"If you’re looking for Haitian stews, this is the place to go. The legim is the star attraction and can sell out quickly. This stew is made from a medley of vegetables, including cabbage, eggplant, chayote squash, carrots, green beans, and watercress, as well as chunks of beef. They start the stew well before they open for breakfast and don’t serve it until lunch (sometimes a little later) when the beef becomes fork-tender and the vegetables break down to a delicious, velvety mush. It has a slight smoldering heat from scotch bonnets and a bit of sweetness from a ton of cloves. If they’re sold out by the time you arrive, try the zepinad instead, a beef and spinach stew we also love." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, carlos c olaechea

"If you’re looking for Haitian stews, this is the place to go. Located on NW 7th Avenue between Opa Locka and North Miami, Lecap is a counter-service spot where you choose what you want and then wait for the staff to call out your order - first in Creole and then in English if they don’t get a response. While you’re waiting, make sure to check out the dining room mural depicting the Citadel, a fort built by the newly independent Haitians in the 1800s to protect themselves from French invasion. The legim here is the star attraction and can sell out quickly. This stew is made from a medley of vegetables, including cabbage, eggplant, chayote squash, carrots, green beans, and watercress, as well as chunks of beef. They start the stew well before they open for breakfast and don’t serve it until lunch time (sometimes a little later) when the beef becomes fork tender and the vegetables break down to a delicious, velvety mush. It has a slight smoldering heat from scotch bonnets and a bit of sweetness from a ton of cloves. If they’re sold out by the time you arrive, try the zepinad instead, a beef and spinach stew that’s similarly seasoned." - Carlos C Olaechea

If they preserve their oil, they can lower the food cost!!! This is ridiculous, brought 6 pieces of chicken and 3 were hella black once bitten through. To me that’s gross. Chicken taste good but quality was not, if you understand, you understand.

Pretty good Haitian food. The chicken was well cooked and had much flavor. The fish was also pretty good. Fried plantains 👍🏽💪🏽💯🔥. Good customer service. I recommend this place. Be sure to order in advance. Thank you very much for checking in. Have a blessed day.

I was introduced to Le Cap, a Haitian cuisine gem in North Miami, by a friend, and I've been hooked ever since, making the 40-minute drive from Margate just for a taste. Usually, I go for the boulette (fried meatballs), which I firmly believe are the best in South Florida. This time, I decided to try the poulet en sauce (stewed chicken). The portion was generous, and the flavor, as always, did not disappoint. The food is delectable, and the experience is worth both the drive and the money.

A real taste of home 🏡 that I was genuinely proud of showing off to friends with whom I shared the experience and who were very impressed by the culture through the 5 senses, especially taste coming from the delicious food.

Every time I’ve come here and ordered,my food is always prepared fresh with nice portions. Some days they won’t have the Black rice or the rice with red beans.Which is disappointing since I don’t like the white rice and Black beans.Their lemonade is absolutely DELICIOUS!

Cute decor. I was one of the first customers when they opened with minimal wait. The pikliz was a little watery but soooo tasty.

Google

Yelp
While working in North Miami, I was recommended to try Haitian food. One of the places was lecap, which from the pictures, has amazing food. I got fried pork (griot), rice and beans, plantains, salad, and vanilla cake for $12. The fried pork was very good! The hot sauce to pour on took it to another level. I couldn't eat the super fatty cuts that were included. I am a huge fan of the rice and beans as it was a mountain of it to ear. The mashed plantains kept their sweetness and the salad was refreshing. The vanilla cake was sweet and tasted like it has some chocolate at the bottom. If I'm back in North Miami, I'll be back here!

Yelp
Horrible food won't eat there again. the legume was not good at all, I've had better. No flavor, so it's a no for me

C E.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant!!! The food is fresh and the staff are very hospitable. Delicious djon djon rice and the legume is so fresh and tasty. Will definitely return!!!!!!

Dolcine D.

Yelp
The management and the service is a freaking ch*** The foods are not good Sanitation and toilet are not clean and stink....

Astagne A.

Yelp
to be honest, i keep my expectations low with Haitian food made outside of the home. But my God that food was HEAVENLY. The owner served us the food herself and she was lovely. Highly recommen.

Melinda E.

Yelp
I went yesterday on a whim (I normally go to Randy's) The diri djon djon and Tasso cabrit was perfection! Hubby got the oxtail and it was delicious. I'll definitely be going back!

Joshua N.

Yelp
Griot and black rice was good. Would give it 5 stars, but had to wait a long time for my food.

Josiane S.

Yelp
Honestly the food was amazing. I got the fried chicken and legume but customer service need a bit worked on. Not only did we wait for a long time, other people started complaining about waiting for a long time. The girl at the register was nice and then another girl came to the register and was a bit rude. Other than that, I probably won't come back even though the food was delicious. Some of these restaurants need to realize that they are competing with other restaurants especially Haitian restaurants so if your customer service is trash we will gladly go else where. Like I said the food was amazing!

Shannon R.

Yelp
The black rice is so good and the whole fried snapper was cooked to perfection. The fried plantains and the gravy and pickly was a wonderful balance of flavors. I have been struggling to find good food while I've been here and now I have a favorite spot!! I can't post a picture because I ate it all

Mr. D.

Yelp
Definitely won't be going back to this place! This restaurant has more rules posted on their walls, leaving just enough space to place their menu on a postcard!! Food wasn't fresh at all, more like re-heated at low temperature. We weren't allowed to sample their in-house made juices before making a purchase--no refund or exchange if you don't like it too! One of best things about America-when you know the power of your hard earned dollar, you hold on to your freedom to choose a better place!! We should've ate at home tonight!

ShellyAnn M.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely amazing. I've always loved the food here but after trying food from another Haitian spot it made me appreciate their food even more. The legume is well seasoned and mouth watering and the griot is fried perfectly, not too hard or soft and again seasoned to perfection. I'm Jamaican BF Haitian and he introduced me to this place. I crave the legume from there more than Jamaican food sometimes lol Although the outside may not be the nicest I'm telling you, you won't regret eating there. Only dislike is that the wait is always 45 min- 1 hour even when there's no one inside. However the food is always worth the wait. Hats off to the chef. I hope he never leaves

Yelp
Use to love the place, use to be a regular. They never had a problem wen I asked for no fat on my grio. until they had the audacity to charge me 2$ for not giving me any fat... I mean are u seriously charging me for something I don't want??? By all mean; Some people actually enjoy their fry pork extra fatty, that's just a personal choice/preference, but I have been buying food from this people for 8+ years. You may argue that times change, and granted things such as prices do change, but by no means should any person be charged additionally for some thing like FAT!!!! Unless is LIPO.. And FAT transfer from a cosmetic procedure.

Yelp
wanted Some Authentic Creole cuisine so I visited Le Cap AND THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT the Service was definitely five Star Will be recommending this restaurant to whom it may concern lol

Jas W.

Yelp
I wished they serve black rice but sadly they don't. I've had their fried turkey, friend snapper and steed turkey. All were awesome

Bianca A.

Yelp
Eaten here a couple times. The black rice is delicious. Similar to my grandmothers black rice. The chicken stew is delicious, although I would like to see some vegetables in there. The staff are very nice and the service is prompt. The restaurant looks clean and the to go packaging is on point. I definitely recommend!

Ed W.

Yelp
Lecap Restaurant you are simply outstanding, I had a lovely experience here today. Little touches are nice. Everything was flavorful and absolutely delicious. The staff was fabulous, literally every one. Would certainly recommend Lecap Restaurant to everyone.

Johntaveia R.

Yelp
Love live love this place.Great portion size always fresh and consistent. They give u enough food for two people

Pierre P.

Yelp
Great place to eat. Great staff, food is awesome. Had some legume with rice and plantain, very delicious. Just like my mama makes it. Anyone looking for some real autentic Haitian food while in town should definitely eat at this place.

Jorge C.

Yelp
Off the chain griot (roast pork chunks) here. I drive over 20 minutes to eat the roasted pork chunks here. They are always fresh and super crunchy. The restaurant is immaculate, it seems they are always cleaning. Good prices and fair quantity of food. My favorite Haitian place so far. Good customer service, they speak English and Spanish here as well as Creole.

James F.

Yelp
I only gave this establishment a generous 2 stars because the food is so pretty tasty. Otherwise, no stars. Sadly this place is going down fast and losing much business due to the horrible customer service. If they get sufficient staff then this business would be Poppin. If you order for pick up, make sure you add another 45 min to what ever time they tell you. The Food is delicious but these people clearly do not respect the customers time. If they tell you to pick up in 30 min. You better arrive an hour and a half later. Even still, you may have to wait. The whole point of calling in for pickup is to NOT have to wait. They just lost a family of customers. Hope le cap gets it together.

Yelp
Come for the griot with the black rice. The pikliz is downright addictive. I put it on everything. Great staff. I've eaten from here 4-5 times, my tastebuds and my tummy are always happy.

Marissa J.

Yelp
I order oxtail, with white rice and fried plantain. It came with peas sauce that it was delicious the best I have ever tasted. The food was truly delicious, the oxtail was fresh and fell from the bones. Average price $12.00

Kethy J.

Yelp
The food is not to my standard at all. The service need a little bit of work, because it is bad but not horrible. This place is better than Chez Madame Johns Restaurant, but need a little bit of work on the akra and legume area. I would have gave them one additional star but I had way way better experience in other Haitian restaurant.

Harford H.

Yelp
The black rice here is legit... Love the stew chicken.. Sometimes the griot is overlooked but other than that can't go wrong...

Minerve L.

Yelp
I absolutely love griot, might call me a griot aficionado. Last week I bought griot from Le Cap restaurant and I WAS NOT impressed. I went there based on reviews from a coworker as well as online reviews, sad 2 say I didn't have their same experience. The quantity of food was less than other restaurants. The taste of the griot was very homemade, didn't have that extra quality you get from eating something served in a restaurant. The fried plantains were extremely mediocre. I make better ones at home. I don't plan on going back but I'm hoping their other foods are much better.
