"La Napa is typically a tapas restaurant in Crown Heights - but now they’re also operating a full-on grocery store. They’re selling everything from kale, garlic, and celery to eggs, manchego, and jamon serrano, and you browse their pick-up selection here." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, matt tervooren
"Nostrand Avenue’s La Ñapa comes from Francisco Anton, a chef who ran a similar concept in Miami. He opened this Latin American restaurant right before the pandemic, serving wine and snacky dishes, including croquettes with salted cod, patatas bravas, and a hunky chicken torta with black bean puree, cheddar, and guacamole, on a brioche bun. The arepas in particular, between $10 and $15 each, are heaping and well-worth their higher-than-usual price tag." - Emma Orlow

"A small family-run tapas bar whose menu includes grilled shrimp skewers with tamarind sauce, but which has struggled to attract outdoor diners despite nearby activity; the chef-owner reports being unable to afford a roughly $10,000 outdoor build-out and faces additional burdens from infrequent street cleaning, removed trash cans, heavy traffic that prevents street closures, and inconsistent enforcement that has already led to multiple violations even without a finalized outdoor setup. Pro bono design help is in progress to create a 31-seat, weatherproof outdoor installation that the owner says would allow rehiring staff, though rising costs for heaters and air curtains and the slow design process mean the restaurant must rely on takeout and delivery in the meantime." - ByPriya Krishna
"On a quiet corner in Crown Heights, La Ñapa looks like your everyday coffee shop. But this casual tapas spot is actually a well kept Venezuelan street food secret hiding in plain sight. They specialize in arepas, blue corn tamales, and chicharron. Come for dinner or weekend brunch with someone who likes eating pork." - Nikko Duren
