"This French bistro offers inventive cuisine, exceptional hospitality, and an extensive wine list. Standouts include the truffle-infused French onion soup, wild Burgundy escargot, imported Hokkaido jumbo sea scallops, and crispy panko chicken paillard, each showcasing the restaurant’s dedication to fine dining. There’s a happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Grab reservations through OpenTable, place orders online for delivery, and call in for takeout." - Katie Shapiro

"La Tour is your best bet for French food in town. We always get excited about the escargot in a garlicky sauce persillée that begs to be soaked up by a baguette, raviolo with foie gras and butternut squash, and the incredible pernod creamed spinach. They have a social hour from 3-5pm, where you can get great wine by the glass starting at $9, $3 oysters, and tuna tartare for just $10, all while you stare at the bright paintings and blown glass pieces throughout the dining room." - Kim Fuller

The service was absolutely amazing. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the hostess with a warm smile. Adam our server did an amazing job explaining the menu and recommended a lot of tasty dishes for me to try. He also made great drinks! The food was cooked to perfection. I have been living in Vail for a few years and have tried many restaurants and this one is by far my favorite. From the moment you sit down to the moment you leave it is an incredible experience. I was in a food coma at the end of the night. The staff is amazing, you can tell they all really care and show great hospitality, very personal and attentive. The restaurant owner came to the table to make sure the food was perfect. She is so sweet. I highly recommend this restaurant as it is by far one of the best in Vail.

Google
A good choice for a French restaurant in Vail. A combination of salty and sweet flavors from the selected dishes, the first course "Truffle French Onion Soup" was very tasty. For the main course, we ordered three of the options, and they were all really good: "Five Spice Crispy Duck Breast," "Heluka Pork Chop," and "Pan Roasted Organic Scottish Salmon." To top it off, the dessert "Profiteroles with Armagnac Date Ice Cream." I congratulate the waiter Gustavo, who served us with great courtesy and kindness

Google
I thought it was a fancy restaurant, but it doesn’t seem like it. Food was nice, we had the escargot, very good. The filet mignon was nice, mushrooms delicious, but the croquettes were very soggy. Wine selection was decent.

Dasha Elgart

Google
Elegant upscale restaurant offering exquisite French-American cuisine, an extended wine list, outstanding service and cozy ambience. Generous portions, so we alway shared an appetizer and an entree.

Went for my birthday. It started out well, staff was attentive and friendly. My friend had asked upon arrival for a small celebratory dessert to be brought out at the end to surprise me. Things started going downhill once the food arrived. First, our appetizer was incorrect, but no efforts were made to replace it. We got what we got apparently. We had ordered the shrimp cocktail and ended up with the sashimi. That being said it was the best part of the meal taste wise for me . The food was brought out so quickly we didn’t have time to finish, before our salads were served along WITH our entrees. Instead of spacing the timing of the cocktails, appetizers, salads and entrees everything just came out on top of each other. Also the entrees just came out so fast! Was pre prepared? Just waiting under hot lamps till someone chose ordered that item? Bc that’s exactly what I had thought. How did they have time to cook that, highly suspect. We were definitely feeling rushed. The food was a straight mid. Not terrible, but not knock my socks off either. I got the duck which is my favorite treat yourself meal. It was cooked well but the flavor just wasn’t really there and it wasn’t properly butchered as there was quite a bit of fat still attached. The potatoes were very very dry, overcooked (hot lamps?). Again, we were feeling rushed although there were plenty of tables available and open for new patrons. Our waiter kept coming to take our food before my friend was done with her meal. Several times. I indicated that my plates could be taken, but they weren’t. We we’re hurriedly given dessert menus, but at that point we just felt that we’re done. I didn’t want to linger as the whole thing was just felt so rushed and we couldn’t just sit and chat and enjoy the meal. We were hoping for a high end dining experience that we could take our time enjoying each other and the meal. That is not what happened. My celebration dessert was never brought out and that disappointed my friend whom had arranged it.

Google
Oysters were the smallest I have ever seen and the escargot was just ok but the miso cod main with truffle was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and packed with such a unique flavor. Will think about that dish for a long time!

Maikel D

Google
Food was ok, my party of 9 was a mix of reviews. Some plates were ok others were good. Service was not on point, even with a reservation our food took a very long time, also the waiters i felt are not in line with a French restaurant experience, they expect the big tips but not top notch.

Jairo Torres

Google
My wife reserved this restaurant hoping to give us an enjoyable dinner however it did not turn out that way. The second we walked in the restaurant the atmosphere and decorations did not match the price and that was a common theme during our dinner. For the price we paid the service did not match it whatsoever our server was rude and wanted to finish quickly with our orders and was pushing us to order food he wanted to get our order and leave quickly. He was very unfriendly and lack of customer service skills. The food was decent the appetizers were good especially the onion soup but the main course were average for the price they ask. Maybe your experience might be better but ours was very disappointing and unpleasant.

Yelp
This place is Super nice Excellent service super detailed orientated and attentive The food is amazing, everything that we order was great

Zenmaster S.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! When I come to vail I like to visit my friends that work here for drinks and a superb meal. The escargot is a hit whenever I bring a friend or family member here. The scallops are amazing, I only wish there were more on my plate! This restaurant leaves me feeling full and still wanting more! Service is great for vail and exceedingly warm! I love the art and flow of the restaurant. It's an open and inviting environment where you can sit comfortably for hours talking with friends and loved ones endlessly.

Yelp
Came here for Max's birthday, he wanted French and insisted on this place - La Tour. I was a little concerned, because there are a lot of haters on the reviews... but I've been telling Max, I'm very glad he picked this place. Food was amazing. Service was impeccable. I honestly call out everybody who gave a low rating and criticized the food - You are the reason Yelp is dead and broken. We ordered - caesar, french onion soup, Hibachi Oysters and bread service to start - every item was delectable. Entrees - Lamb trio, five spice duck, manhattan steak, and black cod. Amazing every item. Each of the five in our party whole-heartedly agree. Yelpers are a joke, this place is EXCEPTIONAL - service, food, and beverage.

Blanche D.

Yelp
Great service, exceptional food! Our group enjoyed cocktails and mussels in the bar before being seated. I had a perfect dry martini which paired perfectly. We enjoyed all the courses, most notably the hibachi oysters and Alaskan cod. Superb!

Bethy E.

Yelp
THE BEST FOOD IVE HAD IN AGES have to also try to loaded scalloped potatoes! Jareth was our waiter and he was also the best!!!

Hannah J.

Yelp
We made a reservation here through Tock, paid a deposit, had it confirmed before and on the day of our reservation only to find out when we arrived with our two young, hungry children that the restaurant was closed. Very disappointing.

Yolande V.

Yelp
So incredibly happy with this place. It was one of the best dinners I've ever had. The food was incredible (appetizer, entrees and desert). Our server Jeff was so on top of it. Definitely recommend getting him if you're able to. The ambiance is absolutely wonderful. Between the fire place, music and lighting. I will definitely come back if I'm ever in vail again.

Austin J.

Yelp
Service was smooth. Great seating half inside half outside. French onion soup, Caesar salad, and scallop appetizer were my favorite. We also got the tuna poke, artisanal greens with citrus honey salad, the panko chicken entree and dessert trio. The panko chicken used to be my favorite. It seemed less seasoned, but I used to get it on their salad. Shout out to the restaurant for having a dessert option to buy beers for the staff after work. I had never seen that on a menu before and think it does a great job of reminding customers that the food and drinks don't magically appear. Even if someone didn't add it to their bill, I think it would cause someone to think about the people providing the service and leave a good tip. Would definitely dine at this restaurant again.

jim g.

Yelp
What can you say about an establishment that was founded almost 25 years ago.... It may have once been a great place to dine and the wine list is impressive but there are other places I would spend my dinning dollars. The food is good, lots of butter and salt ensure that, but our party of 4 agreed nothing was outstanding. If you're a vegetarian there is one lonely entree to choose from. The service was acceptable, nothing other that. To add insult to injury bread ( not even very good) will set you back $9. The setting is ok but starting to look a bit tired and in need of updating. In my option this place needs a major reset and even then not sure it would be much better that a place for visitors who don't know better to choose as a last resort

Melody C.

Yelp
The service was terrible. Glass cup broke and server did not fully clean up. Food took forever to come out. Ambiance was good. But the food was good.

Michael R.

Yelp
I would compare La Tour to the French Laundry when Tom Keller was cooking! Best restraint in Vail by far. Everything was to die for, Escargot, Foie Gras, Oysters, lobster bisk, French Onion Soup were are starters! I had the Black Truffle Cod was best piece of fish I have ever had! Incredible meal with great wine list and fantastic service! Best meal we had in vail as we went to every high end restaurant, we where there for 10 days. If you go to vail and are looking for a great meal priced very reasonable for fine dining don't miss going to La tour.

Chuck O.

Yelp
I don't think this restaurant is as good as it was. We made a reservation 6 weeks in advance and our table was in a poor location. We are pretty regular customers when we visit Vail. They have bread service on the menu for nine dollars and it was a pretty lousy bread selection. Hardly worth the price. I ordered Duck Breast and it was pretty tough to cut. I didn't complain as I didn't want to spoil the evening for the others. We are not cheap diners we spent almost 900.00 dollars for five guests. There are plenty of good restaurants in Vail and I think we will give this one a pause.

Jina M.

Yelp
My husband and I came here during our visit to Vail for my birthday dinner! We booked a couple of weeks out, and even then reservations were piling up - so make sure you reserve way in advance! The restaurant was convenient to get to cause it was right on the main road, and the interior was very cute, cozy, and warm. Right away the hostess showed us to our seats and within moments a server asked if he could take our coats and get us started on water. The service during our entire meal was amazing and so attentive - we loved it! For the food - it was delicious! I ordered the Duck breast which was amazing and cooked just right. The meet was tender and the broccolini was a good touch. The fried rice - I gave to my husband since he's a bigger fan. The truffle onion soup seemed small but there's a lot inside of it and it was so good. The perfect soup for the below 0 weather ! The bone marrow was a must get - it was a little thicker than others we've had but the seasoning with the bread was still a great combo! We got the loaded scalloped potatoes which tasted good, but was the same same as most scalloped potatoes. The presentation was where it was coolest! And of course asparagus since my husband got steak - the balsamic vinegar was a great add to the asparagus! Then we got creme brûlée for my birthday cake dessert - and it was amazinnggg. DEF wish i had room for two of those!! Overall, we definitely would come back and would highly recommend! For the price, it is on the pricier side but definitley not at the highest end in Vail Village!

Marisela G.

Yelp
I'm Glad I Was Able To Walk-In Without a Reservation To Celebrate My Birthday. The Food Here Is Spectacular. Perfect Location. Loved The Ambiance. Friendly Staff All Around.

Joanna K.

Yelp
Service was outstanding! The wine list is extensive and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable. The food presentation, portions and quality all exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend La Tour.

Sarah D.

Yelp
Quiet, romantic, intimate, and delicious. LaTour is all of the things you want out of an upscale meal in a ski chalet town. We had the incomparable earl grey cocktail and an unbelievable whiskey sour to start. Wow! Don't miss the cocktails here. We had a beet salad (artful and tangy) and a Caesar with anchovies (delicate with a satisfying crunch). For dinner, I opted for the truffled French Onion Soup, which frankly, is to die for. Better than any entree I think. My husband has the panko chicken (can't remember the exact name), which he loved so much that every bite was the "last bite" until the plate was empty. I WISH we had had room for dessert but alas. We will have to come back! Kudos to the amazingly friendly wait staff. Such a pleasure.

Buckhead C.

Yelp
Great menu, great ambiance, mediocre food. The escargot was served slightly above room temp (yuck), the filet was quite average (not sure it was actually Wagyu). Oysters were just meh. Staff was hit or miss. Sometimes friendly, sometimes snobby. I hate to leave bad reviews but we just didn't get the love here that we received everywhere else in Vail. Feel the need to share in hopes they can improve.

Alena K.

Yelp
Not sure where to start, but had terrible server who was not really paying attention to us, on top of that food was terrible. Escargot was ok. Had better bone natter somewhere else, why put crumbles on top of that? Lobster bisque was watered down, terrible. Duck and steak were cold and steak was undercooked. Only ok thing was French onion soup. Pick a better place for same money and go somewhere else.

David G.

Yelp
Exceptional & flavorful French cuisine. Wonderful attention to detail, and the wine list. Hmm. Our best experience so far this week.

Alex B.

Yelp
Food was fine but nowhere near worth the cost even in Vail. Menu was limited and unimaginative with too much salt throughout. Biggest gripe was an additional 3% "culinary fee" on the total tab.

Sandra R.

Yelp
If you are going to Vail, this is a must for dining. The food is incredible everything tastes amazing and beautiful presentation. They do a great job pairing wine with your meal as well. ItI's a charming restaurant as each room has its own character. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. We go there every year when we are in town!

Ken M.

Yelp
Great restaurant for vacation, my friends and I had a delightful dinner! Will come back when I visit Vail next time

Todd M.

Yelp
We sat at the bar like we usually do, very nice and skilled young man behind the bar, friendly and knowledgeable. Ordered our usual escargot appetizer and it was a delight as usual. Served with hard bread for soaking up the garlic sauce. Pan seared scallops were cooked perfectly and came with a corn, peas and chimichurra sauce that was very good.

Robert F.

Yelp
There should be a category with no stars. The service consists of an order taker that runs around the restaurant taking orders, the only thing missing is the Jack in the Box receiver to speak into. We gave Jack our order and one hour later our entree shows up; only problem is we had ordered appetizers that never arrived. Jack had no explanation of course, so the manager of this Menagerie came over after serval more minutes of waiting. Seems our appetizers had been delivered to the wrong table. We are now over an hour in and no food and no real hope of when some might arrive and no real concern or concession delivered. The manager needs to be given training on customer service but his lack thereof is evident across the restaurant. We then paid for our drinks and left unsatisfied and disgusted. We were able to walk across the street to a real restaurant with great service. By the way, the food we did see pass our table appeared to be manufactured in the same kitchen American airlines gets their meals prepared. Although I hate to disparage the airline kitchen with a comparison to this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant.

Kerry S.

Yelp
La Tour is the top of my list of favorite Vail restaurants. We had a beautiful Christmas Day dinner tonight. Stevan paced the meal perfectly and had excellent recommendations. Stevan made the entire evening a real pleasure. Also, the sommelier (Victor) had a wine recommendation that we'll remember for future reference. From hostess to bussers, everyone made sure we were welcomed and had everything we needed from entrance to departure. It is simply a well-run, well-designed, chic restaurant with delicious food. The entire staff hits just the right note, every time we've visited La Tour. The menu options are sometimes classic, sometimes interesting - the menu will not bore you. Even the vegetable side dishes (so often just grilled something-or-other at other restaurants) are addictive and beautifully presented with optimally prepared main dishes. Desserts should not be missed. We look forward to coming back!

Orvieto J.

Yelp
Lots of money for OK food, even with the Vail factor. I would never go again. 5 more characters

David S.

Yelp
Exceptional menu and great follow through. Recommend the ceviche appetizer. Ate outside in front with live music nearby. Server knew the menu cold. And had good suggestions.

Jessica H.

Yelp
We had the best time tonight. Mallory, Victor and all of the staff were so kind. Great wine recommendation and so beautifully decorated. Our new d

Ray G.

Yelp
food was ok, service was poor, from being asked multiple times if we had decided yet before we even had our drinks, to dropping dessert menus and then returning to take our dessert order before clearing plates because we were still eating...been a long time since I've felt like my business was such an inconvenience to a restaurant. As one of our party said "I wish I could say that was slightly disappointing"

Lisa B.

Yelp
Fabulous meal at La Tour over New Year's week. Food was delicious, great wine options and our waiter was charming and helpful.

Nicole E.

Yelp
This was the first time and place I ever ate escargot and it was quite good. Had bad thoughts in my head on what it would take taste like but it was surprisingly pleasant. It could be that they excelled at escargot and it was best I was introduced to them here and nowhere elder. It was a beautiful not quite yet fall day in September. Although it wasn't ski season Vail was still quite busy. If you try escargot anywhere, let it be here.

Rachel O.

Yelp
I've never felt so uncomfortable with a waiter. We all wanted just water and no alcohol. Our waiter was appalled by that decision and clearly treated us as a get in get out table after that. After we told him we didn't want any alcohol (just food) he got nasty, rolled his eyes, and awkwardly stood there while we looked at the menu. Clearly, he didn't think our table was worth his time since he didn't think we would be spending as much money with no drinks (ended up spending $300). In the past I haven't cared all too much about poor service, but this was so poor that it ruined the experience. The food was mediocre. It's expensive for the sake of being expensive. For 45-60$ an entree service and food need to be better. I had the salmon and I'd say the salmon at The Cheesecake Factory is better. This restaurant would be out of business in 3 months if it wasn't for being in Vail.

Denise C.

Yelp
I wish I could leave a more positive review; however, the service in this restaurant is lacking severely. We stopped during our trip to Vail for dinner and quickly realized that customer service was non-existent. First off, we ordered a white wine, and our server brought us our red (even when we pointed at the name because when we first ordered, it seemed as if he didn't recognize the wine). Anyway, I kept my red wine because it would be a shame to throw it out. The waiter did not seem to give a damn if he messed up our drink order or anything and was quick to just walk away, RUDE. We ordered our appetizers, and I looked forward to their french onion soup with short rib. Let me just say that there was basically NO short rib in this soup. I came across a burnt piece of meat that reminded me of a chicharron, and that was it. The soup was okay, but it wasn't spectacular. I would not recommend it. The escargot was just okay, also something I probably would not order again. I ordered the black cod for the entree, and my boyfriend ordered the duck. To be honest, the only reason this place is being rated a 2 star is because of the entrees. They were actually quite tasty. The black cod came with asparagus, potato, and a seaweed salad. I didn't really care for the seaweed salad, but it was an overall good dish. My boyfriend really enjoyed his seared duck breast that came with farro and a winter squash puree. Overall, if I traveled back to visit, I would not make reservations here. The service by our waiter was horrific, and when you're out to dinner, you want to have a pleasant experience. It felt as if we were a bother to him. There are plenty of other good restaurants in the area.

Phil P.

Yelp
The food was okay but our waiter Jeff was the most pompous POS I have ever encountered. Took forever to bring us our drinks, appetizers, and eventually our third courses. The one thing my wife liked was her soup, the third course of her order. When she couldn't finish it and ask to take it to go, Jeff rolled his eyes and took it begrudgingly. She later wondered if he spit in her soup because he seemed so put out. I had also asked for a cup of coffee. After the check came and I signed the over $200 bill, he came and admitted he forgot the coffee. La Tour is not worth the effort from out perspective unless you want to be waited on by the Soup Nazi.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Average food. However, people forced us to pre pay $25 per person for a 3-person reservation, which should have been applied to the final bill via Tock. They server lied and said Tock should give us a refund. They clearly tried to get both funds from tock and the bill. What a complete joke.

Taylor M.

Yelp
Our waiter was wonderful, but I have to say I was not so happy about the menu selection. When I received my dish, I also think that I had higher expectations. I do not believe La Tour will be on the itinerary the next time that I visit Vail.

David F.

Yelp
Excellent - even in COVID times, the menu, atmosphers, and service were top notch. A little taste of good french cuisine in the mountains

Jess N.

Yelp
All you want at La Tour is more! Their appetizers are tasty (we had East Coast oysters with aged Sherry sauce, Cesar salad, onion soup and Escargot). The wine selection is out of this world. It is a must when you are in Vail!

Magda C.

Yelp
We were really impressed with both service and quality/presentation of food. We got the chef tasting menu for $52 which had three courses and dessert. They were willing to replace venison with shrimp since I'm a pescatarian. All food was very tasty and good sized. We left feeling full and happy. I recommend this place for a nice, romantic dinner.

Ariana V.

Yelp
AMAZING. If you're looking for a fine dining experience in Vail, this is seriously a must-do. We came here for my birthday a few days ago and thoroughly enjoyed everything from the atmosphere to the meal itself. We started with the bread service, which came with house made ricotta, butter, olives, and an assortment of breads. The ricotta was delicious: I'm always a HUGE fan of house made, fresh ricotta and this delivered. For my main, I ordered the Alaskan Halibut. I initially was hesitant due to the price (it's a $50 dish), but I can honestly say it's worth every penny. The halibut is so tender it practically falls apart. The flavors are divine and the truffle is just enough to deliver that extra punch. The seaweed salad was light, elegant: a perfect partner for such a decadent fish. My husband had the duck breast, which also looked excellent. I tried a slice of the breast and it was incredibly juicy and flavorful! We ended with the crème brûlée and chocolate pots de crème (we couldn't decide which sounded more delicious). The pots de crème was my husband's favorite of the two, but I couldn't get enough of the crème brûlée. It was incredible! Definitely don't miss dessert here. On another note, our server was excellent. He actually recommended both the crème brûlée and the halibut and I wasn't disappointed with either recommendation. Overall, this is definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a more elevated dining experience in Vail village. I'd recommend making a reservation in advance as it can get fairly booked up!

Rebecca E.

Yelp
Visited La Tour for our 4th anniversary dinner. Why bother asking during the reservation process if we'll be celebrating a special occasion if nothing special is done? The hostess seemed like she couldn't care less, not smiling or being cordial once. My chicken was fine, nothing special, but lacked sufficient sauce. My husband's $49 halibut was tiny and lacking in flavor in every way. The interior is dated and appears to be suffering from an identity crisis. No a/c apparent inside, which might be ok if window openings weren't restricted the highest part of the window rendering insufficient airflow.

Fiora F.

Yelp
Came here during COVID so it was very quiet. The food was very savory and the bread was nice. This is a decent place to get some dinner in vail.

Christine L.

Yelp
Food is exceptional. Service is professional, calm, exactly on point. Ambiance was lovely. A rainy night in Vail with the soft lighting on the patio highlighting the pedestrians with their umbrellas outside as we sat comfortably inside. Chefs's scallops with corn and vegetables special was delicious. Great preparation and presentation. Chilean salmon was perfectly prepared and the potatoes and sauce were just right. La Tour is always our first choice when we are in Vail!!

Laura R.

Yelp
Not a good experience Ordered the sole (new recipe) Came out COLD and rubbery. Sent it back after the Manager Chad asked if I want something else No the sole please done right Second time not good No apology We ordered coffee that came out Cold Cancelled dessert and left Our waiter was awesome Victor. I gave one star for him Both Chad and the hostess Need to be replaced La tour has been so much better Save your money and go elsewhere

Allen Y.

Yelp
The cocktails are excellent here! Very inviting interior. The seared foie gras is very nicely prepared and just melts jn your mouth with flavor. The duck confit and dover sole are the go-to entrees for sure. For dessert, I recommend the flaming creme brûlée (careful not to blow on the fire!!) and the dessert wine flight.

Lissette L.

Yelp
The food and drinks were amazing. The restaurant had a great vibe. The service was excellent and not overwhelming. I'm giving only four stars because I ordered a side of chicken with my salad. When they brought out my salad with the chicken as a side, the server threw out the plate to the point that half of my chicken went to the table. They did nothing about it.

Vanessa G.

Yelp
It is a very nice restaurant and the server was very knowledgeable of the menu so he made the experience better. They will offer to split your curses in 2 if you are looking to share instead of bringing just one plate. That seemed amazing to me because I always love to share the food. We ordered the truffle onion soup which was very tasty and delicious, also a side of bread with different dipping sauces. Then we got the fish which is not the same in the menu because is out of season so they brought us Cod fish instead. I will not rate 5 starts because the server raved so much about the meat and honesty it was way average. I am a big steak eater so I recognize quickly when steak is good. It wasn't bad it actually was very tender. Overall great experience we really liked it!! It is very expensive I would say but still good quality food.

Philip T.

Yelp
Amazing food & servive. Our waiter was wonderful and took good care of us. He was amicable, charming and provided immaculate service. Highly recommend this place. Non pretentious and delicious food & great ambience.

Tracy T.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting Vail for the first time and had dinner here the day we arrived. It was a great experience. The staff were all so attentive and friendly. We had some great wine with awesome food. 5 stars all the way.
