Ladybird Bakery is hands down my favorite bakery in NYC. I’ve been enjoying their sweet treats since I was a child and their Brooklyn blackout cake is truly out of this world. Perfectly sweet, rich, & moist with the most beautiful decorative details. I was surprised with one this Valentine’s Day and like always, it was absolutely divine. You simply have to try the chocolate cake or any other delicious desserts. You won’t be disappointed.

FANTASTIC LOCAL DESSERT BAKERY 🧁 Great to see Lady Bird back up and running in a new location. The cakes are very good and come in different sizes. Known for their “Brooklyn Blackout” cake for the chocolate lovers and it also comes as a cup cake that’s more manageable in size. My favorite is the pecan fudge bar… it’s a must try. Overall, all the dessert items are very good! Highly Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love this bakery! Recommend the red velvet cupcake and the orange cranberry scone! They’re sooo yummy! The carrot cake is good too but have tried better. I hate that there minimum is $10 and always forget to bring cash haha.

I visited this bakery, rumored to have ties to the now-closed Two Little Red Hens on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The cupcakes had overly sweet frosting with a gummy texture (not fresh!) and the tables were not clean, detracting from the overall atmosphere. A big disappointment.

Love the Strawberry Cupcake! The frosting was soft & inside have pieces of strawberries. It was not too sweet which it was perfect & taste really fresh! The place is cute, cozy & small! There is a few indoor seating and they have benches outside. All the staff are nice!

My experience was that it was just okay. I ordered a fruit tart containing almonds and cherries on mother's Day and it was the last of the bunch so that was a good sign. however, when I try it it was a bit like the cherry we're pre-made and dipped in some syrup, but the tart part was pretty good. maybe better luck with something else next time One year later in new location, had the famous blackout cake along with the chocolate chip cookie. It passes the vibe check but not the most incredible thing. Lemonade was ok too

Friendly staff who helped me customize a birthday cake right before work. Their Brooklyn Blackout Cake is hands down the best in Brooklyn. And their new location is a massive improvement. Will definitely be back!

Yum. Their Brooklyn Blackout Cake is our go-to birthday cake. Every birthday in our family is an excuse to buy another one of these cakes. They should win prizes for it. Everything else there is yummy too.

I like the new location! The decorations are fantastic. My wife's and my favorites are the blackout cake. The cakes are always fresh, nice, and moist. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and I appreciate that this location has a seating area. This is our go-to spot for cakes for any occasion.

Love the new and bigger location. Love the ambiance and decor. I've been a customer for years. All of the cakes are delicious. My personal favorite is the black out cake and carrots cake. Cakes are always fresh and nice and moist. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Love that this location has an area to sit at. This is my go to spot for cakes for any occasion.

This bakery has a vast selection of cakes, pies etc. I've gone there for their outstanding Brooklyn Blackout cake which no one else has perfected from the original recipe as well as they have. Everything they sell is wonderful. Call to order first. Long line so go early, especially on holidays for pickup.

My aunt is a huge fan of this bakery so for every holiday she buys cakes from here. Every Christmas we get one of their log cakes and for Thanksgiving we get pies. This year she brought an apple pie and there was not a single apple slice in it. The inside of this pie was sugar mush. I've never had a worse pie in my life and for the high price, I am so disappointed. This is literally a fourth of a pie and it is just filled with sugar mush.

Shhh... Ladybird is basically Two Little Red Hens. Don't tell. (You can Google it to learn more.) My boyfriend and I stopped in and grabbed a Brooklyn blackout cupcake, 4-inch Brooklyn blackout cake, and lemon bar. Lemon bar and cake were both perfection. You can skip the cupcake. In my now-nonexistent review of 2LRH, I went on and on about how you can't emulate the layers of cake in a cupcake, and that holds true here. I am 99% sure that the cake recipe is the same here as at 2LRH, which is to say it is the absolute bar for all chocolate cake. (The bakery also has a similar layout, with jars of cookies with handwritten signs, etc.) Need more of that cake immediately!!

Ordered a 12 inch round cake ($103) for my sister's bridal shower and the cake was beautiful, delicious, and very affordable! It made for a beautiful table center piece and there was plenty of cake to go around for our 30 person event. Everyone especially loved the raspberry buttercream in between the layers! I was able to place a phone order a week before the event. Ladybird Bakery's site is clear and straightforward to follow regarding custom cake orders. Their staff was able to answer any additional questions I had, specifically regarding the flower placements on the cake - they directed me to send an email with a photo reference for the design and colors. The pickup process was seamless, as I just had to let them know my name and cake order. They had a breadth of other pastries as well that I'm looking forward to trying on my next visit! 10/10 would recommend!!

My daughter picked up a black out cake for my birthday. So delicious! The decorations were nice and not overpowering.

I ordered an 8-inch devil's food cake with chocolate mousse and chocolate glaze for my friend's birthday. Not only was it artfully decorated with complimentary buttercream flowers, it was also one of the moistest chocolate cakes I've had (without it being a 100% mousse). It was pretty substantial, and our group of 9 couldn't quite finish the whole cake (pretty close, with maybe 1/8 of a cake left). I also got a peanut butter cookie sandwich. It was absolutely delicious, and cost only $2.75.

Awesome new location for the famous Ladybird Bakery in Park slope. The interior has a few tables for seating. There is of course, a wonderful array of pies and sweets to choose from. You can't go wrong with the peach and raspberry tart. The buggy car is adorable for photos. I wish ladybird all the best at this new location. Take a stop by on your way to Prospect Park for an iced coffee and a nice sweet!

Last week for my birthday, my friend surprises me with a beautiful decadent red velvet cake from ladybird bakery. I have always been wanting to check out this establishment, but never got the chance so receiving that cake was one of the most pleasant birthday surprises. First off, I would say the cake was moist, well baked, not too soft, but also not too dry. The cream cheese frosting taste was absolutely delicious, the ratio of cake to frosting was absolutely perfect, if either one was a little more, it would be completely out of balance. I liked that the red velvet cake was appropriately red, did not have too much food coloring but just enough. The cake kept really well in the fridge for at least a week, which is a big win when you are buying cake because let's be real unless you were serving it at a huge party, It's hard to finish it in one sitting. Thank you again for making my birthday special and I will be coming by and trying more of your cakes and baked goods.

Best Brooklyn Blackout ever! There is no question in my mind that Ladybird is #1. Their Brooklyn Blackout is sOo fudgey, soO chocolatey, SOO moist, it's almost unreal. I don't find myself in this part of Brooklyn very often but when I am, I cannot help but drop by to pick up this decadent cupcake or cake. It is truly one of the best cake bites in the entire city. I can't vouch for anything else here, but given that this chocolate cake is so awesome, I have to believe the other stuff is just as good. Definitely get yourself a piece of this Brooklyn Blackout.

Absolutely delicious cakes, and beautifully decorated. For custom cakes, I'd recommend really talking about what you want, and make sure you're on the same page. That was my only complaint. I was very specific about what I wanted, and was charged extra, and then the cake didn't have all the colors I wanted/paid for.

Arrived at 5:55 PM, right before they close at 6 PM (didn't even realize!!), and they still helped me order. Although I could tell they were a little rushed, they were still patient enough with me and waited for me to select something. I got the lemon cupcake (with lemon frosting + lemon filling). Frosting is a little sweet for me, but they also give quite a thick layer of it. The cupcake itself is not too dry, but not the most moist ever either. The inside lemon filling was delicious though! It was thick, goey, and really brought the entire cupcake together. I would say that it is a little pricey ($6) for basically a cupcake with some filling, hence the 4/5 stars, as I would expect something a little more special to command that price. NY man. Oh well, good cupcake, probably wouldn't get it again.

This baker makes the absolute BEST buttercream in Brooklyn that I have tried! I love love love their cakes and flavor options, how beautiful they decorate, and their super affordable prices! It's so easy to call in a custom cake and they are incredibly accommodating. They are also a super cute place to just swing in for a delicious cookie or pie--and they have a great grab and go selection of cakes for pick up if you don't have time to order ahead! This is a must order place for my bday cake every year and will stay that way for as long as I'm in the city. I can't recommend them enough and can't wait to go back!

The Brooklyn Blackout cupcake was to die for!! It was soo rich, gooey, moist, chocolatey and fudgey. I was looking through the display and deciding what I wanted and another customer said "Their Brooklyn Blackout cupcake is literally the best" and boy was she right. Every bite felt like a heavenly delight! I saved some for the next day and it was still so moist. How do they get their desserts to be so moist?!

Windsor Terrace boasts five bakeries and several coffee shops but this place has the best quality. Delicious variety of treats. There are a few tables for eating-in but do bring one of their delicious fruit tarts or a blackout cake home with you.

We had a Ladybird cake during a friend get together and it was delicious! It was the lemon cake and had delicious buttercream icing. I was drooling and needed to get some of my own! My husband and I were finally able to get here and bummed that they become sold out on their various, especially smaller sizes, of their popular cakes. They are a bit pricey - a small, what looks like could be a single serving cake was $15, cupcakes are able $5 each and the larger/regular sized cakes may start around $45 and up. Perhaps I am messing up the cakes, but pretty sure we spent about $70+ on one of each - a lemon cake, a small red velvet and a chocolate cupcake. I thought about getting the strawberry cupcake, but saw that there was some long hair wrapped around like 2 or 3 of them. I did mention it to one of the girls, but they just took it off the tray. The treats were definitely good, but the chocolate cupcake was just fine for me (cake was moist and good, but I don't really like custard) and overall it was pretty expensive for just a regular day lol I would consider getting a cake here for a special occasion and would try again to get there earlier for a smaller version of the ones I like so it's more affordable. They also do cookies and other treats as well.

Ordered a Bouche de Noel and it was amazing!! From the decorations on top to the decadent chocolate inside! Amazing!

Truly a "mid" cake. Would have been 3 stars if they had done a cleaner job icing my son's 2nd birthday cake. He loves Toy Story and we asked for "2 Infinity & Beyond" and it came out looking like "Z infinity and beyond". Also the marble cake was dry and crumbly. The chocolate buttercream frosting inside was hard too and didn't taste like chocolate; it was flavorless and stale. Whole Foods has better cakes. My preference is always to support local businesses but I won't be returning. Will update and attach a photo once the app stops crashing.

First off when we walked in to LadyBird Bakery it smelled heavenly. They have a vast array of delicious looking desserts from pie, to cookies, cupcakes, and cakes. It was hard to decide and to pick just one dessert so we picked two. We ordered and took home one small 4 inch Strawberry Blossom cake and a 4 inch Brooklyn Blackout cake. The Strawberry Blossom cake was good. The Brooklyn Black out cake was even better. We all concluded that the Brooklyn Blackout cake was the stand out. It was absolutely delicious! The cake was moist, with just the right amount of chocolatey goodness inside from the chocolate pudding in between the layers of the cake and the chocolate buttercream. A chocolate lovers dream! We were kindly and warmly greeted by a female cashier. Service was quick, courteous, and efficient. She asked us if we wanted anything written on the cakes. We exchanged banter with her which made the whole interaction even more pleasant. I hope we will be able to visit this bakery again before they close as I have heard from a friend they are leaving in two months because of increasing rent. I hope they will be able to reopen in a different location. I will travel if need be for more of that scrumptious Brooklyn Blackout cake.

How lucky did I get after eating next door and not having dessert. You could smell the awesomeness thru the door. My nose led me directly inside. Inside the small but not cramped wooden little nook they had beautiful pies and tarts and cookies and these mini cakes. If you could bottle up that smell and take it home!! I got a mini red velvet cake and had them write I love you sis so I could gift on of my 5 sister who lived close by. It was splendid. My heart was full.

I only ever venture into Park Slope for one thing, which is Ladybird's famous Brooklyn Blackout Cake. Until 2 Red Hens reopens, this is where you must go to get that fix for the best chocolate cake known to man. The bakery itself is pretty unassuming located on a quiet street in the neighborhood. The Brooklyn Blackout is without a doubt an indulgent experience - moist chocolate cake, pudding and decadent frosting to top it off. You're going to pay a pretty penny too - $50 for a 10 inch cake (but worth it IMHO). I grabbed a banana walnut scone to go too but it was just meh (one note, not enough cinnamon or nutmeg). Staff is friendly and welcoming. Be warned, parking is scarce around the area but if you need that fix, you need it.

Let's see where to start. Very cute n everything looks delicious.I ordered the coconut tart( small one) and could believe it was 15 dollars. It was great but the crust (which was delicious but so hard you couldn't cut it with the plastic utensils they offered)I had to bring it up n ask the girl to cut it. It definitely was big enough for two people and really good but it's ridiculously overpriced.I use to go to the old location and it was hit or miss but I don't know if I'd go back . I can imagine how much a cake costs. So bottom line it was really tasty but not worth 15 dollars. We're not at cafe San Ambrose in Manhattan.

The best cake I ever had! Purchased the yule log cake for Christmas day and the next day everyone was asking where it came from. The perfect taste not too sweet just right! The staff is super kind and helpful. Went back for NYE cake & I'm already planning to order my birthday cake 10/10!!

The Brooklyn blackout cupcake is phenomenal. Worth every penny. I'm not a crazy fan of red velvet only because it's really hard to find a good one. Theirs is pretty good. But the Brooklyn Blackout cupcake all the way. Also, go early because they sell out of a lot of things as it gets closer to close time.

We love ladybird for its cakes and pies to the amazing selection of cookies and cupcakes. I'm also a fan of the iced coffee. We are sad to hear that they are closing. Sounds like the landlord would not negotiate with them.

Brooklyn blackout cupcake is definitely worth the purchase! It's 6$ for one but it's quite big. The bakery was smaller and had less options than I expected. Nothing really caught my interest but I'm glad I got to try the cupcake. Extremely moist throughout.

I'm a longtime fan of Two Little Red Hens, the Upper East Side bakery that has unfortunately been closed for the past few years. Discovering Ladybird Bakery has allowed me to enjoy those same desserts once again, just in a different neighborhood. When they first opened over two decades ago, Ladybird even shared the Two Little Red Hens name. Are they worth the trek to Park Slope? I'd say so. The Brooklyn Blackout cake is rich and decadent, and tastes nearly identical to other Brooklyn Blackout desserts, except that Ladybird's has less chocolate pudding filling. The apple tart is crisp, with overlaid apple slices forming a swirl shape, a lightly sweet apple filling, and a buttery crust. It is, without a doubt, among the best tarts I've had in recent memory. I was interested in trying a pie as well, but they aren't sold by the slice, so I'll have to return sometime and buy one to impress guests.

Followed this lovely bakery from 8th Avenue to Prospect Park West in Windsor Terrace. Same delicious cakes including the famous Brooklyn Blackout. I love the day-old treats for $1 and coffee. Beating inflation with this $3.50 deal!

I'm so happy I ordered my cake from Ladybird. We went with a lemon cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting which was delicious and soft. The entire ordering experience with Melanie was great. 1. The cake tasting was relatively inexpensive and we had a great time mixing and matching flavors to decide our favorite combination. 2. I asked for the floral decorations on the cake to be shades of purple to match my floral decor and they were happy to do so. 3. Putting in my order was a simple process and delivery on the day of was seamless.

Just had an encounter with the front end staff that has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Ordered a cake for pickup and requested a certain style from their design options and a certain color. When placing the order the person I spoke with didn't indicate that the type of cake being ordered wouldn't allow for the specific frosting in the design option chosen. In addition we asked for purple to be used in the flower colors. At no point during the ordering process did the staff say the design wouldn't be achievable given the type of cake ordered. If they had made this clear in the ordering process maybe a different cake would have been ordered or maybe some suggestions as to how to achieve the look we were going for would have been provided. Neither occurred. This morning we go in to pick up the cake and it is far from what was ordered. The flowers are blue not purple and the icing is not the smooth white sheet from the design option that was requested. The icing makes the cake look like it's for a 1 year old not a 50 year old. In the moment I was so disgusted by the cake presented that I didn't even think to take a picture. In the store we were repeatedly told by the initial front end staff that this type of cake with this type of icing can't be made they way requested yet sitting in the display was the same FLAVOR of cake with the same icing and a clean look which is what we requested. When this was brought to the attention of another front end staff she indicated that that cake was frozen.....so essentially it's not that you CAN'T do what was asked it's that you didn't do what was asked and now you're selling us a cake that lacks the beauty usually found in a ladybird cake. While discussing the cake the front end staff states that they can ADD more purple to the design. Wanting to know what she is seeing as purple since all I'm seeing is blue I ask the staff "can you point out what your saying is purple on this cake since you're going to ADD more?" She responds she isn't going to go into semantics with me and that she's trying to help me. WOW.....the idea that icing was being called purple and then I'm told that the staff won't go into semantics with me when I'm trying to understand what she is seeing blows my mind but you top it off by saying you're trying to help me. At no point was an apology provided or a statement that they messed up and wanted to make it right. The tone was that a favor was being done by them in trying to correct the cake that they had failed in an epic way. From the person taking the initial order, to this person who for me is now the face of Ladybird Bakery they failed and no attempt to acknowledge and apologize was made. They made an attempt to smooth out the icing and change the color of the flowers. Still an EPIC fail if we are talking about what I ordered and provided their own design pictures for versus what I received. Ladybird Bakery has changed and I'll say it hasn't been for the best. Having staff who are invested in your business is not an easy task. When staff think that they can speak to customers anyway you end up losing long time customers. She might be family, she might be a friend but either way she is bad for business. Without customers businesses fail...

Posting on behalf of my mom - We ordered a cake for a special holiday party and had someone drive the 45 mins to pick it up. Upon opening cake (in front of our guests), there was hair on it. Post plausibly from when the greeting was written on the cake with frosting, as I doubt it would be during the baking process. We've been buying ladybird cakes for more than 6 years now. Even after having moved out of Brooklyn, we're faithful to it. Called to speak to someone about this issue (twice) and was told someone would call back. It hasn't happened. It's our first time having issues with the bakery and to see how they manage these issues is disheartening. The cakes are always 10/10, best in the borough. This sole situation and lack of resolution makes it frustrating to want to go back. If we ever hear back from their management, will be sure to update this review.

Ladybird Bakery is a place that we inadvertently went on a search to locate after we left New York Sports Club. We were walking down the street and saw a gentleman holding a cake box. I immediately wanted to know which bakery he got that from...a few minutes later I got my answer as we made it to the next block. People were outside of Ladybird Bakery and they kindly informed us that they were on line to place their orders. Ladybird Bakery is an intimately-sized establishment and so we patiently waited to get inside which took about 15 minutes. Due to COVID-19, Ladybird Bakery definitely requires that you wear your mask while inside the store and their rule is 3 people inside at one time. Once we got inside, i was hypnotized by the tantalizing aroma of baked goods. Staff behind the counter were pleasant and helpful as we asked various questions about the Ladybird Bakery items. Regular sized cupcakes are $2.25 and mini-cupcakes are $1.75 each. Ladybird Bakery has cookies, cakes, tarts ,etc....So many great looking desserts that it was difficult to make a decision-lol. We finally decided to purchase a regular sized Marble Cupcake (chocolate and vanilla cupcake w/ vanilla and chocolate frosting) and one regular sized Classic Vanilla Sprinkle Cupcake w/ chocolate frosting. Cupcakes placed neatly in the box, I eagerly anticipated tasting them later. Cupcakes - 5/5. Why? Because the cupcakes are a decent size, are not overly sweet + tasted like they are made with fresh organic ingredients. Ladybird Bakery's cupcakes are moist. We devoured those cupcakes-lol. Next time I will get a Red Velvet Cupcake and another Marble Cupcake. Ladybird Bakery is open 7 days a week - 8am- 6pm. Website- ladybirdbakery.com. I tried the Brooklyn blackout cupcake a few weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it...can't wait to go back very soon!

I've never had anything bad from this place. The food is delicious, the service is great and the ambiance is very cozy and cute.

There Brooklyn Blackout Cake Is Amazing You Have To Try It Hands Down The Best Cake In NYC!!!!!!

I've been coming to Ladybird since it was 2 little red hens in the early aughts. They have lovely tarts and if you're looking for a cupcake or cake that is a little more dense (in a good way), this is the place to go. Their cupcakes/cakes are a bit more of the old fashioned style compared to the magnolia bakerys of the world (which I also enjoy). They're great for a custom birthday cake and the results are reliably good. There's a lot to be said for reliability. I bought a scone this morning and it was....bad. It was the blueberry oatmeal scone and tasted predominantly of baking soda with blueberry bursts to break up the medicinal flavor. I threw it away after forcing myself to eat most of it. I wouldn't go with the morning baked goods. I have long enjoyed that there's leftover cake and pie cut up from the day before for a couple of dollars. It's allowed me to sample a fair number of things I'd never otherwise try.

Great bakery, came here to pick up a cake for Amy sisters 18th bday. They did a great job. It was a double chocolate cake which was great. I loved the presentation on the cake, it came designed with iced flowers. Very impressive

Ordered our wedding cake from here and loved it. I actually grew up down the block from this bakery, and would go there as a kid with my parents, so it felt particularly sentimental. The cake was delicious, the tasting process was seamless and enjoyable, the person we worked with was friendly and helpful, and nothing felt overdone or overpriced. They were especially helpful in working with our budget, and suggested a display cake and a sheet cake so that we'd have a beautiful cake but would be able to serve everyone. The display cake was beautiful and exactly what we asked for--we actually found one on their instagram that we liked, but I wanted different colours. I went in and recoloured it in Photoshop, and they recreated it exactly as we'd hoped. They were also pretty good about working with allergens--the groom has a fatal allergy to tree nuts and peanuts, so we were very cautious about where we got the cake from. His allergy is bad enough that we didn't want to risk a cross contamination induced ER trip in the middle of our reception, so he did end up with a separate groom's cake (since Ladybird Bakery does have nuts in the kitchen, although they took precautions and prepared our cake separately) but we felt confident enough about the safety to have it at the wedding and to have our guests eating it. Ultimately the groom tried it the next day and was fine. I highly recommend this bakery and I'm so glad they're still around!

I went for some cupcakes 6 cost me 23 bucks each has a different price. -First they dont have a designated cupcake box they all go in a regular box so if you are taking the train keep this in mind. - They are so big so you get your moneys worth.... but so heavy . Me and my 2 kids ate less than 2. -The taste is ....ok the Blackout is the best the rest Red velvet ,carrot cake are all ......ok. Dont buy pumpkin. I havent tried anything else. All in all, it wasnt worth the trip. I could have gotten the same at my local place.

I love this place! I got my daughter's 3rd birthday cake from here - yellow cake with chocolate mousse and fudge frosting! It was delicious and I am craving more of it right now. Because of covid, only 3 people are allowed in the store! They open early on the weekends so you can pick up before the kids are up. I love stopping by for cupcakes and treats for my kids.

Tiny location in the front. Bring an umbrella if it's going to rain. Tried their signature chocolate cake. Very good. Real chocolate, not so sweet where you only taste sugar decent balance of icing vs cake. Service was good in and out.

It's a bit of a trek from Manhattan, but a great place to stop by if you're visiting prospect park. The Brooklyn Blackout cake was highly recommended, so I made a trip here just to try that out. It's moist, decadent, and full of chocolate flavor (my favorite). I ordered a cupcake, but you can also get whole cakes full of sugary goodness.
