The Best Vietnamese Restaurants In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"With its glass chandeliers and cloud-painted ceiling, LC Pho in Lincoln Square looks like it shares the same designer as the Venetian in Las Vegas. But the Vietnamese food will have your full attention. The crispy bánh xeo or shrimp and pork spring rolls are fantastic starters, and they have excellent vermicelli bowls with juicy grilled pork chop and shrimp. The phở is also a must-order. Each bowl comes with your choice of meats like fatty tendon or thin flank steak, all served with a fragrant broth that’s basically aromatherapy for stress relief." - john ringor

The Best Restaurants In Lincoln Square

"With its glass chandeliers and cloud-painted ceiling, LC Pho looks a little bit like a lite version of the Venetian in Vegas. But that’s where the parallels end—which is great because we’ll take delicious Vietnamese food over tacky fake canals any day. The crispy banh xeo or shrimp and pork spring rolls are great, and they also have a delicious grilled pork chop and rice. But as its name states, the pho is what you’ll see on almost every table. Each bowl comes with your choice of meats like fatty tendon or thin flank steak, all served with a fragrant broth that’s basically aromatherapy for stress relief." - josh barnett, sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor

Google
LC Phở Restaurant offered a decent meal. The Pho Tai I ordered was flavorful, and the large portion was definitely worth the price. However, the service left something to be desired. While other tables received attentive service, our table seemed to be overlooked. We weren't checked on, and even paying took longer than it should have, almost leading to another customer being served before us due to a language barrier. The food was a plus, but the service needs improvement.

Google
Very clean restaurant, excellent food, solid service. The food was extremely flavorful and fresh with generous portions. I ordered B3, a vermicelli dish with shrimp and pork. The pork especially as so good. I didn't love the egg roll it came with (it was kind of heavier than most I've had in this dish) but it was ok and the rest of the dish made up for it. My boyfriend got the pho P3 with a mixture of cuts of meat including tendon, tripe, and brisket. The broth was incredible and really exceeded my expectations. We will definitely be back to try more food. Outstanding!

Google
We enjoyed our experience at L.C. Pho. Very homey feeling, and delicious food. The beef and the chicken phó were excellent. I'm looking forward to trying some of the seafood options next time.

Google

Google
The Large Pho Dac Biet came in a decent sized bowl with a fair amount of noodles and tasty broth. The meatballs were dry. They also forgot to give me a sauce plate for dipping. As for the Bun Rieu Cua (Crab Paste Noodle Soup), it was on the salty side. I noticed there was no pig blood, which is a common ingredient. When I asked, the staff said they did not give us any because it was not fresh. It would have been nice to know that before we ordered. The Grilled Clams were okay, though they were over garnished with peanuts. One of the clams had a broken shell, which did not help with the overall presentation.

This is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Chicago so far. The food are delicious and fresh. I love their friendly and welcoming vibe. It makes me feel like home. Will definitely be back soon.

Google
Best food and service so far!! We placed a big order and the LC Pho did not disappoint! The food is still warm, and fresh, and tastes amazing!

Google
The place should let you know there’s not only pho in a Vietnamese restaurant! Love the goat hotpot and the grilled fish! Perfect dishes for couple friends to share together! And for the fish you wrap it with fresh vegetables and herbs together, it’s such a fun dining experience. The goat hotpot is my favorite, the broth taste so good and comfortable, also love the skin on goat, and the best is definitely the taro when it soaked up with all the broth!

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday for lunch. From the outside it looks like a normal storefront and inside it is a modern-ish casual restaurant with loads of long tables. It looks like a Vietnamese Restaurant in an old Greek Restaurant. The menu was large and book-like. We ordered some vegetarian egg rolls (spring rolls, didn't translate correctly) to split. I ordered the vegetarian Pho and my partner ordered the Vietnamese Fried Rice with pork. We had water to drink. Our rolls came out very quickly with a peanut sauce on the side. We both thought the rolls were really tasty with the correct balance of herbs and filling. Our entrees came out one at a time, first the rice dish for my partner, followed by my Pho a few minutes later. My pho came with a side of veggies, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and thai basil. The first time seen thai basil as side veggies, and it was a great choice. The broth was very tasty for vegetarian pho and a delicious soup. My partner loved his rice dish. Overall great food, service was OK, looks like a casual Greek restaurant. We will return.

Yelp
This may be one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Chicago. Not in the Viettown neighborhood of Uptown, but on the westside neighborhood of Albany Park , LC Pho has great family style options great for group dinners. Highly recommend a full fish! Also the papaya salad is very good as is the soup. We went early for dinner so no wait and service is great ( a friend preordered). BYOB so bring your appetites and thirsts #vietnamese #family style #chicago

Yelp
I love eating here! Very authentic, delicious phở! The ambiance is clean and cozy and service is always amazing.

Yelp
I love a neighborhood classic Vietnamese restaurant - I've been here a few times, both with friends and by myself, and it's a solid spot for good Vietnamese food. The crab rangoons are decent (I've had better at other places in the city), but the coconut shrimp is delicious. I was debating that or the firecracker shrimp because I was in the mood for shrimp and asked the workers what she recommended and she confidently said coconut shrimp and she did not steer me wrong. I most recently got their pho #8 (solid pho, the beef tendon and tripe is good). Idk if it's the best pho but it's a tough competition in this city. Either way, yummy and the large fills more than a small kitchen pot (I know because I was reheating my takeout in a pot and it wasn't even the whole container). I've also had some of their bun dishes with pork / tried their cha gio and that was super good.

Yelp
This place is so great for Viet food and large portions! Servers are super nice and friendly--reminds me of childhood with random aunties and uncles who talk to you while you're eating. Spacious place. Authentic food. Can't go wrong with pho or bun bo hue. Debated getting com suon but I was craving bun thit nuong, and they definitely delivered! YUM!

Yelp
Still the best Pho I have ever had in Chicago. I haven't been since they expanded the restaurant and the menu. I didn't take a picture of the Braised Catfish but it was delicious. Next time I get double the sliced beef.

Yelp
Wonderful food overall. Always enjoy eating both in the restaurant and takeaway! I'm a sucker for the Vermicelli noodle dishes but everything I have had here has been awesome!

Yelp
This place is legit. Extensive menu full of deliciousness. This place set the bar for me for bun rieu. Just fantastic.

Yelp
We came in later in the evening (~8pm) on a weekday, and it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere felt clean and calm. We were seated quickly, but the service wasn't the best. It was our first time eating at this restaurant, so we didn't come in with any familiarity of the menu. Not even 2 minutes after receiving our menus, we were rushed by the waiter to put in our orders. I hadn't decided yet, so I asked for more time, and the waiter told me to "hurry up". I just blurted something out and didn't get to order other dishes like appetizers as a result because I didn't have much time to look over the menu. Wasn't a great start to my experience.... However, things turned around when the food came out, which is why I give this place 4 stars despite the service. The food was pretty good! The pho broth tastes like it is made from scratch. It has that full hearty flavor, and you can taste all the good spices they incorporated in the broth. It also comes in a large bowl, and it is sure to fill you up. The pork chop rice platter is also good. I'm not a fan of shredded pork, but I ate all the shredded pork on my plate. It paired so well with the fish sauce, and it wasn't dry at all. The pork was cooked well, and it was flavorful. The egg could be improved, it tasted more bland than the other elements of the dish. Finally, the tomatoes/cucumbers were a nice touch for veggies. I would come here again.

Yelp
LC pho is my go to place for Vietnamese food. Family operated restaurant that serves authentic Vietnamese food. You know it's legit when other Vietnamese dine here as well or host family parties. Their spring roll is good with peanut sauce and P3 which is their house pho with combination meats on top. They are closed on Wednesdays.

Yelp
Everything just average nothing special, the meat was little bland and chewy. could find a much better place in argyle for sure

Yelp
The beef banh mi is phenomenal. The staff are always so friendly. Great welcoming family vibe in there too.

Yelp
Although I haven't been to LC Pho in awhile I had a taste this past Sunday for their delicious spring rolls, and knew I had to make a visit. They're just okay, they're still fresh, filled with shrimp, mint, cucumber, but missing the wafer they used to put in them. What I didn't like about this place was it wasn't as friendly as it used to be, like when Audra (?) was there, she was always welcoming. Just wondering if this place changed hands?? The person who took my order (new owner??) wasn't very friendly, so I didn't feel like tipping him! Also I kept on noticing food particles on the kitchen floor while the cook was preparing my order and I also noticed a lot of dirty dishes left on the tables after the previous customers left, this really left a bad taste in my mouth. BTW, not surprised there was a cockroach in somebody's carryout order, so sanitary conditions are not the best at LC Pho! Which begs the question, what are you really getting here? I want to know these kind of things before I decide to patronize a place. Another thing I didn't like was how much they they jacked up their prices?? $8 for (2) spring rolls, which I believe used to be around $4.50!!! Even their carryout menu had high prices for a supposedly budget restaurant, which is a definite game-changer for me. So NOT going back!

Yelp
I ordered a tofu vegetarian banh mi. Inside, there was tofu, cucumbers, cilantro, and jalapeños. The tofu was lightly marinated and the bread had a touch of mayonnaise. Bread texture was soft and chewy. It was not a big sandwich but it satisfied my hunger. The taste was delicious and ingredients were all fresh for just $10.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the Cat Fish! It is a special treat. Today we are here for a warm bone in chicken pho. The basil and mung bean sprouts are always fresh. Broth is flavorful. The lime punches the flavorful broth. Spring rolls perfect healthy appetizer with peanuts and sauce. Crepe is full of shrimp, pork and vegetables. Crepe light and crunchy. Light sauce adds flavor. Service is quick and friendly. Always positive and smiles.

Kelvin Moon L.

Yelp
The food is great! The Pho is served piping hot and the broth is perfection. Fried pork egg rolls are a must. Tried a bite of the grilled pork vermicelli and it was so delicious with fresh ingredients! The people who work there are so nice. I can't wait to go back and try more stuff but I'm officially addicted to their pho. I've also had it delivered before and it's just as good at home!!!

Yelp
So glad that we found this hidden gem in Lawrence, Chicago. All the items we got were fresh and delicious. The owner is very nice and funny. They sell dessert plates and tropical fruits too!

Yelp
I arrived to what seemed like a chaotic environment and after waiting for 15 minutes and I was seated after someone noticed. However once seated, I ordered the Beef Pho with eye of round steak and it was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the beef Bahn Mi to go and it was equally delicious. However, I think there needs to be some thought into the organization because I waited around 20 minutes to get my check and tab out. However, this can be understandable if they were understaffed and having to serve large tables with over 15 patrons.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place because a friend of a friend highly recommended it. Sadly, it fell short of our expectations in both the food quality and the state of the location. Upon entry to the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the smell. It wasn't stinky or awful but just enough not-too-welcoming odor for a restaurant. Our table was sticky and the floor on the way to the bathroom was also sticky. The food was just okay, I've had better Vietnamese food. The server even forgot my order of juice drink which I didn't bother to remind since she seemed too busy when there were only two other tables occupied in the whole restaurant aside from ours. We don't plan to be back there anytime soon.

Yelp
holy smokes. such delicious, fresh food. the veggie pho is my go to. the salt and pepper tofu is so delicious. the beef bahn mi is the best i have tasted - seasoning and spice is perfection. holy recommend starting with the spring rolls!!

Yelp
Sliced beef pho, shrimp spring rolls and banh mi sandwich. My 2nd time here. The owners are so nice. I've anointed this my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant.

Sandra K.

Yelp
I ordered a takeout last minute. They were nice and accommodating. I saw many good reviews and decided to give it a try. But once is enough, I won't be coming back. The food tasted bad and was not edible. Maybe they rushed through and accidentally added too much spice to the pho.
google avatar

Tried a bite of the grilled pork vermicelli and it was so delicious with fresh ingredients! The people who work there are so nice. Yelp
Bun Bo Hue is a huge standout, so flavorful and the herbs served with the noodle dishes are all so fresh. Such kind staff, great restaurant for bringing kids as well!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered crab rangoon, egg rolls, shrimp fried rice, and chicken pho; $42 later I'm a little disappointed. The crab rangoon tasted like just melted cream cheese and fried wonton, no imitation crab or green onion inside or at least it wasn't detectable. The egg rolls lacked flavor like they needed salt or something, I couldn't put my finger on it. The chicken in my pho had been boiled/ poach too long and had a gritty/ dry texture to it but the broth was tasty. The star was the shrimp fried rice, the shrimp were nice and big and seasoned well. I'll probably try another restaurant before I come back here, there's so many other Vietnamese spots in Albany park. This was a carry out order, but the staff was friendly and it looked cleaned inside so points for that.
google avatar

Lois L.

Yelp
In my opinion one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in the area. They cater to Vietnamese people, meaning the food is more authentic than some other restaurants. LC is also a great place to order catering for parties if you need catered Vietnamese food. We had a large group with us and called ahead and ordered a few dishes like the fried fish and beef for spring rolls so it would be ready before we got there. This is a good idea if you have a big group and want a lot of food. The servers here were so nice and got us whatever we needed. I loved all of the food as seen in the photos!

Monika Z.

Yelp
The vegetarian pho wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. There is one size for the vegetarian pho. It is smaller than the large pho size.
google avatar

Lan D.

Yelp
The food was ok, but they will charge you extra for extra sauce ( mắm nêm ,or bánh trán, ...) with MAKE NO SENSE. My friend went there for a group of 4 people last time and this time we went for a group of 6 people, ofcourse the sauce and rice papers for Cá Nướng and Bò Lá Lốp was the same portion for 4 pp. 4$ for extra rice papers 3$ for extra sauce per small portion.
google avatar

Edwin C.

Yelp
It's much nicer and more spacious than it was before. If you're not willing to go all the way to Viet town for your Vietnamese fix this place could work for you. I was a bit disheartened that our server didn't enforce the mask policy. Couldn't help but notice he was more lenient to the Vietnamese speaking customers than anyone else. On top of that he did not even ask for a photo ID when we showed our vaccination card. Just assumed that was ours. All the while not even checking to see if the Vietnamese customers actually had a vaccination card. He just took their word for it on top of not enforcing their mask policy. They just waltzed in with no masks.

Sean H.

Yelp
The Pho Tai should be illegal. I cannot get enough of it, it's better than drugs. Every time I eat it I feel like Popeye eating Spinach. Rejuvenated. Unstoppable. Like I just met God. LC Pho -- be there or be squared.
google avatar

Madeleine B.

Yelp
I was longing for some good pho and this place was nearby and highly rated. We shared the beef spring rolls, lemongrass beef bahn mi, and shredded chicken pho. The beef spring rolls were great, albeit they could have done with more beef. The sauce in particular was a highlight. The bahn mi was decent, but not the best I've had. The beef was a little rubbery and the bread could have been softer. The pho was wonderful. It's perfect for a cold day, or really any day. So comforting. The chicken was juicy and the broth was so clean. Definitely coming back for some more pho!

Lorraine N.

Yelp
This is the best pho I ever had!! I have no words to describe how good it is. You won't regret if you try this.

Yelp
Great Vietnamese restaurant in town. The best dip fried fish with rice papers wraps, and lots of good foods. I go back here very often and I just in love!
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
I found this place in a search for faster healthier takeout for the family and I'm so glad I did. I will be back to try more traditional Vietnamese cuisine while dining in.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly this is the best vegan pho in the city. Try the fresh pressed sugar cane drink! It's amazing.
google avatar

Sarah N.

Yelp
I hosted a large 30 people dinner party here. They were very accommodating and the food was amazing! This is NOT your typical americanize restaurant. This is an authentic deep rooted vietnamese cuisine. The best vietnamese restaurant I've tried in years! Try their delicious goat hotpot. Your tummy will thank you
google avatar

Vu V.

Yelp
Charge me $5 for an extra sauce i ask for the fried fish which already cost $60. The waiter gave it to me and the owner come by and ask to pay $5 extra. Which is way too much for extra dipping sauce. I don't support stingy owner.
google avatar

Yelp
Let me start off with : I'm Vietnamese (from south Vietnam) and looooveee my traditional Vietnamese food: however, I'm pretty particular when it comes to pho. It has to taste like my mom's or the bowls of pho from Saigon, Vietnam. Anyway, I generally love the pho and bun bo hue from LC, and was afraid that after their remodeling and expansion of the menu that the quality of food would decline. I'm happy to report that the quality of food is still excellent!!! We ordered bun bo hue, pho, bo la lot, grilled snails, and com suon last night. I wish I had taken a picture of the food but we were so excited about the food that we didn't stop to think about a photo. Everything was fresh and delicious. Everything had the traditional Vietnamese flavor; even the sauce for bo la lot was traditional and strong. I'm still thinking about the food today. The restaurant is clean and well lit. The service was extraordinary and the owner was so lovable. My four year old daughter wanted pho but we knew she wouldn't be able to finish their "small" bowl, but the owner heard her and said he'd make a "baby bowl" for her- he even had the meat balls and meat all cut up! I cannot rave about them enough. I'm not related to anyone there and I don't get anything out of posting about this. I'm just soooo excited and happy to have a traditional Vietnamese restaurant so close to home!
google avatar

Son P.

Yelp
Definitely the best pho I've had in Chicagoland. Broth is clean and tasty with alot of flavors with fresh meat. I was surprised at the first sip because I was expecting the usual mediocre non-homemade taste. Place just got remodeled and it looks great. Friendly staff and good service. New favorite spot!

Hien T.

Yelp
Best place in town! Great customer service and fantastic food. Definitely recommend !!
google avatar

Noell C.

Yelp
The restaurant was nice on the inside & had plenty of space. The staff was responsive and kept our drinks full. The pho was the best I've ever had as well and well-made with fresh ingredients. Would recommend!

Juan Luis M.

Yelp
I had the com tam, broken rice and pork chop. Meat was a little on the salty side for my taste. The owner staff were really nice. The cha gio was not very good. I hear their signature dish is the fish but we didn't try. I probably won't go here again unless someone in my party wants to try the fish.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
The food deserves 4 stars it was good and we all enjoyed the food. The service was horrible I think the day we went there was only 1 waiter and it took forever to get our food and they even forgot banh xeo and when we were almost done with our meal he said it was coming and we told him to just cancel it since we were done eating. Then it took another 15 mins to just pay. The food was good and worth the drive but hopefully they get more staffing.
google avatar

Yelp
AMAZING! My first time ever having Pho soup was in L.A. Since then it's been hard finding a restaurant to live up to the favors of L.A Pho. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls (comes with two huge rolls) The rolls are packed with fresh lettuce, rice noodles, shredded carrots something crunchy like a chip. It's served with a peanuts sauce that's thick and also flavorful. Now to the Pho. I order the shredded chicken Pho. The the soup was very filling and tasty! Plenty of bean sprouts, rice noodles, fresh basal, lime, jalapenos and CHICKEN! The chicken it self is seasoned just right were you can taste all the flavors even after mixing it all together. Definitely coming back !
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
This place never disappoints! There are so many Vietnamese places around, but this one takes the top spot for me. The staff is always friendly and the food beyond amazing (probably why we order from them so often). The pho is out of this world but if you are looking to try something outside of pho, their papaya salad is everything! So happy this place reopened
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
Ordered on line, we are still in a pandemic! On line prices are not up to date and there's extra $2 charge for I'm not sure what on top of the price increase. When I bring it up at pick up, the staff states, "oh yeah, the manager was supposed to do something about that." The spring rolls were tasteless and the pho was super salty. No plans to order from there or eat there again.
google avatar

Genesis F.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love LC Pho! We've tried other pho places out of curiosity for something new and so far we always end up wishing we would have gone to LC. I usually get the vegetable pho with the regular tofu and my boyfriend always gets the Thai pho. They give you a generous amount of basil, lime, jalapeño, and bean sprouts which is always awesome. I love drizzling a good amount of their spicy garlic sauce. That stuff is damn good! During the summer they have fried Oreos and those are delicious as well!
google avatar

Toni B.

Yelp
Two words..YASSSSSS PLEASE!! I came here with my daughter and my girlfriend and her two kids. Definitely a small place, more meant for takeout but there are a handful of tables to grab a bite to eat at. I ordered the tofu vegetable pho that was amazing with egg tofu (that was kind of fried). The flavors were amazing and my taste buds were having a party in my mouth! My daughter actually enjoyed the chicken they made for her, which is a big plus for me!!! Bonus...they sell cans of Cafe du Monde Coffee for 5.50 a can? Yes please! My new favorite Vietnamese spot!!!!

Jessica L.

Yelp
This is by far the best vegetarian pho I have ever had. Vegetable dumplings were also delicious, and did not have soy meat inside like many other places and instead was actual veggies. I got takeout and everything was packaged separately for the pho - which was perfect. Absolutely will visit again and you should too!
