The 38 Best Restaurants in Omaha, Nebraska | Eater

"With an artistic, new French atmosphere and an ever-changing selection of interesting natural wines, this spot in the heart of the Old Market has become a downtown staple. Highlights include the Bouillon burger, a juicy roast chicken, and a revamped version of the French onion soup that was served years ago at the French Cafe, the long-running business that formerly inhabited the same location. Le Bouillon’s sister wine shop, Howard Street Wine Merchant, next door is a popular choice for afternoon tastings, and there’s also a basement wine bar beneath both businesses, Mon Cave, that pours natural wines and bottled cocktails." - Sarah Baker Hansen

I had a really great time at this place. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and it had a nice, relaxed vibe that made the whole evening enjoyable. The wine was excellent, and all the drinks we tried were really tasty. They had a good variety to choose from, and everything was made well. Our waiter was super kind and very helpful. He made sure we had everything we needed and gave us good suggestions from the menu. One of the highlights of the meal was the frog legs – they were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. I would definitely order them again. The portion sizes were huge! You get a lot of food for the price, which was a nice surprise. It really felt like a good value. I ordered the chicken dish – the flavor was nice, though the chicken was just a little dry. But honestly, everything else on the plate made up for it. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the setting was lovely. I really enjoyed my visit and would be happy to come back again.

I’ve been to Le Bouillon multiple times over the years, but I’ve never been fully satisfied with their dishes, which at best are just average. However, I can see the restaurant being a great venue for dates or events—the ambiance is warm, inviting, and chic, arguably one of the best in Omaha. Their food, for catering purposes, wouldn’t be the worst. The service is excellent, and the wine selection is well-curated, but ultimately, the food just doesn’t stand out. I tend to prefer La Buvette over Le Bouillon.

The food here is usually very good but today for some reason every dish we ordered came out to be on the sour side. We ordered the 4 SHRIMP & SUMMER SUCCOTASH ramp, corn, peppers, NASHVILLE FRIED FROG LEGS, pickled celery, caper ranch, ATLANTIC OYSTERS, half dozen, celery root mignonette, lemon*, FRENCH ONION SOUP, comté grantin, BROWN BUTTER TROUT, haricots verts, castelfranco, hazelnut*, NIMAN RANCH LAMB SCHNITZEL, brussels, mustard, pommes pure. SALADE BOUILLON, olive, carrot, radish, sunflower, pecorino, mustard. I don't if was meant to be like this or not. Some were ok but some were just too sour to eat.

There was live music playing down the street, birds singing our entire time here and the server was AMAZING!!! The Bouillon salad with steak, impeccable. Great wine selection, fabulous art, dreamy all around!

Food was good (my 4 star is ‘cause french fries were so salty), but the dessert was amazing 🤤Service was also good, but sometimes we had to wait for someone available.

Had a lovely lunch here while traveling for work. The trout was phenomenal, the waitress was delightful, and the patio was lovely. The only thing I would say is that the patio could use a little more decoration, but it was the beginning of the warm weather so I might have just missed it! But overall I had a gorgeous lunch and will be back if I end up in Omaha again!

Le Bouillon is not only a fantastic restaurant, it's also one of the best kept secret wedding venues in Omaha! I got married here two weeks ago and we are still getting compliments from guests about how amazing the food and service was and how beautiful the restaurant is! Not only did we not have to rent or really bring anything other than the decorations we wanted, but the cost to rent out the restaurant all goes to food and drinks! Le Bouillon is easily one of the most affordable wedding venues in Omaha! It also has an event planner, Katie who amazing and so helpful! She helped with every detail of wedding planning. During the lead up she was in communication about food, guest count, allergies, day of schedule--all of the things you need to know but don't necessarily know you need to know. She and her assistant Mackenzie were there the day of the wedding too to help with coordination and with anything that would come up. They also helped with guest wrangling from the ceremony (which was in the Mirror Room and was absolutely GORGEOUS) and made sure that my husband and I always had a drink in our hand and were good! We had the most amazing day and I can't thank Katie, Mackenzie, and the rest of Le Bouillon enough! If you're looking for a fun event space that is reasonable in cost, absolutely stunning, and one that will take care of you and your guests, you should ABSOLUTELY contact Katie!

After hearing good reviews about the restaurant, I decided to celebrate my 25th birthday here. From beginning to end, the service and experience was very uncomfortable. It felt as though there was a reluctance to serve a table of people who were regarded as “kids” instead of paying customers. While my friends who were with me are all younger than I am, we should also be able to experience and enjoy “fine dining”. About 15 minutes after dessert while paying the check and talking, the manager came to our table and asked us to leave as we had been there for too long. I’ve never been rushed out of a location especially when celebrating an event. My party was not loud or disruptive to other guests. We stayed the amount of time it took to eat all our courses. If we had been made aware there was a time limit during dining that would have been more than acceptable however, no one made us aware and so it was embarrassing being asked to leave in the middle of the restaurant. The food was nothing special, for the price point I expected more. Overall a huge buzzkill and disappointing way to celebrate my 25th birthday.

Yelp
The restaurant is located in old downtown Omaha that have brick paved streets, large old buildings with merchant names on the fronts, restaurant, bars, shopping. Dinner was at Le Bouillon French restaurant which was bright, inviting lively art, flowers and a spectacular wine room that you can pick a bottle if you prefer. The staff were friendly, smiles and great service. We started with oysters and Champagne which were delightful and we split the Duroc pork chop paired with an Italian wine. I actually picked that bone up and clean it well, I wasn't going to leave that goodness behind. We finished with tawny port They had a phone booth that was great for a photo shoot. A fun vibrant night!

Yelp
We went to Le Bouillon for a goodbye celebration for a friend, and overall, I really enjoyed it. It's definitely a great spot if you're looking for a fancy dinner. Most of us ordered from their regular menu, but one of my friends went for the four-course dinner. I will say service was a bit slow and the food took quite a while to come out, even though the place wasn't very busy. But when it did arrive, it was worth the wait because the food was delicious! I had the steak and it was so flavorful. My friends also mentioned they really enjoyed their plates. One thing to keep in mind if you're going with a bigger group: they don't split checks individually. Also, it's a bit on the pricey side, but perfect for a special occasion.

Yelp
It's been a while since we were last at Le Bouillon for the dinner service and I have been looking forward to dining there for brunch for a while, but had not made it back there till recently. Here is my brunch review: The brunch menu is small, but covers both sweet and savory. Cocktails are available in the form of bloody's, mimosa and and a couple of unique cocktails from Le B. If you so choose, the raw bar (oysters, tartare, and salmon) can fix a craving, or the charcuterie selections will impress a friend who loves cured meat. We did an order of the Kaiserschmarrn (Austrian pancake) which was light, fluffy and delicious-definitely the reason I would return. The berry topping and whipped butter mixed with a light but flavorful syrup gave these pancakes a great gift to the palate. The eggs in a basket was a miss for me-the texture of the bread was crumbly and dry, and I didn't like the flavor. The pommes frites were yummy as they came out hot and fresh and the over easy eggs were made correctly. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. It was a relaxing atmosphere to dine in at 1pm on a Sunday and the bill was reasonable at $30. I would come back for the pancakes, for sure!

Yelp
The breakfast was amazing--the picanha steak was delicious, and the asparagus and roasted potatoes were both savory. Came first thing on a Sunday morning, and my girlfriend and I were warmly greeted by the host who was also our waiter, since it was a slow start to the day. Ambiance was warm and light. We walked, though, we observed that parking was limited to metered (free after 9pm on weekdays, free on Sunday's if I'm not mistaken!) 10/10 would return!

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing!! I can not recommend it more. We have been here a few times, and each time we got the tasting menu which was well thought out and decently priced! Right as we walked in the offered to take our coats and led us to our table. They staff was very attentive, even offering me a purse hanger. They have an extensive wine list, so we began our meal with a bottle of riesling which was crisp and refreshing. We went there for valentines day and did the chef's menu. I am gluten free and they were very accommodating with altering the dishes slightly. I started with the smoked white fish on a delicious creamy dill spread. Then had the tuna for my main which was FANTASTIC and finished with a chocolate mouse- the perfect dinner. The ambiance is moody and I loved how the tables were spaced to feel like you had your own little private dining area. There is also so much fun art on the walls to look at. This paired with the white bricks made it the perfect place to enjoy good company, good drinks, and AMAZING food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What a beautiful decorated restaurant in Old Market! Serving French inspired dishes. We got two different steak dishes. The filet I got was cooked perfectly medium rare. Loved the fries. We thought the drinks could've been better. We made reservations but did not need to because it seemed as we were the first guests of the night. My boyfriend is French so this restaurant has been on his list for awhile so I'm glad we were able to come try it!

Yelp
The food was really good and the service was too. Love how they have a bar and a wine shop. Something for everyone.

Yelp
This meal was worth it! And dining in a cute, historic building always sets the vibe right away. We started with drinks, which I loved so much that I forgot about pictures. I had the punch, which was sweet but not so much so that it hurt my stomach. For appetizers, we got French onion soup, clams and the tomato tonato. The French option soup was a burst of flavor with the perfect amount of melted gruyere on top. Word on the street is they use veil broth which would explain the rich flavor! The clams were tossed with a broth, beans and kale. I'm not a huge fan of any of those ingredients alone, but together, they paired so well. The tomato dish was juicy and fresh, impressive at this time of year that they got that quality of produce. For entrees, my husband and I split the chicken and burger. We usually shy away from chicken because it can be boring, but this dish was far from it. It was so juicy and well cooked. It was paired with beautiful mushrooms and a crispy-ish potato dumpling that balanced the chicken nicely. The burger... wow. House made and high quality, it was easily of the best patties I've had in this city. The shoestring fries they served with it were also perfectly cooked and tasted good even without the aioli that came with it. We also got a bottle of wine with our meal. The selection they had was extensive and decently priced. Throughout the experience, our server was kind, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely return!

Yelp
My partner and I have been doing this thing where we try French restaurants and the duck everywhere we go, and this week I realized we hadn't given Omaha a chance. I had heard of this spot from a colleague and decided to give it a try. Walking in, there was only 2 other diners but it was a Monday evening so I set my skepticism aside. My first glance at the menu left me a bit disappointed. The menu I had seen online had several items that intrigued me but what I was seeing in person was quite different. I was disappointed. I considered leaving but decided to give it a shot. Now I would compare this dining experience to a musical score. This particular composure started off with a steady build. The pre-dinner drinks - the rooibos old fashioned for me, and the chamo Collins (with gin) for the lady were pretty decent. Then the appetizers upped the excitement and the tempo. We got the tartare + frites. While this was good, the beef was a bit too chunky for me. At this point, we should be bursting with excitement for the crescendo that is the main course. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The duck frites fell flat. The skin did have a nice crisp to it though. The saving grace of the whole thing was desert. The basque cheesecake which was brûléed with what I assume was a custard brought us right back to a peak. Service, otherwise, was great! We love to share meals and they accommodated us very easily. The hostess was very friendly and the food came out well-spaced out and timed.

Yelp
My husband surprised me with a visit to Le Bouillon for my birthday, and it was pretty dang nice, if a little bit stuffy/quiet for the type of food/vibe I usually gravitate toward. The ambiance is arty with a large mosaic sculpture being the focal point of the space. It definitely feels upscale and airy, so it did fit for the romantic atmosphere my husband was wanting. Don't get me wrong on the food; everything was expertly cooked and plated beautifully. It just wasn't so much my style, but I did come to it with an open mind and enjoyed a lot of the items. We started with the Tartine and Lox. It came as a large cracker, with a creamy spread as the base and flowery little strips of lox with pickled veggies. It looked gorgeous and tasted very flavorful with the components all working together perfectly. For my entree, I chose the Hanger Steak with Root Vegetables and added a crab cake on top. I absolutely loved the steak and the crab cake, which were both seasoned to perfection and sitting in a heavenly tarragon cream sauce. But the root vegetables I could have done without. I usually like earthy flavored things, but these were a little too heavy on that, in addition to being the largest component of the dish. My husband got the Duck Breast, which came with a bed of carrots, beans, and duck fat. It was so tasty and each piece worked together on the plate so well. I definitely recommend this over the dish I got. We got two desserts, and both were decadently divine: -Olive Oil Cake: This was on special when we were there and our waitress said it was definitely not as sweet as other desserts, but if you like more "muted" sweetness, like cornbread, you might like it. She was absolutely correct - it was almost exactly like corn bread, but without a corn flavor. More just a buttery bread flavor, but topped with a delicious blueberry compote and homemade whipped cream. -Chocolate Tart: Our second dessert was definitely more desserty - a big hunk of chocolate mousse with cherries and cherry drizzle on top. You can't go wrong with anything chocolate and cherry, and this was the perfect example of that. Not too much sweetness in the chocolate mousse, so the extra sweet cherry components could really sing. Overall, I think Le Bouillon has a lot of great things to choose from, but you definitely have to be in the right mood to dine there!

Yelp
I went here for Valentine's Day and it was the perfect vibe for that. It's definitely on my list now for a nicer date setting. Our waiter was awesome. He gave us recommendations and have really accurate descriptions of what we ordered. The Filet Mignon Tartare was really good it was my first time having a beef tartare so I was a little skeptical, but I really liked it. I wasn't 100% sold on the creamy texture but that's a me issue. I got the Plum Creek Farm Chicken which was the best chicken I've ever had hands down. It was massive so I didn't even get through half of it but it was delicious. I was not a huge fan of the veggies. I can't really describe the taste, I would say maybe a little vinegary which wasn't my favorite. My boyfriend got the Lamb Schnitzel and really liked it. He said he didn't like the veggies on top on their own but combined with everything else he loved it. I would definitely come again.

Yelp
Food is mediocre. Plate just felt lazy and empty for the price/quality/hype honestly. I love steak frites, eat it often, I didn't have any expectations as I normally just book a reservation to a place and go, but, there's only so many ways you can make steak and potatoes and somehow it still missed the mark. Ambiance was also off, the servers definitely were timely but it felt overall like an unwelcoming underwhelming experience.

Yelp
Four stars for Le Bouillon. Solid food and ambience, ok service and attention to detail. I went with a small group, and on the whole, everyone enjoyed their dishes. The boeuf bourguignon was a favorite, and for good reason... The beef was absolutely fall-apart tender with great flavor. The veg was all well-seasoned and fresh. A tasty rendition. The fillet Wellington was also quite nice. Perfectly cooked. The filet is definitely the star of the plate. I understand not having an entire bowl of broccoli on the side, but the three tiny sprigs on the plate looked a little out of proportion. It was cooked perfectly, I wanted more! The potatoes were a little on the dry side, not creamy. I was a little disappointed by the meat and cheese board. The bread wasn't my favorite; I thought it was kind of bland, and the bottom was actually quite burnt, so I'm surprised they served it. The board looked a little haphazard and was a somewhat different from what the server said was going to be featured. I loved the interior and ambience, the greenery and twinkle lights for the holiday season. They've got a neat space. Our service was just OK. Our server seemed a little distracted, like he wasn't giving us his full attention.

Yelp
had a wonderful dinner as always! Love the punch and the new menu. had the squash soup and the cod my friend had the French onion soup and the roast chicken. All of our meals were beautiful and delicious.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times trying to give place a chance and been disappointed every time. Service is great and the ambience is decent which is why I give 3 stars. The food? Forgettable at best. I have had the rotisserie chicken at one time and it was undercooked in certain parts and chewy/overburnt in others. Basically inedible. The cassoulet was ok. Onion soup? Would say its decent. The schnitzel was bad, it felt like it eating breaded cardboard. The best highlight of all the times I've been? The bread service. They had an amazing carrot butter. Honestly cannot recommend it. Being in Omaha, there's way better places that offer more palatable experiences.

Yelp
My wife and I went here for a valentines date. We had some fries as an appetizer as well as the bread plate. For main course she had the beef bourguignon and I had beef Wellington. The service was fantastic and the food was good. For the price I just didn't feel like the meals matched our expectations. The bourguignon and the beef Wellington were good but not any better than our homemade bourguignon and beef wellington. Seems like the fanciness of the restaurant doesn't align with the presentation and quality of the dishes. Still a 4 star experience just nothing that stood out to make me want to come back when Omaha has some much better options in the same price range.

Yelp
So my wife and I eat here! It was nothing less than amazing. Great experience. Wine was on point. Food was fantastic. Ambiance was super cool. Classic simple Black and Gray. Super nice. Let's get into the service, first our waiter was the best. Picked an amazing wine to pair with the meal, Was super on the wine poor and great at checking on us. But it was not super over done! Again classy. If you go please asked for another he was the best. A++++++++++++. For Anthony alone. Restrooms were super clean. Hand soap smelled out of this world.... Refreshing to eat at a place like this don't miss out on the meat and cheese plate...

Chloe S.

Yelp
Amazing food! Best chicken I have had in my entire life! Beef taretare was also wonderful. Will be returning!

Yelp
Ever since Dario's closed Le Bouillon has been my favorite French spot. Attended their 10th anniversary for a Beaujolais tasting that included 24 different options as well as a small selection of menu items from the kitchen. There were 3 presentations as well to learn more about Beaujolais wines. This was quite the fun event for me as I'm trying to expand my wine knowledge. Was able to pick out some bottles of the favorite wines sampled on the way out. Really fun event from an already established restaurant, here's to another 10 years!

Yelp
Our private party started off with hors-d'oeuvres consisting of charcuterie, a cheese plate and cocktail shrimp. General par for the course and nothing spectacular. The service however was impressive to say the least. After momentary mingling we sat and was provided a starter salad with buttered bread. Once the salad was done and removed the main attraction appeared. Beef Wellington and rotisserie chicken both of which were cooked excellently and offered great flavor. It was my first time in Omaha but I'd come back here if I ever went again.

Yelp
Decided to come in last minute on a Friday around 3pm, it happened to be during happy hour and we got to pick our own seat and enjoyed a corner near a heater. There were only a handful of people there. They claim to have happy hour but everything we ordered was full price, so I think they have a small selection of what's priced down or that you get a deal on. Champagne was wonderful. Oysters were not, he kept biting into part of the shell and sand. The fries were delicious, crispy, thin and covered in olive oil + Parmesan but the tartare was tasteless. And finally, caviar...it was our first time ever having and we just weren't big fans. All in all, the ambiance and atmosphere brings the stars to 3, whereas we would not make a special trip just for the food.
google avatar

Jeremy W.

Yelp
The place is located in one of the most charming areas in Omaha in a fantastic venue. Unfortunately the server was terrible. He actually rolled his eyes at my friend's request. Difficult to recover from his rudeness which clouded the experience and food. I won't go back.
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
Loved loved loved the food at Le Bouillon. My favorite dish was the fresh onion soup. There was a different flare to the soup. It added an extra flavor to the dish but still kept it traditional. I will be back just for the soup. We also enjoyed the stuff duck, which was amazing. The skin was crispy and stuffed with sauage. Yum. The last dish was the Morgan Ranch Strip. A lot of flavor and cooked to perfection. A wonderful experience overall and the staffing was extremely nice. My favorite part was the wine store connected to the restaurant. You can buy a bottle and just pay the cork fee.

Yelp
I came here as it just opened for the day (at 2 p.m. CST) and the inside looked amazing. I chose to be seated all the way in the back, so I could we everything. What I ordered: - Lump crab gougère: I forgot that this was a canapé and while delicious, I'd probably forego it again as it wasn't worth the quantity and price. $9 - Bread service: I love bread and butter, and am a sucker for it anywhere, so I had to try what Le Bouillon was serving. I got spelt wheat and sourdough, with fresh butter (left jar), tomato-peavh jam (centre jar), and mustard (right jar). $9 It was filling and with the soup was a great combination. - Pumpkin soup: This was the star of my meal and I cannot recommend it enough, particularly during autumn/winter - filling, soothing, hearty, but not heavy. The basil oil was a wonderful touch and swirled in beautifully. $11 - Infantado tawny port: A dessert wine thats a more affordable version to the Graham's tawny port one. Really good and paired well with the bread and soup combination. $12 Since I was the only diner, the service was attentive but not overbearing or chatty, which I always appreciate.

Yelp
A beautiful, classy interior. Romantic and intimate. The perfect place to grab a glass of wine with some olives. The food is fine. I would definitely recommend the bullion burger.
google avatar

Maggie E.

Yelp
Looking for a solid French onion soup? Le Bouillon has you covered! I would also recommend the rotisserie chicken and stuffed duck. The food quality is high and the portions generous. Service was a bit slow and the music was a little off-kilter compared to what I'd expect for a French restaurant, but overall a positive dining experience.
google avatar

Jasmine B.

Yelp
The service is great! Our server was Molly and she was an absolute sweetheart. I commented on how a wine was too sweet for me and even tho I had already ordered she brought out some other wines for me to try before sticking to one. She was so attentive! The food was ooookayyyy. The steak was great, nothing bad to say there BUT the French onion soup was sooooo salty! It's probably the saltiest French onion soup I've ever had. I had maybe a few bites and then tried to mix in the cheese to cut the salt but eventually gave up. The ambiance was classy. There was an adjacent wine shop with a very neat wine tasting experience. It felt like we had been transported to an upscale restaurant in France!

Yelp
Stopped in for dessert. It was strangely dead for a Friday night (9pm) inside except for one large party in the back. Service was great. The atmosphere was just...quiet but odd with not many others in the restaurant. We ordered olive oil cake, creme brulee, and coffee. The creme brulee was the best. Overall, it was OK, just a bit underwhelming with no one in the restaurant, no music, and only 4 dessert options which didn't offer a lot of variety. I definitely would like to go back for dinner.

Yelp
Great food & very unique. Staff was great and very attentive. they were very accommodating last minute booking for 10 people, we sat in their wine cellar area which was nice a intimate but we didn't feel hidden or forgotten about!!

Yelp
My wife and I came in for dinner on a Saturday evening. Made reservations conveniently thru their website. The service was fantastic. Very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food was exquisite. We tried to keep it light with the meat and cheese. My wife has to eat gluten free and they were over the top accommodating which is fantastic! Definitely a five star experience and would love to come back and sample more. They do have a nice cocktail selection as well.

Michael L.

Yelp
Over priced for what you get..small portions not what you expect for a high end restaurant. Menu is not up to date..went there for specific food and couldnt order it. Atmosphere is good, but staff unprofessionally dressed and not up go par for what you pay.. I will not go back, gave it a chance, but i will take my yard earned money elsewhere and get a better meal.

Yelp
My first time at this French delight in the Old Market in Omaha. I went in a work lunch and was glad to find a simple menu to choose from. There was one pasta dish, a duck entree, and for me- a swordfish dish with lentils and a fried green tomato. They open at noon and we got there right on time for a great corner window table. Good food, lovely server and great choice for a Thursday afternoon.

Yelp
I had the pork Wellington which was delicious!! My wife had the burgers and frites. The bread service was good. They did forget to bring my the french onion soup i ordered but they were very apologetic. Great ambiance. Vintage building was so cool!!! Will be back to check it out again.

Yelp
I have been coming here for several years. The food is delicious. I would recommend the Bouillon Burger and the Hangar Steak. The ambience is beautiful and classy, reminiscent of a vintage restaurant in the heart of France. A wine shop is attached offering excellent good selection of French wines to enjoy with your meal if you like. Service here is always excellent.

Yelp
I really liked, but my partner was more skeptical. Cocktails were good, bread appetizer was good , olives were good (although there were a Lot of them). Entrees are better characterized as fine.

Yelp
We made reservations at Le Bouillon to celebrate some small accomplishments at work and try a new restaurant. We were beyond happy with our choice. Le Bouillon is located in the Old Market, in a renovated fruit warehouse. The restaurant has kept so many original architectural and operational items, like the large fruit scale, floor tiles, and exposed brick. If your dining party is looking for something that is architecturally interesting with modern art and sculptures, the ambiance at Le Bouillon will deliver. After choosing a bottle of wine in the restaurant's attached wine cellar, we ordered the smoked trout canapé to start. It was smooth, salty, and smoky. Plenty to share between two. We followed up our main course with the duck frites and a special, monkfish Wellington. The duck was perfectly cooked, the frites gorgeously crispy and salty, and a peppercorn sauce tied the entire dish together. The monkfish wellington was a nice change from the traditional beef, well balanced with delicious vegetables on the side. I didn't get photos of dessert, but it was exceptional. The basque cheesecake was the clear winner, but the pot de creme is a must for any chocolate lover. Overall, we loved our experience at Le Bouillon and it is easily one of our top three date night picks.

Yelp
Bar seating: David Drink: Sauternes, pinot blanc Foods: Pork Rillettes Tartine, Jambon de Bayonne Charcuterie Experience: Exquisite. Le Bouillon is an Omaha treasure, and particularly in its lovely environs in the Old Market. I've since moved away from Omaha and languish at the lack of truly attentive, engaged, and creative French cuisine elsewhere. Even Denver struggles to meet the standard set in this delightful Midwest city. Cannot wait to return. It's one of the first places I book when I know I'm going to be back in Omaha. Keep doing what you do!

Yelp
I was so so sad when the French Cafe (especially the dramatic, mysterious bar area) closed/changed but in the end, what has replaced is lovely. I have enjoyed myself at Le Bouillon every time I've come. It's an airy, relaxed but sexy place to have a good cocktail and some fresh delicious oysters in the Midwest... I've had a few interesting and yummy fusion meals here as well. A playful mix of Asian and French cuisine always pair well in my book...flavors reminiscent of the old and splendid Chez Chong of Omaha many years ago. I look forward for to returning again and again.

Yelp
Awful service. Both the host and server were rude and condescending. When I attempted to contact management I was ignored. We left before ordering because our server was that bad. Their by the glass wine menu is sparse. I highly recommend avoiding this restaurant.

Yelp
Outstanding wine selection in the heart of Omaha's Old Market. Great happy hour caviar special. Some highlights are the PB& J pate and pork croquettes

Yelp
The food is excellent, with a wide variety of food selection. Oysters are awesome! "A French restaurant with Spaniard accent" A description of the restaurant by the chef. It has a great atmosphere, art and lighting.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in for Breakfast one Saturday morning after the Farmer's Market. We requested a window table, and were seated in a cozy nook at the front of the restaurant. We ordered tea, coffee and a selection of pastries to begin with. I believe my tea cup had even been warmed up so as not to cool down the tea, and the lemon wedges were served in their own little cordial glass. The cups and saucers were all beautiful, and adorably mis-matched. The pastries were all delicious and baked in-house. I ordered the French Omelette with goat cheese and dressed greens, and my bff had the German pancake. My omelet was delicious, buttery and goat cheesy and herb-y, nothing bland or "better for you" about it. The German pancake though, my goodness. Our waiter had already told us it would be life changing, but we were not prepared at all. This pancake. I still have inappropriate thoughts about it. Such a rich, indulgent experience. Served in a cast-iron pan, this thing was sheer brekkie perfection; eggs, flour, milk, butter, sugar and magic. I almost hesitate to tell you about it, because I could keep it as my luxurious, fattening little secret. But really, delights like these need to be shared. So grab someone dear to you and go have weekend breakfast at Le Bouillon. Enjoy!

Yelp
Not good. How this place averages four stars with 170+ reviews is beyond me. As I always say before a review of a French restaurant, "I love French food", but I did not even like Le Bouillon. We came with a party of 12 from a conference at UNO as well as 2 last minute add-ons, but staff refused to add an extra table at first, making us squeeze into four small tables pushed together with just two small baskets of bread for 14 very cramped people. They told us that they were "fully booked", but less than half the tables were occupied all evening and a glass walled room with two giant tables sat empty next to the entrance. They finally got a clue and brought an extra table jusr before the first course arrived. The server asked immediately what we wanted to drink, but there was just one, very extensive (at least 20 pages of small print - hundreds of options), wine/drink list for 14 people on the table. There were only a couple of wine options offered by the glass starting in the $9-$10 range and most bottles were well over $100 a pop with several approaching $1000. Feeling perplexed by the poor start, we stuck with water. The server then dropped a rather heavy butter knife on my arm as she was setting the table for the first course. Things were spiraling downhill fast. They had no moules (mussels) or escargots (snails), focusing their menu on the Raw Bar instead (no thanks - I do not eat un/undercooked animal flesh), so we passed on appetizers. Beside a couple of $9-$13 soups and salads, everything had meat/fish (my wife prefers to eat vegetarian whenever possible), so the only options to her liking were the Le Bouillon Burger ($14) and the Croques Monsieur ($16). The only things that peaked my interest were the Wagyu Hangar Steak ($26) and the Cassoulet ($21), so she went with the croques monsieur and I the cassoulet. Hers came with a bit of salad and mine with nothing, so we both, unfortunately, ordered a side of Frites (fries) with Aioli ($6). The croques monsieur had two huge, thick slices of egg battered toast, but barely a hint of ham and cheese. It was so salty that my wife could barely finish half. My cassoulet came out with the top burnt, so I mixed it up only to find mostly white beans and a couple of small pieces of ham and bacon. There were no noticeable "garlic sausage" or "duck" as advertized on the menu and it was also very salty, so I gave up after trying to eat half of my $21 white bean casserole. The fries looked very nice, but were very thin and crispy (almost burnt), hard to eat with fork or fingers, and EXTREMELY SALTY. All other attendees had similar complaints of salty food and fries. When they cleared the table, nobody wondered why so much food remained on all of our plates, so I mentioned to the server how salty the food was, especially the fries, so they removed them (just the fries) from the checks. At $42+ for water, half of a salty sandwich, and half a bowl of salty bean soup (minus the soup), this was one of the poorest values in recent memory. CombatCritic Gives Le Bouillon 1 Bomb Out Of 10 And A Spot On My WALL OF SHAME ... BOOAH LE BOUILLON!

Yelp
We had a little family reunion brunch here yesterday. I met with my cousins, brother, and grandma here to celebrate our French heritage in a very nice atmosphere downtown. One of my cousins made reservations and we had a nice large table waiting for us when we arrived. I ordered iced tea and it came with its own carafe so I didn't have to depend on refills - nice! The chef sent out assorted pastries for the table, and we ordered pomme frites for the table as well which were hot and delicious. For my meal, I got the three egg omelette, which was more like a layered egg crepe with chives mixed in the egg and goat cheese in the middle (chevre for my Frenchies). It also came with a salad on the side. I added the seared foie gras to my omelette because 1) we only live once and 2) I don't see that on many menus where I live. It was so delicious and rich. I ate everything on my plate. Everyone seemed happy with their meals (my brother got the burger which is lamb-pork-beef mix, my grandma got the Austrian pancake, several cousins got steak and eggs which came with a potato waffle). Bon appetit!

Yelp
Fantastic, creative French bistro food. I've eaten here a few times now and continue to be impressed. Brunch is great on the weekends with patio dining. Service is just outstanding, with all of the wait staff knowledgable about the menu and the wine list. Last night, David walked me through all of his favorite dishes, made me a perfect Old Fashioned, and helped me pick out wine. Instead of being boring and going with a bordeaux, I had a unique and funky cargignan, bursting with blueberries, bacon, and barnyard. Plus it was way cheaper than I expected. One of the best parts of the restaurant is that the "wine list" is actually the wine shop, which means that you get retail prices (with a modest corkage) and the pleasure of selecting your own bottle. I love the little canapes on the menu. This time I had the mushroom and escargots, slightly salty (even for me) though rich and delicious. Then I had the frog legs, which were tender and juicy and super tasty, though the kohlrabi slaw was the star of that dish. I finished off with the duck frites, again, perfectly cooked. Yum! Definitely will be back again and again.

Yelp
Local french-inspired comfort food in the Old Market with a beautiful bar and dining room. There is almost no need for a reservation b/c there were plenty of tables at prime-time on a Saturday night. So it was busy, but not overtly busy with attentive service on beautiful mismatched porcelain dishes. There is also a diverse range of cliental in terms of generation ranges. We were visiting from Out of Town, and my ignorance about Omaha is I want steak, Omaha steak. There was some local Nebraska Waguy steak on the menu - and I was sold. I didn't even know that Japanese Waguy could be raised in Nebraska! I guess Trump hasn't stopped the immigration of cows yet! Pros: 1) Service and ambiance 2) Perfectly cooked medium rare steak 3) Cocktails and local brews 4) Duck 5) Local Boiler Room charcuterie platter (Go to the Boiler room down the street if you have time before or after too!) 6) Excellent but small veggie offerings like Beets and Brussel Sprouts 7) Outdoor patio to people watch 8) Daily Happy hour cocktail list Cons: 1) They ran out of their house punch on a Saturday night at 6pm! So this is also a raw bar and I can not speak to that. I'm also from Boston and San Francisco - I get antsy on eating Oysters in a land-lock state, so I say stick to the local meat offers. But if you are dying for oysters, this is a beautiful and upscale place to do it. They have daily Happy Hour raw bar offerings for $1 from 3:30pm-7pm. You can barely get those prices back in Boston! Perfect place for a dinner date and/or out of town local experience.

Yelp
Very creative menu. I had the rabbit and it was delicious. Wife had the trout and loved it.

Yelp
Fantastic for date night. Server was knowledgeable about the menu and pairing wines. Excellent experience. I will return.
