Cedric Grolet Patisserie Adds Fruits and Flowers Menu to Berkeley Hotel | Eater London

"Housed in an angular, minimalist showroom near the Tuileries, this boutique is largely devoted to the chef’s trompe-l'œil fruits displayed on white marble pedestals. Offerings change with the seasons — examples have included pine nuts, figs, cacao pods, quinces and a young Thai coconut — and each creation layers multiple textures and preparations. A quince composition, for instance, may feature a molten centre of jellied quince stock infused with peels and seeds, quince dice cooked in the stock (some candied), a sugar-free quince marmalade and a mousse enriched with quince paste. Across the shop, there is a clear commitment to using as little sugar as possible except where it is essential for leavening, moisture retention and mix stability." - James Hansen

One of the finest pâtisserie experiences I’ve ever had Cédric Grolet Le Meurice is, without exaggeration, one of the best pâtisseries I have ever tried. Yes, the prices are high, but the quality fully justifies them. These pastries are not just visually stunning — they are an explosion of flavor once you taste them. The balance, intensity, and purity of ingredients are truly exceptional. Visually, each creation is a work of art, but unlike many places that focus only on aesthetics, here the taste completely lives up to the look — and often exceeds it. A special mention goes to the hazelnut pastry, which is simply outstanding and among the best I have ever tasted. Practical advice: pre-order your pickup in advance. Lines are extremely long every single day, and walk-ins often face significant waiting times. Finally, the attention to detail in the packaging is remarkable — elegant, sturdy, and finished with a magnetic closure, reflecting the same obsessive care that goes into the pastries themselves. An unforgettable experience and an absolute must in Paris.

We'd previously placed our order using the click and collect option, specifying a time slot. We picked up our items in just five minutes without waiting in line. If you go without ordering in advance, you'll have to wait a long time. We bought almonds, mangoes, large pistachios, and popcorn. The popcorn was our favorite. Definitely give it a try. The others were delicious, too. Yes, it's expensive, but it's a one-time purchase. You can pick up your cake here and enjoy it in the Tuileries garden right next door.

Tried four of the famous trompe-l’œil pastries: Pot de Pop Corn, Mangue, Pomme Verte, and Pot de Chouchou. The Pot de Pop Corn was my clear favorite, its depth of flavor was unmatched, perfectly balanced with a subtle salty sweetness. The Mangue, though beautifully presented and hyped online, wasn’t my top pick but was still very good. The Pomme Verte was excellent, tasting remarkably like a real apple with an impressive texture, and the Pot de Chouchou offered a more straightforward flavor profile but was enjoyable nonetheless. We waited about an hour in line on a Saturday afternoon, but the staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and organized, making the experience pleasant. At €86 for four pastries, it’s definitely a splurge, but everything was crafted to perfection, and you truly get what you pay for. A must-try for pastry enthusiasts seeking an elevated, one-of-a-kind experience.

I have visited on Wednesday and around 12:05 I have joined the queue. The queue moved relatively quick and within 30 minutes I got in. Mind, this location is open only Wednesday to Sunday and only 12-6 or 7 PM. All items were available and I have purchased 3 creations: pistachio, apple and mango. Do bear in mind that these creations have to be consumed within 1 hour. In summer definitely quicker and you have to carry it carefully as they are fragile. There isn’t any seating area but there is a park nearby. They do offer napkins, spoons for your take away. Is take away only with click and collect available but you must reserve few days ahead. Separate queue for click and collect. The pistachio wasn’t my favourite. The amount of sea salt was overpowering and didn’t let actual pistachio speak for itself. Mango was delicate but absolutely refreshing and worth every penny. The apple has little dill inside but I actually liked it so it gave softness to actual green apple sourness. Don’t expect red apple flavour when is actually Granny Smith type. Each priced at €18. Do mind these aren’t cakes. They do sell cakes like fruits and cost around €35.

Google
The pastries are truly exceptional and incredibly delicious. The trompe l’œil, which are desserts designed to resemble fruit, offered a perfect harmony of fruity flavours without being overly sweet. The only downside might be the relatively high price, but it is certainly worth experiencing at least once.

Google
I took Fig, Pistacchio and Blueberry. Also before I was in the cafe and took Vanilla. Each 18€ Incredibly tasty and well made. But don’t expect them to be sweet. They are not. The are fresh fruits with very little sugar if it’s even there. It’s really unique not to feel jam but actually like a fresh fruit pure. Very light deserts, pistacchio was the only that was slightly heavy. My favorite was blueberry and vanilla ( that I took from the caffe in the morning

I really wanted to try these desserts, as they were so hyped up online. We waited in line about 10 minutes, actually not bad and time went by fast. I appreciate the fact that you’re the only customer in the store, so the line is worth it. The presentation and experience is amazing. We bought the blueberry (18€) pistachio (18€) and popcorn (25€) The pistachio I would say is interesting - NOT SWEET, which I was not expecting. The texture is interesting, a little bir salty, you can really feel the pistachio taste. The blueberry is good, not amazing, not sweet again. You can feel bits of actual blueberry inside. The popcorn was by far the best and most interesting of all. This dessert was sweet, with caramel and actual popcorn inside. We shared 3 desserts to 2 people which was way to much, I would just choose 2, as they were quite big. It’s an interesting experience, over-hyped, good but would not try again.

Google
Me and my wife visited to try this amazing experience that is an instagram sensation. We decided to purchase the Pistachio, Hazelnut, popcorn, mango, and peanut. … Disappointed. To say the least, it is a beautiful art piece with no sustenance. The best one was hazelnut, but still was not mind blowing. It was ok, the rest were mediocre at best. To clarify, the flavour was not there. It felt bland. The main concern, was the sugar content. If you do try them, do only one. Yes, you want to try many flavours. However, with the amount of sugar they use, having 2 or more will leave you dizzy and feeling unwell. Personally, trying deserts, especially at an establishment that curates such a high level. I would expect amazing flavour and a feeling bliss. I was disappointed mainly because I have had amazing deserts at many restaurants that leave this place far behind. These are nice art piece loaded with sugar, to compensate with the inadequate baking skills. At first, after finishing it, and feeling inadequate I was saying that, “even if it was free and I was starving I would not eat it”. Now that I feel better I will simply say, try one for the experience, but personally I don’t feel it’s worth it.

Yelp
If you didn't know this place was run by a social media-famous pastry chef, the long line should tip you off. That said, it moved pretty quickly and I was in the store within 10 mins. Super nice personalized shopping experience, with six fruits to choose from the day I visited. Went with the peach, with was looked gorgeous and was tasty enough if not spectacular in its flavor - definitely more for entertainment factor. You can also order ahead to avoid the line, though you don't get to have the nice in-store experience if you go that route.

Yelp
The wait for this patisserie is one of a kind. Cedric who is well loved on social media, and has a worldwide presence and name recognition There are two lines at the location. A lot of his bakeries will have one line for the café to be seated to enjoy desserts. There's also another line for takeout. The dine in line is incredibly impossible to get a spot. I would recommend coming on a weekday as early as possible as many many of the signature items well so quickly especially the most popular ones. To be honest, the item was very tasty, but it's comparable to many other notable, patisseries in France that would have a long history in Heritage, a much shorter line. And I had to do it again I would still go lineup for the experience and try the items, but it would not be worth repeat visits in my opinion as the items are not memorable and your time will be better spend elsewhere

Yelp
Walked by this queue everyday for two weeks and one day I braved the January Paris morning and stood in line. Was the 30 minute wait worth it? They serve individual items made by Meurice Grolet at €17 a piece. I tried the mango, peanut, Paris Brest, and cookie. All were good, but I think the mango stood out.

Yelp
After a 40-minute wait to enter the bakery, we were lucky enough to get some croissants and the desserts from the shop. Their pastries emphasize fruits and offer a fresh take on traditional French desserts. In general, the croissants were decent but nothing too special about it other than it's appearance.

Yelp
During my recent visit to La Pâtisserie du Meurice par Cédric Grolet, I had the pleasure of experiencing two distinct desserts that left a lasting impression. While one was a strawberry-shaped delight that fell short of its price tag, the other was an oversized cookie that exceeded all expectations. Let's start with the strawberry dessert. Shaped like a perfect, ripe strawberry, it was undeniably a visually striking creation. The attention to detail and craftsmanship were evident, and I eagerly anticipated indulging in its flavors. The inside revealed a luscious strawberry puree, which provided a burst of fruity goodness. However, despite the pleasant taste and lovely presentation, I couldn't help but feel that the $20 price tag was a bit steep for what it offered. While enjoyable, the overall experience didn't quite justify the high cost. On the other hand, the cookie at La Pâtisserie du Meurice was a true standout. As soon as I laid my eyes on its substantial size, I knew I was in for a treat. The cookie was an absolute marvel - perfectly baked with a golden exterior and a soft, gooey center. Each bite was an explosion of rich, buttery flavor, accompanied by the perfect balance of sweetness and texture. It was an indulgence that brought pure joy with every mouthful. At $15, the price felt more reasonable, considering the sheer size and the exceptional taste that made it worth every penny. While the strawberry dessert fell short of my expectations in terms of value for money, the cookie at La Pâtisserie du Meurice was a revelation. It showcased the craftsmanship and expertise of the pastry team, delivering an exceptional dessert experience that left me thoroughly impressed. In conclusion, La Pâtisserie du Meurice par Cédric Grolet offers a range of creations that can be both hits and misses in terms of value. While the strawberry dessert, though enjoyable, may not have justified its price, the oversized cookie was a remarkable masterpiece that justified every bit of its cost. It's a reminder that exploring the menu at La Pâtisserie du Meurice can lead to both delightful surprises and an occasional mismatch between taste and price.

Yelp
Doctor: you should eat more fruits and vegetables. Shelley: *goes to Le Meurice and gets all the Fruits by Cédric Grolet* Instructions unclear! Lame jokes aside, Cédric Grolet seriously makes the best pastries in the world. They're always incredibly beautiful, ingeniously creative, and above all, absolutely delicious. Highly recommend all the Paris Brests and the Fruits!

Yelp
I saw the head chef's work in a video on Pinterest about a month before my trip to Paris, and I knew that I absolutely had to visit his patisserie, and see these works of art, for myself. Cédric Grolet is renowned for his lifelike confections and apparently word has spread about his brilliant works of art. When I arrived, there was a line of about a dozen or so people outside of the tiny shop. The wait to enter was about 10 minutes, plus another 5-10 minutes once inside, which gave me plenty of time to watch these brilliant artists create even more delicious confections. I ordered a Royal Apple and, simply put, it was nothing short of a work of art. The color was bold and vibrant, with a beautiful glossy finish. The marble printed boxes were customized to house the confections safely and protect them from jostling during transport. The Apple was so beautiful I almost didn't want to eat it... Almost.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to visit and taste one of his masterpiece. It is emotionally overwhelming to enter a place like le Meurice, let alone a place like Cedric's , so needless to say how disappointing it was not to be greeted by any of the 3 ladies behind the counter. I approached the counter near the cash register and the lady asked me if I were ready and I replied that I needed help to select one. Rather than walking me through the 6 delicious (it could have been 5) little heaven, she says " well everything is written here". How sad! I refused to let her ruin my moment and went for the black lemon one and proceeded to pay. Again she was unpleasant, cold and quite brusque. At 17 euros a piece, not only do you expect great service, but with Cedric Grolets name attached to it I would have hoped for better. Cedric should make sure that EVERYONE feels welcome. If I wanted bad experience I would have ridden the MTA.

Yelp
We had the pastries for breakfast and were ok nothing spectacular but the afternoon tea was awful we couldn't eat anything. Sandwiches drenched in oil mayo and so gross made me sick , sweets were just as bad. Do not recommend wasting time and money here.

Yelp
I had read an online article about pastries by Cedric Grolet and had bookmarked the new location he has opened in Paris. It is very close to The Louvre - you can actually walk to it. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star rating is because of the extremely high prices. I tried 2 of their pastries - Hazelnut and Pistachio. Hazelnut was pretty good, but I wasn't much impressed with Pistachio - found it very heavy, not like delicate pastries available in Paris bakeries. The packing was efficient and the boxes were beautiful. The shop itself is minimally decorated. I guess they want the attention of visitors on the pastries. I would say go and try one, but it definitely is pricey!

Yelp
This is art. Every piece is so beautiful that you don't want to mess it up by eating it. While the desserts are beyond beautiful the taste is just ok and on the tad too sweet side.
google avatar

Dina M.

Yelp
When food depicts art you're probably in Paris. Here's another example of exquisite food art aka food porn created by Cedric Grolet for Le Meurice. Grolet was named the World's Best Pastry chef in a restaurant in 2017 during the Grandes Tables du Monde gala, but he's knows throughout the world as simply the best pastry chef. They open at noon but the line starts just after 11am and they close just a few hours later. I think they're closed on Mondays, but best to check before. Each day they offer something new. Can't wait to go back today and try another piece of art.

Yelp
When 5 pastries are not enough than Cedric Grolet is the place to visit. Simply wonderful each pastry better than the next. Probably one of the most memorable pastry delights of this most recent visit to Paris!
google avatar

J. Karim A.

Yelp
I lined up just before noon. The chefs came out when it opened to shake everyone's hand. Everything looked beautiful. I got the chocolate cake (€30+) and lemon (€15+). Both were beautiful. The chocolate cake was okay, large but not great. The lemon was interesting but not great. Both too expensive to be worth it compared to what you can get elsewhere.

Yelp
I really can't believe this place doesnt' have more reviews. I purchase their cherry dessert which looked more like an art piece than a dessert. The texture, flavor, everything was perfect. It's a little pricey however what isn't expensive in Paris! The packaging is equally impressive. They give you the pastry in what looks like a marble box. I honestly did not want to eat it but when I did it was sure delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
This is art. Not your average bakery. You can see all they can make in the book they sell. For now main bakery is still under construction so they work from smaller place and limited hours. Sometimes lines are long but towards closing no line. It is worth the price.

Sofia G.

Yelp
I had read about it online, and when I saw the pictures I thought it would be all about the perfect picture. I arrived at Cedric Grolet's Pâtisserie, and I fell in love with every piece of art laying on the table. The service was incredible, and my friend and I were given samples of the most delicious cookies. We bought the Madagascar Tart - the best tart I have ever tried! Not only was it beautiful, but the flavors were extraordinary. We ate the tart in the Jardin de Tuileries. Will be my first bite when I go back to Paris!
