La Saison Bakery is a charming Cambridge spot dishing out exceptional sourdough, heavenly pastries, and gourmet pizzas, all in a cozy outdoor setting.
"This acclaimed Cambridge bakery opened a second location on Main Street in Charlestown at the end of 2024, and residents are delighted. La Saison was founded in 2007 in Tehran, and when owner Soheil Fathi immigrated from Iran to the US in 2017, he brought the business with him. The new Charlestown location sells expertly made bread, including loaves of sourdough and baguettes, that are best enjoyed fresh with a liberal amount of butter but also make for excellent toast and sandwiches. Pizza, trays of which emerge hot from the oven around lunch every day, sit alongside La Saison’s selection of must-try pastries, including croissants, kouign amann, palmiers, and the fan-favorite feta-za’atar scone." - Anna Darrow
"La Saison’s cherry oat pecan cookie is as hearty as it is sweet for a stick-to-your-ribs satisfaction. PSA: The Cambridge bakery just opened a new location in Charlestown serving up a lot of the same beloved baked goods." - Celina Colby
"There’s no one in Boston making French baked goods as perfect as La Saison. Think things like crunchy, sugared palmiers, laminated multi-grain croissants that shatter with each bite, and slices of chocolate soufflé cake. This is the place for a simple meal of pastries and an espresso drink, but they also do a great breakfast sandwich, which comes with an impressively thick baked egg patty, avocado, and bacon on a homemade brioche bun, served with tangy Persian pickles. La Saison has no indoor seating but plenty of tables outdoors. And in the colder months, they set up outdoor igloos to keep you and your rich hot chocolate warm." - lala thaddeus

"Owner Soheil Fathi founded La Saison Bakery in Tehran, Iran in 2007. When the United States toughened economic sanctions against Iran a decade ago, Fathi didn’t know how his business would survive. So he decided to move to the U.S. and bring La Saison with him. After working as a pastry chef at Flour, he finally reopened the Iranian-born shop in 2020. Six years later, La Saison continues to bring a taste of Iran to Cambridge, and Fathi has built a fanbase for his exceptional pastries, brownies, and sourdough loaves. Be sure to try new menu items, too, like their croissant with roasted pistachios and saffron mascarpone." - Katie Draisen
