Houston's Restaurant & Bar Openings - Houston - The Infatuation

"KWO is the latest stall to open at the Post food hall downtown. This sushi spot has nigiri and maki options like the “sushi hot dog” and “flamin’ aburi sake,” which comes with salmon and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. If you’re a chips and sushi separatist, you can opt for a chicken teriyaki bowl or crispy brussel sprouts." - brooke viggiano, gianni greene, chelsea thomas

Houston Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, February 2025 | Eater Houston

"Located in POST Houston’s food hall (which replaced chef Paul Qui’s Eastside Kings), this new Japanese spot is run by wife-chef duo Fabi and Daniela Guevara and offers a combination of traditional and more innovative sushi rolls alongside small plates and hearty rice bowls. Menu highlights include edamame, dumplings, crispy fried Brussels sprouts, and rice bowls such as chicken teriyaki, spicy tuna, and pork belly." - Brittany Britto Garley

Ordered KWO Sushi at POST Houston for delivery, and overall the food itself was okay, though definitely on the higher end price-wise. I understand restaurants have real overhead—rent, labor, and operating costs aren’t cheap—so higher pricing isn’t the issue by itself. The problem was execution. My check total was about 54ish so sloppiness on the business or third party delivery service but no cutlery in an order? Bills can’t be that high. An item I ordered was missing, and on top of that, no cutlery was included. That’s basics 101 for delivery, especially at this price point. These aren’t small details; they directly affect the customer experience and are usually caught with proper checks before orders go out. I’ve noticed there are some recent positive reviews, which is great, but if you dig a little deeper, you’ll see repeated complaints similar to what I experienced—and more. That points less to one-off mistakes and more to a training and systems issue. Unfortunately, I felt that firsthand today. For what’s being charged, I expect accurate orders and solid customer service—not to be double-checking what should already be standard. The food was fine, but when pricing is premium, the service has to match. Right now, it doesn’t. Hopefully ownership revisits staff training and quality control, because the potential is there—but the experience needs to make sense for the price being paid.

I stopped by Friday of this week around 8pm and from the start this place was packed a whole line of people I probably waited in line for about 7 minutes it moved pretty smooth. When I got to the register the guy who took my order was really nice he was really friendly so customer service was amazing, I ended up ordering the chicken teriyaki bowl I did add siracha sauce on my bowl I enjoy a little bit of spice on my food. After I ordered my food the wait time was around 13 minutes not bad. Once I sat down I LOVEDDD the way my food looked everything looked delicious taste wise it was 10000/10 I will be coming back soon they did not disappoint, now I understand the line of people waiting to order this place is definitely worth it.

Google
The best sushi place in the entire downtown area — 100% recommended! They offer an incredible variety of options, from vegetarian and raw sushi to poke bowls and much more. Their sushi rolls are not only plentiful but also showcase impressive creativity and innovation, featuring combinations you would never imagine. The flavors are fresh, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or trying it for the first time, this place delivers a memorable dining experience with unique dishes and a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit for sushi lovers!”

I was honestly surprised by how fresh and delicious the food was! My dish, which had different kinds of fish, was incredibly tasty and full of flavor. If you’re at Post and not sure what to try, Kwo Sushi is definitely one of the best choices.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ KWO Sushi at Post Houston is absolutely phenomenal! The teriyaki baby pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, crispy on the edges, and glazed with a rich, caramelized sauce — pure perfection. The chicken katsu bowl was golden, juicy, and packed with flavor, easily one of the best in town. The Oishidesu Roll blew me away with its creamy, spicy layers, and the Flamin’ Aburi Sake Roll was the ultimate showstopper — seared salmon on top, smoky and buttery in every bite. From presentation to taste, everything was flawless. Houston needed this kind of sushi spot — 100% recommend! 🍣🔥

Google
I stopped by KWO Sushi today and I ordered a chirashi bowl and it was so worth it from the start I was greeted by the cashier she was really nice and helpful since it was my first time at the post she was very polite she gave me a run down on the menu and I decided on the chirashi and from the presentation to the taste it is worth every penny , I was so impressed with the presentation of my food the bowl looked amazing and tasted fresh 10/10 would recommend and will be coming back for more.

The post is a really cool place to visit and eat food! Note that on the weekend you have to pay for parking. It is $5 per hour. The food here was decent I wouldn't rate it very high so gave it an average of three stars. I tried to sushi rolls and they were sub par. The role with the flaming hit Cheetos seemed exciting but the Cheetos on top seemed kind of stale and not crunchy like when you open a bag of fresh cheetos. The salmon on top was great though. The yellowtail role was decent. The chicken katsu was alright. Churros were not worth the money. Overall would not come back again for sushi. It's very average food and not something to head to the Post to try. I do have to give a big kudos to the employees there because they were very friendly and made it nice for our first time visit.

Google
Had a great experience at KWO Sushi, our ribs were hot, has a crispy outer layer and moist Center. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions. KWO Sushi has a large menu and big drink options. Will be back next time we visit Houston!

Yelp
Food was decent, I enjoyed it. They put their own twist on it and make it worth the price. It was fresh and inventive. They will customize/add things if you want to your roll too, which I liked bc I like jalapenos in everything! Service? Meh Ambiance? Food court, find a table and do your thing.

Yelp
Sushi is to be expected from a food hall. The sushi was squished from being cut. Presentation wasn't half bad. Sushi was at least room temp and not cold. Service was really slow, though it was a Saturday night. Overall, if you're craving sushi and at POST don't expect high quality, but it's not terrible.

Yelp
New food stall inside of The Conservatory at the Galleria is really great. I order the classic Bento Box and you get a lot of food for a decent price. It comes with teriyaki chicken, brussels sprouts, dumplings, wakame salad, rice and a choice of sushi roll. I went with the Spicy Salmon Roll. All the food was great, I really enjoyed the spicy salmon roll. The young man talking the order was really nice. He explained the menu and gave good suggestions. The food only took about 10 or 15 mins to prepare. I'm looking forward to going back and trying a bowel or more rolls.

Yelp
Food - 4.5/5 so fresh and looks exactly like the pictures! Service was quick and efficient. The cashier knew just what to recommend. I take it as a good sign that the line was long and people ordered a lot of food. My friend got the Brussels sprouts (not pictured) and they were a 10! I would def come back.

Yelp
Got to try KWO sushi at the Post the other day! I had the orange blossom special roll. This was delicious- tasted super fresh and it has orange pieces mixed in with the salmon. This was something I've never seen before so I was curious as to how this would be presented on the sushi. The sushi was a bit oblong shaped, which made it awkward to eat, but still delicious! At first I was thinking of getting a bowl with salmon or tuna, but the bowl seemed overpriced to have so few ingredients. The person working at the counter noted that that's why they don't call it poke. He was super friendly and helpful. My partner had the teriyaki chicken, which I got to taste a piece of - not bad! Wouldn't mind coming back here again when I come back to Post, especially if I'm craving sushi!

Yelp
It's food court sushi so didn't expect too much but it was very plain, no flavor in shrimp tempura roll or California roll. $30 for weak sushi.

Yelp
Food is fabulous and absolutely love the Brussel sprouts! People and customer service is great and they are always eager to help! Definitely a must if you are at the POST food hall!
