Lao Ke Le Shanghai Cuisine Restaurant - Soup Dumplings Dim Sum Wonton

Came here to try their shrimp crab meat noodle and pork & crab soup dumplings. Generous servings of crab meat sauce over the noodle ensures that each bite you take adequately provides a satisfying taste of the crab meat. Broth inside the soup dumplings is plenty and delicious. Will definitely be back next time to try other items on their menu. Also liked their jasmine tea which was very fragrant.

Authentic cuisine and wonderful flavors! I have been here multiple times with both friends and family, and I am always seated quickly and given a fresh pot of hot tea. They always have this $30 promotion going on where if you spend $30, you can get a dish that is $8.95 or under for $1. I always get the braised beef noodle soup and the broth is always rich and flavorful. It's also a big bowl of noodles - in the picture I had taken I had already taken out 2 small servings and there is still that much left! I'm also a big fan of the mala xiaolongbao, the spice is just right, and it always comes steaming hot and juicy. The other 2 dishes I got were the bok choy and mushroom, and lions head meatball with crab meat/roe. I think the latter was a pretty solid dish, the crab was not that fishy and retained its sweet and delicate flavor even when eaten with the pork meatball. Overall, would recommend this place if you want good shanghainese food and eat a lot on a budget!

The food was disappointing. Maybe I ordered the wrong items. 醃篤鮮was horrible, the salted pork and bamboo was not fresh. I think it has to do with refrigeration process or equipment other dishes also have strange smell. The appetizer for $1 was not counted so be sure to check your bill before you pay. I had pieces of plastic in mine other than that was was not bad but definitely not worth full price. 蝦小籠包 and 松露小籠包 taste unimpressive, the skin is nice and thin which is great Noodle was good. Service can use some improvement, quicker refills of tea. Temperature on a hot day with good air conditioning and no wait was good. 紅燒魚肚 the source was ok but the quality of fish was not fresh, same as the pork has strange smell/taste

Had some pretty high expectations for Lao Ke Le and brought a few of my Shanghainese friends here. The food was decent, got a couple of dishes including soup dumplings, garlic string beans, dan dan noodles, hong shao rou, and Shanghainese soup. To be honest, the soup was my favorite dish. I thought it tasted pretty authentic and quite rich. The soup dumplings, fried rice, and noodles were all very standard. Good, but pretty standard for Chinese food here. The garlic string beans were a little bland. Typically they’re garnished with these fried pickled seasonings on top but I don’t think they made it that way here. The 红烧肉 or braised meat in red sauce was pretty good. The seating arrangement is pretty hard for group over 10, but overall very clean and modern. Overall, pretty standard, but was worth the visit!

One night, my wife and I craved for Shanghainese food and came to here. This is a place in modern decor and casual dining. The service provided here is up to the standard. Regarding the dishes, we were attracted by the Crab Meat Tofu Stew. It is a light and nutritious dishes. The taste of crab comes a little bit light but still perfect to pair with a nice bowl of white rice. Good execution with the thickness as well. The Pork Soup dumpling is definitely a surprise. You may found soup dumping really expensive or given as free dishes at many Shanghainese restaurants. This one?! $1 with purchase of $30 of main dishes (which is soooooo easy). It made me not expecting much but what is even more surprising is its taste. The soup was not as oily and paired well with aged vinaigrette ginger dipping sauce. It is $1 with a surprising good quality. The sweet sour tender comes a little bit not so surprising after those two dishes. The sauce is decent and doesn't get me wrong. I expected it with bone but it doesn't. It is easy to operate and execution was decent. The battering comes a little bit too thick but easy to eat. I regretted I decided to not ordering beer. So, you know what to do next time, lol. Overall, good meal. Thanks Amazing Cloud

I used to come here all the time but have noticed that things have gone downhill. I would still recommend the green pepper beef which was good, but the new dish (sweet and sour pork) was just fried pork in super sweet sauce that was not really edible. Also I always ask for no shrimps in my wonton and this time they put the small shrimps in there anyways. 🙄

The restaurant is nice and spacious. We were sat down at one of the tables next to the window and promptly received service. The waitress was very friendly and explained the menu to us, including a promotion they currently have. We ordered 1 regular soup dumpling and one crab soup dumpling, which both came out fresh and hot. The skin was soft and thin, with a generous meat filling, and super juicy!!! The other dishes were pretty good as well. The pickled fish stew had a good flavor and wasn’t too spicy, as I often find at other restaurants, and the ingredients were fresh. Rice cakes were nice and chewy too! Also recommend the passion fruit green tea which was light and refreshing.

Newly opened restaurant in the mall, looks very nice inside. But the food is really basic here. We ordered several dishes string beans, fried tofu bites, duck, lobster, pancake, but none of them stood out to me. They all were blend. The duck, with its sauce, was somewhat likable. The lobster, selling at an astronomical price, didn’t come with a lobster pick. The service was also okay. We had hard times getting anyone to help us. We had to call/wave several times to get someone’s attention . They also run a confusing promo of spend $30 and get any dish under $8.95 for $1. But they don’t clearly mention that it applies to only one item . If you order multiple, rest are charged at regular price. Overall it wasn’t worth the hassle of driving from NJ to Flushing to try this place. There are many other good options at a cheaper price in the area.
