem. It is a tiny place, so in the daytime, it is very easy to miss. Anyway, we remembered the service being so prompt, everything being so yummy, homestyle and fresh! This past Christmas I took my friend Edward. After hunting and hunting for places to eat and virtually every Chinese restaurant had at least a 45-minute wait, we decided to walk into Korea House. We waited for a few minutes, but we were seated and our drink orders were taken promptly. I ordered the Shrimp Stir Fry, and he the Seafood Calamari. When I tell you I ate everything on my plate. My plate was so clean you could have literally reused it. No matter how hungry I am, 98% of the time I do not finish my plate. No matter how good the food is. But it was like crack... I just could not stop eating. The veggies were fresh, the sauce was unbelievable, the shrimp were plentiful. The service was impeccable. They remembered me from nearly 7 years ago!!! I will be back, and back and back again. I have officially found a new gem. And I am not giving it up.
