We loved the informal setting. The staff was very attentive, professional and kind. Nothing went unnoticed and we received great recommendations. The fish was so fresh and of high quality that it spoke for itself, they keep it simple - nothing extra is needed! We discovered new sherry wine as well, we will definitely buy a bottle of Palo Cortado later ;)

The food was good overall, but price was a little prohibiting. Not the best value like some other reviews said. - Seaweed croquettes, not as flavorful as expected 🫤 - Marinaded Sardines, very good 👍 - White gambas, good 👍 - Langoustine, good, but 2 pieces costed almost 60 euros!! 💶 (We didn’t know until seeing the bill because the server arranged our courses with a lot of conviction😂) - Crab, very good 👍👍 - Grilled fish 👍👍👍 - Fried fish, dry, bland, no dressing or dipping. 🫤🫤

Small tapas and very fresh seafood options. A bit more expensive than it actually could be (my thought) but still a nice place for dinner. We sat in salon and it was much quieter there than in the bare area. The service was very good! They don’t speak English very well, but nevertheless they are doing their best to make your stay comfortable. Btw Orange desert was perfect.. no more words needed.

You know that moment when you walk into an oceanarium, and the salty, fishy scent instantly sparks your curiosity? That’s exactly how La Barra de Cañabota felt. The food was absolutely outstanding, and the service equally impressive. I should note, though, that this isn’t a restaurant for everyone, you truly need to be a fish and seafood lover. There are no traditional side dishes, and they focus primarily on the freshest produce of the day. For a full tasting experience with wine, expect to spend around €80. A big thank-you to the chef and the entire team for an unforgettable experience!

I’ve added this to my list of restaurants to return to. Food was excellent as was service. Very attentive. Oysters and razor clams were delicious. The wine recommendation was also spot on. I’d highly recommend.

The food was generally good, but definitely not worth the price. The ensaladilla was tasty but served too cold and priced at nearly double the city average. The anchovy and marinated sardine were both very good, and the sea urchin was fresh, but poorly prepared as the amount of sand was unpleasant What felt most unreasonable was being charged 100€/kg for a simple fried squid. For 65€, you can enjoy a five-course experience at a decent Michelin-starred restaurant, or cover excellent meals for two people in Seville

Top quality fishes and seafood, for a reasonable price. Grilled red snapper is definitely a must, when available. Desserts are also pretty mind-blowing, especially cumin chocolate.

My friend and I had a great time dining at this mysterious Michelin Stared seafood restaurant in Seville. Their menu changes a little based on the catch of the day. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by these giant real fish heads on display to the right along side the kitchen counters. It was a bit intimidating at first but the more I looked at it, it became a quirky decoration that added to the charm of this restaurant. There are three options you can specify when you make reservations at the restaurant: al la carte, tasting menu, or omakase. We originally specified the tasting menu but got convinced to do the omakase after we got seated at the restaurant. This might be the only omakase I'll ever partake in my life as I'm not a fan of raw seafood. However, they were kind enough to allow diners to provide preference and they will cater their menu based on the details. I told them I don't eat raw seafood and they kindly agreed on a no raw omakase for me but for my friend (who loves raw food) will be served the raw option when applicable. We saw many people actually opted for the a la carte option as menus were provided. We were not provided anything when we walked in since we picked the omakase so we had zero clue what we are being served. The courses just kept coming out and we were so stuffed at the end of the experience. The creativity and the freshness of the dishes were admirable. I also loved how they operated in an open kitchen format where we can be seated facing the chefs, directly observing at them cooking and plating the food. Overall it was such a wonderful experience with friendly staff and playful ambiance. The staffs were kind enough to explain each dishes in English as well even if it wasn't the language they were most comfortable with. I highly recommend everyone to book a visit here when visiting Seville!

The samurai sought perfection. Perfection in everything in life. That's what Cañabota felt like. Their service was more like performance art, with every step efficient, every dish a presentation. The waitstaff actually looked proud to place this in front of you. The restaurant itself was very clean and (unsurprisingly) efficient. They did, however like to point out their Michelin star having just acquired it) I completely do not blame them. That is a victory lap not many have the honor of taking. The meal: see pictures and descriptions ask we and the omekaze and were absolutely delighted. The staff was awesome...next time in Seville we will be back...heck, we may come back to Seville just to have seconds!

Food: 4.5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 4 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Return worthiness: sure Highlights: - Omakase menu: many courses for just a bit more than the standard tasting menu. - Shrimp: 3 different types and sizes expertly grilled. 5 stars - Starters: set of 4 were impressive to get us going - Cuttlefish tartare with caviar;: light and fresh and unique. 4.5 stars - Olive oil: bright green and lovely 4.5 stars - Lobster: 2 courses and enjoyed them both. Such tender pieces. One with cauliflower and another with a richer sauce. 4.5 stars - Crab soup: shredded crab meat with a darker yet lighter than bisque soup poured tableside. 4.25 stars - Tuna croquette ball: delightful lightly fried. 4.25 stars - Fish in soy like sauce: enjoyed the bright crisp green peas. 4.25 stars - Snapper: long well-cooked piece of fish. 4 stars - Turbot with thin sweet cracker: had an unagi like flavor. 4 stars - Glass of champagne: had Gobillard which is one of my faves and feet delicious. - Dining room: very bright white and the length of the kitchen with high tables featuring fresh seafood in the windows. - Service: lovely staff explaining the dishes, brought a Michelin cake to take pictures with (not edible) for my friend's birthday, and when we were a bit over time invited us to finish with a bottle of sparkling wine outside. Midlights: - Could have been a few less courses as our party was getting full towards the end - Oyster with spinach sauce: just ok compared to the rest. 3 stars - Fried fish piece: but too sinewy between raw and cooked hard to cut through. 3 stars Lowlights: - Dessert courses weren't great. I didn't care for the oyster foam and vinegary soup. Enjoyed this refined meal and would recommend it for seafood fans but might want to try the tasting menu.

Review for "La Barra": La Barra de Canabota is the more casual sister restaurant to the fancier, one Michelin star Canabota next door. This specific restaurant is known for offering the same excellent seafood in a more casual, wallet friendly setting, and I thus booked it for lunch during a visit to Seville. Our meal unfortunately got off on the wrong foot, as we actually tried to do a telephone reservation the evening before which fell through the cracks due to miscommunication from the staff. We were able to secure a lunch reservation for the following day, but that left a somewhat sour taste in our mouth. The seafood tapas we enjoyed the next day, however, cured that bitterness. The quality of the product here is very fresh and the kitchen does a great job with cooking the seafood. Some of the more memorable bites we sampled included a flavorful seafood cream with raw white shrimp, earthy and rich sea cucumber and spinach croquettes, sardines on puff pastry, and crispy whole fried mullet. Additionally, the bread service was excellent with crusty, flavorful slices continually served to us throughout our meal. Despite our service woes on the reservation side, our servers during our meal were attentive and helpful. The ambiance here is quite clean and airy with sleek white and blue touches punctuating the dining room. Prices are a little higher than expected, and subsequently this isn't the most wallet friendly place despite it being cheaper than the flagship. Overall, we had great seafood tapas here but felt a slight lack of value. That earns La Barra de Canabota 4 stars, and still remains a worthy stop for a light seafood meal.

This place is a complete tourist trap with subpar and low quality seafood and they charge 4X more than any other restaurant in Seville and 6X anywhere else in Spain. This place was more expensive than NYC restaurants with low quality shrimp and lobster. They are running a scheme on tourists and foreigners who are looking for fresh seafood and are coming from high paying countries. They know you won't be back and just completely take you for a ride. Avoid at all costs. Whoever wrote a good review is just silly for falling for the scheme and I'm ashamed for having eaten there.

We visited Seville just before the busy season and got lucky to find an available table at this Michelin starred gem. I have nothing but superlatives to share. Every member of the staff, from our waiter, who I watched debone a grouper with a tweezers, to the other six chefs worked with the unhurried precision of a Swiss watchmaker. Each dish was highly creative and uniquely amazing.

We came for the tasting menu and it did not disappoint (note that those who prefer can simply choose which seafood they would like from a generous list, as well as how they would like it prepared). Canabota provided some of the best service we received across Spain, from the level of warmth to the description of the dishes, to the precision of preparing the food. I did not love every dish, as there are some Spanish flavor profiles we found at many restaurants that just aren't for me. That said, I loved many of them, and even the ones I didn't, I could tell were cooked very well - these chefs know their craft. The ambiance felt hip and modern, with what I might call "casual elegance". Great experience and also my favorite glass of Cava from our trip!

The food and wine were phenomenal! They deserve every Michelin star that they've received. The staff was very attentive, polite, and accommodating as our friend had a last minute emergency which resulted in us arriving about half an hour late to our reservation. Worth a try while you're in Seville.

Probably my best meal in Spain tho I wouldn't categorize this food as "Spanish." Just seafood and really good seafood at that. We (my fiancé and I) got: - 3 glasses of white wine - appetizers: they bring this out to you and each one is soooo good. It's 3 small bites. Yummm. - 1 cod liver salad (shared) - delicious. I was skeptical but the hazelnuts and mushroom make this soooo dang good. - 2 cold soups: surprisingly really good and recommended by them. - 2 asparagus dishes w dogfish (shark): this was also good but i think we both agreed we could've done without this. Lol. - 2 razor clams and 6 cockle: the cockle was good but razor clams were skippable... just personal opinion. - 1 whole fish (local fish): we basically got shown the fish and saw which one was gonna be ours. Hahah. Like picking your fish. this was prepared during the entire part of our meal and perfectly cooked! Plus they de-bone it for you so you don't have to go through that hassle. - it ended up being 106 euros, which isn't toooo bad considering it's a higher end restaurant. We were reallllly pleased w this place. Make a reservation tho. We made one and we're glad we didn't have to wait outside. Plus it's fun sitting at the bar and watching them make everything for you.

There is a second Cañabota 5 m on its right, the sea food tapas are more than excellent. Leisured one, but exquis. I tried a lot little dishes the last days, all was fresh and delicious. I was with my 6 years' daughter, even her, ate 10 vapeur cooked white shrimps. A small trésor in Seville

What a disappointing evening. It had potential to be so good as the seafood is so fresh and quality of ingredients so good. But the gross neglect in service - empty glasses, finished plates piling high on the table and three forgotten dishes along with the set time limit made my visit tremendously unpleasurable. One of the forgotten dishes was my son's beef tenderloin and as it was so late when they finally cooked it, it came out barely rare but requested as medium. Also, I tried very hard to fend off the three euro bread but was told I would need it. I certainly should have followed my instinct as it was not needed or eaten. I wish I could recommend this restaurant but I think they need to improve their service before I can recommend spending your time and money here. They did in the end deduct the charge of two forgotten dishes from the bill. Brought them from a two star to three star.

Whoa the hiatus on Yelp... but this restaurant has been completely worth it!! Let me tell you why! Michelin 3 star service, especially at the "chefs counter" for Michelin 1 star prices. Plus, they have a window full of fresh, local seafood that does get used up by the end of the night. You can only imagine the sentiments of our dinner when we never really had to ask for anything to be refilled, nor napkins to wash our hands/fingers after picking at fish bones or peeling shrimp. Don't get it twisted, this place is not a seafood shack, it's a finer dining gastronomic experience in Sevilla. Make reservations in advance. If you don't speak Spanish, try asking this when you call in, "Puedo hacer una reserva, por favor?" You will not regret it!!! Another thing for me that resembles a 2 or 3 star Michelin is the execution of the team, which seemed to be lead by Juan Luis (will upload a picture). If you come as a couple, it seemed like you'd be seated at the chef's counter. Bigger groups seemed to be seated at the tables behind it. We didn't just have one waiter as it was run by a team. Throughout our almost 3 hour dinner, we had multiple members pouring our wine and water, getting us hand towels, taking away our plates, replacing our silverware, etc. We are from NYC and have dined at multiple Michelins and this was one of our most memorable experiences for the price! Wow! A fraction of what you'd pay in NYC. We started the salad with cod liver. It sounds nasty, however the cod liver resembled a foie gras with a slight saline and oceanic flavor. The hazelnuts I thought wouldn't really go well with the fresh spinach, raw thinly sliced mushrooms and olive oil but it was great and refreshing. A recommendation to us. We then got a 'mixto de mariscos' which consisted of a 'gamba', cigales, and a tiger prawn. It was a plate of the tiger prawns claws, which tasted sweet. The tiger prawn (large size) has roe inside the head. Use the little spoon to taste a hint of ocean with its roe. The cigale and the gamba resembled lobster taste without American lobster prices. Nom! We then got a fish. All fish is 45 Euros per KG which may sound expensive but it's not since a kg is 2.2 lbs. back at home, it'd run you like $25-40/lb. for a fish at the supermarket of equal quality. More about this fish. The fish is not just filleted and served to you! Be ready for a multiple part presentation. First, it started with a fried underbelly area of the fish (my least favorite). Then, we got it in successively on a plate of 3 parts with one being the pectoral, the dorsal and something else. My favorite was the middle one! We thought we were done but then the rest of the fish was served as charbroiled and topped with a magnificent sauce of quality olive oil, sliced garlic and sun-dried tomatoes. Oh, the garnishment were flame torched shishito peppers topped with kosher or sea salt. Dessert we had the lemon meringue. OMG. Light, crunchy, every texture profile necessary. It's a fluffier, decomposed lemon meringue. Get it! Even their espresso was amazing. No hint of burning. Smooth, bold, rich and creamy. Perfect! Throughout the night we got a bottle of wine which is really affordable (only in the 20s range), extra glasses of wine, espressos, carbonated water and we felt like this was the most amazing meal we've had in Sevilla and even out of all the restaurants we've been to which encompasses a sum of 16 countries so far. So please, if you love seafood, make a reservation in advance since we saw a few people get turned away throughout the night and understandably so! Our meal started at 9pm and ended at almost midnight! Not once did I stop and look at my clock. It felt like it was just an hour in the restaurant and that goes to show the superb service, food and wine we had. Plus, watch my little video of the cool, cinnamon scented hand towels/clothes after picking at shrimp or fish bones. :) Thank you to everyone at Cañabota! It was good, I was expecting more because it has a Michelin star. The oysters were good, but it was very basic food, nothing exceptional unless you are really into oysters or fish. If you go, don't waste time with the small plates, just go straight to the main fish dishes.

Sometime you have a meal, and sometimes you have an experience. Sitting in front of the hot grill and watching the chef and his staff perform their craft was really a treat. The food was A+, the seafood was so fresh and prepared with such delicacy and care that they truly transformed something as simple as a grilled prawn into an experience but also provide the complex flavors that many of us crave as part of their other offerings. I can not picture ever visiting Seville and not eating here.

A new fresh seafood restaurant opened in late 2016. The fish and seafood is displayed in a window case when you arrive at the door so you know it's fresh. This is a small place 30 seats so a reservation is a must for both lunch and dinner. The menu was only in Spanish so the dishes described below are somewhat lacking in the detail. The oyster starter was excellent and the thin sliced raw tuna on their homemade rice crackers is a must. We followed this with a fresh grilled sea bass accompanied by green potatoes. This was all finished with a lemon meringue. The originality of these dishes make you want to sample the complete menu. A great find in old town. We are definitely returning before we leave Seville.
