"Hawaiian comfort food chain L&L returns to the Lower East Side after 10 years. You'll find plate lunches, loco mocos, mac salad, and Spam musubi on the menu. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

"The 50-year-old Hawaiian chain, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, which specializes in the plate lunch (along with items like Spam musubi, katsu chicken, and Korean short ribs), is reopening in New York. First up is the Lower East Side location at 201 Allen Street, at East Houston Street, opening any day now, followed by two more debuting in rapid succession, in East Harlem at 2128 Second Avenue, and a third in Bushwick opening in December at 902 Broadway. The locations come from franchisee owners, brother-sister team Henry and Sephra Engel from Oahu, who say each location will have a signature menu, according to a spokesperson. The restaurant is the only franchise that comes from Honolulu and has over 230 locations; L&L had a Manhattan location on Fulton Street that first opened in 2004 and closed around 2013." - Melissa McCart

Watching the few good Hawaiian places in Manhattan close over the years, I thought the ono-style establishments' slow crawl to extinction was complete. Until I noticed on Google Maps that there was a lone remaining L&L in the financial district. A single displaced-Hawaiian tear rolled down my cheek. Only L&L had the grit to weather the march of gentrification and become the last remaining bastion of solid Hawaiian-style food in Manhattan. Their spam musubi, foreign and too "exotic" for most New Yorkers, tastes just like the real thing. The crisp breaded mahi mahi comes with potato-mac that brings one back to Diamond Head. Faded wallpaper, friendly staff, and a "cash only" warning with a shy smile—it's just like home.

L n L is really good! you would get full just from one platter for about 8 dollars! Before you order don't forget to check out their deals they have on the wall! which are totally worth your time and money! It is also nearby the south sea port area! so a great hangout with a friend or date followed by great food!
