"The best restaurant on the near Main Line is Lark, the Bala sister of East Passyunk’s Laurel. The view overlooking the Schuylkill river and neighboring Manayunk is unparalleled. So are the drinks and service. Go for a special occasion, date night, or cocktails around the fire pits with friends. The menu changes often, but the pastas, grilled octopus, strip steak, and shareable vegetable-forward dishes remain fantastic." - jonathan deutsch
"Trying to set the mood and take in show stopping views? Lark in Bala Cynwyd is the spot. In the colder months we love the candlelit dining room and Mediterranean mains (especially the bucatini puttanesca with mussels). But as soon as light-jacket weather hits, it’s all about the patio overlooking the Schuylkill. They have an excellent by-the-glass list, gorgeous cocktails, and fire pits in case it’s chilly. Just keep in mind that you'll have to sit inside to enjoy the full dinner menu." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"Lark has a great view of the Schuylkill, so if you proposed at Le Bec in the ‘80s and want to recreate the evening, this is the place to do it. The restaurant is also from Georges Perrier protégé Nick Elmi (see above). Rather than serving French food, this romantic Bala Cynwyd restaurant leans Mediterranean with a heavy focus on fish and handmade pastas. Much like LBF, though, the big-windowed room at Lark is as thoughtfully designed as the food on the plate." - alison kessler
"Nick Elmi’s Bala Cynwyd gem boasts a romantic rooftop that’s perfect for flirty cocktails (such as the mezcal and génépy concoction) with tasty seafood (try the tuna crudo with blackberry ponzu). The rooftop opens for the season on Thursday, May 1, and seating is first come, first served." - Ernest Owens
