The 21 Best Restaurants On (& Around) Nolensville Pike

"Whether you’re in the mood for a piping hot caldo de res, or a thick, pillowy baleada, it’s impossible not to feel at home here. The owners, a husband-and-wife team from Mexican and Honduran backgrounds, cook everything to order, watching the cheese melt in their crispy tortilla like they would a toddler who just learned to walk. They'll also personally ladle up a bowl of hearty beef soup that's been simmering for hours and squeeze in some lime that brightens the rich broth up. This happens to be one of the few restaurants on Nolensville Pike with a full bar, and there’s a karaoke machine in the back that will start calling your name after a few margaritas." - anas saba

The food here is SO fresh, and I love the Taco Tuesday deals. Some of the best salsa in town. Drink specials on weeknights. Stop in and see their beautiful new table decor and experience their service with a smile. It's obvious they care. * Can be hard to spot the building if you're approaching from the North - it's a yellow building between Mateo's and Collision.*

Laura's Cocina is one of those places I have driven by so many times but never stopped in and so we finally did it on a Saturday for lunch, and I am so glad we did! I was shocked to find it empty - we were the only ones in there. But we were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. The decor is nice and the light is bright and natural. There are two very large screens that can be split to catch all the sports. The salsa is so delicious and fresh. A little more on the chunky side but it is so tasty! Chips and delicious. Queso wonderful too! I had enchiladas with red sauce. One beef and one chicken. The red sauce is so yummy. Little bit of spice and flavors are great. The food was served piping hot, which I love. We can't wait to go back. Didn't take any photos because I was so hungry and didn't even think about it until I was halfway through my food but everything was delicious. Go support this small business!

Sopes, sopes, sopes! Fresh ingredients and great flavor in all their dishes, but the sopes are the standout for me. Perfect balance of beans, meat, and veggies. Make sure to ask for the green chile sauce—it's deliciously spicy and worth it! Note: around 7 PM they start karaoke, which is a fun activity if you don't mind the loud music.

My newest favorite discovery on Nolensville Road - Laura's Cocina! 5️⃣⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’d seen a few posts about it here and my husband and I were in the area, so we decided to check them out. We were blown away by food - taste, quality and quantity all top notch! Service was great too - we had a sweet waitress, Ashley, who was very attentive, and served us quickly and efficiently. Ashley quickly brought hot chips and fresh salsa to get started with. They alone were so good! We’d heard Laura’s dip was a must, so we asked about it and it has queso, bean dip and ground beef. There was also chorizo dip, and my husband loves chorizo, so we asked for Laura’s dip only with chorizo instead of ground beef. It was fabulous! For entrees my husband got Laura’s Fajitas and I got Quesabirrias. OMG! They came out steaming and sizzling, and the quantities were HUGE! We had plenty of leftovers so will enjoy for lunch the next couple of days. We ended with the flan, a nice sweet ending to this wonderful meal. While we were gorging on all the food, the owner Juan came by and spoke to us for awhile. He and his wife Jesse own and run the place. He’s of Mexican descent, and his wife is from Honduras I believe, so the menu has both Mexican and Central American cuisine. It’s a very extensive menu and most everything is made from scratch with very fresh ingredients. We can’t wait to go back to work our way through the menu. As far as alcohol, right now it’s only beer, although Juan said they should be getting their full alcohol license soon so then we can get margaritas- yay! This place is a MUST GO!!!😋 Check out my pics & videos with comments.

I love this restaurant! I been to so many restaurants in Nashville and this one is the best to me <3 the flavor , the vibes and most importantly the service ! Everything is AMAZING . The food is great but the margaritas are greater ! I really recommend this place for any occasion!

This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had… and I lived in San Diego for years. Everything was made fresh. The guac and salsa alone are worth a trip. The corn tortillas were light and fluffy. The barbacoa was my favorite taco, but the al pastor and carnitas were both great as well. And the servers were welcoming and attentive. Everyone here clearly cares about the quality of the food served and the enjoyment of their guests. We can’t wait to go back!

Google
Ever since Laura’s Cocina opened on Nolensville Road, it’s been blowing up on Yelp with nearly unanimous five-star reviews. It’s located in a part of Nashville teeming with Mexican eateries, yet it’s risen above the rest bawd on crowd-sourced reviews. So naturally, having eaten superior Mexican cuisine in Mexico and while growing up in Los Angeles, I had to check it out for myself to see if it met my standards. And I’m happy to report that Laura’s gets my stamp of approval! The sauces are authentic, spicy dishes are appropriately spicy, others are subtle, and everything is very fresh. Most notably, they use higher quality meat than most places but still charge reasonable prices. If not for Yelp, you might drive right past Laura’s. But this is a hidden gem worth trying, adding to the lore of South Nashville abundant with stunning international eateries in nondescript buildings!

I visited Laura's Cocina after seeing the high ratings on Google, but my experience was somewhat mixed. I ordered the beef tripe soup and Laura's burrito, expecting a Mexican meal. However, I later realized that this is actually a Honduran restaurant, which might explain why the dishes I chose didn't fully meet my expectations. The beef tripe soup was decent, with a flavorful broth that was similar to other spots I've tried in the area. The burrito, on the other hand, was a letdown. The steak was unseasoned, and the combination of lettuce and raw onions didn't work for me. I now realize that I should have ordered Honduran specialties like baleadas or pollo con tajadas. For now, I'll give it 3 stars, but I plan to return and try the dishes that they are known for, which might change my opinion.

Yelp
Been here twice now for lunch. I absolutely love their milanesa torta. Their tacos on the homemade corn tortilla are also very good and their salsa they serve is homemade not the stuff everyone else serves that taste like pizza sauce. They have a pretty good size menu and looking forward to trying some other dishes, but its been hard not to order the torta. been hard to find good bread down here for that sandwich. As good as any I have had in Mexico and Chicago.

Yelp
I'll never get over how delicious Laura's is. No matter if we eat in or take out , it always tastes fresh and flavorful. It's in my top 5 favorite Nashville restaurants. Everyone is so nice and welcoming as well.

Yelp
If you're looking for a hidden gem with an easygoing vibe and great food, look no further than this delightful Mexican spot! I stumbled upon this place while I was in the area, and I'm so glad I did. The atmosphere here is low-key, perfect for a casual bite. There is parking behind the building. The serving staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming--they make you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in. They were very attentive without being the slightest bit intrusive. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the quesadillas! They are absolutely delicious. Perfectly crispy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside, with just the right amount of cheese and fillings. And here's the surprise bonus: karaoke! Yes, they have karaoke nights, which add a fun and lively twist to the dining experience. It's such a blast to listen along with friends and other patrons while enjoying good food and drinks. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. It's not fancy, but it's full of charm, good vibes, and genuine hospitality. Whether you're craving some great food or looking to belt out your favorite tunes, this spot is definitely worth a visit. ¡Viva la comida deliciosa y la buena música en este lugar!

Yelp
My tacos were a bit dry but I liked the family local vibe. There was also karaoke going on which was fun! Would go again and maybe try something else. The horchata was yummy :)

Yelp
The food and service here are excellent! This is not a cookie cutter standard Mexican restaurant on Nolensville road! Laura's has some original dishes that aren't common at other places like Gorditas and Sope's! Everything we ordered was so fresh and tasty! The warm chips are addicting & the salsa has great flavor! They have a great selection of flavored margaritas! You can't beat the price for the margaritas and they are literally perfect! This looks like a small hole in the wall from the outside, but inside there's plenty of space for everyone! Also plenty of parking in the back! Laura's will definitely be a regular stop in our rotation!

Yelp
Good authentic Mexican food! Customer service was great! With the plethora of Mexican restaurants on nolensville, this will be your best bet!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this Mexican restaurant! Very welcoming staff, so friendly and helpful. Lots of parking, kinda has a hole-in-the-wall feel from the outside but has a bright interior. Most importantly though...every single thing I put in my mouth was delicious! The menu was extensive with lots of meals I've never had before. Can't wait to go back and try more! The Quesabirria was perfection! Empanadas were huge, crunchy!, flavorful! The lettuce kinda had that bagged lettuce flavor, so I scraped some off but was still super happy with my meal. Definitely check them out!

Yelp
Great food. Coming from California it's hard to find out here! Juan is amazing and a real down to earth guy ! Real good margaritas !

Terri K.

Yelp
Not sure why it's this good Perhaps because the food is well prepared and without the abundance of salt ! Having tried eaten at many many places in this area for Latino/ Mexican food around this area this one is our new favorite

Yelp
Dang. Echoing the other reviews. Great food and kind folks. My wife and I (and 4 month old daughter) came early Saturday ~5pm. There was one other table occupied (probably 20 tables total), so we had our choice of seats. We started with a Piña Agua Fresca and a Mexican coke. Complimentary chips and salsa were super good. My wife and a chicken tostada and carnitas Gordita and I had the Laura's fajitas (typically not a fajitas guy, too texmex for me). These were very flavorful. Easily the best part were the handmade tortillas. We had both the corn and the flour and both were really good The flour tortillas were flavorful but thicker than most (though fluffy in a good way, slightly thinner than naan) Service was super friendly and the meal was very reasonable. We can't wait to come back to try more stuff. Maybe our favorite Latin food (definitely has that combo of mex/salvadorean/Nicaraguan/ blend)

Yelp
Lovely lunch with a personable server. Enjoyed three tasty American tacos (ground beef/steak/chicken) with work colleagues. We will be back!

Jackson S.

Yelp
Great little restaurant! Felt very homey and welcoming. As soon as we came in we were seated and our server was prompt about refilling water and suggesting what her favorite items were. The food was overall delicious, and the salsa was well seasoned! Not too hot, but not bland at all. Will definitely be coming here again.

Yelp
This was a nice find in south Nashville! Everything was fresh and as authentic as you can get in the city. My wife and I ordered the shredded chicken enchiladas with green sauce and a beef fajita burrito. Both were tasty, the green sauce was made from scratch, and the flavor was on point. We also got a horchata that was the best I've had in Nashville (a little grainy but made fresh). The flan and xango (think churro stuffed with cream cheese) were also good. The service was great and friendly and the ambience was casual but clean. Parking was easy just behind the restaurant. All in all worth a visit if you're looking for authentic Mexican/Salvadoran food that offers standard food options that's made fresh with high quality ingredients. Not mind blowing mind you but just good tasty meals.

Yelp
Honestly the best Mole I've had in Nashville. Everything we had was awesome and they handled a party of 12 with a bunch of kids with ease. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Laura B.

Yelp
The mole' is delicious and we had good food (double yum for the guacamole!!) and great service.

Mani B.

Yelp
Best Mexican Food we ever had. Most authentic mexican food at that all I can say is Laura deserves a kiss on the forehead. 10/10 did her big one !

Yelp
So, there are over 200 Mexican restaurants in 37211. I've lived at Nippers Corner for 5 years. We eat Mexican or Central American very often As it's the wife's favorite. Without a doubt this is my favorite so far. We wanted to try a variety and ordered way more than we could eat. Started with the aguachilies, then beef empanadas, Chile rellanos, enchiladas, Gordita. It was all really really good. Definitely a step above your usual Mexican restaurant.

Teresa K.

Yelp
It's Cinco de Mayo and they did not disappoint! Food was excellent and the service was even better. 2 for 1 margaritas came with a kick!
google avatar

Sara R.

Yelp
Solid food, incredible service. I came here for lunch and was not disappointed. The fresh, warm handmade tortillas and pupusas were absolutely delicious. Chips and salsa also tasted fresh. Usually a side of beans are an after thought but they were very good here. The owners are exceptionally kind, gracious, and wonderful hosts. The place itself while unassuming is clean and much bigger than it looks! The AC was also strong and it was cool inside which i super appreciated (many local mom and pop shops around Nashville seem to cut corners here which is understandable, I bet it's so expensive to keep running cool). Highly recommend ordering any dish that comes with handmade tortillas. You can tell they put so much love into their food and it tastes great. I look forward to coming back and trying more.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this place and we are so happy we did. The service was amazing and the place is spotless. The owner was perfect at helping us order and made great suggestions. We ordered Laura's enchiladas and mole chicken, both were amazing. The auga Fresca was also amazing. We ate every bite and ordered a flan to go. It was also amazing. We will be back for more very soon.

Yelp
Friendly/knowledgeable owner/staff. Everything is FRESH. I got fresh squeezed pineapple drink and my friend's little guy got the horchata drink. We ended up swapping half way through, because he loved my pineapple fresh squeeze. Gordita Carnitas and shrimp taco were both amazing! Chips and Salsa came warm to the table right after we ordered our drinks. Randomly found this place on Maps after leaving the TN Ag Center. Can't miss the sunset yellow gold building! My friend's little guy said it looked like Predator's gold. Took a chance on Laura's Cocina based on shortest distance and good reviews/ratings. So glad we found this authentic gem! They also have specials too that I will be back to try. Seemed to have a decent carry out business.

Audrey K.

Yelp
Our first visit to Laura's Cocina won't be our last! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Don't let the parking deter you - there is limited parking in front of the brightly painted building right on Nolensville Rd but more parking in the back. The interior is bright - very, very casual and spotless. The portions are huge. Excellent salsa - homemade and fresh! The crowd was light the Friday night we were there - give this new business some love, they deserve to make it!

Yelp
Small family owned Authentic Mexican food restaurant in Nashville. It's about time. When I say authentic, I mean it's not the run of the mill "Tex Mex" place that you normally see. They have fresh ingredients, all homemade from scratch when you order it. The produce is locally sourced and you can taste the freshness. I went with 3 other people and all of us agree it's our new favorite place to get fresh Mexican food. I had fajitas with homemade corn tortillas, my wife had a fajita burrito and the flavors were unbeatable. They had a couple different flavors of salsa with varying heat. I loved the tomatillo flavor the best, we also got a small bowl of queso and my absolute favorite item Guacamole Casero. The chips came to the table hot which is a big plus in my book. They have a wide variety to choose from on the menu to match anyone's taste from, Mexican to Honduran to Salvadoran. The owner's John & Yessie Lopez, came out and spoke to us while we were there. We can't say enough good things about their food. Go try it! Remember it takes a little longer to get your food, because when you order it they make it fresh, but it is totally worth the wait when the flavor and quality is this good!!

Yelp
Very nice, clean, and friendly restaurant. I enjoyed the Cerviche and side of rice...Delicious
