"Being in Fort Lauderdale inevitably means going to the beach. And if you’re looking for a post-beach meal around Sunrise and A1A, Kousine is what you want. The Peruvian spot makes some of Fort Lauderdale’s best ceviche and Peruvian seafood. Those—not the meat dishes—are what you want to focus on here. They have a small dining room, but sit outside and you’ll be able to see the ocean while you eat very tasty things that used to swim in that ocean." - Ryan Pfeffer

Google
Amazing Peruvian food. Loved every single dish that we ordered. This cafe is across the street from the beach and offers great views. Despite it’s prime location, prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Google
This was a great place to eat. Both the red and the white sangria were delicious. The ceviche was very good also. And the chef special paella was filling. The view was perfect - right across from the beach. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Google
We tried many different dishes and everything was outstanding quality and absolutely delicious. I specially loved the crispy honey shrimp, the kousine ceviche and the fried calamari. 10/10

Google
Hey all! I had the paella and, being a foodie, it was absolutely the bomb! Fresh fish, the sauce was a great blend with hints of lime & Cilantro. The onion would have provided more pop against the creaminess of the dish if they were pickled. Service was nice. Outdoor table was nice.

Google
The food was flavorful. Variety is great. Loved the Peru Asian fusion they have going on. It is a small nice place but the service was great. The seafood rice was amazing 😍. In most places calamari are usually bland here they were full of flavor and nicely crispy. The fry yuca was also great.

Bridget

Google
We ordered the ceviche and it was unlike anything I’ve ever had before. The seafood was so fresh, and spicy! We sat on the patio and it was a little loud as it’s next to a busy road, but there is indoor seating as well.

Google
Lovely Peruvian restaurant right at the ocean 🌊 Luis was an amazing server. Gave great tips on what to order and also where to go for vacation in Peru😄🥰 Thank you very much for a delicious meal

Google
Good food, and great location right across the street from the beach! Ceviche was pretty respectable, and the empanadas and fried yuca were really good. I'd come back for the food, for sure. A downside - service was pretty slow; seemed like there was just one overworked server. It's not a big place, but they could stand to have at least another person working there. Worth checking out.

Yelp
Buen ambiente, buen sazón y buen servicio!

Yelp
I read the raving reviews and was really excited to try this place. I love authentic Peruvian ceviche, but this is not it. This area of restaurants has a foul odor outside and the outdoor patio was loud with the tons of tourists walking by and busy street traffic, so I sat indoors for more comfortability. It's a tiny place. Tables are too close together, feels like you're seated with other parties. It was also freezing cold inside. I was seated quickly and super hungry so I stayed, hoping for the experience of the five star reviews I read. On to the food... I wanted to try a few different ceviche options so I opted for the Ceviche Mixto ($42). The waitress insisted on adding the fried calamari as a side so I ordered that as well ($3). The ceviche was beautifully presented and large portions, but sadly lacking in quality, Peruvian authenticity and flavor. The best part was the crunchy fried corn. I was unable to eat the classic ceviche on the left. The fish did not taste fresh. The middle (tuna) was okay but the sauce was too sweet and had more avocado than fish. The one on the right (orange sauce) was the best tasting of the 3, as it had more citrus and a bit of spice, but the squid was off putting. Do not get the fried calamari. I had one bite and spit it out. It was overcooked, chewy and not seasoned at all. Very unpleasant.

Yelp
Excellent food we were delighted to have this Peruvian cuisine. Super friendly staff couldn't ask for a better experience. We're sitting here across from the beach outside on a wonderful day. I'd recommend everybody come out if you're in fort Lauderdale

Rachel T.

Yelp
What a perfect little ceviche place right by the beach. I like that it's a bit north of all the action, but parking was still challenging. All the food we had was super fresh and delicious. We started with a Yuka appetizer, and then had the tuna salad, and a ceviche. There are few things I like more than ceviche especially on a scorching hot day.

Gabi Y.

Yelp
Love this place!! My friend loves Peruvian food so I chose this spot from Yelp. The reviews were all correct, this spot is great! It overlooks the beach and it's such a great atmosphere. The sangria was refreshing, and all the food items were SO delicious. I also loved the presentation of them. Our waitress was such a sweet lady too and everything came out sooo quickly. 5 stars!!!

Melissa H.

Yelp
Kousine was yummy! We ordered two Peruvian beers, Lomo Saltado, and the Ceviche Classic. The fish was fresh. It came with corn nuts, and the flavor was amazing. You can adjust the spice level when you order. We ordered spicy but forgot we did because it wasn't spicy. The Lomo saltado was really well-cooked. We got it done Medium. We sat outside, so service was a bit slow. It's a bit loud outside because the restaurant is right next to a busy street. Highly recommend stopping by!

Stacey S.

Yelp
Looking for some authentic seafood, we parked, looked around, and landed here! While I have been here before, it was many years ago, and during breakfast. Now here again, I'm glad I came back for lunch. Most of the menu is seafood. Articulated in English and Spanish, it is still a little hard to picture the entrées, but we explained to the hostess what we wanted, and she was spot on about what she recommended. This snapper was so fresh, it tasted like it had been caught that same morning. Much flavor, and very meaty. We sat outside to enjoy the view; the inside is quaint and quiet. 10/10.

Alice J.

Yelp
Clearly a five-star cafe and five-star chef! Love this Peruvian-Asian fusion restaurant with beautifully and enticingly presented dishes that are unique and tasty. Open kitchen. No-frills but fast service. Simple but attractive (arty) interior with a mural and other cute decors. It faces the beach, so on a nice day I can imagine it would be wonderful to sit on the patio. The ceviche appetizer with three distinct flavors is a must try! For the rest please see my photos.

Marcy B.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was amazing. It's a tiny spot right across from the beach with nice views. Can sit inside or outside. I'd definitely come back!

Philip L.

Yelp
Great little place right off the main drag good for people watching really simple decor on the inside. Servers are excellent knowledgeable about the food especially kind enough to remove some ingredients. We particularly didn't like the topping of onions but all in all excellent place would love to visit here again Definitely recommend. Full of flavor, clean presentations, and a very tidy place.

Jasmine C.

Yelp
Love this place. I always get the Lomo Saltado and the passion fruit cheesecake. It's located across the street from the beach and it has indoor and outdoor seating. We always sit outside to enjoy the view and breeze. Service is great and the everything I've tried has been amazing.

Paige E.

Yelp
Great food and small place. Very friendly. Loved the seafood soup. And my husband had the full fish. Ceviche was amazing too! I would go back. Best kept secret on the beach in my opinion. If you want good seafood, go here.

Malini R.

Yelp
10/10, absolutely amazing!!!! I go to Fort Lauderdale beach all the time and had no idea this place existed. It's right on the beach, off of sunrise Blvd. there is ample street parking for about $4/hour. Service was impeccable, our waitress was prompt and attentive. Food was absolutely delicious. I'm a vegetarian and there's quite a few vegetarian options on the menu, like Lomo Saltado, vegetarian ceviche, and another dish I can't remember the name of it. The only thing I would have liked is maybe have a veggie protein in place like tofu or a plant based option. Aside from that, everything was fantastic.

Ana M.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for a while and when my friend invited me to have dinner here, I didn't think twice! We sat outside and even though it was raining a little bit, there is a cover that still allows you to sit out there and not get wet. Our server was super nice and patiently explained the difference between the dishes and what were her favorites. We got the Pulpo & Calamari Saltado, the Causa de Pulpo al olivo and the Plancha Marina with added salmon. Everything was so delicious and huge portions. We were not able to finish the Plancha Marina with salmon but we ate most of it. They also had a nice selection of Peruvian craft beers!! I had a Peruvian IPA that was amazing!!! We were looking around and noticing how people were nodding and complimenting the food, we could tell everyone was happy and we definitely made the right choice coming here. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes on that menu, everything sounds so good! Highly recommended!!

Susan K.

Yelp
The food is so delicious here. The service is friendly and welcoming. The last time we stayed in Ft Lauderdale we ate here 3 times because the food was so good. Fast forward to now. We purposely chose a hotel near this restaurant. Then we worried what if the food isn't as good as we remembered. The food is exactly as good as it was which speaks highly of the owner. We plan on eating here a lot this stay as well. The ceviche trio was perfection. The flavors are terrific. The La causa is delicious with a beautiful presentation. We want to eat our way through the menu.

Amanda B.

Yelp
This is one of the best meals I've had in a while. I went with a shrimp kebob and the shrimp was perfectly cooked where it has texture and isn't over cooked, the potatoes were soft and fluffy, the corn was unique and flavorful, and lastly the sauce had me wanting to lick the plate. We had a party of 8 and everyone finished their meals and raved about them! Before the meal we were given some corn that was cooked in olive oil and with seasonings, it was such a treat! It reminded me a lot of popcorn but without the pop! I had to fight the urge to come back here for every meal on my trip! Service was also great, and the ocean view is a huge plus!

Gabrielle G.

Yelp
The food was so good here! I was a big fan of the passion fruit tuna ceviche, the boa buns were very good and our octopus/calimari saltado was great! I regret not ordering the dessert!

Elisa W.

Yelp
This Peruvian Asian Fusion restaurant was amazing! My husband and I loved every dish we tried. The flavors of passion fruit with tuna in the Tiradito Nikkei are a must! We also loved the Kam Lu Wantan, La Causa and Pulpo & Calamari Saltado (Best octopus I have ever tried). And we ended it with the Passion fruit cheesecake. The service was great. We will definitely be back!

Ken N.

Yelp
Went in to order a takeout and was completely ignored by the staff. Weird vibes. Considering all the good reviews , maybe they just don't like certain (color) clientele? Not sure. Nevertheless it was offensive situation. I embarrassingly walked away.

Joanne B.

Yelp
Small restaurant with minimal seating but food was so tasty! Great location across from the beach. Good service. Definitely will return.

Nicolas T.

Yelp
The food here was outstanding. The ceviche was fresh and full of flavor. Nice spice to it. We also had the jalea which was freshly fried and had a nice variety of food in it. The star was the Chaufa Aeropuerto . It was savory, tangy, and a grey portion of meet with the egg topping the entire dish. For dessert we had the Baked Creme Brulee French Toast . I told myself I'd have one bite but ended up splitting the dish. The raspberry compote and sweet custard on top paired perfectly with the layers of spices in the French toast. The service was fast , friendly, with the food that came out fresh. It's a cozy spot with seating outside and some great music playing inside. Definitely coming back.

Tina W.

Yelp
Love the food there. Service was great too! Cute ambiance. My daughter's fav was the pork Bao.

Paola B.

Yelp
Food l, service and the view is just amazing. We come often. Love every plate. The traditional ceviche is a must. Also try the octopus and calamari sautéed absolutely amazing! Service 5

Laura B.

Yelp
Unbelievably good! Favorite item: La causa, which was sort of a random order addition and turned out to be....one of the best things I've ever eaten. Beautifully balanced combination of Kousine's specialities. Their ceviche is terrific, tuna was a favorite. My son went the chori pan direction and he loved it. Even the rice here is terrific. So happy to find this place!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Exceptional service and the Empanadas were spectacular! The pulpo & calamari saltado was phenomenal! First experience having Peruvian beers and was not disappointed!

Julisa W.

Yelp
This gem is right on the beach. I was able to sit outside and enjoy that, which is a plus being as I'm landlocked back home. The server was attentive but not overtly so. BUT the food. The dish I got was priced $34 but honestly with how much food I got it was pretty fair for a beach front restaurant.

Mollisa S.

Yelp
What an incredible find with spectacular food. Every dish was crated to perfection and we left comfortably full. Each bite was delicious and each dish had it's own special flavor. We ordered the Tuna and lichee ceviche appetizer, Arroz Mariscos, and Shrimp skewers. I would order that exact meal over and over although I did see the Plancha Marina rush by our table and the smell was intoxicating. Hrmmm... next time! This restaurant is not to be missed!

Liz L.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the food!! I had pretty high expectations and this place exceeded all of them. The service was fantastic. The waiter was very friendly and helpful.

Nitza A.

Yelp
Wow! The food flavors out of this world! The service was amazing! Mauricio is such an amazing server... Very cozy place, location is amazing and the music fenomenal!

Yvethe R.

Yelp
OMG! This place is sooooo unassuming I'm happy it was recommended to my by a fellow foodie. Probably some of THE BEST ceviche I've ever had... and I'm hispanic so my bar is high! Staring with the location, it's perfect! Right on A1A with a view to the beach if you sit outside. There were about 6-8 tables outside, maybe same number inside. We were greeted very warmly by out waitress and ordered a glass of cava (Spanish prosecco) and she poured it LITERALLY to the brimm! We ordered the classic ceviche, a tuna ceviche and papas a la huancaina. Everything was top notch! Fresh, flavorful, amazing service, perfect location, and fair price. Five-stars all around!

Julian P.

Yelp
Beef Lomo was off the chain! Red sangria was very tasty with fruit of course! The beef empanadas won my favorite of all time (the filling isn't ground beef ;) . Stay for dessert, you won't be disappointed. Mauricio was a great waiter, helped us with food choices, and described the meals perfectly before making our final decisions.

Rick K.

Yelp
Yes, I have been there before the food is awesome.. The service was great atmosphere all of it. It was a nice experience no doubt about it.

Linda D.

Yelp
Great food. Service was leisurely but appropriate for a slow afternoon lunch. Would definitely return.

Kafi C.

Yelp
The Ceviche was the most delicious thing ever. It's been over a week and I still remember the deliciousness that it was. Best random find and I will be back. Empanadas we're on point, the Lomo needs work (under seasoned) !

Gretel Y.

Yelp
Yucca bet your bottom dollar that you'll have a great meal at Kousine! Located right across the beach, patio seating is the move especially when the weather is nice. Fortunately for me and my group, the weather was spectacular during our visit. We ordered several different items to share: Fried yucca $9 La copa $25 La causa $19 Chaufa aeropuerto $18 Arroz con mariscos $22 Ceviche classico $19 Creme brulee French toast $10 Chocolate cake $10 Everything was fresh and flavorful! The presentation was beautiful. You can tell that so much care and thought went into each dish. There's too many to describe so I'll just highlight a few. My main entree was the arroz con mariscos, which consists of Peruvian style paella, shrimp, mussels, calamari, and salsa criolla. It was excellent! Packed with protein and tasty rice. Both desserts were incredible. We were set on the baked creme brulee french toast, but our server, Carlos highly recommended the chocolate cake so we got that, too. And I'm so glad we did! The chocolate cake was perfectly moist and not too sweet. It also came with a scoop of ice cream that complemented it. The creme brulee french toast was as good as we thought it would be, if not better. My recommendation: get both desserts! Don't ask me to pick a favorite between the two desserts because I honestly can't. The food took a while to come out. They seem to be understaffed, but the two servers working that day handled the crowd well. Carlos was pleasant and helpful throughout our entire meal!

Melodie M.

Yelp
This location is epic, right across from the beach with a full beach view - can't go wrong with that! Art is served here, disguised as food, and on beautiful dishes too! Some of the dishes served are so beautiful in presentation - I would have loved to see pictures beforehand - it was a little difficult to interpret the dishes into what it would be in the end. For example, my dining partner ordered an epicly decadent dish that was served in a huge glass cup with lettuce sticking out of it, the cup contents soaked in an orange liquid. The taste was really delicious! My order, which came from the same portion of the menu, was plated in a traditional manner. Which was fine by me- I ordered the traditional ceviche and got exactly what I asked for. It was really, really pleasant. I really enjoy the acidity mixed with the soft sweet potato and the crunchy corn kernels. Likewise, the dessert menu was difficult to interpret, as the items had little description. We shared the french toast and the chocolate cake with lucuma ice cream. It was also very tasty. Unfortunately, like many restaurants these days, Kousine was terribly understaffed, thus it took a really long time for the entrees to be served, and the desserts. Our waiter was very nice, very sweet; thank you! I felt sorry for him being swamped with so many people there at lunchtime. He handled it with grace though!

Marcy Y.

Yelp
My favorite Peruvian spot by the beach! Like their sister location in Boca, Kousine hits the spot! The food, the plating, the views and the service are spot on. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. La Copa, ceviche, yuca appetizer and sangria pitcher. I would recommend taking fam/friends here when craving ceviche near Fort Lauderdale beach. Yum! It's a small location with limited seating - I recommend sitting outside.

Josephine T.

Yelp
We came here on vacation and it was okay. The service was mediocre. If you sit inside, bring a jacket! It's COLD. The wonton soup is good but they only have two spoons in the whole restaurant so no more than two people can order this dish otherwise, you will have to use a fork to eat it. Overall the food was okay and tasty but some dishes were overly saucy and too much lime juice so overpowered the dish itself. Our first time trying Peruvian Asian. I don't think I would come back as the pricing was high for the portion to flavor and ambience was lacking. The best dish was the ceviche.

Sun J.

Yelp
Small restaurant with outdoor seating sharing with restaurants next door. Food is way too oily Rice is under cooked

S G.

Yelp
Wow! What a fantastic place. Delicious, friendly, and a clean establishment. The ceviche was phenomenal, sangria excellent, and empanadas delicious.

Kevin A.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem near the touristy strip around here. Went at a pretty dead time and the Food was delish (ceviche mixto, lomo soltado, and arroz con mariscos). If/when we come back to this area, definitely coming back, despite it being a 10+ minute walk back to the hotel.

Jennifer O.

Yelp
Hands down the best place I ate at while in Florida. I'm not peruvian so I don't know how traditional their food was but it was all really good. My friends and I ordered a regular ceviche. It was one of the best ceviches I had. We did ask them to not make it too spicy bc my friend doesn't like it spicy. It was still really soft and the Leche the Tigre was amazing. We also ordered the Ku wanton with a side of Chifa, this was my second favorite dish, really nice blend of flavors, big dish definitely for two ppl to share. We also split a truffle causa. It was my first time having g cause I liked the taste but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who doesn't like cold potatoes. My absolute favorite dish was the octopus calamari Saltado. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the onions and sauce complimented it so well. We all had the pitcher of white sangria and took the chocolate cake to go. I was suprised at how the chocolate cake was. I expected a basic American chocolate cake and this was just different you must try. The restaurant is small but offers outside seating. It was a really nice day and made our experience even better. Our waitress was very nice and friendly.

Karen C.

Yelp
Delicious Peruvian food in an area without a lot of interesting places to eat. We really liked trying it. We liked everything we ordered -- a veggie dish, a pork sandwich, some interesting fruit drinks, and a noodle soup. My daughter had some ice cream for dessert that was fun to try. We would go back if in the area.

Pvill W.

Yelp
Lovely find right along the beach, with terrific food and service. I had the beef skewers (can't recall the actual name) which came beautifully plated. The flavor combinations were delightful (this is only my second experience with Peruvian cuisine). I like beef toward the rare side and it was perfectly done. They were served with just the right amount of potatoes, tomatoes and a few other bits I was too busy eating to identify. My dinner companion had one of the salads, also served in a lovely presentation and it must have been good, because there was nothing left! We shared the creme brulee french toast, which was not at all what we were envisioning, but was nonetheless delicious. We ate at one of the small tables outside - there maybe 4-6 tables outside, about the same inside. Except for the occasional smoking passerby, it was the perfect place to re-connect with an old friend. I'm glad the Cuban place we originally planned for was closed on Mondays. Be aware, this is a tiny storefront just beside the Bonnet House property - we missed it as we drove by, but there was ample public parking just past the Bonnet House and it was a lovely evening for a stroll along the beach.

Pete C.

Yelp
Looks like a nice place to eat, if the hostess had seated me. Walked up, no "good morning" or even "hello". Left me standing there waiting to be seated. Went inside the restaurant and never came back out. Either doesn't want or need my business. Swipe next. See ya, bye. The money just walked out the door.

Taryn S.

Yelp
I cannot even say in words how much I recommend this place!! Truly the hidden gem of Fort Lauderdale. The outside looks like a hole in the wall take-out restaurant but the food is at the level of a 5-STAR restaurant!! It is the best meal I have ever had. Such authentic Peruvian food. We got the ceviche mixita and it was exactly what authentic ceviche should taste like. So fresh and flavorful. Then we got the arroz con mariscas and plancha marina. The plancha marina came out smoking and both meals were presented beautifully. I cannot believe this restaurant doesn't have more traffic. It deserves to be one of the top restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. Also the people that work here are so kind and attentive. Again, I cannot recommend this place enough. PLEASE give them your business.

Ali G.

Yelp
Best seafood in town, excellent service and great drinks. Great lunch spot, generous portions

Michelle S.

Yelp
This place was at the right place at the right time, and we thought we would try something different as we love diversity and trying ethnic cuisine. This was the best breakfast I have ever had!!! Stir fry steak omelet was the bomb diggity!! The flavorings were so amazing it makes me want to go to Peru! Then we shared the creme Brule french toast w fresh strawberries! YUM! Soooo highly recommend this place...we will be back to try the ceviche!

Emmily S.

Yelp
As many FL residents know, it's very rare to find a really good restaurant on the beach that isn't overpriced and has amazing quality. Unfortunately, Kousine only halfway convinced me. The portions were great but the food such as the Chorros, Jalea & Arroz con Mariscos did not taste fresh. However, there were exceptions! The lomo saltado & Ceviche were good in seasoning and portions. The tallarin verde was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Surprisingly the best plate was the Burger a lo Pobre. All in all, the prices didn't align with the taste or quality of the food. Then again, I am comparing it to other Peruvian places so it may just work for you if you're on the rush to eat at the beach.
