"The Oakland-based birria taco and torta truck - which has been parked in Jack London and Richmond - is covering the cost of anyone who can’t afford a meal. Check out their Instagram for current location." - team infatuation
"As notable for its charitable work as it is for its delicious tacos, this was one of the first taco trucks to really popularize beef birria tacos in the Bay Area, before the term “quesabirria” even made it into the lexicon in these parts — at La Santa Torta they’ve always been promoted as “red tacos,” made with Jalisco-style beef birria. It’s a solid version, a little less wet than some of the others around town, so that side of consommé is essential. It was also one of the first trucks to offer birria ramen: meat and instant noodles served in a big cup of consommé. Check Instagram for the trucks’ daily schedule, but this Jack London location is fairly consistent — and soon, they’ll have a standalone restaurant in West Oakland too." - Luke Tsai
"This food truck on the corner of 4th Street and Broadway makes some of the best quesabirria in Jack London, let alone the Bay. They’re stuffed with fork-tender beef that drips out of the crisp shells along with juices, pickled red onions, and melty cheese. If these life-affirming birria tacos weren’t enough to make you pledge your loyalty to this place, order the birria with stir-fried egg noodles and a squeeze of lime—it’s a less messy meal that’s equally flavor-packed. You can take it all to go, or plop down on one of the benches out front. " - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez
