This place is such a great find. It is simple and relaxed but everything about it feels genuine. A group of friends own it and work together both in the kitchen and out front, and you can really feel how much they care about the experience. The food is outstanding. Everything we tried was fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. It is clear they put a lot of heart into what they do. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are looking for good food in a laid-back spot. I am already looking forward to going back.

As soon as you open the door at Kwan Kitchen, you are greeted with a friendly ‘how can I help you?’ Seating was available and we asked for some time to go over the menu. When the server returned she was very helpful in answering questions about the menu and on what to order. Spiciness is on a scale of 1 to 5. We both ordered level 2. We started our meal with fried dumplings to share. They were excellent! We then ordered tom yum soup and two entrees to go - pad see ew and pad thai. The tom yum had veggies and shrimp and was excellent, even reheated. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, no easy feat in a soup. Pad see ew was very good and good value as it provided more than one meal. Good balance of ingredients but would order a higher spice level next time. Pad thai was likewise a good selection and tasted great reheated. Be aware there are a lot of customers picking up and the parking lot is very tight. I look forward to returning and trying their very popular curry!

Google
Friendly service, great portions, authentic Thai flavors. Loved that they have Longan drink and it’s not too sweet. My favorite dish was the Panang curry, the flavors were perfectly well balanced and the kaffir lime leaves slices add so much aromatics. Moo-ping is something I love to order and this one did not disappoint. Sauce for it was legit and even came with sticky rice. The only thing we had that I wouldn’t order again - the khao mun gai. The chicken was really dry and the rice lacked flavor. But I would definitely go back and order other dishes to try! Service was great! Everyone was so friendly and patient and polite. Parking - small free parking lot. Easy parking, we didn’t have any issues.

Google
Really good Thai food with huge portions. Pad kee mao had a great wok hey taste and was flavorful. Pad Thai was flavorful but a bit sweet. Hat yai style fried chicken was crispy and juicy. Tom yum was delicious and aromatic and fragrant but even the mild was pretty spicy. Longan drink was unique. Probably my new favorite Thai spot in the 626 ish area

Google
The staff is incredibly kind and the food is absolutely amazing!!! We ordered the tom kha, pad thai, and pad kee mao - every single dish was absolutely packed with flavor and was soooo tasty!!! We will definitely be back next time we're in the area!!!

Google
Came on a weekday night and was pleasantly surprised! Got crab fried rice, chicken combo and green curry. Wow the fried chicken and hainanese chicken combo was devine!! The batter is perfectly crispy and airy yet inside is super flavorful, juicy and tender! Love the soup, rice and sauce came with it too. Crab fried rice was also delicious but crab meat was a bit cold as I think they threw that in last so could use a bit more cooking time to warm up. Green curry is good too but nothing crazy. Very friendly staff and clean/modern establishment. Will be back!

Google
I ordered from this place for the first time for a small get-together, and I was so pleasantly surprised! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was fantastic, super friendly and accommodating. I’d been struggling to find a local Thai spot that offers a full range of appetizers like moo ping, chicken satay, papaya salad, and crying tiger. It’s surprisingly hard to find a place that nails traditional dishes and has great noodles and curries, but this spot did it all. Everything was delicious and all my friends loved it.

Google
I just wanted good Thai food. I googled and saw the almost-perfect rating for this place, so I wanted to try it. I really wanted it to be great, and would have been happy to add my own positive review, but my experience was anything but positive. I called at 8:30 pm - they close at 9. I said I wanted to order for pick-up and they said, FIRMLY, that I would have to get there no later than 8:45 for them to take my order. It almost sounded like they didn't even want to take it, but I assured them I'd be there, and rushed. I was hungry and wanted to be sure to get my food. I arrived in time, only to find that my order was not ready, and then, as I patiently waited, another customer arrived, and placed an order! There was no hesitation with this order, they took it happily, smiling. And it really upset me. I told them I wasn't happy that I had to rush, only to find my food was not ready, and then they took a much later order with pleasure? Why? The only thing I could see was that that person was Asian and I am not. . I'm not saying that was the reason, but what else am I to think? I also made a point of asking them whether they had included a straw for me in the bag for the young coconut I ordered. They said they did. Upon arriving home, I found NO straw. As for the food, it was just OK. I've had much tastier Pad Thai all over LA. This is nothing special and I'd actually say it was less than good. I decided to call them today, to try to talk to a manager and let them know how disappointing the experience was, hoping they would give me a reason NOT to post a bad review. But it just got worse. There was no manager, the person I spoke with hardly spoke English, and rather than giving me a kind apology, basically blew me off, then HUNG UP ON ME. So, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I'm disgusted by this treatment and felt others should know. I am new to google reviews but have written MANY positive YELP reviews, lest you think I'm just a complainer. I love to report on good food and service. Sadly, I can't say anything positive at all about this restaurant.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! Really enjoyed our time here the atmosphere of the shop was also very beautiful with bright sunlight and chic decors. We got... Tom kha: 9/10 got more of a sour kick than the green curry so it opens up your appetite Green curry: 10/10 would demolish the whole bowl by myself Pad Thai with beef: 7/10 nothing too special the beef could be more tender Chicken w rice: 8/10 definitely prefer the fried chicken more I've had more flavorful Hainan chickens The price was fair and they don't skimp on the portions. I was craving green curry and I'm glad I found this place, can't wait to come back! The thai tea perfectly complements the meal.

Yelp
Kwan Kitchen feels like crashing your grandmother's cooking session except grandma also went to culinary school. The outside is unassuming but the food hits you like a revelation. Kao moo dang arrives with crispy pork that deserves its own fan club. The rice is sticky in the best way and shallots rain down like edible confetti. The fried chicken and sticky rice combo is so crunchy you start questioning why anyone eats anything else. It tastes homey but also elevated enough to make you feel like you are at a party in Bangkok. Every dish feels both comforting and new. You will walk out feeling like you just got a hug from food itself. Kwan Kitchen makes simple dishes feel like star performers.

Yelp
Yummy pad see ew with beef. The beef was very tasty and not tough, as it often is from other places. The noodles didn't have the charred taste I usually associate with the dish, but I still enjoyed it. I was quoted 15 minutes for pickup and it was ready faster than that.

Yelp
Everything is perfect, very authentic Thai food. It is a small store in a very low key location, but the food is very good. Pad Thai is my favorite, and I can consume dishes of rice with that curry! Service is warm.

Yelp
First visit. Came to meet friends for dinner to celebrate my birthday. I had never heard of Kwan Kitchen, so I honestly had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised with the friendly service and tasty food. Plenty of parking in the small plaza lot during the evening. Small space with several tables. Seems like it might be a big overcrowded with a full house. One unisex bathroom available near the counter. Looks like they'd made some changes to the menu. Strips of paper were applied to the menus to cover items that I assume as just not available anymore. A menu update would be nice. There were inconsistencies among the menus on the table. The table ordered several items: pad thai, thai tea, tom yum soup, fried rice. I had some of the tom yum soup. Can't get enough of lemon grass flavor. It was delicious. Although we were a little disappointed that we asked for a large order and it was a smaller vessel than what we had expected. We were accustomed to seeing the large fire heated hot pot that provides larger servings. We were quite pleased with the flavor though. I ordered my go to Pad See Ew with beef and Chinese broccoli ($14). Loved it. The serving size was decent. A very shareable size. I was able to bring home a lot of the leftovers to enjoy the next day. We've been searching for better Thai options in the area. Glad to have Kwan Kitchen in the rotation now.

Yelp
Wow the half Hainan Chicken/Fried Chicken is excellent. Can't wait to try other dishes here.

Yelp
Delicious! Flavors were on point and well represented. Spice level is biased way down. Medium was barely any. Kind folks, quick service. It's a casual place in a strip mall. As it should be. Their specialty pad Thai is great, as is the Panang curry and crab fried rice.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is solid! Enjoyed the pad see ew and yellow curry, among other items. They have good packaging for door dash orders.

Yelp
A delicious Thai spot in the heart of Pasadena! I stopped by for lunch and I got the beef pad thai with a thai tea on the side. My dish was filling, had a good amount of spice, and it was very flavorful. My thai tea was refreshing and creamy and had a strong flavor and it paired well with my food. Service was friendly and the interior was well-lit, clean and modern. They have a variety of Thai dishes available to try and it's a good spot for lunch or dinner! Check out this spot if you are craving for some delicious Thai food!

Yelp
Saw that Kwan Kitchen has pretty high ratings and I'm into Thai food so decided to check them out. Parking during lunch was a bit limited in the small lot due to all the vehicles belonging to the employees and patrons of the vet hospital next door. The server was very welcoming and attentive. The menu has some interesting items. The Kwan pad Thai served with crispy pork was legit and a little on the sweeter side, which reminded me of what I had in Chiangrai. The pad kee mao was also pretty good. The hotpot was a bit disappointing tho. It was basically a seafood tom yum with ramen noodles. Unfortunately it seems that they used preprocessed squid and shrimps. The preservative sodium tripolyphosphate turns the seafood a bit translucent and yields an artificial crunch and a bit of sulfur smell. This is a major pet peeve for me. No self respecting cook should ever use that stuff. Furthermore, at $25, it seemed a bit overpriced.

Yelp
Absolutely freshest made chicken wing appetizer and pad Thai dishes. All came out hot from the kitchen and wonderfully delicious! There was an abundance of crispy garlic in the chicken wing basket that we sprinkled on Kwan Specialty pad Thai order. Service is on-point by a team of females in a small storefront. Ambiance is simple, clean industrial look and casual friendly. Parking is in the plaza location.

Yelp
Great food. Got to go. Had papaya salad, Kwan pad Thai, hainan chicken and green curry. I also picked up drinks in store. Service was excellent and I was able to deliver lunch for three adults quickly after ordering online!

Yelp
Doordashed food and it was very yummy! All the meals were flavorful and delicious. We ordered the green curry, pad thai, and pad see ew
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty Thai food and friendly service at this clean restaurant located on the corner of a strip mall with free parking. Its minimalist decor fits with a quick meal. Recommend the Thai iced tea, green curry, and pad see eww (slightly on the sweeter side but still good). Portions are big too for around $14-15 for the main rice or noodle dish. Good spot for Thai food!
google avatar

Yelp
Got here on a weekday for lunch and got seated right away. Got Kao Mun Kai (combination), which is a combination of Hainan chicken and fried chicken. There are two sauces provided for the chicken that are Thai-inspired! The portion is very big! The fried chicken is super crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside! I love the sauces that came with the dish - very umami! There is parking in the plaza but it might get full easily - there is some street parking as well. Staff was extremely friendly!

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with friends for dinner. The food was excellent, and the service was impeccable. We also tried their sticky rice mango, which was absolutely delicious. I'm definitely planning to return for more.

Yelp
Ordered pickup from Jean Kitchen thai food. Attaching receipt with prices. The tin kha soup with chicken @$16.95 it tasted good and was temp hot and was medium heat as requested. It had uneven peeled chunks of tomatoe, lemon grass, mushrooms, but the chicken pieces were very tough not tender. The pad see ew was on the small side expected to go container to be filled. It tasted fantastic and loved the flavor of hot sauce! Just wanted more @ $16 and loved the wok hay flavor and crunchy veggies.
google avatar

Yelp
Don't let the name fool you. It's Thai cuisine, not Chinese. It's a small space, so I'd avoid peak hour. The food is good. I had Panang Curry with tofu. You get a generous amount of tofu, but not enough sauce. Hubby tried Kao Moo Dang, and no complaint. The Thai Tea was just right. This is a good neighborhood Thai restaurant with easy parking.

Yelp
Wow! Absolutely recommend Kwan Kitchen if you are looking for delicious Thai food in Pasadena. From the Sua Rong Hai to the Mama Hot Pot, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Seriously!!! End your meal with the Sticky Mango for dessert and you'll walk away happy.

Yelp
Thumbs up! We've been searching for a great Thai place in our new neighborhood and found it today in Kwan Kitchen. Ordered the Won Ton Soup, the yellow curry (chicken) and the mango sticky rice, not a loser in the pack. The only thing I wish they'd add is brown rice option but aside from that everything was perfect and we'll definitely return. I would add the order was on time and perfect, whomever handed it to me was friendly and professional.

Yelp
Decided to check out Kwan Kitchen after reading some of the reviews. It's fairly new and a fairly busy strip mall. Parking was ample during lunchtime and conveniently near a Metro stop. The place has a modern sleek vibe but warm and friendly. Ordered food for pickup and they were very fast. The vegetable egg rolls were great, good crunch and tasty filling and will try the shrimp egg rolls next time. The larb was tasty, very herbaceous but I would have preferred lettuce cups to cabbage, but I'm no larb expert. The star dish has got to be Kwan's Pad Thai. The noodles, sauce, shrimp, egg etc puts it in the top 10 but the addition of crispy pork belly made it S tier. Adding crispy pork pieces to any dish should be an option in all restaurants. 5 stars
google avatar

Novia E.

Yelp
Ordered them first on food delivery platform and also came in person to their physical restaurant. I guess it's just steps away from where I live. I believe their dishes the one that I tried, which are chicken rice and the noodle 'Bakmee' are legit good! This became my new favorite Thai place in the area. I cannot wait to try even more. I'm not a big fan of Pad Thai (since it's not originally Thai dish anyway) but can't wait to try other dishes they have! Their Instagram is active and always post new menus! The vibe is welcoming when I tried to pick up my order!

Yelp
Love this Thai place! Authentic and delicious Thai food; very friendly customer service and always accommodating. This place gives good competition to other Thai restaurants around Pasadena. Love their Pad Thai and they have their special one with the crispy pork. Love the Kao Man Kai (which is Hainan chicken), you can also order it as combination of the steam and fried Hainan chicken. Tom Kha and Green Curry are among of my favorites as well. Very decadent, the lemongrass inn the Tom Kha (coconut soup) is so fragrant. Recently tried their Mama Hot Pot and asked to change the noodle to rice noodle which they were able to. Asked for medium spicy level. When it came out, immediately that beautiful fragrant smell of lemongrass and lime hit my nose and knew that this is love at first scent. This one is a must try. Can't wait to eat it again. This place also sometimes participates in Thai night market DS night market in chinatown. But not sure about the menu they have at the market. Shout out to June..! Their regular staff there, is very helpful and nice. Always a pleasure coming in and seeing her there. Parking is easy and plenty in their private lot.

Yelp
We had chicken pad Thai, Chicken Satay and the chicken satay, and the chicken dumplings.Chicken dumplings were good but the chicken satay and the Pad Thai chicken was fantastic. Service was courteous and casual. Atmosphere casual and pleasant.

Yelp
I've only ordered take out here, but the people working are very friendly and the food is damn good! I've tried the moo ping, pad see ew with chicken, and the shrimp thom kha with shrimp. The moo ping was bomb! Pad see ew can be very hit or miss for me but I really loved this one! the shrimp in the thom kha was juicy and not fishy at all. The thom kha itself was delicious and full of flavor. I ordered it medium spicy and it was pretty mild I would say, so if you like it hot, go spicy. Prices are pretty average, but not bad considering everything seems to be fresh, full of flavor, and good quality! Overall this place is a gem in south pas and I can't wait to keep coming back and trying more items on their menu :)
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the best Thai food in Pasadena. The flavors are bold, fresh, and deeply satisfying. I ordered takeout and was honestly blown away by how good everything still tasted by the time I got home--no sogginess, no loss of flavor. Generous portions, too. You can tell they put care into each dish. This place is a gem. Can't wait to dine in next time.

Yelp
Delicious is all I've got to say! Awesome service and beautiful ambiance! We also have some food allergies and the staff helped us walk through some of the items on the menu that were recommended!

Sandra L.

Yelp
Excellent food in a setting that's youthful in the best way--easy parking, humane prices, tasty fresh food, cheerful quick service. Elderly gourmands (we are in our sixties and are being constantly waylaid by gastrobar overpromising and $120 checks for barely elevated snack food and an incorrectly understood glass of oaky Chardonnay)... Just hie on down to this Arroyo Parkway mini strip mall and savor Kwan's kickass pad Thai! (so many entrees under $15)!
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
Yum good was great. Super friendly staff. Easy to find parking as there is a lot there. Crispy pork was our favorite. Crab fried rice was good, pad siew ew was cooked well. A bit spicier than expected at mild but would definitely return.

Yelp
absolutely delicious!! hit the spot for a quick lunch and the staff was incredibly attentive. very cutely decorated inside as well! would def come back
google avatar

Yelp
A spacious takeout and dining restaurant, with parking available outside. The menu was simple to navigate. Staff was friendly. Food was crafted quickly and served fresh from the stove. Shrimp stick was fried well-right, along with a creamy-spiced curry and bouncy noodles with slow-cooked pork.
google avatar

Yelp
I had their shrimp pad Thai and it was really good. Seems like it's family owned. Customer service was great!!! The pad Thai noodles were fresh and the shrimp were jumbo. It had about seven jumbo shrimp and the chili sauce coated the shrimp well. I ordered medium heat but it wasn't spicy at all. Next time I'll order hot. Definitely coming back when I'm craving Thai food in Pasadena!!!

Another thing: one of the things I love about Thai food is the little sweet cucumber side dish that comes with it. Theirs had no sweet liquid in it - was just dry and not flavorful as it usually is. Also, I saw reviews saying it had a great atmosphere. I have to laugh at that. It's plain as can be. I decided to call them today, to try to talk to a manager and let them know how disappointing the experience was, hoping they would give me a reason NOT to post a bad review. I sincerely wanted to avoid it. But it just got worse. There was no manager, the person I spoke with hardly spoke English, and rather than giving me a kind apology, basically blew me off, then HUNG UP ON ME. So, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I'm disgusted by this treatment and underwhelmed by the food, and felt others should know. I write lots of positive reviews, lest you think I'm just one who likes to complain. But sadly, there is nothing positive to say about this place.

Yelp
Small menu but done right! Got Chicken Wings, Beef Fried Rice and Pork Pad See Ew. Lady at the front was super nice and threw in extra sauce for my to go back! Chicken wings were INSANELY crispy. A beautiful crunch pillow around each one. If there were 20 wings I would've mowed each one down. Beef Fried Rice was flavorful with fluffy rice. Only slight negative was beef was a little chewy but the flavors were there. Pork Pad See Ew was sauced with tender noodles. Pork cooked perfectly with basil and chinese broccoli. Added a little of my own chili oil to the top to add more spice. Spice levels are definitely muted but I blame that on local neighborhood. Will def come back to try more again!

Yelp
Both the food and the service are superior here. I ordered low sugar Pad Thai, Yellow Curry with Tofu, steamed dumplings, and egg rolls. I sampled them all, and amazing, amazing, amazing! Additionally, I picked up an unsweetened iced tea, and it tasted like freshly made tea--excellent! I was waited by June, who is a warm-hearted, respectful person. Kwan Kitchen is the best Thai food in the area.
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
Parking is convenient here, and the staff knows how to make dishes spicy. I did feel that portions were a bit small for the amount paid (at least on my visit), so while me and my friend liked our meal enough we aren't convinced about returning again.

Yelp
This place is fairly new and I had the chance to pick up food twice. It has always been a pleasure coming in. The place is very such a cute spot to have lunch or dinner at and the staff are over so welcoming. They do have their own little parking area in the plaza so that is a plus. There is also street parking as well if you find yourself in a pickle trying to find parking in their lot. I've ordered the Kwan Pad Thai and the normal Pad Thai both of which are delicious. I think the only difference between the two is the pork in the Kwan Pad Thai. It reminds me of chicarrones chips. Either way, both are delicious. Oh, and the Thai tea is refreshing as well.

Yelp
As a Thai person, i highly recommend this place. Its so hard to find Kow Man Gai Tod, which is fried Hainan chicken, but this place got it! And its soooo good!! They also got Fried chicken with sticky rice, which i also highly recommend. I almost teared up eating it since I havent had this kind of fried chicken with sticky rice since I was a kid, when I was still living in Thailand. Their service is also amazing, this is my third time coming here and they remember me they always greet their customer warmly and make them feel super welcome!

Deissy D.

Yelp
I came here to eat with a friend and we got the Pad Thai, Mooping, Papaya salad, and mango sticky rice. It was all perfectly made and extremely yummy and the service was amazing! Definitely recommend trying this place out!

Yelp
Thai food is one of, if not my favorite cuisine. Was pleased to find a new place to add to the rotation. Food was excellent, and so was the service.

Yelp
Kwan Kitchen's opening menu featured a small set of items, perfect for people who are overwhelmed with options (yes, I am one of these people :( ). A few glances around the restaurant, and I almost wished that i ordered the papaya salad since it looked delicious! Our party settled on Kwan's Pad Thai, Massaman curry, and Krapow. The Krapow was quite salty, not helped by the side spicy soy sauce, either. To admit, though, the spicy sauce provided was delicious, and I almost wished that this sauce was provided with unmarinated beef. The Pad Thai akin to their Krapow was strong in flavor. It was quite sour and sweet and would have benefited from dialing it back a bit. Their crispy pork, though deserves some recognition, as that is some of the best crispy pork that I've ever had. I barely recalled any great, and it had the same great crunch as would be expected. Both times, I their strong flavors led me to drink water like no tomorrow, and getting refills was a chore. Massaman Curry is one of my favorite foods, and I was sad that it came out way too sweet, though at this point was not surprised. I wanted to finish dinner full, and ordered a second bowl of rice. Quite admittedly, even ordering a bowl of rice took some time. I would be interested in returning in the future for Kwan's Pad Thai again and to see if their flavor profiles are more "tamed." After all, that crispy pork is like no other - ooh what an unexpected delight! I hope to see how they improve from their opening menu!

Yelp
Wow, this place has excellent Thai food. We've been trying to find a good Thai restaurant for years, and we're so thankful this place opened!

Yelp
Kwan Kitchen brings all the right ingredients for an all around formidable dinning experience. My wife and I have been coming since they opened their doors and I now write this overdue review in testament of their continuous commitment to delicious food and attentive and friendly service. The Momma Hot Pot is simply out of this world! And Kwan's Pad Thai will surely meet your expectations of a fresh and rich in flavor dish. For all the spicy connoisseurs, dare to enjoy their Thai spicy and you will not be disappointed. Cheers to the best Thai Food in Pasadena, CA!
