"Some time ago, La Torta Gorda was on the Food Network. You will be reminded of this when you visit. If the Food Network ever comes back to town, La Torta Gorda should be featured once again. "The pierna enchilada torta made with pulled pork is the perennial favorite at this bright, family-run Mexican sandwich spot in the deep Mission. It comes with a mound of pulled pork topped with plenty of beans, avocado, and jalapenos and stuffed inside a crisp-soft torta roll. "Torta Gorda is a heavy hitter. The tortas are indeed fat, especially the ridiculous Mega Cubana, and they are also delicious. It’s a simple space, with some counter seats inside and some picnic tables out back. We usually go with the rajas con queso or the carne asada. Get napkins.
