"Sometimes we can’t stop thinking about certain kinds of food until we’ve eaten them - like onion rings, deep dish, or a greasy cheeseburger. And now we can add Landbirds’ fantastic chicken wings to that list. Landbirds is a small BYOB spot in Logan Square with a short menu focused on Korean lollipop-style wings. They’re twice-fried, tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce, and come with a small mound of jasmine rice that helps balance out the heat. This place doesn’t have a ton of atmosphere - just a few small tables and metal chairs - but we’re okay with that. They could sell their wings out of a walk-up window and we’d come in the middle of February to eat them. It’s a perfect spot for a quick meal before going out in the neighborhood, or to pick up a party tray for the Bears game. Thankfully the food here is much more consistent than our quarterback situation. Food Rundown Tiger Chicken Wings The wings here are meaty and crispy, and come in four spice levels - mild, medium, tiger, and spicy tiger. Our favorite is the tiger, which balances heat and sweet perfectly. Make sure to get an extra cup of sauce to pour over the jasmine rice. Musubi Rice Besides the wings, this is the only other entree on the menu. It’s fried rice made with diced spam, kimchi, and a little bit of the wing sauce mixed in. It’s very tasty but not essential - get an order for the table if you’re here with a group, but otherwise, focus your attention on the wings." - Josh Barnett

"Landbirds is a casual counter-service spot that’s ideal for a quick meal involving delicious Korean lollipop chicken wings and rice. The wings are twice-fried, crispy, and drizzled in a gingery sauce that’s sweet and not too sticky. This place also has fantastic musubi rice made with spam, kimchi, and wing sauce. Other great things about this place: they’re BYOB, and they have an outdoor patio too." - adrian kane

There are four heat levels to choose from, but even the spiciest wings have a lot of flavor beyond just “hot.” This place also has fantastic musubi rice made with spam, kimchi, and wing sauce, which needs to be a part of your order, whether as a side or a meal of its own." - adrian kane

These wings are so delicious! The mild sauce is the best balance of sweet and spicy. The wings are quality and prepared perfectly. I've been twice now and has been consistently good. Get the honey potato chips. They are so good. This place is BYOB so remember to grab drinks but they also have cans and bottles of soda and juices. I would recommend coming in earlier than close time so you don't risk selling out of chicken. So glad we have a place like this I the neighborhood.

First time at Landbirds and I loved it! The tiger chicken wings were everything...perfect with the rice. We tried the medium and tiger spice flavored wings. Just the right amount of spice, and you have to pour a little of the sauce over the rice. Very bomb. The owner and staff were really nice too. Chill atmosphere. I will definitely be back. Thanks Landbirds! (Keep your responses coming. Lol) #theblackfoodist

The weirdest part of our experience was the owner? or whoever was working the cash register. Since it was our first time there we had questions (i.e. what kind of sauce is it? how does the spice level compare to other hot sauces? how big is the musubi rice?) We had general questions so we would know how much to order & since there were a couple people in our party who can't handle spice, we wanted to know how the spice level compares to say sriracha or tabasco & his answer was "its all subjective, depends on the acidity levels of each base...", like we get it, you have hot sauce knowledge but I just want to know if its spicer than average so I know what level to order so I can actually enjoy my food. He wasn't very helpful with any answers nor was he friendly. The kitchen staff though - SUPER friendly. Space is super small but cute. Street parking only. They also don't have any cups for water or tap water available (so bring your own or buy a smart water for $4). They serve lollipop wings with four different spice levels (Mild, Medium, Tiger, Spicy Tiger). We had the mild & tiger. The sauce is a sweet, salty garlic. It's perfect with rice. The chicken is fried perfectly crispy on the outside & moist on the inside. We also had the musubi rice ($10). They had the perfect ratio of kimchi & spam in there. It is a bit pricy for wings & rice though. We ordered half a tray (36 wings), musubi rice & a coke costing us about $85.

I came to check out this place with a friend who lives close by. Very unassuming building, owner was friendly. So, the food was good but the prices and options make it a tough sell for me. For six little chicken drumettes and a side of rice it's almost $12, I can go to Crisp and get half a chicken for $10. The other thing is options, it's either you get the chicken or spam musubi, that's it. You have no sides or other food options, so I hope you really want chicken. Definitely worth trying once but for me I probably won't go back.

This is a solid 5 star Korean lollipop wing shop, as long as your expectations are aligned. 1. They basically only sell lollipop wings 2. They are not cheap, they are very high quality 3. They are not like Crisp. The wings are very crispy (even after a 10 min bike ride home), but the sauce is very light. 4. The spice chart is very generous. "Spicy" is what I would call medium. I'm not one for crazy heat either. 5. Staff is super awesome and friendly. 6. Wings come with a plastic glove to protect your hand, this is unnecessary, but also so freaking awesome. I will be back.

You are reminded of Korean fried chicken (Kkanpunggi or 깐풍기) as you dive into these chicken. It might be one of the best chicken place I have visited in the last few years. If you like Koream fried chicken, don't bother with Bon Chon and make your way to Landbirds!

Very casual, chill. Tiger is not spicy at all. Ordered 12, thought I could save 6 for the next day, but it stayed as a thought. They pull out one of the bones in the middle section, and make it looks like a third section. Make it super easy to eat. I like it!

Found this restaurant when we were looking for somewhere to go in Logan square, and honestly once we read the owner's awesome responses to some of the insane reviews on here, we had to go in. The wings were PHENOMENAL. Some of the best I've ever had. Spicy Tiger was just right. Try eating 4 in a row without taking a break. We also had the rice entree which we gobbled up num num num. I had a bottled Coke and my girlfriend had a pear drink which she said cooled down her hot mouth well. And we had a great chat with the owner, who is super friendly and will serve you some dang tasty food.
