Lasung Tofu & Pot Rice is fine, but K-town has better tofu stews - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"There are two types of soup people: those who live for the broth, and those who care more about what’s floating in it. This spot is for the latter. This Korean soup and rice bowl spot from the Lasung House people has a dramatic wall of stone pots at the entrance and a menu of tofu stew with fancy add-ins like lobster, crab, and short rib. But while the big chunks of silken tofu and the generous portions of meat make a strong first impression, the soup’s watery broth falls flat. And in a neighborhood where the tofu stew competition is fierce, it’s hard to justify choosing Lasung over a heavy hitter like Surawon a five-minute drive away. However, the other portion of Lasung’s name— pot rice—pulls its weight. It comes in versions topped with things like bulgogi, eel, or eggplant, but our favorite is the one with a combination of salty pollock roe, seaweed, and avocado. Each pot follows a similar process to what you'll find at pot rice rival Damsot. Both end with a bowl of scorched rice soup at the end, though here the pots are left uncovered after your server pours in boiling water, which means the soup ends up cold by the time you eat it. As a place built around two signature dishes, it’s a shame that only one of them kind of works. Food Rundown Tofu Stew After trying a few different versions over several visits, our takeaway was pretty consistent: this broth lacks depth. The medium spice level is barely there, while the next level up will have you hurting. Even then, all you taste is heat. On the plus side, they are generous with the toppings. photo credit: Cathy Park Fried Dumplings A nice combo of golden, blistered wrappers and meaty filling. These are a satisfying snack to have on the table. photo credit: Cathy Park Pot Rice Topped With Salted Pollock Roe The combo of roe, avocado, and crispy rice in each bite remind us of a sushi roll. This is the dish we’d come back for. photo credit: Cathy Park Pot Rice Topped with Grilled Eggplant This pot is generous with the eggplant and ground pork, but it’s all a bit too salty when mixed together. photo credit: Cathy Park" - Cathy Park

LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"The people behind the frisbee-sized donkatsu spot Lasung House just opened another restaurant specializing in tofu stew and pot rice. Soondubu isn’t rare in Koreatown, but here it’s available with premium add-ons like crab, lobster, and short rib. They also have interesting pot rice dishes with minari and clams or salted pollack roe." - cathy park

Koreatown’s Hottest Restaurant Group Just Opened Sot Bap and Soondubu Restaurant Lasung Tofu & Pot Rice | Eater LA

"Opened by On6thAvenue (the hospitality group behind Origin Barbecue, Lasung House, and Quarters) on Olympic Boulevard in Koreatown, this restaurant doubles down on two Korean specialties: pot rice (sot bap) and soondubu (soft tofu stew). The soondubu section is built around a broth that is simmered for 10 hours, with options similar to specialists like Surawon or BCD Tofu House — proteins include beef, shrimp and clam; prime beef short ribs; beef brisket; and ham and sausage — and a signature soondubu that “comes with lobster and assorted seafood simmered in the rich orange-red broth.” Guests choose spice level from light to extra strong; soondubu is served with a side of white rice or can be upgraded to the Rainbow Powerhouse, a mixed rice with chickpeas, black beans, and green peas (for an additional cost). The restaurant recommends pouring barley tea into the dredges of the rice to make nurungji (Korean scorched rice): “The grains will continue to cook in the individual serving pot, crisping up the rice and absorbing the earthy tea.” On the sot bap side, individual pots keep the rice warm while eating and are topped with items like seasoned boneless short ribs, grilled bulgogi, grilled eggplant, salted pollack roe, and grilled eel; prices start at $19.99 for the grilled eggplant and range to $29.99 for the short ribs. The menu is rounded out with other classics — a seollongtang simmered for 72 hours, grilled bulgogi, gochujang spicy pork belly, and grilled salted mackerel — and soondubu can be added to mains like stone pot bibimbap, ganjang gejang (spicy marinated raw crab), and marinated LA short ribs to create meal sets. For groups, ordering the spicy braised beef short ribs with optional melted cheese mirrors the cult-loved preparation found at nearby Sun Nong Dan; the write-up also recommends kimchi or seafood pancake to round out a meal, or spicy buckwheat noodles to cut through rich dishes. As part of a rapid expansion (On6thAvenue opened four new restaurants between February 2024 and now), this spot joins DamSot as one of the only options in Koreatown specifically focused on sot bap and could further expand the hospitality group’s footprint in the neighborhood." - Rebecca Roland

Having loved Lusung Tonkatsu, I was eager to try Lasung Tofu, and I'm so glad I did. Calling it "just tofu" is a disservice; it's a full-service Korean restaurant with a great selection of dishes, which was a very pleasant surprise! I ordered the Beef Brisket Soft Tofu Soup, and it was excellent—the first place I've seen that offers it. I'm already looking forward to exploring the rest of their menu on my next visit. The service here is truly top-notch, especially considering this spot is relatively new to Koreatown. Our server, Sean, was absolutely fantastic. My wife didn't enjoy the tofu soup she initially ordered (a case of ordering the wrong thing for her taste, not the food's fault!), and Sean was immediately on top of it. He kindly and promptly changed her dish out, and she ended up loving the replacement. The atmosphere is also a big plus—it's nice enough that I would confidently bring out-of-town guests here for a quality Korean meal. Overall, a great trip, and I plan on returning within the week before I leave town!

This SoonDuBu restaurant brings some competition to the old favorite BCD Restaurant which is near by. Interior here is of course new and updated. Ordering is done with a tablet. They offer similar combo set as BCD with the spicy soft tofu soup and a protein entree. Not sure why but they add $5 to the combo price (which is already high enough) for a choice of topping for the soup. You are paying additional inflation premium here with higher prices with less quantity. Their soup is quite good but it is actually quite small if you order the combo set. Also you can order a combo set of the hot pan mixed rice dishes with a choice of one of the matcha tea drink from next door. Overall you get similar taste and quality of BCD but you usually won’t have any food left to take home as their portions are quite small. Parking seems tough since I did not see a free parking lot. You may have to use paid street parking or paid parking lot near by.

First time here. Very easy and convenient because I did order through tablet. Price was high but portion was huge. Got grilled whole squid set that came with soup, egg, rice, and sides. Squid was perfectly cooked not too chewy but very tasty and juicy. Overall, I enjoyed my meal so was looking forward to eating more here.

First time visiting Lasung Suntofu! The place was nicely designed and very clean — spacious, too, with kind and welcoming staff. The food was good and served in generous portions. The breakfast meal even included a matcha beverage, which was really good!

Google
Visited Lasung Tofu & Pot Rice for a late dinner and overall had a mixed experience, but there are definitely reasons I'd come back! Food was 3/5. We ordered the Galbi combo, marinated crab combo, and naengmyun. *The marinated crab was hands down the highlight!! Flavorful, generous portions, and definitely something I'd recommend. *Galbi was decent. Not the best I've had, but not bad either -- just okay. *Soontofu had great meat quality, but the broth was on the bland side and not as spicy as expected. *Naengmyun tasted similar to store-bought packs and didn't stand out. Next time, I'm curious to try their pot rice since it looked great at other tables. Service: 5/5 We showed up about an hour before closing, and the staff was super accommodating. They gave us gentle heads-ups about last call, but never made us feel rushed. That kind of hospitality made a big difference and really stood out. Ambience: 5/5 We loved the space, there was enough space between the tables so you're not involuntarily in someone else's conversations. The place was well lit and offers private rooms for bigger parties! All in all, Lasung was okay, I'd like to go back to try the other menu items.

Google
We ordered the lunch menu for 5 people. Came with a main dish and soup as a side. I ordered the short rib rice. Bomb. Parking right on the street was clutch, until 3pm! Perfect time for 1pm lunch on the weekday.

Google
Lasung was a great choice for delicious Korean food. The tofu stew and kimchi pancake were both very tasty and flavorful . The mackerel was just okay, not my favorite, but everything else hit the spot. I appreciated the clean, simple decor, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive!

Google
I think this place beats BCD by a large margin with better quality food overall. Everything tastes homemade and well done. Even the rice is SO delicious, I’ve never tasted a fresher rice in my life!!! Highly recommend giving this place a try for like an early lunch or dinner ~

Yelp
The food here was amazing and the service was very good and I also like the aesthetic of the place

Yelp
Food was great, service was great! Galbi was the best. Only needed to wait 15 minutes on a Saturday afternoon

Yelp
Good soup i thought servir was good too and the interior was pretty. Will come again.

Yelp
Love this place! It's so nice inside and the food is awesome. It's like BCD but mind blowing more flavorful! The pancake here is so good too!

Yelp
We came for the $25 lunch special that comes with a pot rice entree and a rok matcha. We opted to add the tofu stew to our order too. The hot stone bibimbap was really good, and the rice gets pretty crispy on the bowl. We were really happy to get the rok matchas since we didn't need to wait in line next door.

Yelp
Food: We ordered the bulgogi tofu soup and cold noodles. Both meals were delicious and flavorful, comparable with other ktown tofu restaurants. It does not really stand out against competitors but it was still delicious and what you expect! The banchan options are good! Service: Although it said the wait time was 50 mins we were sat quickly with little to no wait. You order on an iPad which makes it a little hard to customize your order, but you can wave down a server semi-easy, just takes a little more time. They were helpful and polite. The food came out quickly. There is spacious seating and a parking garage next door (although parking is limited on busy days). You are able to order matcha from next door at Rok while you wait for your food and bring it into the restaurant! It is a little on the pricer side.

Yelp
Run don't walk to get the Pot Rice and Rok combo deal, so good and so worth it. Was surprised that there was a wait on a Tuesday afternoon but hey, it's just that good. The garlic short rib was AMAZING so flavorful, meat was so tender and it also had a butter of some kind and oh my it was so delicious. Tofu soup was amazing too, the combo itself is just so good because sometimes you just need to have tofu soup with rice you know. AND you also get a drink from Rok, which has a long line in itself so this deal is so so worth it! There's a parking structure right in the corner, it's free for up to 90 minutes and some change which is a plus in this area. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Came here for the brunch deal ($27 on weekends)! We all got the bibimbap and a matcha drink from Rok. I thought the bibimbap was very average. Nothing too special or that I would come back for. You order on a tablet, so it's hard to make adjustments. For example, I'm vegetarian but the bibimbap automatically comes with beef. You need to call someone over to tell them, and they just take the beef out rather than replace it with tofu. I feel like paying the same price for a dish but without the meat made the meal even more not worth the price. The matcha lattes automatically comes with dairy milk as well, so bring your lactaid if you're lactose intolerant. Overall, if you're coming for the food, I think there are better places in ktown. If you want to try the matcha, then go to the cafe directly. I think the interior is cute. The restaurant is pretty big and the restrooms are super nice (full length mirrors). You honestly don't really see the servers at all since you don't order from them.

Yelp
Ambiance: Pretty casual place that's also clean. We got seated right away Service: very efficient here - you order your food through the tablet and then they come with your food. The minute we sat down, there was someone bringing the side dishes. Food: food was really good! the portions are huge (as shown in picture) so you could share. The bibimbap was good - loved all the vegetables that came with it. The tofu soup was really good too. Mackerel was a generous portion that was good too along with the side dishes.

Yelp
We arrived at the perfect time and were seated immediately, which was a great start. However, the food itself was only moderately impressive. Its good because its Korean comfort food, but definitely no wow factor. The experience was comparable to an established restaurant like BCD, but presented in a more modern environment, satisfying a craving without offering any standout dishes. The service, unfortunately, was significantly disappointing. Our banchan (side dishes) were never refilled; a server offered to bring more but never returned. Furthermore, the call button at our table seemed entirely unresponsive--we pressed it about three times with no success. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the staff appeared inattentive, often standing around talking or actively avoiding engagement with customers, which greatly detracted from the overall dining experience.

Yelp
We ended up getting the bibimbap lunch combo. The bibimbap was okay... not the best I have tasted, but the matcha and the sides were soooo good. I recommend getting the tofu soup from here instead of bibimbap. The matcha is always good at rok (Lasung and rok are attached together). Also, the sides were so good. Idk what they made the dressing of the salad out of, but the dressing was so good. All of the sides were good. The servers seemed annoyed/ tired. However, the vibe was bustling and the place was clean :)

Yelp
Lasung is such a reliable go-to when you're craving real Korean comfort food. I tried the hot stone bibimbap, spicy squid, and tofu soup, and everything came out flavorful, fresh, and exactly what I wanted. The bibimbap had that perfect crispy rice on the bottom, the spicy squid had great heat without being overpowering, and the tofu soup was comforting and rich. Selfishly, I do wish they offered more banchan side dishes, the ones they have are good, but I'm a big side-dish person so I always want a fuller spread . That said, the food itself definitely makes up for it. Fast service, hearty portions, and that classic no-frills Korean vibe that keeps you coming back. Solid spot worth visiting when you want something satisfying and legit.

Yelp
I have been to Lasung twice, once for their regular dinner and once during DineLA. I used to see a line here all the time, so I never went, but recently the hype seemed to have gone down, so there is hardly a wait. However, just in case, I would make a reservation online for busier days/times. For their regular dinner, I tried their tofu soup and meat (pork and short ribs). Their soup was pretty good and flavorful and their meats were also tender. I also upgraded for one of their pot rice, but I thought that was just OK. It had a weird plastic taste to the rice and I took a lot of it home and it tasted worse the next day. I know they have been advertising as artisanal tofu soup. I am not sure if I taste the difference. I think the food is good, but it's more expensive than a regular tofu soup in Ktown and I think it tastes pretty much the same. I think it's good for a fancier dinner because I did really enjoy the ambiance. But if you're looking for a quick/cheap eat, I would recommend going to another restaurant. I do also want to say that I came here for DineLA and I do think that was really worth it. I was a let to try the tofu soup and their mixed rice at a super decent price. And at the end, they give a cup of matcha latte from ROK, which is the super popular matcha place next door (I believe it's owned by the same owners). I will definitely come back here for DineLA.

Yelp
Was finally able to get their $25 weekday brunch special (comes with your choice of beverage from ROK and you can add a tofu stew for a few extra dollars). You can check in via Yelp in advance and the wait was super quick. We enjoyed the gopchang stone pot rice and the grilled bulgogi bibimbap stone pot rice. Both came out sizzling hot and were delicious with the crispy, crunchy, rice that forms at the bottom of the stone pot. All meals come with a wide variety of side dishes (banchan) and the servers are happy to refill these as needed. Finished off our meal with the creamy and divine matcha duo from ROK-and was able to skip the crazy line next door! They have very generous portions and I was able to take the leftovers home for a second meal. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I arrived on a weekday around 1:30pm and it was easy to get a seat, didn't have to wait at all. I got the $25 deal that comes with a specific meal and a drink. I got the bulgogi rice and it was super tasty, I would definitely order this again. I wish there were more veggie variety, but bean sprouts were still a good option. For the mugwort and black sesame, I did not like the drink, but that's based on personal preference. I have never tried mugwort so the drink was very surprising. It has an herbal and minty undertone to the drink and the black sesame was very grainy. I would have preferred the matcha over this drink. Lots of seating in the restaurant, great place to eat and chat with friends!

Yelp
Solid food but sometimes the wait can get really long! Stopped by on a Sunday at around 11:30am and there was just a short 10 min wait (though I have waited an hour before). It's also always impossible to get parking in the neighborhood so we just did valet for $3 (even though it said $2 for lunch on the sign??). Since they were offering the brunch deal, we opted for that + a tofu soup so it ended up being $40 per person after tax and tip for an entree, tofu soup, and matcha duo dessert (I also love that you can just order from the ipad because I'm an introvert). For their starters, I love the salad and potato and they always offer to refill which is really nice. Service is also pretty quick but the starters help pass time. For their food, the bibimbap has an amazing sauce that seals the meal: everything in their bibimbap is really standard but dang im obsessed with that sauce!! While the tofu soup is good, there's not a lot of soup and the tofu consistency is a bit off. As for the matcha from Rok (I'm assuming it's the same owner since they always offer deals), I personally don't love the matcha flavor here but I like things in the sweeter and flavored side i.e. a mango matcha. It's also not as creamy as I would like but it's decent. Overall, pretty good deals if you're ever in ktown and can't think of anywhere to eat!

Yelp
Came on a weekday to try their brunch special -- it comes with a pot rice dish and a drink from Rok next door (a nice bonus since Rok is right beside them). Ordering is done through the table touch screen, which makes it easy to order. Although, it times out quickly so it super annoying when you're trying to browse and add things to the cart and it deletes what's in the cart. We got the spicy squid stone pot rice with tofu stew, the kimchi tofu stew with pork, and the kimchi seafood pancake. The pot rice portions are generous -- easily enough for two people -- and the seafood pancake was tasty as well. Overall, everything was good, and the brunch deal is a great value, but not necessarily something I'd make a special trip to Koreatown for unless you really love pot rice (and want that free Rok drink). One downside: we asked for side dish refills and never got them, which was surprising since most Korean restaurants usually offer free refills without an issue. That was a first for me. They do have valet parking in the structure behind Rok -- $2 during lunch and $3 for dinner -- which is actually pretty reasonable considering how tough parking can be in K-town.

Yelp
Hmm..not sure if this is another "overhyped" TikTok spot but the food was okay. It felt like there was so much flavor missing and salt needed to be added in all the dishes. It was easy to order the food since there's a tablet on the side of the table so the food came out decently fast. However, I personally wouldn't come here again since it was pretty expensive for the food that you get. I did really like the matcha from rōk though and would probably get that again. Their Banchan was really good and flavorful but that's really it. I didn't enjoy the Wagyu rice was much as I thought I would. Ambiance is nice with plenty of tables everywhere but it is super busy inside. There's a parking garage with a valet.

Yelp
I visited Lasung with my friends for the Brunch Special they were having with Rok next door! It was a really great deal, and we got a drink of choice + a plate for $25, and added a tofu soup for $4. I got the bimbimbap plate and I loved how crispy the rice got. The food was very flavorful and tasty. The tofu soup was small, but a good size for me. I got the mild, and it was already pretty spicy for me, but my spice tolerance isn't the best. Overall, I really liked Lasung and would love to visit again and try more of their dishes!

Yelp
Craved tofu stew & stopped by Lasung Tofu & Pot Rice in Ktown, which totally hit the spot! I got the pork dumpling tofu stew (medium spicy) with a poached egg. The broth was super flavorful & comforting, and I'd give it a 9/10. I'm not a huge spicy foodie, but the medium was more mild than expected (which I loved). The pork dumplings were just ok (7/10), bringing the overall dish to an 8/10. Next time, I'd want to try the beef brisket, kimchi with pork, or ham & sausage tofu stews instead. We also ordered the brunch special for $33, such a steal! It came with the Seasoned Prime Boneless Shortribs Pot Rice & a Rok Coffee & Tea drink (we picked the Matcha Duo drink). The short ribs were tender, juicy, and flavorful. We rate this an 8.5/10. The sweetness with every bite was a special touch. The Matcha Duo drink was very smooth, slightly sweet, and delicious. Would rate the matcha duo a 9/10. The banchan was fresh and tasty (loved the kimchi and pickled cucumbers!), and the ambiance was cozy, clean, and modern. Service was great too, everyone was super friendly and attentive. Overall super satisfying meal that hit my tofu stew craving and my boyfriend's protein fix. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
My friend recommended we try this place out after our 4-hour road trip. I've been craving bibimbap so I was excited. Half a bibim stone bowl, side brisket beef stew, and mackerel later and I'm completely satisfied and stuffed. Delicious!

Yelp
Always love Lasung. The side dishes are amazing. My fav is the kimchi pork soup. Service is also great! Food also comes out quickly

Yelp
Came for their new $25 lunch special and it was so good! My favorite was the short rib pot rice, which came with so much flavor and garnish. Would definitely order again. We also ordered a side of tofu stew for $4, which is cheap for the portion size. Came on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty busy! You order through tablet on the table. The inside is very modern! There's street parking or valet parking in the garage that gets very busy! $2 for lunch valet. Side note.. you can't order Rok Drinks without getting the lunch special.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends who've been here before and they highly recommended we have dinner here while we were out in LA. We came on a Friday night and we were seated right away. Parking was a little difficult as is all parking in LA but we were able to find street parking close by. The inside was clean with a nice, modern aesthetic with plenty of seating. Each table has its own iPad so you can browse the menu and order whenever ready. The bathrooms were also well kept and smelled nice. We ordered the Pot Rice topped with Seasoned Prime Boneless Short Rib Combo with Beef Brisket Tofu Stew. The food came out very quick and the staff were so friendly! Beef Brisket Tofu Stew 9/10 - Wow! This soup was packed with flavor. The broth was nice and rich. A tad salty but pairing it with rice balances it out. The tofu was soft and silky and really absorbed the flavor so well. The beef was juicy and tender. One of the better tofu soups I've had for sure! Got it mild spice and as someone who has low spice tolerance, I would honestly go up to medium next time. Short Rib Combo 10/10 - This was for sure a standout dish. Upon first glance, it doesn't like like too much food, but the beef chunks are huge and came with a lot of rice. Definitely enough to share between 2 people. The beef was tender, juicy, and had bit of a smoky flavor. After mixing the bowl, each bite was filled with buttery, rich goodness. Highly recommend getting this. Had a great time at this restaurant. Food and service was awesome. Definitely recommend this place for a group hangout!!

Yelp
Pot Rice with Seasoned Short Rib 10/10 -- so good!!! Rice was perfectly cooked and slightly crispy at the bottom, the meat was tender and juicy, and the flavor was so rich especially with the butter it was topped with but not too heavy. At first I thought it wouldn't be enough meat, but after mixing everything up and cutting it into smaller pieces it generously served 2 people. Even after finishing the meat, I ate the rice by itself because there was so much good flavor I didn't want to miss out on. Beef brisket tofu soup 8/10 -- Super flavorful and it came with a poached egg (really similar to Japanese onsen eggs) that you crack in the soup and has the perfect runny yolk. I did think it was a bit salty, but overall it was a really solid tofu soup. Got here around 9:30pm on a Friday night and there was plenty of seating available. There's an ipad at every table where you order your food, and everything came out within 5-10 minutes--so fast! There's a call button on the iPad so if you need anything someone will come right away. Also, I like how it's basically connected to Rok because I was able to get matcha after. I'm already thinking about the next time I'll be able to come back

Yelp
Loved it. Delicious food in a smooth, elegant and chill setting. Found street parking, but they apparently have free parking, too. Ideal to come with at least one other person to help spread out the sharing options. Got here for a summer lunch and had plenty of space to settle in. The banchan came out pretty quickly and was refreshing and tasty. Short Ribs Pot Rice -- and we chose the assorted beef, shrimp, and clam tofu stew. Tons of flavor, satisfying variety, too. Enjoyed the Grilled Yellow Croaker, with poached egg. A tangy orange soup with lots of good stuff accompanying the fish. The Seafood Pancake is scrumptious - and so big that we ended up taking a good portion home. Made for crazy-good leftovers. The service was good; the kiosk to order worked well, too. With so much to choose from, it will be fun and necessary to return!

Yelp
Food I got myself a combo tofu soup with the grilled squid. I am a big fan of tofu soup and I have to say their tofu soup is pretty good. Good amount of filling. I like heat, so I got the medium spicy and it was a tad bit too spicy for me, but not so much that I still didn't enjoy the soup, so I would probably just get mild next time. The grilled squid had good flavor and marinade, but the cook on the squid was a tad bit over as it was a bit chewy but I still enjoyed it. They had a lot banchan(sides) that we kept asking for and I fairly enjoyed all the food Service/Ambiance We were a pretty big group of 7, so they placed us inside a private room which was nice for us, unfortunately no signal in the room but I guess it forced us to talk to each other more. The staff were really nice and accommodating and service was relatively quick. The private room had a call service button too which was convenient.

Yelp
This place is worth the hype! Firstly, the interior is modern, sleek, and clean. The service was also excellent and our waitress checked in multiple times. Every other time I've tried to dine here, , the wait time has been long. However, our party of 2 only waited 5 minutes on a Saturday around 7:30pm. We got the spicy brisket tofu stew and the extra spicy mixed tofu stew, for about $42 total. Both stews were delicious, and the banchan was also amazing! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 I got the traditional stone pot and it was perfect, no complaints. Everything was fresh and good flavor. Service: 5/5 I would give it more stars if I could. The servers were very helpful in explaining the menu and gave us some free sides because it was our first time there! Ambiance: 5/5 I loved the vibe. Great dark atmosphere with cool lighting. And everything was very clean.

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite tofu spots! Not only was the food delicious and affordable but free parking in Ktown is so rare so that definitely was a bonus! They're open daily 8am-10pm and they're located right next to ROK cafe (same owners as ROK!) Inside was very spacious and plenty of seating! Service was friendly and welcoming Early Morning Special was such a good deal! It's $20/person on the weekdays 8am-11am and $25/person on the weekends It includes: - 2 appetizers - banchan & tofu salad - choice of 2 options - any tofu soup OR hot stone bibimbap - ROK Specialty Drink (8 options!!) The banchans consisted of 4 different dishes - pickled cucumber, radish, kimchi, and beancurd. They were all so delicious and fresh! My favorites were the Beancurd and kimchi! The tofu salad was pretty good! The greens could have been more fresh but the sesame dressing was so tasty! The tofu was so crispy and yummy! This was 9/10 The Seafood & Beef Tofu Soup was amazing! The tofu was so fresh and soft! The soup was packed with big shrimp and clams! The beef was so tender and plentiful! The soup was so flavorful but a little too salty! This was 9/10 The Matcha Duo was incredible! It was so creamy and the matcha tasted so rich and delicious! It wasn't too sweet even without any sugar and ice adjustments! Definitely one of the best matcha lattes I've had so this was 9/10 Overall, the food was wonderful so I would definitely recommend and return

Yelp
My husband and I came here for lunch on a weekday. We happened to come on dineLA week so the place was super crowded with a lot of people waiting outside. We waited about 45 minutes for a table but by the time we left, we overheard that the wait was about 1.5 hours. The good thing about this place is if you have a long wait, you can just go next door to ROK to get some matcha or coffee while you wait for your table to be ready. The dineLA lunch menu was such a good deal for $25 per person. The pre-fixe menu came with kimchi pancake (or seafood pancake), sizzling stone bowl bibimbap (or LA short ribs), 2 small tofu stews (soondubu), and dessert which were 2 drinks (either Matcha Duo or Mugwort Duo) from ROK next door. For $50 total, that was a crazy good deal. No wonder the line was out the door! The banchans (free side dishes) here were decent. To be honest, my favorite part of the meal was the kimchi pancake which was small but SO delicious. They nailed the oily and crispy texture! It was flavorful and perfect. I would totally get this again. I also really enjoyed the sizzling stone bowl bibimbap. It was healthy, hearty, and made well. Portion size was huge. We had to take most of this to go because we couldn't finish it. The tofu stew (soondubu) was pretty good too, comparable to BCD but nothing special. My husband also tried the raw marinated crab a la carte which he really loved. Portions were generous. Service was pretty bad. I honestly felt bad for the worker waiting on the tables in our section. He looked really stressed and overwhelmed. At the end of the meal, we were waiting for our ROK Mugwort Duo drink but it never came. We asked our server multiple times but he just left us waiting and waiting... So we ended up just settling for the Matcha Duo which they had a ton of, already premade and set out in plastic cups. The Matcha Duo is really good but I just wanted to try the Mugwort because we had already tried the matcha duo at Rok next door right before. However, the matcha duo they gave us was a lot thicker and a tad bit too creamy and sweet. It was different from the Matcha Duo that I had ordered directly from ROK that morning... maybe because they made these in bulk. Parking: street

Yelp
Relatively new Korean restaurant amongst an almost infinite choices of delicious places. This one definitely stands out with its unique taste, modern decor and excellent service!

Yelp
Totally addicted! I've been coming to Lasung Tofu every weekend for a month because their Season Boneless Short Rib Pot Rice Combo is just that good. The pot rice is incredibly flavorful -- the mix of wasabi and truffle butter adds the perfect touch, and the galbi melts in your mouth. I always add the Salted Roe Soon Tofu, which is honestly the best ever -- rich, savory, and perfectly balanced. The combo even comes with a drink from ROK Café, and the best part is there's no waiting in line for it. Service is always friendly and welcoming, and every visit feels like a treat. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I visited a tonkatsu restaurant in LA today, and it was such a great experience! The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, without being greasy at all. The portions were generous, and the side dishes were fresh and flavorful. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly even though the restaurant was busy. The atmosphere was cozy and clean, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. Overall, I was really impressed -- definitely a spot I'd come back to and recommend to others who love good tonkatsu!

Yelp
10/10 hits every time! Can't go wrong with the soondubu, bibimbap or the short rib pot rice! the short rib pot rice had a heavy garlic flavor so just be mindful of that. GET EXTRA FISH CAKE BANCHAN YOU WONT REGRET IT! Sadly they ran out of the sweet potato banchan while we were here bc when we asked for more they just handed us mashed potato without an explanation. boooo.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting this restaurant in ktown after running some errands and I made it in time for their lunch special. The lunch combo I got was the traditional hot stone bibimbap combo with the rok matcha duo. The dish was so flavorful and delicious. I also enjoyed all their side dishes as well. I have only heard good things about rok matcha and their matcha duo did not disappoint. It was rich & creamy, I would love to go back and get another matcha drink. I can't wait to come back to try their other dishes and drinks!

Yelp
This restaurant tastes straight from Korea! The deal itself is great for 2 people, plenty of food enough for leftovers. The bibimbap is cooked on a hot stone so the bottom crisps up. The kimchi soup was great with silky tofu, seafood and beef. My friend and I really enjoyed the ban chan, the fried tofu was amazing - with a slight sweet garlic sauce on top. Rok was another great touch to the meal to balance. They don't allow substitutions but I would go with the Double Matcha. The Mugwort tasted like peppermint almost like chamomile tea. I would def come back to try other items on the menu. The service was great! Parking can be a struggle but go early and there's always street parking somewhere nearby.

Yelp
DELISH... bulgogi was flavorful, well-portioned stew that came rice, and they were generous with the Bachan. Bottomless. Neat and spacious, as well!

Yelp
Stone pot rice with tofu soup was fire. The banchan was great as well. The drink combo was a good deal. Overall worth coming out here

Yelp
Omg yum! The lunch set with rok is a deeeeal!!! And you can avoid the rok line. The banchan is high quality and fresh. The bibimbap is perfect! The portions are pretty large and definitely shareable with 2 people. The short rib galbi plate was a lil pricy for the amount.

Yelp
I came to Lasung for their popular DineLA special and can see why all reservations were booked up. The kimchi seafood pancake had the perfect texture - light and crispy. It wasn't overly salty but had great flavor. The star of the show of the short rib that was perfectly seasoned and had a nice chew.

Yelp
Enjoyed our lunch here - the tofu stew and cold noodles were both good with large portions, and their combos are a good deal, especially the galbi. Banchan was decent. We walked in during a busy lunch time, and waited for a bit after writing our names down (the clipboard is somewhat hidden behind the host stand). Once seated, we ordered on the table iPad. I felt like the electronic ordering decreased the service experience - you can flag a server via the iPad, but it can take a while, and the impression was definitely that there was slight understaffing. They accidentally forgot to include the egg with my tofu stew, and had to be flagged down, and it also took a while to get our banchan refilled. Nothing exceptional, but would be good if you're in the area for a quick meal or if they're running one of their promotions.

Yelp
Lasung Tofu House is such a solid spot when you want something warm and filling. I ordered the Brunch Special with the Traditional Hot Stone Bimbibap, and the food came out delicious. The tofu soup had great flavor and the banchan were fresh -- exactly what you want at a Korean place. I originally wanted the short rib combo, but unfortunately they didn't have it available that day. Still, the meal I got was delicious and satisfying, so it didn't ruin the experience at all.

Yelp
Came for their morning special and it was sooooo worth driving out to ktown! $20 for a full course meal?? You get a tofu salad, tofu soup or stone bibimbap, and a ROK drink of your choice. Note: The price goes up to $25 on the weekends. And you order on the iPad. The beef tofu soup medium was amazing with lots of chunks of meat. We ordered the poached egg (free) but didn't get it in the soup and they were quick to bring it to us. The white rice is free and multigrain rice is additional $3. Wish I got a picture of the multigrain rice but it was really good! Lots of beans and texture in there, not like the standard purple/brown rice other places give. No complains about the bibimbap either it was sooooo good! Good mix of vegetables and a good amount of meat too! I'm used to other places handing us a squeeze bottle for the sauce but there it's given in a small dish. The portion was good enough for us but I'm sure you could ask for more sauce if you need. ROK drinks are amazing as we all know so it's just nice having it with the meal. And again all this for $20???? Amazing !!!!!

Yelp
Lasung Tofu is a solid spot for soon do bu and bibimbaps. We came as a group of 4 on a Sunday around 1pm and waited about 10 minutes for a table. We each ordered the Rok combo which is the bibimbap + Rok drink for $28. The soon do bu is an extra $5. I would recommend getting the traditional bibimbap - I made the mistake of getting the bean sprout one but the meat is the same, it's just missing the majority of the traditional bibimbap ingredients like carrot, spinach, and egg. The special only runs during lunch hours. I didn't see the pricing of the normal menu but the combo was kind of expensive on its own.

Yelp
came here and put our name on the waitlist, we were seated within 5 minutes! theres alot of seating inside and i liked their interior. we came for the lunch special with rok and its such a great deal! their bibimbap with the scorched rice was so crispy and perfectly done. there was a lot of banchans and they were all delicious. the rok drink i got was the black sesame latte which was a little too powerful for me. the sesame flavor was good but a bit too roasted. but for food, this place is a must try. their tofu soup was also very good and tasty

Yelp
I always come here to get some really good 순두부. Food is always delicious and on point. Service is a bit slow, but restaurant is big and on theme. I highly recommend for those looking for some high quality Korean food.
