The Hottest New Restaurants in Boston Right Now

"Hand-pulled noodles are the ticket at Lanner, and you can find them in several forms, including cozy tomato-and-egg noodles and a rich Lanzhou beef noodle soup — a soul-satisfying dish that is close to co-owner Sean Xiao’s heart. Round out the meal with plates of sticky sweet and sour spareribs, barbecued lamb skewers, and bites of pepper chicken spiked with Sichuan peppercorns." - Erika Adams, Nathan Tavares

Lanner Noodles & Bar is a hidden gem! This was my first time here but my friends have been here many times before, and I can definitely see why they keep coming back. The food is absolutely delicious - so flavorful and yummy. We tried the skewers, a variety of noodles, and the cauliflower, and everything was fantastic. The service was also great - friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Lanner Noodles & Bar, and I will definitely be back again and again!

Went here on a Friday evening and there was not much of a wait. The restaurant does feel cozy as the tables are close together that you can comfortably hear the conversations of the table next to you. The service was quick and waters were never empty, our order was taken immediately after being sat and came out shortly after. We tried two small plates, the spicy oil seaweed and the spicy marinated black wood ear. They have a similar palate and if I could only chose one I would have picked the wood ear mushrooms. My friend had the hand pull beef noodles and I tried the lamb shank noodle soup which appears to be new. The soups were plentiful in size and we both left full, however I did notice a lack of meat in proportion to the noodles. Overall tasty, but next time I would try something different from the lamb shank noodle soup.

The featured dish: beef hand-pulled noodle dish is solid. Broth is light and delicious and the noodles I almost don’t believe that it’s hand-pulled because it’s so fine and consistent. And I could actually taste the noodles’ flavor unlike other noodles that feels like it’s flour-y or just present for texture. I also tried the fried noodles, which apparently aren’t hand-pulled noodles but the texture felt the same as the beef noodle soup to me. However it was enjoyable. Fried mushrooms were great too. Nice crispy accompaniment to the soupy and dry noodles. Atmosphere was very nice. Service was good. The main criticism is that the amount of meat in the noodle dishes left to be desired.

Google
Absolutely delicious! We especially loved the hand pulled noodle soup, cabbage, and fried mushrooms. We will definitely be coming back to try other things - the ribs, skewers, and chicken bites all looked great too. There are a bunch of other noodles we want to try too. Overall everything was tasty and very reasonably priced. A new go to noodle spot for us.

Good for a western palate looking for more authentic styled Chinese dishes in a hip setting, open relatively late, caters to young adult/college crowd. Okay for a Chinese person, but you can find more authentic other places. The hand pulled noodles don’t really stand out as hand pulled- I would have thought they were machine made due to how thin and uniform they were. The beef noodle soup is okay- not fantastic if you’re looking for lanzhou or taiwan style, it’s like a fusion take on it- the broth is not flavored from beef, rather it is favored using aromatics that reminded me a bit of Vietnamese broths (green onion, cilantro, perhaps lemongrass, and chili oil) but it lacked depth of a really good beef broth. The slices of beef were too thin and dry, they’re the type of slices you normally eat on a cold appetizer, added like a garnish on top of the noodles rather than beef that has been stewing in the broth for hours and melts in your mouth. The cabbage dish was very good. The large chicken plate was good but far too salty for my taste, even with rice. The dessert was very yummy, has an interesting date glaze- a bit sweeter than I prefer but not too sweet for a western palate. Everything is yummy, and likely the stronger and saltier flavor profile most Westerners prefer, just not the most authentic for someone looking for authentic Chinese food.

Great noodle place to grab a bite! Love the flavor profile! Edit 1: Had the chicken topped noodles. Great if you can tolerate spice! Also love the golden chicken nuggets, they use a light batter and a mala seasoning that I can't get enough of! Edit 2: Dinner with friends, super busy place! Strongly recommend using the wait-list system. I got the stir fried noodles with pork and shared a couple of appetizers. All the wait staff are amazing! Special shout-out to Anna!

Google
Food is pretty good but salty. The cold tossed cucumbers were very bland and we had to add chili oil and vinegar to liven it up. The soup noodles have a rich broth but it gets salty by the second half of the bowl. Noodles are properly long (arm length) but could use a little more chew. The beef slices are tender but not particularly flavorful. The lamb skewers are a good mix of meat and fat. The hand torn cabbage is an excellent plate to share with groups.

Google
Newly opened authentic Chinese noodles! Love their Lanzhou noodles, it’s pretty good compared to most Chinese noodle places. I think they handmade the noodles so it tastes different and more authentic. The fried oyster mushrooms is good too. The dessert 鸡蛋醪糟 is not bad. The previous restaurant is a Tibetan Place, the location is a little bit hard to find, hope the last two photos help! (Jan 21st 2024)

Yelp
Really great food and awesome service! Walked in way too late on a Friday night and they went above and beyond to get us a meal. The great: Oyster Mushroom Tempura (I would have eaten nothing but this and been thrilled tbh) Chicken Skewers Tofu Pan Noodles The really good: Stir Fried Cabbage Other Chicken Noodles The definitely will go back and try: Given the above, the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Was around the area picking up dinner for wifey but I wanted soup noodles and this has been on my list for a while. I tried ordering online, but no success so tried calling... no success but walked in and was able to order in person without any issues. If there was a way to order ahead, it would've saved me the extra 10 minute wait but it's ok not a big deal. One thing you can do online is join the waitlist. On a Monday, there wasn't a wait but I can imagine there's a wait on the weekend. Onto the food, I got the braised beef noodle. It was solid. The broth was clear and wasn't overly heavy, with a hint of spice. If you are not a fan of schezuan peppercorns then this isn't for you. It wasn't a lot to get the numbing effect but you can taste it with every bite. The noodles were good but probably would've been better fresh. The package it was in was space efficient although took me a few minutes to get everything assembled.

Yelp
Moved to Cambridge two weeks ago and we have already been twice. Beef Noodle Soup is one of my go to soups, and this will be my go to spot. They are always so quick and for $14 I find the amount of beef: noodle ratio perfect. The cucumber salad is really refreshing but what stood out to us was the summer squash. It had this light and citrus mayo on top of light fried(probably tempura) squash. It was chefs kiss. If you ever are in Cambridge, you need to try this!

Yelp
Great meal with fantastic food, good service, and an overall great time! We came here early on a Sunday for lunch and ended up having to wait as there was a carbon monoxide issue. We waited a few minutes as the place hadn't properly opened and the line wasn't too bad, so we were lucky to get a table when they finally let people back in and the issue resolved itself. The ambiance was pleasant - nice decor and cozy vibes. I do think the tables were a bit too close together so it felt very cramped, but in general it didn't feel too bad and didn't impact the meal much. The menu has a good mix of different dishes to either share or eat individually. We ended up getting three things for the two of us and the portions were very fair so we left feeling pretty full. I was a fan of everything we tried honestly so I would recommend getting the mushroom bites, the chicken dish, and the beef noodles to try for sure - all yummy with good flavor and nice portions! The chicken dish was surprising in its nice size and the spicy flavors - definitely don't get it if you're not a fan of spice! Service was pretty good with ordering and waters. We felt properly served and things came out at a good pace so we didn't feel rushed or like we were waiting for too long. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back to try their other noodle dishes. They also didn't have the dessert option we wanted which was a shame so I'll definitely want to return to try it next time!

Yelp
Service was fast, ambiance was pretty simple and elegant, food was good. Like other patrons mentioned, it's a lot of noodles with maybe a couple nuggets of meat. Would come again, but ratio of my dish was a little off.

Yelp
The noodle dishes here leave a great deal to be desired. They give you plenty of noodles for their noodle dishes, however, if you order any noodles with beef or brisket, they are stingy with their meats. The braised brisket noodle soup got 4 little brisket lean nuggets and the hand-pulled beef noodles got 4 thin slices and a boatload of noodles. As for the noodles, I liked the thin noodles versus the thick ones I got. They were both bouncy and chewy, I prefer the thin textured ones. The apps were better. I enjoyed the lamb skewers the most, it's seasoned well, wasn't gamey and the meat was not all lean and had some fatty parts to it. All in all, I wouldn't have missed out on much if I hadn't come here. The food wasn't living up to the hype. I will say that, for my tomato and egg noodles, the addition of wood ear was new. I had never seen or would have thought to add wood ear mushrooms to my tomato and eggs. It didn't enhance my dish in any way, so it didn't bother me that it was there but even if it wasn't I wouldn't miss it either.

Yelp
First off, the waitlist system was quite inefficient, with inaccurate estimations. we were running 5 minutes late and could not contact the restaurant (as they were not picking up the phone). once we finally got in, despite checking in and following the waitlist times, it was another 20 minute wait. the food itself was quite average--not worth the hype and hassle to get a table. however, the main reason for this 1 star review lies in the food safety. we did not see any mention of nuts on the menu, so we assumed that the food would be safe. however, without any indication (the chili oil did not taste nutty in the slightest), the chili oil ended up having peanuts. one of us in the party started to have a severe allergic reaction. when i asked the waitstaff, despite seeing me clearly overwhelmed, her only responde was to ask me condescendingly why I did not mention the nut allergy. we are typically careful to ask about nuts, but we slipped up this time because the menu gave absolutely no indication of the allergen. we believe that although we COULD have asked, it is just as much of the restaurant's responsibility to list them if they could be unexpected, or at least not handle the situation so rudely during a potentially life threatening emergency.

Yelp
I've been keen to try Lanner for months since I first saw it on my IG feed. There's so many new (good!) restaurants in the Harvard/Central area now, and I actually didn't realise Lanner took the same spot by the now-closed Rangzen Tibetan restaurant. My friends and I showed up around 12 on a Sunday - it was pretty busy already (they open at 11h30) but there was a table open for us. While we were eating, there was a bit of a queue throughout (maybe 2-3 tables waiting), so there might be a bit of a wait if you come later, but nothing too lengthy, I'd think. (I think there is a waitlist on their website that you can join in advance.) I ordered the braised beef noodles (紅燒牛肉麵), which was pretty good! The broth was very fragrant and decently spicy (there is some chilli oil on the table if it's not enough haha). The noodles were very yummy, well-cooked to a good chewiness, and portion size was very filling. The beef was not bad - pretty tender and flavourful - but there was not much (as in, a very skimpy amount of meat). My friend had the hand-pulled beef noodles (蘭州牛肉麵) which was also really yunny: tender beef, rich broth, and plenty of delicious noodles, too. Overall a very solid meal, and price point (~$17-18pp in total) was quite reasonable. I don't think the area has had a good Lanzhou noodle restaurant since Fresh in Allston closed down a few years ago, so I'm very glad that something has taken its place now :) I'd love to come again to try some other noodle options + side dishes (the skewers looked and smelled so yummy haha).

Yelp
This place was crazy busy when it first opened but I think it's calmed down now. We ordered the hand pulled beef noodles, spicy marinated wood ear, and the large platter cauliflower. everything was SO good! The soup noodle portion sizes were massive, it was super filling. The broth was so flavorful and warm, and the cauliflower and wood ear were surprisingly good! The cauliflower has such great, garlicky flavors. It was probably my favorite tbh. I'd def come back here to get another bowl of noodles and try some diff apps!

Yelp
Best noodles I've had in Cambridge! Located conveniently right near the Central MBTA stop, Lanner Noodles is a deceptively large restaurant serving excellent food. The wait during the dinner rush was about 15-20 minutes, so would recommend joining the waitlist managed online. It took the waiter a little bit of time to take our order, but understandable given the hustle and bustle. I ordered the chicken topped noodles, as well as lamb skewers to share, and was delighted by both. The noodles are nice and chewy and I really enjoyed the spicy, flavorful sauce used for the chicken. The lamb skewers had the perfect texture and had a mild cumin flavor. Overall, very impressed and will be back!

Yelp
I casually stumbled upon this restaurant, and I'm pleasantly surprised! They specialize in hand pulled noodles, and I very much enjoyed it! We got the braised beef noodles (flavorful, slight kick not spicy though) and the fried noodles (also delicious)! The only mediocre thing we ordered was the golden chicken nuggets (wished there was more flavor in the seasoning). Overall, service was good and the food came out timely! I will be back!

Yelp
First time and the food was amazing! I got the hand pulled beef noodle soup and it had the right amount of food. I wished there were more beef though. Service was quick and we got our food fast.

Yelp
Okay, so did it feel like the servers here wanted us OUT even though the place wasn't even full? Yes. And was there not enough beef in the hand pulled noodle soup? Yes. HOWEVER, I LOOK PAST ALL OF THAT TO THE CABBAGE. Lanner offers a big ole plate of cabbage as one of their 'big plate' options, and I am telling y'all... if you like cabbage, you need to get your hands on this. Like, SO delicious and strongly seasoned and packed full of garlic. My friends and I all agreed that we'd come here just to get a plate of that cabbage to go and eat it with some rice at home, like, it is THAT girl. I also ordered the stir fried noodles, which I actually loved as well. I thought it was a hefty portion and tasted great. I appreciated that it was filled with stuff, and I was extremely happy with it. In conclusion, get the cabbage. If I can do anything in this review, it's turn as many people on to that cabbage as possible.

Yelp
Good food, fast service, and reasonable prices. We tried the braised beef noodles, cauliflower platter, cold tossed cucumber, and mushroom crisp bites, and all of the food was authentic and well-portioned. For the braised beef noodles: noodles were fresh, tender, and delicious, but beware the broth has a bit of a spicy kick to it. I am not very good at handling spice, so found it very noticeable when trying the soup alone, but my dining companion who loves spice didn't even notice it at first, so your mileage may vary. For the cauliflower platter: this was both of ours' favorite dish. The flavor is savory and filling, without being greasy or heavy. There were also chunks of pork in it which we found a pleasant surprise, but vegetarian/vegan folks will need to specify that they would like their dish made without. For the cold tossed cucumber: it was exactly the kind of garlick-y goodness you would expect to get in a classic Chinese meal. Came out super fast and was a refreshing start to our meal. For the mushroom crisp bites: not anything special. Could not really taste the mushroom so it was really just crispy fried dough. Will skip next time. Overall, this isn't a new favorite or go-to of mine in the neighborhood, but I would come back again to try some more of their dishes. It has the vibe of a busy and bustling new neighborhood joint, so a good place to go with friends, family, or a chill date night.

Elena J.

Yelp
4.5/5 Good price point and delicious food. The hand-pulled noodles had the firm chew that I was craving and I would definitely get this again! The beef was a leaner cut so it wasn't as tender as I was hoping for. The pepper chicken I would skip next time - nothing memorable and only had a few larger pieces of chicken. Since this restaurant is still relatively new, their waitlist on weekends can be up to 50+ parties, and the estimated wait time can be inaccurate, as many parties leave the waitlist.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious cabbage!!! Best thing we got Noodle soup w braised beef was yummy - noodles were perfect, soup had great flavor, but they gave like 3 pieces of meat so kinda not worth it Overall would return for the noodles n cabbage!

Yelp
Sooo...I don't get the hype. Sorry. Cute little spot, because it's new I imagine that's why the wait was pretty long. There's a QR code you scan at the door to join the wait list upon arrival. Staff was friendly and attentive. The place itself is very cute, small, but nicely decorated. The food aesthetically looks very fresh and appetizing. The noodles are very chewy and definitely can tell it's fresh. However the food is SOOOO lacking in flavor. It was the greatest disappointment when the food hit my mouth. Literally it tasted like.....nothing. I felt as if I had Covid or something. Not worth the price for me in the end. We didn't even finish our food. Left and ate something else and confirmed that my tastebuds were intact.

Yelp
The lanzhou noodles are SO good! The beef broth is rich and flavorful (without being excessively salty), the beef slices are tender, and the noodles are bouncy. I also got the chicken nuggets and seaweed salad to share. The nuggets are not what you expect; they are crispy without feeling greasy. Very nice! And the seaweed salad has great texture and bite to it. I recommend everything I tried! Only reason for -1 star is because of the wait times. I had put my name down on the waitlist, but the time kept changing for our party. So it was hard to know when exactly we'd get seated. But once we got seated, the food came quickly! I'm sure the management just needs to work out some kinks--it doesn't majorly distract from this awesome food! It does get crowded and busy, and the vibe is lively.
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
Came right when it opened, and it got crowded very quickly! Interior is dark and sleek wooden vibes Food took a bit of time to come but prob bc we were hungry and impatient haha Rly liked the food! Wish there had been a bit more beef but there was plenty of noodles and plenty of broth. The broth was nice warm and savory w good amount of chili oil. Scallion was very fragrant. The beef was very tender. And the noodles were the perfect level of firm but chewy and bouncy. Best noodles I've had in a while! left feeling warm and full of broth :) And reasonably priced at $14 pre tip and tax
google avatar

Megan Y.

Yelp
Mixed thoughts here, love seeing a Lanzhou noodle place out here in Boston, and the service was super nice, but my one issue is that it was pretty heavy on the sodium (msg?) as I was EXTREMELY thirsty afterwards which is pretty rare for me. We got the cucumber salad, golden chicken nuggets and the hand pulled noodle soup. Pros: the chicken was really good! Not greasy at all, but there were quite a few bits that were mostly batter. Would still order again. The beef in the noodle soup was super tender and flavorful. Cons: I wish the noodles were a bit thicker/more al dente and like I mentioned less salty. Overall I'd definitely come back to try more dishes! Dont forget to add your name on the wait list beforehand as our wait was about an hour fifteen on a Sunday night.
google avatar

Lani L.

Yelp
I have been a few times since this place opened, and a lot of the time it was super crowded with a long wait. Depending on how crowded it is, or who happens to be on shift, the service varies, but the inside is clean and well-furbished regardless. I think all of the noodles are hand-pulled, though I was confused because only one said "hand-pulled"? The textures are great in all of the noodles I've tried. I'm not a huge fan of the chili oil (I think there is a particular spice that isn't common in other chili oils but I can't identify,,,) Must order Hand-pulled beef noodles: classic done right, very soothing and flavorful Braised beef noodles: the broth is actually different from the above - the beef is generous in portion size and super tender Cauliflower: ideal. veg was cooked just right, with pork and aromatics to complement, and depth from the seasoning brought through Just ok "Big" plate chicken: great flavors, but it was much more brothy than plate-y... you have to add $$ to get the noodles, although the dish should traditionally come with. It's wide noodle, though, which was nice Sweet and sour pork ribs: the portion seemed a bit small for the price, and I found the texture a bit on the tougher side, but the sweet and sour and savory balanced ok Maybe not Mushroom Crisp Bites: considering it's a specialty of theirs, I was very disappointed. The mushrooms were very small (they probably shrunk because of how they were washed/handled), and there was too much coating/breading, which felt quite greasy. I'm hoping this is just a mistake in the kitchen the one time...

Yelp
Went to check out the new hand pulled noodles place since it's been popping up a lot on instagram recently. Went in with high expectations but my experience was very mediocre. First, we had a long wait for about 40/45 minutes on a Wednesday night. The menu was pretty straight forward. We ordered two small plates- pepper chicken and lamb skewers, and ordered a noodle dish each. I understand they are pretty busy and it's still in the soft opening phase but the timing the dishes came out was odd. We got the pork topped noodles(not pictured) my partner ordered for the main first, then the first pepper chicken appetizer and after like 10/15minutes wait my hand-pulled beef noodles came out and the lamb skewers last. I would want the appetizers to come out first and then noodle dishes (wouldn't mind the wait then). Pork topped noodles was a regular stir fried noodle dish with pork and peppers. Food itself in my opinion was pretty mediocre (nothing remarkable for the wait). The noodle soup was a bit more peppery and there were only like four small pieces of beef. It's not worth the wait. The staff and service was good though! - 2.5/5
google avatar

Malina N.

Yelp
Lanner has become one of the most popular spots for their authentic hand-pulled Lanzhou noodles in a rich beef bone broth and topped with tender beef slices It truly was a must-try menu item that competed with their juicy, perfectly flavored lamb skewers as our favorite (both 10/10 fully recommend‼). Their noodles and large dishes were affordably priced at $12-14 and were enough to serve 2-3 people so it's definitely worth eating with a group to try out more of their dishes Even their smaller dishes had great portions! Pro-tip: Go to their Google Maps currently named "Lander Noodles&Bar" to join their online waitlist ahead of time as there usually is a 40-70min wait during dinner rush hours‼

Yelp
Overall: the hype was definitely worth it! Great price point in a bustling part of Cambridge that doesn't skimp on the quality or portions. Food: we got dry and soup noodles to get a variety and both were outstanding. The soup was a traditional style light clean broth that brings you to a serene state of mind. Then once you take a bite of the flavorful beef you're transported to a world bursting with flavor. When eating the noodles you feel the chewiness of the hand drawn noodles and realize you've had a perfect bowl of noodles. The dry noodles were more of a stir fried vegetables with noodles experience but the pork and bell peppers were extremely well prepared. Ambience/Decor/Service: the waiter funnily enough thought I could speak Chinese well enough to order (not the case). It was just a bit jarring because he didn't looking Chinese whatsoever so I was taken aback initially but he was super kind and well versed with the menu. The ambience was cozy and a good use of the space without feeling too cramped. The decor was very simple almost Buddhist like without any art or designs anywhere.

Yelp
My group of 7 put down our names around 7pm on a Sunday and were seated around 8:30pm. The waiting area is super tiny but luckily there are a lot of places nearby where you can get some shopping done while you wait for them to call you. We decided to each get our own noodle soup and split some small plates. Pepper chicken ($9): not oily at all with a fragrant pepper flavor. The dish was sufficiently salty and the chicken was succulent. I would get this again! Spicy marinated black wood ear ($7): the marinade was vinegary and tangy but the overall taste was pretty simple and there wasn't too much going on. My group was full of people who like wood ear mushrooms so we enjoyed this dish, but it didn't particularly stand out among the other dishes. Golden chicken nuggets ($9): this kind of tasted like popcorn chicken but with a slightly different, crunchier breading. If trying to get a chicken appetizer, I would recommend getting the pepper chicken instead because I thought it was much more flavorful. Lamb skewers ($13 for 3): this was the best dish! The lamb was so tender and smoky. Each skewer was sprinkled with a bunch of fragrant seasoning (I tasted a lot of cumin and chili pepper). Hand-torn cabbage ($14): the cabbage was stir fried with lots of garlic and dried peppers which gave the dish a lot of savory flavor. This was my second favorite dish that I tried! I got to try both the hand-pulled beef noodles and the braised beef noodles, both of which were $14 and used the same noodles. I thought the noodles were prepared very well! They were perfectly chewy and also very long. The broth was different between the two dishes, where the braised beef noodles had a slightly sweeter broth. I could taste the daikon in the broth of the hand-pulled beef noodles, which added a subtle sweetness and an earthier taste. While the beef was different between the two noodle soups, both had very tender beef. If you can handle the spiciness of hot Cheetos and Shin ramen, then you will likely not find anything spicy here. They include chili oil at the table but it didn't add too much additional spice. I think this is a great addition to Central square and the prices are very reasonable! I could easily just order a bowl of noodle soup and be very satisfied.

Yelp
Food was fantastic but we ordered two entrees and left after only receiving one. About 15 minutes after receiving our first bowl, we asked about the second (the waiter never checked in proactively). He said he had no idea what was going on and would check. In the meantime, we saw several people who ordered after us receive their meals. We asked about ordering something else but was told that would take even longer. We ended up leaving having shared a single bowl between the two of us.

Yelp
We went to the soft opening of Lanner on a cold January night and found it was packed. We could see steam radiating from each table and the smells were intoxicating. It only took us a minute to get a table though and we were seated in the middle of the restaurant. We wanted to try a variety of dishes because everything sounded great. Since it was freezing out, we tried two of their beef noodle soups that came with handmade noodles. Both were fantastic and the noodles had great texture and chew. We also tried the lamb skewers, wood ear salad and spicy cold chicken appetizer- all of which were delicious. The lamb stew that came afterwards was immensely deep in flavor and the lamb basically fell off the bone. We loved it so much that we packed the rest of the broth to eat with noodles the next day! The service was great throughout, you couldn't tell that they were still in soft opening mode. I am very excited to return in the future after the grand opening!

Yelp
Really lovely ambiance and interior decor! The restaurant was a bit busy for lunch and the order of our food came out a bit disorganized - had to ask for one of the noodles. Everything is a bit pricey but the flavors of every dish seemed on point and well spiced! Will be back in the future! We quite enjoyed the pepper chicken which features tender chicken with numbing Sichuan peppercorn and fresh aromatics. The mushroom crisp bites were very crispy and had a lightly spiced seasoning (also sort of reminiscent of fish). Both noodle dishes seemed to have long, chewy hand pulled noodles (a LOT of it too) and a flavorful soup. The braised beef noodle soup was honestly too salty but went well with the tender beef and abundance of noodle. The soup noodles were both super filling because of the noodles.

Yelp
Very crowded, so join the Yelp waitlist early on! Once we were seated, food came fairly quick and was delicious.

Yelp
Excellent taste and value! I was very pleased with the portion. Love the concise menu. Small space inside and very popular (even on Thursday evening) so get onto the online waitlist. Even after being told our table was ready we had to wait another 10-15 min to be seated. Very difficult to find parking around the area.

Yelp
I just went with my friends today. The restaurant is only in its soft opening phase and it isn't even on Google Maps yet, but this place is busy! I recommend coming early, to avoid the rush. The noodles have that chewy, QQ texture that folks like, the prices are reasonable, and the bowls are flavorful. They give you smaller bowls to begin with, so if you're in a large group, you could order multiple things to share! I really enjoyed the braised beef noodles and the hand pulled noodles that my partner and I ordered. We plan to be back soon, to try out more of the menu!

Yelp
Their pulled noodles are actually as good as the ones I've had in China. Broth is also very flavorful and delicious, but a bit oily from the chili oil. Their lamb skewers were also super tender and loved the cumin spices. Service was friendly, quick and helpful. Will definitely be back to try their other noodles & dishes.

Yelp
I'll give this place 4 stars for potential, but 3 stars for our experience today with takeout. Lanner is brand new in town, and so I had high hopes. They seem to have pretty authentic food and decent portions, but some aspects were a bit lacking. First and foremost, this place is NOT very vegan friendly. The staff informed me that all the vegetable dishes in the bottom right of the menu (3 total) can be made vegan. However the cauliflower has pork if unmodified. Both the pan fried tofu and cauliflower are spicy, especially the tofu. This was not mentioned in the menu, but thankfully we could handle the spice after taking out a mountain of jalapeños from the tofu. They also messed up our order and included meat in the cauliflower even after several confirmations that we wanted it vegan. In terms of flavor, the tofu was nothing special. Simple and reminiscent of home cooked food. Not too much oil, so that was nice at least. The cauliflower was very much enjoyed by my non vegan partner, so if you can eat meat, I would definitely try it. We also ordered the braised beef noodles. These were rated a 2 or 3. Granted we got it take out, so perhaps the restaurant experience may be different, but the broth was reported as underwhelming and there was very little beef. I won't comment on the noodles too much because takeout is not a great representation of that, but we would still not recommend that dish. Perhaps their meat entrees will be better, but we have no urges to try them now. Also the restaurant smells like fresh paint still, which is the reason we did takeout in the first place. So I would wait a few weeks maybe for the air to clear out a bit more and for them to get a handle on the crowds. All in all, I do want to try the cauliflower (made vegan) since my partner liked it so much, but other then that I can't say I can strongly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
This place recently opened up and can have a long line due to the excitement over a new Asian restaurant in the Boston area. We waited around 20 minutes on a Wednesday night. The braised beef noodle soup was so good and the soup was so hearty. The place is also a little bit small since the tables are all cramped together. On Google, the place was unfortunately named wrong and it's call Lander Noodles.

Yelp
New little noodle shop tucked in the corner of Central Square where the old Tibetan restaurant used to be. The space itself is old (if you know you know) and possibly because it's new it still has that clean feel - to the point where the restaurant hasn't seemed to really cut their teeth yet. We came in on a casual Saturday and didn't have to wait for a table for two. The small place was mostly full and there was a steady amount of take out folks going in and out so these guys were really cookin'. We got the braised beef noodles and the pork noodles. Both were tasty, wonderfully spicy, definitely have the hand pulled quality to the noodles, albeit a little small on the quantity front. The pork noodles were dry and had a very south-western China flavor. Interestingly the braised beef noodles were soupy but had a much more distinct north-western China flavor! The sort of 'jumpy-spicy' you'd typically find with cuisine in that region. Overall great lunch spot if you're in the area and need a Chinese-local noodle fix. Nothing outstanding, not too pricey, small menu dedicated to noodles. Hope they can thrive in the ever-changing Central square landscape!

Yelp
We came to the restaurant on a Saturday night and was super busy and popular. With 30 parties ahead of us, we waited about an hour to get seated. So it seems like people go in and out relatively quickly. We got a bunch of appetizers- the cabbage, the wood ear mushrooms, and the pepper chicken. The cabbage was the stand out as the table's clear favorite- It had that nice smoky, charred flavor as well as a bit of acidity and a little bit of spice. We devoured that plate so quickly. The other appetizers were pretty solid too. As for the noodles, I got the braised beef noodles which I really enjoyed. The beef was so tender and the soup was warm and flavorful with a bit of a mala (Chinese numbing spice) kick to it. The noodles themselves were just okay- I think I was expecting more of a chew to them, but they ended up breaking up pretty easily in my mouth. The soup though good, was quite salty-- so I wouldn't recommend drinking the broth directly unless you want to be like me -- chugging water for the next 3 hours. 2 weeks later, we got takeout from this place and had a similar experience with the food. The cauliflower appetizer was delicious, but the noodles were once again-just okay. This time, the beef noodle soup didn't come with ANY peppers- so the soup was ONLY "Ma"(numbing) and not "La" (spicy). Never in my life have I had anything "Mala" that was not spicy at all, so it was pretty weird. I do understand they are a new restaurant, so maybe it'll take a bit of time for them to settle into a comfortable rhythm of consistency. I'd really like to see more of that before trying this place again.

Yelp
Overall pretty tasty but service was a bit rough around the edges. Food: The noodles were nicely cooked and the broths were both really fantastic. The meats were also really tender, but the portion of the meats were really small and none of the pieces were bigger than a quarter. Service: The first table we were led to was inaccessible because the tables were so tightly spaced that we couldn't get to the bench seats without getting inappropriately close to other patrons. We had to walk to a different table because the host was gone the second he pointed us to the table. We ordered the Braised Beef Noodles and the Lanzhou Noodles and despite using the same type of pulled noodles they arrived 10-15 minutes apart. A disappointing gap specifically for noodle soups that are best eaten hot and prone to soggy noodles if you let it sit.

Yelp
~~Appetizers~~ I feel like the appetizers were better than the noodle dishes themselves. Maybe I had higher expectations since this is a noodle specialty store. Hand-torn Cabbage: Delicious. Really infused with that wok hei. This is a great dish to share with the table. Spicy Marinated Black Auricularia: Also known as wood ear. This dish was solid. Nicely marinated with a bit of spicy sauce. Pepper Chicken: This dish was pretty good as well. Solid, but not the best thing we had. ~~Noods~~ Specialty noodles and potatoes: For Chinese new year, they had a special dry noodle dish with beef and potatoes. The beef was really tender and delicious. However, the noodles just weren't good. They did not taste hand-pulled. Braised Beef Noodles: The broth was really good, and the beef was just as good as the other noodle dish I tried. Same as the previous dish, the noodles were not that good. ~~ Overall, I'm disappointed by the noodles. I was expecting them to taste more like fresh noodles, but the flavor really was not coming through. The appetizers were good and the other ingredients in the noodle dishes were good, but the noodles themselves are the most important part for me. The wait was an hour, which is too long to justify what you're getting.

Yelp
Lanner serves up great authentic noodles. Huge portions, solid noodle lineup, a simple menu (a must for me), with ample small dish options. Though we had to try the noodles, of course, I could easily see myself coming back to try more of the small plates with just plain rice. At a buck-fifty apiece, the marinated eggs were such a fun add-on you won't find elsewhere around Cambridge, and the short ribs were full of dark, sweet flavor. They did surprisingly well with the small store space; beautiful ceilings and open seating, soft lighting and beautiful details. The beef broth was rich and deep in flavor, the beef was tender, and noodles were perfectly chewy. It seemed like a really popular spot for lunch on the weekend, and glad to see that the neighborhood is giving it love! The staff were welcoming, friendly, eager to chat about the menu.

Yelp
So happy I found a go to noodle restaurant in Cambridge! Decor is very clean, very modern - definitely pretty unique for a Chinese restaurant. Food itself is great. The noodles had a perfect amount of the chew and the broth was clean and flavorful at the same time. Beef was tender and well seasoned. Price is very typical for the area. Service is a bit slow but the food more than makes up for it. Wait times can be very long so go early if you can. Can't wait to go back to try more of the menu!

Yelp
SO YUMMY! Great prices, cute place, and good service. The beef noodle soup is the go to option. The cabbage& cauliflower were delicious . Staying at an Airbnb close by, and went twice this week!

Yelp
Quite a small restaurant and can be a tight squeeze for seating, but the food is good! I would recommend their hand pulled noodles, cabbage, and lamb skewers. Everything was good, but the hand pulled noodles definitely stood out. The service was also extremely fast and efficient. I would definitely come back to try more of their dishes!

Yelp
Came to get the hand-pulled beef noodles. Lanner just opened and it's already so popular. No reservations and long waits but for good reason. The noodles are very QQ (chewy & bouncy). The beef was fine, could be more tender. The portion was huge for only $14; I finished about half the noodles. Great prices all around. Random note: we were surprised how well our white server spoke Chinese lol.

Yelp
I braved a trip to Central Square on a rainy and cold Sunday to try out this very hyped new noodle restaurant and I would say it was worth it! I love good hand pulled noodles and was ecstatic when I heard Lanner Noodles was opening. The current menu is on the smaller side but offers a good selection of sides, mainly focusing on their noodles. I decided to order their Braised Beef Noodles and shared a plate of the Hand-torn Cabbage. The cabbage was honestly out of this world! It was savory, sour, and spicy and kept me coming back in for more. I never had cabbage taste this good and am inspired to try to recreate this at home. The braised beef in the noodles were also done well, it had so much flavor and melted in the mouth. The broth, which came with chili oil, was delicious and aromatic, perfect for a cold night. The only miss of the night were the noodles. They were all different thicknesses, which usually is nice knowing that they are hand pulling the noodles. However, the range of sizes were so different and inconsistent that some bites were very chewy, dense, and a bit unpleasant. Otherwise, the noodle dish would be a 10/10. In terms of service, I would be prepared to have a long wait time. As a party of 3, we waited around 45 minutes for a table in the late evening. The interior is small and you are seated close to other parties. The staff were friendly and attentive. The decor is minimal but cozy. I would definitely recommend trying Lanner, maybe when the wait time is less, if you are looking for some good noodles .

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday at around 12:30 pm. Upon arrival, I put my name on the paper list for 2 people. My contribution here is not about the food but about the waitlist and entry system. Very small waiting space for a loooong line (I had to wait like an hour?) Unfortunately, this "pencil to paper" system of putting your name down is a bit too...informal? You give your phone number, and they simply call you. I saw the hostess calling - if you don't respond to the first call, your name gets crossed off. They're just so busy (huuuuge and very long wait list) that they just want people that are able to sit right away. Honestly, incredible food in all regards - clearly authentic (I believe), fast service, very delicious food at acceptable prices in a casual but clean looking environment. I would come back 100% but ONLY if the wait time is short enough that I would just wait inside.

Yelp
The hand pulled noodles are super fresh and the highlight of this spot. I'm not sure it world be worth a one hour wait and I have endured many a long wait for restaurants. Their signature noodle, the Lanzhou beef noodle, is a straight forward quick meal. I feel the price is okay, understandable for Central Square. There is no mention of spicy chili oil on the menu, but there is a decent dose in the soup. If I had the choice, I would've opted out. I've been to a few Lanzhou beef noodle shops in China and they typically have both spicy and non spicy, and I assumed this would be the non spicy version. The space is relatively small but the tables are very wide and the chairs as well. As a result, some four person tables are used to seat two parties of two. I will return for their other dishes once the wait dies down or only go at opening time to be in the first seating. Since this is the soft opening, it seems a couple things are in the works. The glutinous rice dessert on the menu was not available yet and there is no alcohol on the menu yet.

Yelp
Pretty decent Chinese noodles in central square! All the noodles have good chewy texture, and the meat and seasonings are all quite flavorful! We enjoyed the stir fry pork noodles the best, and I enjoyed its touch of chili oil. The lamb skewers were crazy tender and flavorful as well! The golden chicken nuggets tasted like they barely had any chicken in them, but was still bursting with flavor. The service was pretty decent on a Friday night, considering they were busy and noodle dishes came out quickly (faster than appetizers). At certain points, it was difficult to flag servers down and get to the bathroom as the chairs were quite closely packed. Ambience was casual but food was slightly pricier than a hole in the wall place. Would return again if I'm craving good Chinese food close to central!

Yelp
You can expect a bit of a wait when you come, but it's well worth it. The ambiance is perfect for a casual date or catch up with friends. As for the food, I was shocked how low the prices were for entrees. Such incredible prices for the location and quality of the food. It came out quickly and fresh, and while I didn't look like much at first, it tasted phenomenal and filled me up. I will definitely be going back

Yelp
Pretty fast and yummy place for dinner. Tried the cauliflower (5/5 probably my favorite thing we got), cucumber (3/5 alright not super flavorful), chili chicken (3/5 also ok), ribs (5/5 also super delicious), hand pulled beef noodles (4/5 pretty good but nothing blowing me away), and braised beef noodles (4/5 super similar to the other noodles). Though it didn't blow me away, it was still an overall good spot for a meal with no complaints!

Yelp
The best Lanzhou noodles I've found in Boston! Service was a bit disorganized during opening week but it looks to have improved since then. I wouldn't know because I've ordered takeout since then. Other items on the menu were great too.
