The 38 Best Restaurants in Omaha, Nebraska

"La Buvette is, in a word, thriving. The restaurant started as a deli counter in the mid-1990s, transitioned into a Parisian-inspired restaurant, and eventually migrated back toward its deli roots. The daily rotating menu of specials focuses on everyday French fare: mussels, roasted chicken, cheese plates, house-made sausage, and well-priced wine. Next door, sister business Mercer and Sons sells sandwiches, meats and cheeses, fresh bread, and bagels. The restaurant’s once-temporary patio has also become permanent and is available year-round." - Sarah Baker Hansen

A beloved Old Market staple, La Buvette combines a European-style wine bar, grocery, and bistro into a delightfully unhurried dining destination. Couples can share a bottle from the extensive, well-priced selection and graze on fresh cheeses, charcuterie, or the daily specials. La Buvette’s unpretentious charm and lively sidewalk seating are often highlighted by local guides like Visit Omaha and critics at the Omaha World-Herald as quintessential for a relaxed, romantic evening.

Popular wine bar. They have a big collection of wines and spirits and you can buy and drink. Small kitchen but a big food menu as well. My friends Picked a bottle Of chilled champagne from the Cooler and I had a single malt. We share multiple appetizers, Humus, Salmon, Caprese Salad bread. Orders the lamb shank which was flake and there were some grilled sandwiches. Several of the main entrees they were out of.

I went to New York last summer and I had the sandwich on focaccia bread that changed my life, I went to Italy the year before and had some sandwiches that changed my life as well. This sandwich is the third time that a sandwich has changed my life. It was a religious experience and I can’t wait to go back. I’m thinking about taking out a second mortgage so that I could have them at my fingertips every moment of my life. If you have not gone here and asked the wonderful woman behind the counter to just make you a masterpiece sandwich using their cured salamis, cheeses, spreads, veggies etc. on their house made focaccia bread… Then you are so lucky to be able to say that you are about to endure the best moment of your life. Wear your pearls and get your hair done because you’ll want to remember this moment for the rest of your life. What a wonderful life we get to live now that we all know where the best sandwich in Omaha is.

I enjoy coming here for the food and the outdoor seating (a huge plus: it’s dog-friendly). We dine here regularly, as the outdoor ambiance almost makes you feel like you’re in Europe. However, the service is consistently terrible, and the food takes painfully long to arrive. It usually takes about 15 minutes just to get water and 45–50 minutes for the food to be served. The waitstaff frequently forgets requests, and they don’t bring bread. It also seems like they are understaffed.

Perfect place to enjoy the weather after the farmers market. We appreciated that the patio was dog friendly and the food choices were unique and flavorful!

If I lived in Omaha, I'd be in danger of visiting too often! I love the ambience. The wine menu is pretty extensive, and reasonably priced. My open faced sandwich was delicious. There are a lot of bottles of wine to explore, with other hard alcohol as well. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Google
I've wanted to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. The dinning area flows out onto the patio for what I assume is just for the warmer parts of the year and the front of the restaurant is very open with much of the front opened up. It would be hard to overstate how good the bread is here. This is the table bread they give out when you order food. There's a few different varieties, all fresh baked, served with good butter. This is not your standard fare as far as free bread goes, this bread is above and beyond the call of its duty. The pumpkin soup I had was too notch, one of the best soups I've had in a while. Then came the beef bourguignon. I'm very fond of the classics and this was a excellent example of the dish. It's important when you go here to get as many things that you can dip bread into as possible because the bread is so good and they will bring you more... to some extent.

For those who know what a Parisian bistro is really like, one can easily close their eyes and be transported back to the 20th or Latin Quarter with this remarkable little bistro and Wine Bar (just with midwestern friendliness). The menu is all hand drawn so bring spectacles; but everything on the menu is as fresh as it can be. Recently, I had phenomenal duck sausages with a parsnip puree that were to die for! Incredible wine selection too. This is easily the most charming restaurant in all of the Old Market so get here early before the line builds up!

Google
I no longer live in Omaha but I always swing by La Buvette when I’m in town. The meat & cheese plate is divine. The wine selection can’t be beat and the vibes overall are immaculate. I always stop by the deli next door to grab some items to take on the plane back home to make a charcuterie. My favorite place in the city.

Yelp
Terrific food! Even greater wine selection! Service was a hair slower than I would have liked it, but knowing the nature of the shop/restaurant/bar, it was alright. The space is very well situated and designed and decorated! It felt like I was in another world, somewhere on the French countryside! :)

Yelp
It's long overdue for me to leave a glowing review for La Buvette as it is my favorite restaurant in Omaha. From the ambiance to the food to the service, i've never had a bad time here and I don't think I ever will! Whenever my best friend comes to town, it is a must that we have dinner here (followed by drinks at Mr. Toads of course). The interior ambiance is so romantic with dim lighting in the evenings and not too loud of music which is great. The patio is awesome for warmer days and they even have heaters for cooler days! This place really makes you feel like you aren't in Omaha (i'm saying that in a positive tone!) The food is always to die for. I always get some kind of cheese platter which are good but could use more variety or upgraded cheeses but the bread and butter that come with it are one of kind (especially the olive bread which I always buy next door it's that good). All the specials are typically good but my favorite dish was the Escargot back in December (they have yet to have it again and everytime I go I hold my breath hoping I happen to go when it's a special again). But you really can't go wrong with anything seeing that I have a lot of pictures of many different amazing dishes. The soup is always a win too! And you can't NOT get a bottle of wine to split when you go and the staff is always great with helping pick out a good bottle in our price range and taste. I've never had a bad server. They are always super down to earth and just the right of attentive for me. This is not a place to come with large groups so reserve your visit for one on ones or up to four people. Six is pushing it since most seating is two to four per table. And the bathrooms are down some stairs located in the basement for those considering accessibility. You also may find yourself having to wait outside for a table on busy days. Other than that, this is literally my favorite place in Omaha. If you love to romanticize your life, this is your kind of place.

Yelp
Tldr: wait is long but worth it. Food is good. La buvette is one of those restaurant that you go to if you have a lot of free time or if you really like to talk to whoever you're with, because be prepared to wait 45-60 minutes for your food during dinner time due to the size of their kitchen and everything being made to order. But the wait will be worth it because their food is amazing! I go at least once every 2-3 weeks. The duck confit wasn't as tender as i expected it to be, but the sauce that it was paired with was a burst of flavor that made up forever the chewiness of the duck. The salmon was cooked just right, paired with a savory, creamy sauce. The soup was a nice appetizer to start with! The ratatouille was packed with vegetables and was what i imagined it would taste like. Bread was complementary and was a nice addition to my meal while i waited for the main entrees.

Yelp
I've live in Omaha almost all my life and I'm ashamed that this was my first time. We finally had a Saturday night off so my husband and I decided to treat ourselves. We only waited about 10 minutes to snag a seat on the patio. It only looked like they had 2 servers and they were both so nice and helpful. Our main server was welcoming and offered suggestions. Even being off the main strip of downtown, restaurant so cozy and reminds me of a visit to a grocery/restaurant in Europe. We started with a bottle of wine from the store. They had a huge selection and the prices were reasonable and less than $5 corkage fee. For food, we started with the burrata caprese, and of course, the bread and butter that comes with the table. The pesto that came on the caprese was incredible, just slightly nutty but so smooth. The bread was perfectly crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. If I could get away with eating the butter straight, I would... I ordered the short rib and it came with horseradish potatoes verts. The short rib was slightly crusty on the outside and just fell apart when you cut into it. The potatoes were fluffy, not too strong with horseradish but enough to give it a nice flavor. I couldn't get enough of this dish! My husband got the duck leg confit. It also just fell off the bone, and it was very rich and delicious. The real star of the dish was the creamy, savorycabbage side. Growing up polish, I've had my share of cabbage but this was on a new level. All in all, this will not be our last visit!

Yelp
Could be very easily missed when walking around the old market but Omaha locals know that this is a gem & staple! Feels like Europe - you can choose a bottle of wine off the walls/back fridge or order by glass off the menu. They have many small plates - my favorite is the hummus and smoked salmon board. All tastes very fresh and the wine is divine! Service isn't the most friendly always but not a big deal. Favorite place to bring my out of town friends when they visit. Great date spot or girls night spot!

Yelp
First time here and we had a great time. We opted to sit inside, but there is an outside seating option as well. Lined the wall you will see wine everywhere. The wood was solid, and one of the highlights for us was actually the bread - unsure if they make it or buy it, but it was delicious. I also loved my beef bourguignon and would recommend that if it's on the menu. Other's rave about the hummus and I thought it was good, but don't think it was anything extraordinary.
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
Best restaurant in town. The bread and butter - this is what dreams are made of. Get the olive plate too, or the cheese. If you are concerned that this is an "expensive" place to go, try the open faced sandwich, it comes with a salad, it is about the same price as a meal of fast food. Note: this is not fast food. It takes a while, and that is fine, just go with a good friend. Also note: if you do want to spend a lot of money on a meal, you can do that here as well! But you don't have to spend a lot to have a great meal here. The food is amazing.

Yelp
My second time visiting this quaint but popular location. The service is average by the food is delightful! We got the Quail and Lam Meat Balls. Delicious!
google avatar

Danny L.

Yelp
I went to La Buvette and tried their daily menu special: Beef tongue with puréed parsnips. It was hard to choose from the interesting and delicious-sounding dishes they had to offer, but I'm very happy with my pick! The tongue was tender, flavorful, and paired very well with the parsnips. The interior of La Buvette gives off a very cozy vibe and I enjoyed hanging out while looking out the window. I'm looking forward to my next visit and seeing what's new on the menu!

Yelp
This place is small but mighty. It has a nice patio as well to sit downtown for some wine and a bite to eat. The pasta was good and the wine was even better. They have a wide selection to choose from so you're bound to find one you like. It would be the cutest place for a date or wine and dinner with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the vibe of this place!! Always a must stop a few times a year! The meat and cheese plate goes so well with a bottle of wine and the people watching is just a bonus!!
google avatar

Yelp
La Buvette is always one of my stops when I'm visiting Omaha. Everything is always seasoned perfectly, the portions are just right and the wine selection is always yummy. The space is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a casual meal or a date night and the staff are always knowledgeable and accommodating. I can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
A long standing gem in the Old Market, going into La Buvette is as if you stepped into a bustling bistro in Paris. Seating inside and outside is available but you may have to wait. But, it is worth said wait. A fantastic wine selection is here along with not too heavy food selections that change daily. A few of the items are mainstays including the Hummus plate. This is a solid appetizer and a must have. Service can sometimes be a little slow, but your experience here should not be rushed. Take in the ambience and enjoy!

Yelp
Our favorite spot in Omaha by far. The overall atmosphere of this restaurant gives you a feel of a cozy Paris restaurant with wonderful meals to compliant that vibe. The appetizers on the menu do not change but the entrees are circulating frequently. We love the variety in the meals along with the wonderful wine selection. Food: absolutely wonderful. We love the smoked salmon platter, salads, and mixed meat platter for appetizers. We also love the hummus but it does sell out quickly. As the entrees are not always the same there is a lot of variety but the flank steak, chicken and everything else in between is wonderful. The duck entrees also have never disappointed us. Wine: the house Sauvignon blanc and Pinot noir are our favorites. We also have enjoyed the Bordeaux wine selection and the Pacific Northwest selection. The whole store has a variety that will likely have you finding more than one wine that you will want! The cost is certainly reasonable for the quality of the food and the dining experience. The restaurant can become quite busy around dinner time so be mindful of this- there is outdoor seating, as well. I hope you venture out to enjoy our little slice of French heaven in Omaha.

Yelp
I gave this place a try on the recommendation of a friend. It really looks a lot more like a wine shop/grocery from the outside with a few outdoor tables and a few indoor tables. It's really quite a neat little place on the inside very cozy, which also means it can be a bit loud if it's full. The menu is pretty eclectic but very tasty and well done. I got picked herring of all things and it was delightful and reminded me of being back in Sweden. My companions ordered wine and were quite pleased with the selection. The one drawback was that our server seemed pretty overwhelmed and distracted - and overall things were very slow. Don't expect to get in and out of here quickly. One of the oddities of our evening was that we weren't able to get a decent list/recommendation on the other types of drinks they had and were told the bar was 'limited' but our observation was that there was a pretty large selection of spirits behind the bar. Perhaps our server was both new and overwhelmed. I would definitely try the place again though!

Yelp
I was in Omaha for work and this delightful cafe was just a block away from my hotel. I liked it so much that I ate here every night. Whoever runs this place has the French cafe vibe on lock - Edith Piaf, well worn tables & chairs, a small, well executed menu, delicious wine at great prices and friendly staff. The menu has 2 parts - one is boards & snacks that stay the same. The other is rotating dishes with a confit, a roast, a fish etc. Everything is served with fresh baguette which was very good. I had homemade pate one night (excellent), a roasted pork with a mustard sauce the next and homemade hummus the last night. I enjoyed all of it and highly recommend the hummus which was well seasoned. Let's talk about wine. I like wine. The people here obviously do too with an extensive by the glass list that's mostly French. Want a bottle? They'll charge you retail plus a very minor ($5?) corkage. I was happy with a lovely $5.95/glass rose. The staff is lovely and recognized me on my 2nd visit (probably thinking there's the lady that likes rosé and ate a shit ton of pate). I travel for work a lot, and this is probably my favorite hands down. All the stars.

Yelp
We like dining here, it's a nice ambiance and light food. The chicken liver mousse is our favorite and a must try! The service is slow, we know that coming in so we aren't upset about it and we are patient. Plan accordingly, it probably won't be a quick meal but it's worth the wait. The staff are helpful and friendly. The restaurant is pet friendly on the patio. This restaurant is always crowded and always has a line waiting to be seated.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
La Buvette has been on my list for a while now, and I'm very glad I finally got the chance to go! They have a good wine selection that is very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the orange wine, it was very refreshing and would be perfect for a hot summer day. I also ordered the salad a la Buvette with the goat cheese, which I enjoyed. The interior is so cute with the wine and brick walls, and can feel a bit tight when crowded. The tables are on a first come-first serve basis, so had to wait inside for a table, which there isn't a ton of space for when busy. The service was a bit slow, and it took just under an hour to get our food after being seated, so I don't know if I would come here if I was in a rush. Overall, good food and drinks and a good experience! I will definitely be back to try more of the food and wines on the menu!

Yelp
Amazing! We found this adorable, bistro style restaurant by accident and I'm so glad. The food was phenomenal, great flavors, super menu. We were in town for 4 nights, went twice. The duck was delicious, veal scaloppine amazing, wanted to try the entire menu. One suggestion, they have a different menu each day with sometimes limited quantities. Go early. Can't wait to go back. Probably next BRK meeting. Save me a table!
google avatar

Erik O.

Yelp
Food was great and I enjoyed what I ordered. The service on the other hand was awful. Staff was rude and left me waiting for a very long time for my check.
google avatar

Becca C.

Yelp
I only stopped in for a glass of wine, but I found the entire experience charming. The servers were extremely helpful and friendly, and recommended exactly what I was looking for. It's a small place, but that suits it perfectly. The atmosphere couldn't be better- you feel like you've been transported away. I felt very comfortable here and would love to return.
google avatar

Tope B.

Yelp
Enjoyed my time here with friends! The spot is so cozy, warm, inviting and has a relaxed but upscale ambience. They have a variety of wines in every price range and their food menu changes daily which is fun! All of the dishes I tried were delicious and made with care. The service here does take a little longer than other places but if you are wanting to go with the flow and have a relaxed night out then it's definitely a place to try!
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
You absolutely cannot beat the ambiance of La Buvette. Being here makes you feel like you are no longer in Omaha, but instead in a little French bistro. We sat on the patio, which is gorgeous, and each ordered a glass of wine and the mixed meat and cheese plate. There was plenty of food, and the variety was impressive. This is a great spot for a romantic date or a fun girls get together!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite restaurants! We come here to escape the Midwest and feel like we're in a quaint European cafe. When they have French cafe music playing and conversation by patrons, it really does feel like I'm transported back to a European cafe. We had this lovely rose, which is also available for purchase from their store. They have a great selection of wines! We got the meat and cheese plate, but were bought the cheese plate only. Our waitress was quick to bring us what we were missing, and was helpful in letting us know what we enjoyed from the plate that we could purchase and enjoy at home. Try the escargot! It was perfectly baked and the butter herb sauce was a perfect compliment. Will always go back here!
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Beautiful and chic. I have been here a few times now. I love the seasonal menu, wine, whiskey and beer selection. My friends and I get the mixed meat and cheese plates paired with wines and IPA. The cheeses and meats are high quality and served with fresh breads and butter. I do wish they had larger charcuterie options but this menu selection is great if you're looking for a small fresh bite while you're walking the Old Market area or meeting up with friends. Service is always great. Staff is polite and service seems quick even during busy hours. Seating indoors feels a bit cramped with few large tables but if the weather is nice I recommend sitting outside especially once all the outdoor greenery grows in. The restaurant is in a great location for parking and exploring.

Billi L.

Yelp
A little slice of Europe in the middle of the farm I love the way I feel when I'm here.

Yelp
RUDE! We have been regulars for over 20 years! It has been our favorite restaurant of all time until today! The manager could not have been more rude! Let us know when there is new staff. If we have not found a new favorite to become regulars when management and staff have all been let go we may return other wise we will not be back!

Yelp
I can't even tell you how long I've been going here. I absolutely adore everything about this place. If I owned a business it would emulate this cool spot! I feel transported to Paris every-time I walk in here. Love the fun menu, the interesting wine selection, the eclectic surrounding, and the fun servers. It's busy and sometimes a bit of a wait, but always laid back and no rush once you're seated. Stop by, be transported to the quaint charm of a Paris cafe, and learn the art of gazing soulfully into the eyes of your lover or bestie while sipping on something scintillating and breaking into a crusty baguette slathered in butter.

Richard H.

Yelp
I love this place - the ambiance - the food can be solid (but how much can one really attribute to the Bistro - when there is good cheese and cured meats?!). I actually rate the ambiance as a 4.5 (pretty chill and a good place to read a book); the food is somewhat neutral - so 3.5. What is not up to par at all is the lack of attention by staff. Lots of staff friends being attended to - conversations - free wine, etc., while paying customers (like me) are sitting and waiting to get a glass of wine - the bill, whatever. Very disappointing - the first time I came here was in 2004 - lunch with my wife - great experience and attention from professional servers. Sadly - an overall pedestrian experience - would not go unless you had a sizable book to read.
google avatar

Yelp
What an outstanding experience! Wine by the glass or grab a bottle and enjoy sitting inside or out. Extensive wine selection & fabulous appetizer choices to choose from. The bread served is awesome! We truly enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Note bathrooms are downstairs and it's a bit of a trek.
google avatar

Nora M.

Yelp
On my stop back to Omaha, I had to return here. I love just grabbing a glass of wine and cheese platter to share with friends and catch up. We were seated fast and by friendly service. The place there is always cute and cozy. I love how they added Christmas decorations for the holidays. I recommend for a quiet or romantic night out!

Yelp
La Buvette is an Omaha staple. They have an absolutely amazing wine and alcohol selection. The ambiance is one of a kind and their patio is comfortable the majority of the year. The staple menu has great selections but the star of the show is the menu that changes daily/weekly. Here you will find a rotation of chef classics like beef bourgeon, chicken curry salad, mussels, and homemade burrata. Some comment that the staff is off putting or unhelpful, but if you have spent anytime abroad, you will feel at home as it is a Euro-inspired cafe style restaurant. Staff will not fawn over you at the table and explain everything on the menu like the Olive Garden, but if you ask a question they will happily oblige. The food is spot on, desserts to die for, and the wine will never disappoint. Bonus, you can often take a freshly in house made baguette home.

Doreen B.

Yelp
Dear La Buvette, I have been dining at your restaurant for many years, not sure what has happened within the past few months, but it was not good. The atmosphere is nice, relaxing and really nice to sit outside, and a good wine selection, however, that is where it stops. Within the past 4 months, I have been there 3 times, and it was horrible. We waited 1 1/2 - 2 hours for our food. And on 2 occasions, half of my dinner and someone else's was cold. One of those occasions was lunch, the restaurant was pretty empty, I ordered a salad as my entree, and it was 1 and 3/4 hours before it came. The other entree for the table was a soup and salad. Not terribly difficult meals. I have eaten at many Paris bistros for many years, while working there, and any self respecting Parisian bistro would be horrified at this service. Sorry, I will not be eating at this restaurant again - what a shame to ruin such a lovely establishment.

John M.

Yelp
Poorly trained and rude staff lacks knowledge of French food and wine, which, oddly enough, seems to be the business this establishment attempts to sell itself as. This cafe is anything but French. Skip it.

Kaitlin C.

Yelp
What a great cozy spot for a date night! The vibe inside was right and the wait staff were very knowledgeable and friendly! The food was amazing! Most dishes come with a pile of bread and butter. I will be dreaming about their brioche and will be stopping back in for a loaf soon! Come ready to carb load . Let's talk wines. We were overwhelmed with all of the options so we stuck to the by the glass menu our first go round. The Tempranillo was a great wine pick! (Forgot to note the vineyard/vintage). You can also browse their extensive collection sorted by regions/varieties and pay the corkage fee to drink there. They have a 10% off deal for 6+ bottles to go.

Tisha B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. Wine selection is always spot on, as is the food choices. The only draw back is the distain vibe the staff exudes. Ask a question and you're looked down upon. Let alone ask a cheese question and you're lucky they don't let you to leave.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Wonderfully relaxed vibe, reminiscent of a cafe in Paris. Excellent rotating menu options and a standard menu to select from.

Tess F.

Yelp
Does everyone know something that i don't? I've only ever heard good things about this place but we waited 45 minutes for the world's shittiest cheese plate. Our wine was gone for a good 20 minutes before we finally decided to forget the food and just get the check. To our dismay the check arrived WITH the cheese plate. We received 3 pieces of cheese and a glob of mustard for $14. Also the menu is hand written and some of the wines were slightly illegible.

Yelp
I'm in Omaha every other month or so for work and I always make an effort to come here. I like to go out and try new places but I always reserve a day for La Buvette. The atmosphere is for sure 5 stars if you're looking for a laid back feel for an intimate date night, or if you just want to stop by during lunch for a cheese plate while you read your book. It's so affordable I usually end up ordering more than I need, but I'm coming from Denver so my opinion might be skewed in that respect. Bread and butter seem to come with everything which is awesome, but be careful because you might end up with like three plates of bread and butter depending on what you order. I will say that last time I got a sort of scallop linguine dish and it was rather average and the scallops were a bit dry; however, that aside, I've always had wonderful dishes.

Yelp
Ok, ok...I kept hearing from coworkers "I am curious to hear what you think?" I am moving hear from Scottsdale (have also lived in NYC, LA, South FL and many other cities in the US along with traveling for work around the world) and was looking to find a great little French place. We ordered the Charcuterie with meat and cheese, and extra salad and also a chicken with mustard sauce (special for the night). The charcuterie was really good (aged Gouda was the bomb), the salad was fresh, and everything else was just good. I will definitely go there again. The wine by the glass made me happy. I had heard service was very "French"...yeah, so what. If you have been to France you know what I am talking about!

Sooo I'm writing this review in response to KD. D "bad review". (I guess the K on this person name stands for Karen.) My friends and I were eating a few feet away and saw the whole thing. They took it upon themselves to rearrange furniture and tablecloths. Didn't even ask the staff if they could. They just felt entitled to do all these shenanigans. Finally the server went and talked to them. They were rude to her and to the other staff. They just stormed off ranting like big babies since they did not get their way. Now, moving on to actually review. Every time I'm in Omaha I have to come to this place. It's amazing! The wine selection! The rotating menu! The service! We had the rabbit sausage and it was amazing! We also had the pork belly, carpaccio, endive salad, rackets and a tart for dessert. Everything was amazing! The staff were so kind. Will be going back again and again!

Yelp
We were just in there. Waited for 15 minutes to get our water. Very nicely asked a waitress if we could order. She was snotty and rude. Natalie I believe was her name. We decided to leave since she was so rude and we were just discussing customer service. I asked for the phone number and managers name. She told me I could look it up. Their plates looked beautiful. Our waitress was horrible.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to go for a drink. It truly feels like you are stepping outside of Omaha and are in a small town in Europe. It's cheap, good for apps and snacks, and has an amazing selection of wine. Whenever I bring people here they are so impressed.

Yelp
first off i've heard about this place for almost a year and SO happy i finally made it :) this place is amazing, and don't let the name fool you, this is a straight up wine, grocery; and restaurant. first off we only had a quick waiting time for a table for four which started our experience off nicely. (quick sidenote- they normally have a patio out front you can sit at, but sadly it's being renovated, but can't wait til it's all done). once seated, we were able to get up and fine a bottle of wine we'd like and get it opened and poured. they do charge a corkage fee so be aware of that, but you can also pay by the glass as well. if you're in a group like i was, a whole bottle is the way to go imo. wine was super affordable here and loved the variety and taste. for food, they have got great choices from appetizers, entrees, and lighter sides. we started with a hummus plate and a cheese plate, which was all accompanied with a nice place of bread with herbed butter. that was honestly enough food right there, and super fun to pair the different cheeses with the humus and wine :) a couple of people did get entrees of carpaccio and another of spaghetti and clams with a garlic sauce. both were also stellar and so happy i was allowed a bite :) i did share a dessert of a fruit custard (can't remember the name) but it was very good and had blueberries in it. the menu itself too is great because they do have specials every day! overall loved this la buvette's total vibe! it definitely had a french feel to it, and didn't even feel like we were in omaha. it is a smaller place so wouldn't recommend more than 4 people in your group, but a great place to just chill, eat, drink, and chat amongst friends :)

Yelp
I have just walked out of this highly touted establishment not do to the food or ambiance, but because of 2 very (extremely) rude employees. We had a prior experience thus can say food is very good- but after the unwelcoming snippy servers out of the gate, will not be returning. My husband is a business owner so tried talking with the employee to let her know what we were experiencing so she could perhaps attempt to make it right. She was dismissive, suggested we just leave (which we were doing anyways). We were simply blown away. Doesn't matter how great a restaurant is if there employees are rude and unwelcoming. Super disappointing. The highlight of it is we left and walked 100 yards down the street to M's bar- it was phenomenal and employees were very happy to welcome us and serve us. Great food too.

Yelp
A perfect little Parisian sidewalk cafe but in the market area of Omaha! The pace of service was very French 2-hr lunch ;) But we had nowhere to be and we picked our own chilled rosé and sat drinking it while we waited (about 45min) for our foods. The smoked salmon plate was my fave: hard to mess up, but the creme fraiche was an excellent bed to set cucumbers and capers in. Kate loved the beet salad: loooots of goat cheese chunks and a great light basic bistro "dressing." The curry chicken salad was just a little less creamy than I'm used to (but I scarfed it all up anyway). The grilled toast's olive tapenade was more of a bread soaking sauce than a bruschetta style tapenade. And we had to ask for water and remind them for our bread service BUT the house made breads with a huge swath of unsalted butter was delish. And in fairness, Saturday at the close of market (we sat around 1:30) was a pretty busy time to wanna stop in. Cute spot, fair wine selection, a few really great bistro menu items. Would totally go back!

Yelp
Such a cozy and adorable little wine bar in the Old Market! I could spend hours here if I didn't feel bad about taking up one of the tables. Good luck getting a table on a weekend night, but the small amount of tables is perfect for the vibe there. There are tons of varieties of wines and other drinks at a reasonable price, and the food is delicious as well. Perfect for a date night!

Yelp
This place has always been great and my family has been going there for years. We had a special event for my mother's 80th birthday and they normally don't take reservations, however, they pushed a bunch of tables together in order to create one big table for us and we all had a wonderful time. The food and the service were excellent, as always!

Yelp
I don't know who the female server with shoulder length wavy hair is, but I can tell you she is by far the rudest restaurant employee I have ever encountered. She told us to get our own table. No problem. Brought us water and then ignored us... and when we had the temerity to ask her who was going to help us and take our order (while she folded towels), it all went downhill. I love La Buvette. I've been going there for years and years. Birthday parties, anniversaries, business lunches and dinners etc... I won't be back. I'm still slack jawed at how she treated and talked to us. Unreal. We decided to leave and give our money to M's Pub. Preston's awesome BTW. :) The unnecessary snotty "have a great day" as we left was unreal. I know this is probably dumb venting like this, but geesh, being treated shitty feels pretty shitty.
