The Best Restaurants and Bars in Reno, Nevada | Eater Vegas

"Trends come and go, but Kwok’s Bistro remains a reliable Reno staple for consistently excellent Chinese food with a strong Cantonese influence. The business operates in a minimalist, stand-alone structure just west of the big downtown casinos. Chef and owner Kwok Chen, an entrepreneur who worked his way up the industry ladder from busing tables in casinos, presents traditional recipes in approachable packages with bright pops of garlic, ginger, and onions alongside wok-fired meat and seafood. Chen’s attention to detail is best represented by his Beijing duck, which takes days to prepare and is dry-hung in a traditional rub for a crunchy exterior. Order the whole thing for dinner with a side of moo shu wraps or a quarter-size serving on rice for lunch. Newcomers can’t go wrong with the familiarity of kung pao chicken or black pepper beef, but the heavy heat of the sliced, stir-fried lamb will awaken the senses of anyone who appreciates bold flavors.a" - Rob Kachelriess

Google
Cozy, amazing restaurant with some of the best Asian dishes I've ever eaten. Really impressive quality all around. Prices range from $22-37 dollars for entrees with the bulk floating around $25. We had made reservations a few weeks in advance, and that was good because there would have been no indoor seating otherwise. The interior space is small, but perfectly suited to the service and atmosphere of the restaurant. We ordered 4 dishes: 1) Spicy Pork Tenderloin -- 10/10 -- perfect dish -- the most tender, large slices of pork with chunks of fresh jalapeno 2) Pan Fried Noodles with Pork -- 8/10 -- Pork was tender, but came up short compared to the spicy tenderloin. Still quite delicious. The noodles are very crispy and crunchy which provides a contrast of texture. 3) Sezchuan Lamb -- 9/10 -- amazing, just like the tenderloin, a little less spicy but still has a kick and very tender but not as tender as the tenderloin. Sorry to compare everything to the tenderloin! 4) Ginger noodles with Shrimp 🦐 -- 6/10 -- the least impressive, and most expensive entree that we ordered -- the shrimp were big and very delicious and there were plenty of them, but it just didn't compare to the other three less expensive entrees. We also had green tea 10/10, half a roast duck 🦆 with tortilla, sweet buns, and hoisin sauce for $45 which everyone enjoyed, and finally a bottle of Sake 🍶 for $52 that was chilled and complimented the meal perfectly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to pay a fair price for amazing food.

Google
Oh my God, I'm so glad I found this gem of a restaurant. I was in town for work and I wanted some good food, and from the suggestion from a local friend I made my way to Kwoks. Now initially the place looked unassuming but when I got inside I was greeted and taken care of by their lovely staff. Now I got in on a Thursday afternoon (5pm) right before you needed a reservation so keep that in mind if you are wanting to go. Now to the food. I ordered the XO green beans and the salted fish fried rice and omg did they not disappoint at all. Great flavors that weren't heavy and perfectly balanced. Hats off to the chef (who actually came out to greet and interact with his customers!). Any time I'm in Reno I will be paying Kwoks a visit for sure. 10/10

They are very welcoming and very friendly going over the menu with us. The food was delish, we got the hot and sour soup, fried calamari, and pot stickers to start all very good. The tofu and veggies and crab fried rice with sweet and spicy shrimp. Only disappointed we couldn't try more, we were too full 😅

Google
Our driver recommended Kwoks and it is by FAR some of the BEST Asian cuisine I've had. The food is soooo fresh!

Went with a group of 6 for a business dinner. This was my first time being able to enjoy Kwok’s dining experience. We all ordered an entree and shared. Appetizers: chicken wings and shu-mai-both phenomenal. Entrees: Chicken w fresh shiitake mushroom Generals chicken Beef and broccoli Ginger noodles with shrimp Stir fried Eggplant Honey shrimp Stir fried asparagus. Combination fried rice The service is phenomenal. It’s a small restaurant and is by reservation only. While the Chinese food scene in Reno is greatly lacking, taking that into consideration, this is the best Chinese food I’ve had since moving here 3.5 years ago. All of the above food we ordered was amazing. I have zero complaints from this establishment. Grab your girl and take her to Kwok’s! You won’t regret it!!

Google
Kwok's is a total hidden gem! It's this cozy little spot with amazing food and even better service. Winnie and her team are always super friendly and remember your name, which is so nice. The food is top-notch. I'm a big fan of their popstickers – they're the perfect size for sharing. And if you're gluten-free, they've got you covered. I recently tried their house fried rice, and it was so flavorful! The only downside is that it's a small place, so make sure to book a table ahead of time.

Google
Great food best enjoyed family style so you can taste a little of everything! Service was amazing, very responsive to questions and always had great recommendations. Highly recommend a visit! Make a reservation if you plan on eating in.

Google
What an incredible experience, through and through! We didn't have reservations but they managed to squeeze us in and made us feel so welcome. The food is devine!!! I honestly can't rave enough about it. It was so good that we went back the next day to get our fix before heading out of town. The restaurant is small but they don't put in too many tables to make you feel crowded. They leave a good amount of space for their patrons to enjoy their meals. I HIGHLY recommend eating here. Try to get a reservation if you can. If you can't, order take out. You don't want to miss this place!

Yelp
Service was amazing. Dumpling was disappointing, basically giant meatball. Pea sprouts were excellent. Duck was OK. Very quaint, very clean restaurant.

Yelp
Came in on a Friday at 4:00 PM. I called about 20 minutes before they opened to see if they had any spots open since it is reservation only. They also offer takeout if you don't have reservations. The space is very small, with about 9 indoor tables and a couple covered ones outside, which makes for a cozy atmosphere, though it can get a little noisy as you can hear other diners' conversations pretty easily. The service was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Our water glasses were never empty. We started with the special of the day, Pacific Oysters, which were absolutely the highlight of the meal. Most oysters in the Reno area are straight up disgusting but these were the best I've had here. The Five Spice Chicken Wings were also excellent. They were super crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. Though they came out piping hot, so be ready to wait a minute before digging in. The Five Spice Pork was very tasty and flavorful. Contrary to the name though it wasn't spicy at all. The Honey Glazed Prawns were good but something was off about the flavor that's difficult to describe. Perhaps it was the mayo or the lack of breading. Overall it's a great restaurant if you're looking for an Asian meal with a gourmet touch. The space is small, so it can feel a little tight, but that's also part of what makes it feel special.

Yelp
National Recognition of Kwok's Bistro Kwok's has been my favorite Chinese restaurant in this area since my first visit in 2019. There has to be a lot of truth to my previous reviews because I am one voice of many that believe the same. A quote from the Edible Reno Tahoe Magazine/Periodical: 'Kwok's Bistro was ranked Number 12 by Food and Wine in a 2024 list of Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in America." If you have not been to Kwok's, make a reservation. Limited tables, great cuisine. My kind of place.

Yelp
A perrenial favorite amongst our friends, we were eager to try Kwoks. Its a small restaurant, with only 7 tables (by my count) so be sure to make a reservation. I believe reservations are required on weekends. We went to Kwoks before catching a show at the Pioneer, so leftovers wasn't going to a great option, which forced us to order only a few plates. The consensus of the table, the prize dish was the Honey Walnut Prawns. Crunchy with a hint of sweetness, the prawns were cooked to perfection. Often Honey Walnut Prawns are just too sweet, not at Kwoks. Perfection. The second favorite dish, out our table was the Braised Tofu with Vegetables. The tofu was flavorful, simmered in a delicious sauce. Served with mushrooms and accompanied with baby bok choi. A delicious and healthy dish. Next came the 5 spice Pork. Fried Pork slices tossed with 5 Spice Salt, Jalapeños, Garlic and Scallions. The pork was served boneless, a small but welcome detail. The pork was flavorful, tender and moist. The last dish was the Beef Chow Fun with Gravy. Stir-fried Ho Fun Noodles with House Gravy, Bok Choy and choice of Chicken, Beef or Pork. Also served with baby Bok Choi. The Chow Fun noodles were delicious but tended to stick together so a bit of work to separate them. A small detail in an otherwise delightful dish. The service was prompt, welcoming and professional, especially for such an intimate restaurant. A great first visit, we look forward to planning our next.

Yelp
The food looked amazing, but when we got there the host said they only took reservations, and offered take out, but the problem is we don't have a place to eat other than the hotel. Kwoks has a full patio, which we saw a couple being served at. I asked the host if we could sit outside if we did take out, and he gave us a ride, well technically yes, but we don't want you to. My wife and I had spent an hour trying to pick a great place for dinner, and it was wasted finding this place. More infuriating is I looked on Yelp, Google, and the website and didn't see this information anywherez though is was posted on the window. What a waste of time.

Yelp
Just happened to be here before heading back to the airport to catch my flight! If I can give a restaurant a 20/10 rating I will give it to Kwok's anytime any day! I am not kidding in saying this.....THE BEST CHINESE CANTONESE FOOD I've ever had in America!! This may sound outrageous to anyone reading my review but I invite you to check this place out when you visit Reno. They are only open for dinner at time from 4-9 pm and make sure to make a reservation. It's only a tiny place and a few tables so they only take reservations. But they said that during summer when the weather is pleasant, they have an outdoor seating. I ordered from their chef's special menu and got the rice paper roll with pork and shrimp and their black pepper beef and shrimp claypot. Both were just unbelievably gastronomically delicious. The rice paper roll was very delicate but bursting with flavor and you did it in this soy seasoning. Ask for some chili oil on the side if you like it spicy. The claypot was just overflowing with goodness! The beef was so tender and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. It was served in a small cast iron pot and you can taste the medley of flavors of a hint of sweetness, the pepper flavor, the hint of ginger added so much depth to the dish with onion and bell peppers. After you read this review, and if you happen to be in Reno or Tahoe area, pls do yourself a favor and drop every thing you're doing and give them a call and make a reservation ASAP. I can assure you won't be disappointed!! Bon appetit!

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of downtown Reno with the views of the casinos and the new J Festival Event Grounds, this golden gem sits. Hitting Yelp's top 100 and we see why! Reservations are preferred, but only because the restaurant space is quite small, but the patio is open during nice evenings for walk-ins! Let's get to the food: my husband ordered the Mongolian Beef and I opted for the Szechuan Beef. Both were astounding and surpassed our expectations. The spice was beautifully executed and the associated vegetables were fresh, crisp, and it took on the flavors of the seasoning and sauces. We definitely will be ordering again, and we can't wait to try out the other fares too! Service was top notch and attentive to us, and they were always prompt with checking in and delivering our food. Very conversational and nice service, which adds to the charm! If you're in the hankering for some delicious Chinese food, please make the trip down to the heart of downtown to Kwoks!

Yelp
The fact that we came here for a pre fixe Chinese new year menu pretty much shows how amazing kwoks is. Loved everything on the menu! Cod was flaky and moist. Green tea creme brulée was amazing! Not too sweet and just the right amount of "crack" It was very busy when we went, but not chaotic. Everyone was very attentive. Setting was very relaxed and restaurant was decorated ever so slightly for the new year.

Yelp
Was looking for a decent spot to grab some hot and sour soup and salt and pepper tofu to take to the room on a cold Reno day. Called and a man who was polite and clear took my order with the total and expected wait. The inside of the bistro is intimate, clean and decorated in a modern fashion. There is a patio area for dining when it's not 29 degrees ;). Food was ready a minute after arrival and paying. I love that they asked if utensils were needed. Everything was packaged beautifully and they let us know that they left the lid off the tofu so it would not get soggy. Their hours are 4-8pm with reservations required for dine in. Our food was amazing. My husband and I already have plans to do a sit down reservation next time we come out here. If you are visiting or a local I have no doubt you will enjoy this place!

Yelp
We went on a Saturday evening after hearing recommendation from a friend. This restaurant is kinda unique for an Asian restaurant in Reno, as it is reservation only via phone call. Part of the reason is that the restaurant is surprisingly small. It is not a fine dining establishment. You order your food like any other Asian restaurants. The pricing is indeed higher than the city norm but not absurd. We ordered a number of items. 1/4 Roasted duck over rice. 3.5/5. Roasted duck is a hard find in Reno. It was good but nothing special. Was not served with the typical dipping sauce Pork Porridge with century egg. 5/5. We loved this one. Make sure to put generous amount of optional white pepper and green onion into it. It was really good. Singapore noodles. 4/5. Good House fried rice. 4.5/5. Quite good! Simple dish but done well Five Spice Pork. 4/5. I actually really liked it while my wife wasnt a fan. My only criticism was how small the amount of pork there was for the paid pricing. All in all, we enjoyed the experience. The service was prompt and responsive. However we are not likely to revisit in foreseeable future. Yes, it is more expensive than its competitors but Kwok does serve some harder to find dishes. The main problem for us is that it is not easily accessible. It requires reservation for a otherwise quite ordinary Asian dining experience. Its location also means parking is quite inconvenient.

Yelp
This place is a must try! Good flavors and great staff. We took it to go but the place is packed and wouldn't mind sitting in next time. The only draw back is that they are pricier than the average Chinese restaurant around town. Maybe since they are situated in downtown Reno? But every dish is a bit higher down to the soups so expect to pay premium but you get the quality with it so i guess it's ok to splurge especially if you're from out of town and you crave some good Chinese food. We got the clay pot eggplant, beef chow fun (dry style), potstickers and salt and pepper chicken wings. All of them are tasty and worth trying! Overall it's a Gem in Reno! :)

Yelp
make sure to make a reservation! they literally have 9 tables so make sure to have one! we tried going on a sunday but they had no more reservations, we ended up calling on tuesday right when they opened to see if they had any openings. surely enough we got a reservation for 2 at 7pm! the staff is very friendly and fun to talk to! it really feels like you are dining with family with how friendly the staff is. so glad we found this place because i never expected reno to have such a good chinese restaurant. pork belly sliders: 5/5 this is FIRE, the crispy bun and the juicy marinated pork belly paired greatly with the pickled vegetables. definitely a must try! it was so good we ordered it twice! mongolian beef: 4/5 very flavorful and yummy, just too many onions for me personally. next time i come, i would swap out this dish to try something else sichuan eggplant clay pot: 5/5 YUMMMY, not spicy to be honest, very flavorful, there was lots of eggplant in the dish despite the small dish it came in, the eggplant was soft and yummy honey walnut shrimp: 5/5 also one of my favorite dishes, it's a creamy mayo sweet sauce over a crispy fried shrimp! it reminds me of when i use to visit the chinese buffets. this is one of my favorite dishes of all time so it was super good for me. I wish it came with candied walnuts! this will definitely be my go to to when i visit reno for my snowboard trips, can't wait to bring my family here.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Kwok's for a while now and finally had the opportunity this weekend. It was definitely worth the hype. This restaurant is notoriously difficult to dine in at because it only has about 10 tables, so you typically will need a reservation. We secured a reservation at 8 PM. The restaurant technically closes at 8 PM but seats its last rotation of guests at this time, so we were some of the final people to dine in for the night. We had the five spice pork, the honey glazed prawns, the house fried rice, and the soy sauce chow mein. It was plenty of food for two and we had leftovers. Everything was outstanding. The chow mein noodles were crispy and delicious and the prawns were large and juicy. I'm not usually a big pork eater but I would get the five spiced pork again, it was that good. I wish we would have ordered some dumplings as well but I'll just have to get those the next time around. Excellent food and I look forward to eating here again.

Yelp
Best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to, hands down. Every time I visit, I have never been disappointed. A must order item is the fried rice. It's moist, it's flavorful, it's the best fried rice I've ever had. I also order the wings, kwok's shrimp, and spinach and garlic to offset all the meat. Each dish is amazing. The staff are very welcoming and recognize many of their customers. Inside, it feels like such a close-knit environment not found in many restaurants. Store hours are limited, and so are the seating options, so be prepared to wait or make a reservation.
google avatar

Yelp
I would skip the review as Kwoks really doesn't need another 5 stars, but 1/ they deserve it (superior foods!) and 2/ I've reviewed every place I've eaten in Reno. So. 5 stars. Bravo !

Yelp
Dude yes so much yes. Amazing food. What a great dining experience. Everything was excellent and tasty. Really enjoyed finally getting a chance to dine here.

Yelp
We love kwoks!!! Our server was super helpful in how we wanted to order and what was best. We got a lot of dishes but our favorite was the ginger scallion noodle with duck. Appetizers were a hit too!

Susan S.

Yelp
Clean and pride of family ownership here. If you like Asian duck dishes, this is the right place! Order the pot stickers for the largest and best ever! Order is 3 pieces and there is enough for 6 people to enjoy! Everything is delicious! Service is spot on and friendly. Small space so reservations suggested not to wait or be disappointed if not able to seat you. Lots of choices for food and beverage. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Kwok's never disappoints, clearly a Reno gem. The food easily rivals that of SF and beyond, the staff is extremely friendly, and everything is always fresh and prepared with upmost care.

Yelp
I have been coming here for a few years but I made the mistake of not coming for about a year now. I forgot how amazing the food is. Every single bite was so damn delicious. The service was also top tier, they were friendly and gave good recommendations for food all while being polite and accommodating. It's a small restaurant but quite a nice ambience, it feels like you get your own personal chefs. Seriously the food is fantastic and the attention to detail is impressive.

Yelp
Kwoks is a tiny little spot in downtown Reno. We went on a saturday night with multiple events going on downtown and parking was very difficult. Very friendly staff, the restaurant was very loud mostly because it's so small. Food was good but didn't knock my socks off. Prices were a little on the high side and portions were small compared to most chinese restaurants, we had no leftovers as i ate all of my mongolian beef and half of my wife's chicken dish. I order mongolian beef at every chinese restaurant, every time! The Mongolian beef flavor was excellent , perfect savory and spicy sauce. However the slices of beef were way too big (2"-3" long and wide)and much more than a mouthful so eating with chopsticks was not possible. I tried to bite through the beef but it was too chewy and had to cut it with my pocket knife. I'm not a fan of chewy mongolian beef but i will say it was delicious as far as flavor but cutting the meat into smaller pieces and cooking a little longer = melt in your mouth tender beef, that's my preference. My wife's chicken and vegetables dish was very tasty with a light savory sauce. Again strangely large pieces of meat some 3"x3" but luckily the chicken was melt in your mouth tender so it was easy to break it down, vegetables were ok large chunks of celery, onion, green pepper and bok choy. I'd prefer smaller chunks especially since they were barely cooked. I thought both dishes were very tasty but room for improvement. Chewy beef in huge pieces for 23$ and small portions left me a little disappointed, especially having heard how great the food was here. Parking was not ideal and not a huge fan of loud restaurants. It's a long way to drive from Spanish Springs , don't think i'd go out of my way to eat here again , especially since it's reservation only.... just didn't hit the mark for me across the board.Im bummed i didn't have the 5 star experience that most people seem to have here but i didn't see or feel it. I think people are inclined to want to fall in love with the cute little hole in the wall place which it is .... sort of , but it had no atmosphere to speak of, just 20 people jammed into a tiny restaurant. We sat by the door and it didn't feel particularly special, i remember turning around and noticing the outdoor seating and wishing the weather had alllowed us to sit outside and escape the noise.

Jen ..

Yelp
Meh. Food was inconsistent. Egg rolls were great. Shrimp was rubbery and still had legs and shell attached. Kung pao chicken was spicy and nice. Pepper beef, good meat not spicy Expensive, some shrimp had to be tossed it was so tough.
google avatar

Cheryl V.

Yelp
Amazing food! Soooo fresh. The atmosphere leaves a bit... But the staff makes up for it. And the wine list is quite good.
google avatar

Yelp
Adding photos from our last visit Hot and Sour soup - the best! Even with the 100 degree heat this week in Reno Chicken Chow Fun - perfect Chicken - not dry! Beef and Broccoli - so tender

Yelp
We visited Kwok's Bistro for the first time last night, and we'll be back!! We enjoyed the incredible Chinese New Year banquet with friends who are regulars. From the warm embrace they received on entering, attentive service throughout, cozy atmosphere and every delicious dish, it was fabulous.
google avatar

Donna B.

Yelp
Kwok's never disappoints. I highly recommend reservations for their specialty celebrations- like Chinese New Year and the Moon Festival. Seven small plate courses created to celebrate these special events. Then there's the regular menu. Delicious. Traditional appetizers- pot stickers, pork belly sliders, roasted duck, 5 spice chicken wings and more. I have several time made a meal of just appetizers. You can't go wrong with seasonal fish collar, moist and flaky. I don't see lamb very often in Chinese restaurants, but Szechwan lamb and black pepper lamb are worth the order. After a trip to Southeast Asia, noodles are my new favorite. Chow fun and Singapore noodles are at the top. The space is small. Reservations are requested for any dining in. In Nevada's fabulous summer weather Kwok's offers a very nice patio. Take out orders are also available. There's a small lot behind the restaurant and some street parking. Staff is always friendly.
google avatar

Valerie N.

Yelp
This place is a MUST when you are in town. If you can't get a reservation, still order for pick up -it's that good! If you are able to get a table, the service really is top notch. They are attentive and so sweet. My husband and I had the crab ragoons, 5 spice wings and the Szechuan Lamb dish. Every item was a 10/10 but let me tell you that lamb was so tender, I will be dreaming of it back home haha. But really, I can't wait to be back in town so we can come again!

Yelp
Wow! Not only our favorite Chinese restaurant, but in our top 5 restaurants EVER. We have been very disappointed in the Chinese restaurants in Reno. Until Kwok's! This food is far superior to any other place in the Reno area! Our go to is : pork, fried rice, Kung, pow, chicken, orange, chicken, sweet-and-sour pork, and chicken chowmein. In addition to that we ordered their beef broccoli which is excellently prepared and damned delicious! Everything from their rice to quality of meat in their pork and chicken dishes- absolutely above any of the local Chinese fare. Now heads up, the place is SMALL. So make a reservation. We get take out mostly anyway
google avatar

Carolina D.

Yelp
Was lucky enough to score reservations for the Chinese New Year Dinner. Food and service is always incredible at Kwok's however these special dinners are next level. Highly recommend stopping in here for any meal but if you a foodie looking to experience a wonderfully crafted meal definitely check out these dinners that happen twice a year. Kwoks is a James Beard Semifinalist, speaks to their dedication and craft!

Yelp
Egg Rolls with house made sweet and sour absolutely fulfilled the craving of finding something better than Egg Roll King's. My daughter ate her full entree of Chicken and Broccoli and the House fried Rice was pretty remarkable actually. The 4 proteins went really well together. Yum! Wish this was more affordable to re visit for takeout, and we will, but, I wish I could order from here more- highly recommend!!

Yelp
I'm ashamed that I've never rated Kwok, which is a gem we're lucky to have here in town. The food has been excellent and consistent since the restaurant opened, and the staff is wonderfully friendly. Although part of me wishes their place was a little bigger, I like the coziness of this box-like place. My favorite dishes: Won Ton Soup, which has beautifully wrapped and seasoned dumplings--the soup is clear, which speaks to a careful clarification process. Salt and Pepper Tofu, which is crisp on the outside, soft inside, and seasoned perfectly. Kwok's Chicken, which has an almost-velvety texture. XO Shrimp, which has just the right amount of spice, and the shrimp is never mealy. Chow Mein, which has noodles that are big step above the usual mushy and greasy mess that you get at other places. If you're visiting, be sure to call ahead and get a reservation. They're small, yes, but they're also very popular, and for a good reason.

Yelp
BEST CHINESE IN RENO!! Hands down! The quality of the food is absolutely incredible! The flavors are rich and complex. It's usually the owners working or one guy that's been there a long time. Very small restaurant, but their patio is wonderful in the summer. 10/10

Yelp
Kwok's is the best place to have dinner with friends! The food is always incredible. We tried different dishes tonight in addition to ordering our usual favorites. We ordered the salt and pepper tofu, the potstickers, and the veggie eggroll for appetizers. For our main dishes that we shared family-style, we ordered the hot and sour soup, house fried rice, beef and broccoli, stuffed eggplant, shrimp special with asparagus and mushrooms, and the amazing honey-glazed prawns. And we also ordered an extra plate of steamed broccoli because we wanted more of their tasty broccoli that was part of the beef and broccoli dish. Every plate was completely enjoyed and devoured. The flavors of each entree are so delicious. Chef Kwok and his kitchen staff are masters in the kitchen. Danny and Winnie are incredible hosts and are our dear friends because of all the years we've been going there. They attend to all the diners and make everyone feel welcomed. We love being there so much. Congratulations on being on Food and Wine: 2024 Yelp's Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in the country! A distinguished honor and so well deserved! Special hint---reservations are required. Call in advance.

The employees are some of the sweetest people! They obviously care about their craft. The food was delicious and plated so beautifully. We made a reservation for date night and it was the perfect intimate setting for dinner. We will be back!

Yelp
This spot has been one of my favorite places in town to get superb Chinese. The owners are truly amazing and the food is phenomenal. What an absolute privilege to have such a nationally recognized space in Reno. Thank you!

Yelp
Will be back again and again! This is a tiny place, and they only seat by reservation. We had a party of three with a 5:00 reservation. They had another reservation at our table at 7:30, but we had plenty of time. Our servers let us taste all of the sake and red wine options before we made our selections, and frequently came back to refill our glasses. The establishment is pretty casual, but it somehow still feels like fine dining because of the service. We had the calamari as an appetizer. The serving wasn't huge, but it had great flavor and texture. The wonton soup was the perfect ratio of broth to wonton, and the Large bowl was a generous portion of four full servings. We had the XO Shrimp, Black Pepper Pork, General Tso's Chicken, and House Combo Fried Rice. Every dish was superb! Great combinations of savory and sweet, nothing over-cooked, and nice portions of meat in the fried rice. People were coming in and out with take-out orders the entire time we were there. Absolutely worth the hype!

Yelp
Danny and Winny give exceptional service. So quant! BEST CHINESE FOOD! Comparable with any New York or San Francisco Chinatown! Don't ask, just order! Seasonal, asparagus, potstickers, crab fried rice, Kwok's shrimp, and the eggplant with pork is divine!

Yelp
I got the Mongolian beef and rice from this restaurant and although it was above average it definitely wasn't worth the price this restaurant is extremely expensive and even though it's not a terrible restaurant the price for the amount of food you get or the quality of it just isn't worth it I would rate the food a 6 out of 10 better than average but not amazing

Yelp
Took way too long to finally eat here. We shared the chicken wings which reminded me of the wings from San Tung in San Francisco yum; the duck with rice noodles; clay pot egg plant; and the pot stickers. All dishes are worth writing home about, but the potstickers were the star of the show. Huge and meaty with a thin wrapper and a delectable dipping sauce. A new favorite spot.

Yelp
I have had many people recommend trying this place to switch up our normal Asian cuisine spot. My husband and I finally decided to try this place for take out. They were right on time which was nice so the food was pretty fresh even to go. It's located in the downtown area and not far from where I live too which is nice. It is not in the best spot and there's a few parking spaces on the street. They also have some outdoor seating which is not the best but at least they have the option which is nice We ordered broccoli beef, chicken chow fun and pork fried rice. They were all very good!!! The broccoli beef had a great flavor and both the beef and broccoli were perfectly cooked. The pork fried and the chicken chow fun both also a lot of good flavor! The food is great and the owners are super nice. My only downfall would the price compared to the semi smaller portions given. I also love cashew chicken and king pao tofu and they unfortunately do not have these. I have another favorite spot that I go to so maybe I'll switch between the this place and the other.

Yelp
This place is amazing! BE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION AT LEAST 1 DAY IN ADVANCE! Don't ignore the daily specials. The chef is amazing and the daily offerings provide the freshest available items. The whole menu has so many delicious dishes that you can't go wrong! Order a lot so that you can have leftovers for later! The servers are friendly and getting to know them will only make your experience better! Ask them about their favorite menu selections and take advantage of their advice! Becoming a regular will be an opportunity that you cannot ignore!

Yelp
If you have money to burn, choose this place. $19.49 Wonton Soup to-go... $18.00 plus $1.49 tax. Generous number of Wontons that did not taste quite right. Chintzy amount of Broth that did not taste great. Not worth it, I've had much better Wonton Soup numerous times for less money. Water Chestnuts? What Water Chestnuts? None. Based on the Reviews I read and their Gourmet Pricing I expected stellar. $20 for a bowl of soup from a low-rent location is a definite S T R E A C H... But if Great, than- yes, worth the money. Not in this case. I gave it a try and I'm sorry, money-wise, that I did. The China Diner which occupied that location some 25 years ago, which I ate at weekly, was a MUCH better value with quality food- so sorry they are long gone. Thanks to Kwok's, I've lost my taste for Wonton Soup for now. I was going to try their Potstickers the next time, but not now because they would probably taste much like the Wontons. $15 for three Potstickers??? Regardless of the relatively strong Reviews this establish has, I doubt they will remain in business for long with their San Francisco High-Rent location prices. Folks, this is Reno and their location is third tier rent-wise with scarce parking. Open four hours a day, six days a week-- no wonder their prices are so high - to make ends meet while not working hard. If you have money to burn, choose this place. April 8th Review adjunct - four days later no response from Kwok's Bistro. I have the soup, I won't feed it to my dog. Do you want me to return it?

Yelp
We had to try Kwok's takeout based on the reviews while we were in Reno. The food was okay but not great. The chicken with vegetables was a bit too sweet, the egg rolls were crispy outside but mushy inside, and the fried rice left a puddle of oil on the plate. Those three dishes were upwards of $60 and while certainly edible, they were sadly not worth the hype or the price.

Yelp
Update: reservations REQUIRED. it's a tiny restaurant and if you show up without a reservation, you just won't get in. Also beware: Entrees do not come with rice. If you order fried rice, they will charge you for a whole entrée of fried rice (~$17).

Yelp
Don't tell anyone. I was lucky enough to score a reservation on a Wed night. Ate some dumplings that were AMAZING, Beef Chow Fun, Kung Pao Chicken, and a surprisingly good sweet and sour shrimp dish (forgot what it was called). (I was not with adventurous eaters). We gobbled it down before I even thought to take a picture. I honestly am hesitant to write this review as it'll only become more crowded. Go here. Thru will turn you away if you don't have a reservation. So get one. ASAP! Don't miss out! A good value as well.
