Miami’s New Restaurant Openings

"Turns out this city is big enough for two gaudy steakhouse openings in one month. Lafayette opened in Brickell, where El Tucàn used to be. Aside from various steaks, the menu has caviar service, truffle-roasted chicken, and sea bass." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Lafayette Steakhouse Opens in Brickell in Miami, Florida | Eater Miami

"I took a first look inside this new American steakhouse from the creators of Queen Miami Beach, which opens to the public on May 11 in the former El Tucán space in Brickell and even jokingly 'pays homage' to Major General Marquis de Lafayette — just kidding. Designed by Carlos Rodriguez of Escala Forma Studio and Mathieu Massa of Mr. Hospitality, the interior is purposely over-the-top, with a dark jewel-tone palette of mahogany, oak, and leather punctuated by bright, maximalist decor that aims to evoke the opulence of a bygone era. Executive chef Kylian Goussot, whose background includes stints at Michelin-starred restaurants and work with chefs like Joël Robuchon and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, created a menu of luxurious starters such as caviar-topped deviled eggs, fried chicken, and fettuccine alongside raw bar items and salads; mains focus on specialty steaks (including dry-aged NY strip and a baby tomahawk that can be finished with sauces or even foie gras) as well as truffle roast chicken, rack of lamb, grilled branzino, and the Lafayette Cheeseburger, while desserts are by pastry chef Nelson Mendonca, formerly of Alain Ducasse’s team. The steakhouse will be open Sunday to Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to late." - Olee Fowler

Lafayette nails the steak—tender, flavorful, and truly well done (not the overcooked kind). Drinks were good, nothing to write sonnets about, but they did their job. The vibe is polished, the service is sharp, and the bill… well, let’s just say even with Miami Spice menu, you won’t walk out under $130 a head. Delicious? Absolutely. Affordable? Not a chance.

Classic Steakhouse Vibes with Top-Tier Food & Atmosphere What a fantastic experience! This place nails the classic steakhouse feel — rich wood, low lighting, and an atmosphere that’s both elegant and relaxed. The tomahawk steak was absolutely phenomenal — cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and they even prepped it so I could take the bone home to my dog (who was just as thrilled as I was)! The music was at the perfect volume — low enough to hold a real conversation, but still part of the ambiance — and the live entertainment added just the right touch of class without being intrusive. Drinks were spot-on, with a solid cocktail list and an impressive wine cellar that’s definitely worth checking out. Pro tip: plan ahead and ask for a tour — it’s a great addition to an already memorable night. If you’re looking for a place with great food, impeccable service, and that timeless steakhouse charm, this is it.

First time here. Went for the Miami spice and so grateful for our server Gustavo recommending specialty drinks and suggesting the tomahawk for only$30 more we got a whole different experience. We really enjoyed the food, drinks, and the unique vibe in this restaurant. Truly memorable and happy we got Gustavo as a server. Also the server assistant Marc was on point. Thanks to Gustavo and Marc for making our visit truly unique and unforgettable.

We went to Lafayette and it completely blew us away. From the moment we walked in, the service, food, and ambiance were all top tier! Every staff member we interacted with made us feel taken care of, especially our amazing server Noemi and the bartender, Guy - both were so kind, attentive, and just added to the whole experience. The live music was a very nice touch, the drinks were spot on, the steak was incredible, and every detail felt thoughtful and well-executed. We’ll definitely be back!

I’m honestly surprised that this place isn’t busier—it’s such a hidden gem! More people need to know about this amazing restaurant. The steak was absolutely delicious and incredibly tender it truly impressed me. And the other dishes were just as fantastic! The atmosphere of the restaurant is also perfect. Everything about my experience here was wonderful. I really hope more people discover this place, which is why I decided to write this review!

Google
Not overpriced which is saying a lot in Miami. Amazing food, amazing happy hour deals (6-8pm) and great bartenders (Harry). This spot is tucked away on a rather shady street which is probably why not many people know about it. Definitely a spot that is worth going to more so than the spots on the main streets given the price point and food. Hefty wine pour for 8$ when it’s happy hour

Google
Review for Lafayette Steak House, Miami My wife and I kicked off our date night at Lafayette around 7:30, just in time for happy hour, and we were immediately captivated by the restaurant's ambiance. The decor transported us back to a 1920s speakeasy, complete with ornate floral arrangements, vintage paintings, and a charming baby grand piano near the bar. The drink selection was impressive, featuring an array of wines and mixed drinks at very reasonable prices. We also indulged in a variety of appetizers that were nothing short of spectacular. The hamburger sliders were incredibly delicious, and the tuna tartare topped with caviar was a standout dish. After enjoying our time at the bar, we moved to a table, where the impeccable service continued. The staff was professional and attentive, enhancing our dining experience. For our main courses, we ordered the filet mignon and the bronzino. The bronzino was cooked to perfection—light, flaky, and simply melted in the mouth. The filet mignon was tender with a delightful light crust; it was truly on another level—Chef’s kiss! We also tried the macaroni and cheese, which was excellent, adding to our overall enjoyment. Both my wife and I found our experience to be beyond our expectations. I highly recommend Lafayette Steak House, even if you're on a budget. The happy hour offers fantastic value, allowing you to enjoy a great meal with equally great drinks. Five stars!

Yelp
I highly recommend the new Lafayette Steakhouse in the old El Tucan spot in Brickell. This two story steakhouse has a sophisticated old school 1940s Hollywood interior design that brings style and class. From the minute you walk in, you feel classic vibe surround the chic decor. More importantly, the food is top notch! We ordered the tuna tartare for an appetizer and is we by far the best I've ever had. In fact it was so good we ordered two! The Sea Bass and Skirt steak with fries and broccoli was the entree and both were perfectly cooked and perfection. To cap it off, we had the cookie and the strawberry cheesecake, which was one of the best I've ever had. The service was very attentive and very quick to attend to our needs. Glad to have Lafayette as a great addition to the Brickell dining scene!

Yelp
I was very excited to try Lafayette Steakhouse Miami. The pictures looked beautiful and the entire booking process made it feel very upscale and nice. We dined on a Thursday night, relatively early. When we arrived we were greeted by the hostess and promptly seated. The restaurant is very pretty and has a very sexy vibe. It is dark and there is jazzy music playing. As the evening progressed there was live piano music. The service was good and everyone was attentive and helpful. The server made several recommendations from drinks to food options. The tuna tartare appetizer was delicious however, it was very small. Their bread and butter were delicious however small and it came with a cost. For dinner I ordered the veal chop. It was also small as well as overcooked. I had requested medium and it was definitely well done. For dessert we had the apple dessert and the chocolate and peanut butter dessert. The presentation was nice but the taste was average. All in all the experience was nice. The prices were on the high side for what we ate. I also found that they had many requests of the guest but they were not really enforced. They request men wear jackets or dress shirts and there were several people without jackets and wearing casual Shirts and slacks. I probably would not return to dinner here. Miami has excellent restaurants at a much lower price point.

Yelp
Dined here on wednesday night, and had a superb experience. Yes, the restaurant is expensive (hello, Miami) but they definitely make it worth your while with the experience. Everything we tried was delicious, and the service from everyone (and I truly mean everyone) was top notch and super attentive. While some other "hip" Miami restaurants are purposely rude to make themselves appear exclusive, the staff at Lafayette was amazing, kind and polite at all times. Anthony was an wonderful waiter and had great recommendations. We tried a lot of dishes, among our favorite were the beef carpaccio, the fried chicken, seabass, and creamed corn.
