The 20 Best Restaurants In Berkeley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Korean Superette makes us want to drop in with a good book—or a daily affirmations journal—and chill all day. A lot of these feelings have to do with the stellar Korean comfort dishes. Think udon noodles in a hearty black soybean sauce, spicy gojuchang-braised tteokbokki with thick fish cake ribbons, and the silkiest tofu stew overflowing with octopus, scallops, and shrimp. The fact that this spot doubles as a mini mart stocked with instant ramen and freezers full of the biggest frozen mandu ever is certainly an added plus. Order from the counter, make sure the creamy iced matcha latte is part of the mix, and head for a seat on the backyard patio—this place looks like an idyllic garden diorama with tons of flowering trees and bushes, and plenty of shade. " - Julia Chen 1, Lani Conway

Delicious dinner on the wood and leaf covered patio! We ordered the rice cakes and silken tofu, and it all tasted fresh and homemade. The portions were generous and enough for leftovers. The service was also very kind! We went on a Tuesday night, and there were plenty of tables available without reservation, but given what a positive experience we had, we’d love to see the place be more full. Now one of my new favorite spots on Solano Ave✨

Very cute back patio seating. I would say small dog-friendly as it was a little tight. Food was good. Normally, there will be at least one to two banchans that I am not too big of a fan of, but I liked five out of five of their banchans. The supermarket part sells mostly packaged goods, but they also have some refrigerated banchan and prepared foods for sale.

Clean, cozy, and charming eatery and mini-market tucked away on Solano Ave. The restaurant is back behind the kitchen and includes a cute patio (with heaters!) that features a gorgeous magnolia tree. The steaming spicy Korean soups were the perfect meals to enjoy during a chilly January evening. I had the doenjangjjigae (spicy soy bean beef stew) and the spicy fried tofu — both came out steaming and maintained their flavor even as things cooled off. Everything was high quality. The service was quick and attentive and we had no problem splitting the check across two cards. They were very friendly without being over attentive, giving us the space we needed for a good dinner catch up between friends. This place is a longtime favorite of my Berkeley friend and I’m so glad I finally got a chance to try it with her. I’ll be back again soon — and might grab some Korean groceries (like kimchi and marinated bulgogi) on my way out!

I love the food here. Came here about 3 times already. It's usually really busy and have to wait for a table for dinner, because the place is very small but I don't mind that. I usually order ramen, especially curry ramen which is creamy and flavorful. This is such a comfort dish especially on a cold winter night. The portions are very generous as well. I would also recommend trying their teas especially honey twenty grain tea and roasted burdock. They are amazing, earthy and creamy. One thing I don't like here and they should change is the fact that the appetizer comes with the main dish at the same time. It's called the appetizer for a reason and should come BEFORE the main dish, otherwise what's the point. This has happened consistently each time. Other than this, everything else is good.

Casual Korean dining with a small Korean market with snacks and prepared food. We tried the Army Stew and the pork cutlet. The army stew might not be as large as other restaurants but the quality of ingredients and flavor is far superior. The pork cutlet was juicy and crispy. And the banchan is all made in house. There is a beautiful covered patio. The bathrooms were also clean.

Exceedingly adorable dining room in the back with views of the garden, lined by imported Korean goods for purchase. Soups are luscious, all dishes were well prepared, it's a great vibe. Service can get a little tough when it's super busy, but it's always cheerful and never terrible. Also a great spot to grab take out, as you can grab some dry or refrigerated goods too.

Had a great meal here. It is a restaurant and also a little market. Bright me back to South Korea for a moment! The banchan was great, bossam was so good, and the gochujang braised pork ribs were so tasty! I would definitely return!

Dishes are delicious and artful. Service is personable. It’s a small eatery, with indoor seating adjacent to their retail space, and a darling outdoor seating area that feels like you’re going to dinner at a friend’s house. Wish I lived closer so I could have access to their prepared foods, I’d be here nearly everyday.
