The 38 Best Restaurants in Barcelona

"Barcelona’s brunch scene and design aesthetic meet the fragrant streets of Tel Aviv at Balabusta, which serves up fresh-baked challah, bone-in braised beef ribs, fired-roasted beets with creamy labneh, chicken and cauliflower shawarma with fresh pita, eggplant bunyols (like beignets), and a whole slew of bold, colorful, and vegetable-forward dishes. Check out the weekday fixed price lunch menu (popular with the local working crowd), or get in line for the weekend brunch when you can enjoy a simmering crock of hearty shakshuka." - Sam Zucker

La Balabusta

"Despite its simple, homely feel, La Balabusta will definitely leave its mark! The Israeli-born chef creates dishes from the Middle East that combine Mediterranean, Sephardic and North African flavours." - Michelin Inspector

Labalabusta is one of those small Barcelona spots where intimacy works in its favor rather than against it. The space is compact and often buzzing, yet never uncomfortably loud. Despite the close tables and lively energy, conversation remains easy, which gives the whole place a warm, assured charm rather than a hectic one. The food is, quite simply, sensational. From the very start, the homemade bread sets the tone—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The hummus is beautifully balanced and deeply satisfying, and the croquetas are outstanding: crisp on the outside, rich and comforting inside. Another clear highlight is the goat cheese with grilled grapes, an elegant combination where sweetness, acidity, and creaminess come together in a way that feels both playful and refined. Equally impressive are the drinks. The homemade lemonades are vibrant and refreshing, and the cocktails are thoughtfully crafted, pairing exceptionally well with the food rather than competing for attention. They feel designed as part of the experience, not an afterthought. Overall, Labalabusta delivers far more than its modest size suggests. It’s a place with soul, excellent flavors, and a relaxed confidence—proof that great food doesn’t need a grand stage to shine.

Easily one of the top restaurants I visited during my time in Barcelona. This was a recommendation by chef Ottolenghi and it did not disappoint. The plates were well curated with balance flavors and textures, the portion sizes were great and the service was top notch. I would recommend the grilled halloumi with tomatoes and persimmon. The broccoli was also fantastic. I'd highly recommend this restaurant. 10 out of 10.

Really good, straightforward food with clean Mediterranean flavors. The dishes are easy to enjoy — fresh, balanced, and beautifully presented. We especially liked the cauliflower, and the kebab pita. It felt a little overcrowded: the space was lively — bordering on hectic — which added character, but also made it a bit less comfortable. Service was friendly though a little rushed. Prices are on the higher side for the portions, but overall it’s a tasty and well-run spot worth visiting, especially if you like vibrant, casual dining.

I was worried about the low rating but this place is a straight 5 stars, no questions. Amazing taste, great stuff, natural wine, overall experience and interior. Not too posh, I love the graphics and interior on top of all this. I had an eggplant with honey and apple, Mackarel ( I have not listened to one comment here no to order it, it was SO GOOD, not sure about the sweet potato chips, but the salad, dressing and aioli was absolute delicious!) and lemon dessert to finish. Amazing, go eat there and stop complaining people 🫶🏻 paid 60 eur with tips ✨

Honestly, I feel that the high ratings are mostly driven by the fact that this place is listed in the Michelin guide, and that alone seems to push people to give five stars. I wouldn’t say the food was bad - it was tasty enough, but nothing wasn’t really a “wow” for me. The price-to-quality ratio felt a bit off, with prices leaning on the higher side. That said, the food is fresh and seasonal, and the interior is very pleasant, which makes the overall experience enjoyable. The space itself felt a bit cramped, and on a summer evening it got quite hot inside.

The food is outstanding. Every dish exceeds expectations. This is the kind of place to go with friends and share many plates. Highlights: Fried feta mille-feuille with chili honey, sesame, and seasonal fruit — 10/10 BBQ chicken skewers with baby potatoes, sage, and lemon — 10/10 Fish and chips with tzatziki — 9/10 Halloumi with figs, cherry tomatoes, and chili — 9/10 Burnt eggplant fritters with feta, green apple, honey, and dates — 8/10 (the originality of this dish is what makes it special). Extra points for being pet-friendly! 🐾

Great atmosphere. I had chicken skewer which was awesome, great combination of sauce and spices. I also had meat skewer which was 50% beef and 50% lamb and it was so overcooked. The pita bread was awesome though. The waitress was so attentive and warm, I felt right at home. Her name was Maria. I’ll revisit just for the service. The prices seemed a bit high for the food quality.

Love it here! Been a few times. Feel like it is easy to bing people with different diet restrictions here as there are many options and helpful staff. (Not a given in Spain ;) I feel like service here is so good!) So many of the dishes are really good, and I always get the eggplant dish, hummus plate and the challah.
