Miami’s New Restaurant Openings

"Turns out this city is big enough for two gaudy steakhouse openings in one month. Lafayette opened in Brickell, where El Tucàn used to be. Aside from various steaks, the menu has caviar service, truffle-roasted chicken, and sea bass." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Lafayette Steakhouse Opens in Brickell in Miami, Florida - Eater Miami

"Lafayette Steakhouse, a new American steakhouse from the creators of Queen Miami Beach, pays playful homage to Major General Marquis de Lafayette of “Hamilton” fame — just kidding. The venue, formerly home to El Tucán, opens to the public on Saturday, May 11, in Brickell. Carlos Rodriguez of Escala Forma Studio and Mathieu Massa, owner of Mr. Hospitality, designed the steakhouse. Its interior, just like the group’s other restaurants, is purposely over-the-top, featuring a dark jewel tone color palette of mahogany, oak, and leather, accented by bright, maximalist decor. 'At Lafayette Steakhouse, we’ve created an atmosphere where every detail exudes the opulence of a bygone era,' said Massa." - Olee Fowler

We went to Lafayette and it completely blew us away. From the moment we walked in, the service, food, and ambiance were all top tier! Every staff member we interacted with made us feel taken care of, especially our amazing server Noemi and the bartender, Guy - both were so kind, attentive, and just added to the whole experience. The live music was a very nice touch, the drinks were spot on, the steak was incredible, and every detail felt thoughtful and well-executed. We’ll definitely be back!

Review for Lafayette Steak House, Miami My wife and I kicked off our date night at Lafayette around 7:30, just in time for happy hour, and we were immediately captivated by the restaurant's ambiance. The decor transported us back to a 1920s speakeasy, complete with ornate floral arrangements, vintage paintings, and a charming baby grand piano near the bar. The drink selection was impressive, featuring an array of wines and mixed drinks at very reasonable prices. We also indulged in a variety of appetizers that were nothing short of spectacular. The hamburger sliders were incredibly delicious, and the tuna tartare topped with caviar was a standout dish. After enjoying our time at the bar, we moved to a table, where the impeccable service continued. The staff was professional and attentive, enhancing our dining experience. For our main courses, we ordered the filet mignon and the bronzino. The bronzino was cooked to perfection—light, flaky, and simply melted in the mouth. The filet mignon was tender with a delightful light crust; it was truly on another level—Chef’s kiss! We also tried the macaroni and cheese, which was excellent, adding to our overall enjoyment. Both my wife and I found our experience to be beyond our expectations. I highly recommend Lafayette Steak House, even if you're on a budget. The happy hour offers fantastic value, allowing you to enjoy a great meal with equally great drinks. Five stars!

Shocked this place isn’t more popular. My gf and I went on a Thursday evening. Food was phenomenal, had the tuna tacos; the beef tartare the creamed corn the parker loaf the wagyu flight, the fries were the best I’ve had in a long time. Was also impressed with the service, at even the best miami restaurants food wise the service is usually not great. The decor was very nice, old timey steakhouse vibes but with a contemporary twist. Just would really suggest people check it out.

I had an absolutely incredible experience at Lafayette in Brickell! We were celebrating a very special occasion, and what was supposed to be just a great dinner turned into an unforgettable night, all thanks to the OUTSTANDING service from our waiter Gustavo, the manager Paul and the entire team. Gustavo was simply amazing! So attentive, kind, and charismatic, with an incredible sense of how to make a moment feel truly special. His drink recommendations were spot on, we loved every single one! And the sweetest surprise of the night: they took a Polaroid photo of us to remember the evening. It was such a thoughtful and unexpected touch that made everything feel even more personal and meaningful. Every detail, from the service to the atmosphere, was flawless. We left with full hearts, big smiles, and a beautiful memory to keep forever. Thank you, Lafayette Brickell, and a huge shoutout to Gustavo for making our night unforgettable!

I had a wonderful time dining here. Kelly was an amazing server and the bartender gave us a behind the scenes tour of the wine cellar. It was awesome. Celebrated an anniversary here and the pianist was fabulous. Would recommend to anyone in Miami.

We had an amazing experience at Lafayette. Its entrance is a bit hidden, but any GPS will take you there. First, the decoration of the place is nice, offering an upscale yet cozy vibe. Second, service was really good. Third, the food was a bit on the expensive side - but it delivered. For starter, we had the octopus. Then, we had the tortelloni (pasta filled with wagyu short rib) and the garganelli (pasta with black truffle). The first was a bit too al dente for our tast, but the short rib was amazing. The pasta with truffle tasted great, especially the truffle themselves. For dessert, we had the dulcey chocolate popcorn sensation, and it was sensational. Last but not least, they had a pianist playing live there, and the guy was phenomenal. Really brought some great energy to everyone's dinner experience.

Yelp
I highly recommend the new Lafayette Steakhouse in the old El Tucan spot in Brickell. This two story steakhouse has a sophisticated old school 1940s Hollywood interior design that brings style and class. From the minute you walk in, you feel classic vibe surround the chic decor. More importantly, the food is top notch! We ordered the tuna tartare for an appetizer and is we by far the best I've ever had. In fact it was so good we ordered two! The Sea Bass and Skirt steak with fries and broccoli was the entree and both were perfectly cooked and perfection. To cap it off, we had the cookie and the strawberry cheesecake, which was one of the best I've ever had. The service was very attentive and very quick to attend to our needs. Glad to have Lafayette as a great addition to the Brickell dining scene!

Yelp
I was very excited to try Lafayette Steakhouse Miami. The pictures looked beautiful and the entire booking process made it feel very upscale and nice. We dined on a Thursday night, relatively early. When we arrived we were greeted by the hostess and promptly seated. The restaurant is very pretty and has a very sexy vibe. It is dark and there is jazzy music playing. As the evening progressed there was live piano music. The service was good and everyone was attentive and helpful. The server made several recommendations from drinks to food options. The tuna tartare appetizer was delicious however, it was very small. Their bread and butter were delicious however small and it came with a cost. For dinner I ordered the veal chop. It was also small as well as overcooked. I had requested medium and it was definitely well done. For dessert we had the apple dessert and the chocolate and peanut butter dessert. The presentation was nice but the taste was average. All in all the experience was nice. The prices were on the high side for what we ate. I also found that they had many requests of the guest but they were not really enforced. They request men wear jackets or dress shirts and there were several people without jackets and wearing casual Shirts and slacks. I probably would not return to dinner here. Miami has excellent restaurants at a much lower price point.

Yelp
Dined here on wednesday night, and had a superb experience. Yes, the restaurant is expensive (hello, Miami) but they definitely make it worth your while with the experience. Everything we tried was delicious, and the service from everyone (and I truly mean everyone) was top notch and super attentive. While some other "hip" Miami restaurants are purposely rude to make themselves appear exclusive, the staff at Lafayette was amazing, kind and polite at all times. Anthony was an wonderful waiter and had great recommendations. We tried a lot of dishes, among our favorite were the beef carpaccio, the fried chicken, seabass, and creamed corn.
