"Michel and Marie-Pierre Troisgros are behind the family's other gourmet establishment set in a former 1920s hotel. The vibe is smart yet casual and the warm, vintage decor is inspired by the brasseries of yesteryear. You will sample a concise menu that changes daily, flanked by à la carte suggestions in a traditional register, although often reworked with creative twists, illustrated by a profiterole with mustard-flavoured ice cream. The place is always busy, bearing witness to its well-deserved success." - Michelin Inspector

‘The Zuni Cafe Cookbook’ Wants You to Pay Attention - Eater

"Les Frères Troisgros was known for the simplicity and purity of its cooking and its unpretentious atmosphere. That year, Rodgers spent every spare minute in Jean and Pierre Troisgros’ kitchen, except for when she visited the home kitchen of their sister, Madeleine Troisgros Serraille, Tata Madeleine, who also knew how to prepare a perfect meal. The Troisgroses believed, Rodgers wrote, that everyday food ought to be taken as seriously as haute cuisine, 'just as well prepared, and just as celebrated.'" - Aimee Levitt

Pierre Troisgros Dies at 92 - Eater

"Troisgros rose to fame alongside his brother Jean at his family’s restaurant in Roanne, France. The Troisgros brothers took over their parents’ restaurant, the Hotel Moderne, which opened in 1930, and renamed it Les Frères Troisgros in the mid-1950s, two years after it received its first Michelin star. There, their cooking style departed from French traditions, prioritizing lighter, fresh ingredients in what’s now acknowledged as a precursor to nouvelle cuisine." - Erin DeJesus

On Film, the Romance of French Cooking Is Forever

"A more casual outpost in Roanne within the Troisgrois family, offering the group’s standards in a less formal setting while sharing the same rigorous kitchen discipline and training ethos that draws cooks from across the globe." - Matthew Schneier

Fantastic deal. 34€ for appetizer, main, dessert. Really great selection of food. A series of easy choices to customize your meal. Wonderful atmosphere. Right across from train station. The staff are lovely too

£40 for a 3 course menu would be fine if there was a quantity of food to eat... However I am still hungry and thinking to grab a burger after this. The appetiser (which came free) was inedible and was a broth which tasted of shrimp shells and left over bones... the starter of a gaspacho soup was actually tasty, but looked like a strawberry and banana smoothie. The main was a small bit of fish with turnips, with a sauce which tasted like coronation chicken! Interesting....! And dessert was meh. Anyway - extremely mediocre. Food 5/10, but for €40 2/10. (Plus wine)

Google
Very ordinary for such a celebrated restaurant. Had no problem with size of the dishes from the set menu that was not the issue. The food was bland and boring. Perhaps we would have been better to spend more and eat ala carte. Very underwhelming w poo uld not return on this showing. If you are thinking of making a special trip yo go here - don't.

If Entrecote << Marchand de vin >> is on your menu, jump on it. 2-day slow cook-down of 5 kilograms shallots and 50 bottles of beaujolais, a touch of salt. Stupid good. Good wine list.

Google
First of all, the restaurant opens for dinner from 7.30pm, not 7pm as advertised on the website. Food was very tasty but presentation needs improvement: one of my glasses has a chipped foot, and dessert plate was covered with fingerprints and other traces. I thought everything would have been spotless so I was a bit disappointed. All in all, good food for acceptable prices!
