Le Gigot

"At first glance, Le Gigot transports guests to an inviting little family-owned bistro—the kind you’d only find in La Ville-Lumière. The service exceeds expectations with uncharacteristic warmth that brings a welcoming vibe to the nostalgic dining room. Tasty renditions of classic bistro fare dominate the menu, so expect the cooking to be familiar and pleasing. The petit bouillabaisse begins as a saffron fish broth with a red-peppery North African accent to elevate the traditional fish and seafood dish. Their cassoulet is a beloved Toulousaine version with duck confit, bacon, cannellini beans, herbs and luscious pork. Finally, apple tarte tatin, served warm with a dollop of crème fraîche and fresh blueberries, is a perfect closer." - Michelin Inspector

"Modeled after a classic French bistro, you can't help but feel like you're in Paris here. When you try the food—light, fluffy crab cakes, delectable bouillabaisse—you'll feel truly transported. This is a great place for brunch. They take American Express or cash, only."

My first time at a French restaurant! This place is quaint! Fabulous service! Food was fantastic and the wine was excellent! My sister had the duck confit. I had the steak frites. Both excellent. And the bananas flambé was the perfect ending to a superb meal! Hope to go again on my next visit!

Google
Our first time there but won’t be the last time after their great service. Derrick was really nice and thourough with the menus and also special meals of the day off the menu. I got octopus off the menu. Believe me or not it was my first time having octopi and it was delicious. The lamb was so delicious ( seasoning was great) Highly recommended

Google
Riley was the most wonderful server! Daniel was also incredible. Both showed me that service here is 10/10. Can’t say enough good things. We had a delicious meal and the best ambience. They know what they’re doing here and we can’t wait to come back!

Google
Such a great “hole in the wall spot”. Very small space, with amazing food. Great selection of wines. I love the small west village feel. Very low key place that is a must go if you are craving French food

You won't regret spending money here - nice staff and easy to find. Incredibly kind staff working here! Delightful dishes served with care in a pleasant setting. This restaurant isn't trying to be cheap. The restaurant deserves unlimited praise.

We just finished an excellent meal at Gigot. Delicious endive salad. Fresh favs beans. Plentiful escargot with onions and herbs. The soft shell crabs were the best I’ve ever had. For dessert we had the profiterole. A wonderful night at this tiny, cute French restaurant tucked away on Cornelia street.

Google
What a special place! I made this reservation for my girlfriends who were visiting. The table we were waiting for was running behind and they kindly gave us each a free glass of wine. The atmosphere is fantastic. Intimate and friendly. The waiters are so attentive to the little needs and were extremely thoughtful and friendly! The food is delicious. Lots of bread provided! This is my favourite New York restaurant experience to date. I would highly recommend.

Google
Absolutely wonderful and lively neighborhood restaurant. Everything flowed perfectly as a small packed restaurant should on a Friday night. The staff was great and never once had to call for their attention. The food portions were massively delicious. Stay for desert. We had no regrets about this place.

Yelp
Extremely cozy and delicious French food. An intimate dining experience with professional and friendly staff They serve classic French dishes at good portions- not too big or small. This place is a price splurge for sure but in my opinion worth it for the high quality food and ambiance. For example the salad was simple but so well dressed. Those small details make it worth a date night or special occasion. We went for a holidays girls dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Get the French onion soup!! So delicious Note I wouldn't recommend groups of more than 4-5 here, the it's not a very large room

Yelp
Hopefully you don't have to wait for your table for long. Very tight space and a bit uncomfortable waiting. Once seated the ambience is cozy, you could tell there were regulars vibing with the staff. Service was great, friendly, and knowledgeable. Food was good across our table (lamb, fish, mushroom pasta, steak frites). My only critique was I feel like the quality could've been a bit better (didn't knock me out of my seat) given the price tag. Specifically the lamb special, was a ragu, they didn't serve the lamb over the pasta. The pasta was virgin from the lamb and when I tried to pair just didn't mix well. I ended up just eating the lamb separately from the pasta and never mixed them together. The fries with the steak frites were a bit soggy. We left with clean plates but the meal wasn't something I will be bragging about.

Yelp
This is the epitome of an original Greenwich village neighborhood spot. Tiny, cozy, but ever so personal. You may never find a more hospitable team of welcoming and charming restaurant workers When you arrive you get the feeling of entering one's home rather than a place of business The menu consists of true French traditional meals and does not disappoint Nice selections of wines by the glass, paired with delicious crab cakes, and a sumptuous salad complete with toasted bacon and goat cheese Our bouillabaisse was prepared with very fresh seafood selections without a trace of grit or sand. The broth, so savory without being too salty perfect. Very fair prices and a really lovely din from fellow diners. We will certainly revisit!

Yelp
Charming and intimate neighborhood spot. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is comforting and cozy.

Yelp
Their escargot and the bouillabaisse was amazing! I had read they had a good bouillabaisse and I'm glad I went to try it.
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding food and service. We ordered the escargot, crab tagliatelle, and beef bourguignon, which were all excellent. The crab tagliatelle came with a generous portion of lump crab and had the perfect texture. Service was impeccable as the wait staff was highly informative and responsive. It's a small bistro with a very cozy ambiance that makes you forget you're in NYC.

Yelp
Hits all the marks. Excellent food, warm vibes and friendly, accommodating staff. Great ambience that reminds you of a locals-only place in Paris. Servers are excellent and attentive and front of house staff are super nice. The food is mostly authentically French, but with subtle twists, like a chicken broth base for their onion soup, which made all the difference. Loved the duck confit, coq au riesling and do not skip the creme brulee for dessert. Excellent wine selection too. As in French restaurants, you are never rushed and the meal is well paced. We sat at one of the side-by-side two seaters across from the bar during one visit, but it wound up to be a pleasantly intimate setting with a good vantage point and we were very comfortable. Been twice already, and will definitely return again.

Yelp
On first glance, this is a nice little French bistro. Dining here, the crab tagliatelle was one of the single best dishes I had in 2023. It defies belief that such an exquisite dish hasn't garnered more attention. The escargot, steak frites, and and bouillabaisse were very good. The cheese plate was uninteresting.
google avatar

Yelp
Phenomenal service. An area frequented by locals (skewed elderly) which is always a good sign. Wait staff split one our hangar steak frites onto two plates for us, with more than enough fries for each. Consistently checked in with us and showed genuine interest in our dining experience. Steak was good but wasn't a huge fan of the texture (perhaps I am simply not the biggest fan of hangar steak) -- felt like it was too floppy. The complimentary bread was terrific. Rustic and artisan. Prices are a little steep (though it is French fare, after all) but still would return to try some of their other items.

Yelp
I absolutely love le gigot. My partner and I come here for many special occasions. Its romantic setting, traditional Provence dishes, and delicious wine are all high quality. If you're looking for a cozy french bistro for a date night or special occasion, this is your place!

Yelp
What an ambiance. Transport yourself to the densely wooded French countryside with an intimate trip to Le Gigot. It didn't hurt that it was raining outside the beautifully decorated little restaurant either. The food was fantastic. The bouillabaisse was rich and smoky. Perfect for soaking up their unreal bread. The chicken was also perfect. It tasted like a Christmas gathering with all your favorite warm spices. The veggies and potatoes were delicately flavored to offset the richness of the chicken.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place was really rather forgettable for me. I came here for dinner and was happy to be seated immediately. They have both indoor and outdoor spaces - unfortunately outdoor is on the pavement and the claxophony of cars doesn't help with the experience. Notwithstanding we tried the crab cake and the bouillabaisse. The crab cake was good and it was only crab meat with no fillers. Unfortunately a very forgettable meal for me. I came here for dinner. We were seated outdoors immediately. They have some indoor seating - about 8 tables mostly for couples. Outside they have about 5 tables in the summer. The service was relatively slow and since the menu didn't have too many options I was hoping all the food that they did they would do well. From menu to leaving we ordered about 3 dishes and it took 2.5 hours. At best the food was fresh but it wasn't either tasty or memorable. It didn't have either flavor complexity or interest in terms of ingredient combination. I would probably come here for a basic meal but at the prices I expected something a little more upscale I suppose. We tried the heirloom tomato salad, the crab cake and the ravioli. I would pass on this place for dinner - might be a better lunch option to be fair

Yelp
I have had this place bookmarked for a long time. Was pleased to be sitting inside on a hot summer weekend night. The decor is dimly li and cottage like. Wine: Crémant d'Alsace, rosé. Medium body, very refreshing. Apps: I had the escargots which arrived in a wonderful sauce made of butter, herbs and garlic. As an entree, I had the braised beef cheeks with a side of asparagus, carrots and potato au gratin. I really loved the freshness of the veggies. I requested more which my waiter effortless granted. I left very happy. Had a wonderful solo dinner here.

Yelp
Didn't want to write a review since they say if you don't have anything nice to say...but since I've been blown away elsewhere recently and was led astray by reviews here to try Le Gigot, so: When the beef bourguignon is supposed to be their speciality and it was the worst you've ever had you know you're in the wrong place. Maybe their cassoulet is great, but we couldn't try it as intended because the menu changed (the day we went we checked online to ensure it was still served). We understand that it's a winter dish, but this was early spring (and still quite cold) and it was presented as being available and was the main reason for going there. To sum it up this place was a disappointment, from food to ambiance and service. I was told the crabcake was decent tasting despite seeming to be canned meat. Regardless for the price and size it was not a good value. This place overcharges for subpar food and crams you in a tiny room, where somehow you still have trouble getting the waiter on occasion. I literally couldn't eat my dish (the stew). I think the only thing that was good at all was the wine and that our waiter was nice and tried to be attentive (until the end). Oh and when you're served a hot chocolate cake for dessert when you were expecting a delicious chocolate mousse cake to save you from your disappointing dinner, it sucks. Maybe they don't want to be one of those places that serves lava cake, but that's basically what that cake is. and surprising someone with hot cake is not cool or okay. I LOATHE lava cake. They at least took that off the check, but I see they haven't changed the name of the cake on the menu yet. PLEASE do!

Yelp
Wonderful French food in an intimate hole-in-the-wall. We started off with a number of apps- a salad with great dressing, delicious oysters that weren't too fishy, and escargot that were verrry garlicky. Their house bread is clearly freshly toasted and it was those small details that added up to my great experience. We got a number of entrees to share- the steak was perfect at medium rare with a DELICIOUS blue cheese sauce and the fries were crispy but not greasy. The seafood risotto was amazingly cheesy and they didn't skimp on the seafood. The salmon was also very good, although the vegetables were a little softer than I liked. The bouillabaisse came with more toasted bread and some cheese to melt. Service was great- I don't think our wine or water glasses ever emptied. The cherry on top was their port- such a nice treat at the end of the night! I would definitely come back on a date for their seafood dishes especially!

Yelp
It. was difficult to fond this small restaurant. The food was very good. a bottle of too salty as many restaurants are. The floating island dessert was nothing special a chocolate dessert was better. Service was wonderful. Atmosphere was diminished by the small slightly cramped space.

Yelp
You know how you walk into a French restaurant, thinking "THIS is going to be the one I dream about? The one that makes me think of Paris? The one you walk out of two hours later feeling you missed it again? This is the bistro you'll come back to, wondering how you missed it. I'm serious. It's small, it's crowded, you'll get bumped into, it'll be a tight squeeze in the restroom, and the menu won't have anything on I it you haven't heard of. You'll eat some of the best food of your life. All the classics: French onion soup, coq au vin, oysters on the half, and so on. And they're all good. You'll taste what your friend is eating and think "I shoulda ordered that" and then realize if you did that , you wouldn't have the wonderful food in front of you. The staff is quirky, knowledgeable, and they give as good as they take. Treat them nicely, you'll get steered to a better wine. Treat them poorly, you'll get a shoulder shrug and " it's up to you." No " I just moved to NY and I'm an actor" types either. These folks are as good as the food. Seriously, go. Make a reservation because I wasnt kidding when I wrote it's small. Come with an appetite and a smile. You won't regret it.

Yelp
I can't describe how much I love this place. It reminds me of the mom and pop owned restaurants I went to in Paris-- rustic good food that is not trying to be trendy/fancy/instagrammable. Inside it is darkly lit with a few small tables. It is very cozy, warm, and intimate. Over the summer they have some outdoor tables which were also nice to sit at since Cornelia St has a lot of outdoor dining. The crab cakes (~$24-26 for the app) are the best crab cakes I have ever had. They do not have any flour in them I believe so it is mostly just crab. They are a must get. The seafood salad ($36) is also one of my favorites for a lighter dish. It has crab, shrimp, fish, lobster, beets, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, radish, carrots, frisee, asparagus and an herb vinaigrette. It is actually a large portion and is filling. The bouillabaisse (I think it's close to $30) is also really nice on a cold day. It is on the thicker side in terms of broth and it is delicious with the bread and rouille. I do not eat meat but I was told the cassoulet ($42) is amazing as well as the duck confit ($28) which comes with the best potato gratin. Highly recommend this spot-- it is a perfect romantic date night place and the food is really good.

Yelp
Passes the vibe check!! Went on my second date with this v quirky boy so you know, it's romantic. The place is bijou. I like that their Instagram is not constantly being updated, adds to the whole rustic vibe of the restaurant. He got le Hanger Steak and I got l'Arctic char. I added the le's and l's because it's fun I later realized I was being charmed by this Ivy-educated, semi-awkward tech bro whilst simultaneously having identity crisis thoughts, but the Tarte tatin saved me. The restroom has tasteful wallpaper and the photograph reminds me of le petit Nicolas. We went for a post dinner walk to Washington square park and he called me cool as I pulled a pack of cigarettes out of my purse, it's really not that tough to be a Parisian.

Yelp
Had a variety of dishes, pate, escargot, beef Bourguignon, Bouillabaisse. Everything was Pretty tasty. The appetizers were pretty solid. The soup was a special and was the best thing on the menu. Our entrees were solid choices, the seafood was great and the beef was good as well. Nothing was mind blowing but everything was a good choice. I'd ask for the soft starter bread with the seafood next time since it came with some crunchy breads. The dessert was also good. The wine was great

Yelp
I live in NJ but went into city to see a friend and we wanted French so took a 15 minute walk over. They are so friendly and place was warm and perfectly lit not to bright or dark. We ordered some nice dry wine(little pricey 18 a glass) Then my friend got the escargot and I got the salmon tartare. Wow both were amazing Then we both got the beef Bourguignon shepherds pie. I have eaten a lot of French food but this may have been the best dish I had. We then split the chocolate mousse I would have given 5 stars but a little pricey so if you live in the west village go you will love

Yelp
After a screening of " The Taste of Things", my friend and I decided to dine French and this charming restaurant fit the bill perfectly. We shared a classic endive salad, bouillabaisse, and coq aux vin, and with glasses of a crisp Muscadet. The food, ambiance and service were excellent and on a par what was created and served in the film!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
This was a very good French bistro it's small and has a very authentic feel up to it. The service was excellent and the food was excellent as well and it better be because it was not $28 For the duck confit but it was 32, the prices have gone up. We had an appetizer, main course shared a desert, and 3 glasses of wine for a grand total of $80 a head, and that's without the tip. However you get what you pay for, and it was certainly very good food. I can't give it five stars for these prices though; I think it's a bit overpriced but very good.

Yelp
We came here for dessert and it was beyond delicious and the coffee drinks were amazing. The staff here were so kind and hospitable and treated us very well. 10/10!

Yelp
Been coming here regularly when in the city. So glad to see things somewhat back to normal. We were a party of 4 with outdoor seating. Although there were heat lamps available it was still warm and pleasant out. Aside from the regular items on the menu there were a few daily specials: arctic char, rack of lamp, soft shell crab. Our party had bottle of the cremant, a few appetizers, seafood bouillabaisse, soft shell crab; hanger steak and lamb perfectly cooked med rare. Staff was fabulous. Attentive to our need for water and bread. The guys that helped out on our Saturday night were the best and all pros.

Ned B.

Yelp
This is a wonderful restaurant. The long time chef retired but the replacement is just as good if not better. We started with a superb French onion soup. We had the crab cakes--full of crab, extremely tasty, really the best crab cakes I've had. And the bouillabaisse was excellent, delicious broth and fresh fish cooked perfectly. And the upside down tarte tatin was an excellent variant, delicious without being too sweet. Overall a memorable meal in a lovely old fashioned bistro setting. Also it was quiet which is a relief after so many noisy places where you can't hear your companions.

Yelp
Le gigot is always such a great dining experience. Every time I've dined at le gigot over 20 years I've been thrilled. Their menu changes slightly with the season. If you're lucky enough to get a table in the fall/winter you have to try their signature Cassoulet. It's one of the best cassoulets I've ever had. Service is gracious and friendly. The ambiance is cozy and warm. Such a romantic place. Beautiful wine list too.

Yelp
We got super lucky and snagged a 645 resi last minute for NYE! And to my surprise it is located on the famous Cornelia street (Swiftie over here iykyk) across from Taylor swifts old townhome. Such a treat! But I love a good French meal more than anything so we were super stoked about coming here and getting a table. It's one of the few places around that serves my favorite food: boeuf Bourguignon. I will always rave about it. But it was so good here! The sauce was perfect consistency. Definitely pricey ($38) BUT the serving size was very big. It was surprising. We started with escargot of course... so delicious. Served with the bread it was the best app. The butter for the bread was also extremely good. Noticeably good butter. My boyfriend got the duck confit his favorite dish. He said it was very good and the potato gratin with it (also a generous portion) was insanely good. This is definitely a great restaurant. The service was 10/10 too. Constant water refills and an appropriate amount of checking In on us. Always cleared our table and stuff and cleaned off crumbs. Very very good with our coats too. The man was holding it up for me to put on before I even got to the door as I left. It was really impressive honestly. Definitely a tight space with limited seating. No plexy glass barriers between you and other guests so you're like basically sitting with the people next to you due to very tight space. So if that bothers you just be aware. Hope to visit here again someday !

Yelp
"As if you could kill time without injuring eternity." -- Henry David Thoreau, "Walden" Friday finally arrived at day's end after a long utter difficult laborious journey and summons libation with good food. A storm was brewing from the remnants of Hurricane Dorian 2019 forwarding north which became very windy and cold, but did not stop me from enjoying life amid alone. I entered broken. Le Gigot is a quaint small French Bistro in West Village, Manhattan very accessible by A, B, C, D, E, F and M trains at West 4th Street subway station. I miss the City of Light "Paris: La Ville-Lumière", Paris, France. Reservations for parties of three and larger are recommended. I sat at the bar counter, amid very content with the passage of time slowly my mind became phlegmatic. My server Derick is very staff is attentive, professional, welcoming, ready, able and willing with enthusiasm who suggested wine pairing with my food selection. I desired small plates, but not a entree. Upon exiting the weather became colder and the staff inquired if I had a sweater to shield from the cold. Background music was not boisterously loud and is conducive for conversation with dates. Facilities are relatively clean but somewhat small size. The bill is handwritten but itemized. Business cards are available. No Happy Hour is available, but good food, libations and quality customer service are present. Green Salad $14 Baby greens and fig vinaigrette dressing with half cherry tomatoes The greens were fresh and the dressing was a good consistent amount slightly salty but a good starter. Potatoes au gratin $12 It has been forever since I had intake this side dish and I enjoyed it to the tee. The cheese, milk embedded was not thick nor excessively rich or heavy, neither too creamy which I am happy that it was neither. This is one of my favorite classic French side dishes. Chocolate Cake $14 Served with chocolate sauce and fresh blueberries this dessert was a true delight. I am truly enamored of this dessert. Muscadet, (Domaine des Quatre Routes Sur Lie) 2018, $15 This white wine was partnered with richer dish as my potato au grain as suggested by Derick which he is on point. Pale with bright yellow tint for a bouquet acidic citrus, orchard fruit that hones a distinct taste. This wine is a nice balance to intake heavy foods. Pay it forward as my server Derick who served me very well I left a very generous gratuity. Credit cards are accepted. I was well respected, the food is good, overall I was served attentively with humility and grace. I would surely return for the Onglet (hanger steak). I have taken my leave for the evening with the intent to go home comforted and a phlegmatic disposition was achieved.

Yelp
This is certainly another great French restaurant. The beef stew dish was soooo good. The sauce was reduced to the point that all the flavors were condense. Meat was tender. And dipping the bread (crispy and soft) in it was just so satisfying. The duck confit was done perfectly. The skin was crispy. On that day, the special was the lamb, also great. I'm taking half a star off from the unsharpen steak knife. So hard to cut the meat.

Yelp
Small quaint, inviting French spot with wonderful food and service. Ambiance. Small, unassuming and cozy. Great spot for a nice but low key date. Service. Our server was outstanding with recommendations and was very friendly and attentive. Food. Wonderful. Everything. This is where I developed my recent (all caps) LOVE for escargot. - Pate. Excellent. - Seafood risotto. Divinely creamy and delicious. - Escargot. I've craved escargot several times since, due to their amazing introduction. - Duck confit. Tender duck, perfectly cooked. - Creme brûlée. Outstanding. Definitely recommend for a cozy comfortable date spot. Given their limited seating, make reservations ahead.

Yelp
One of my favorite French bistro in the city. Very intimate, very authentic. The service is attentive but not disturbing. A perfect spot for first dates and anniversaries --or, in our case, both!
google avatar

Yelp
I went specifically for their Boeuf Bourguignon. Probably the best Bourguignon I've ever had in NY. Their escargots is also a must to order.

John S.

Yelp
Went there last night, long wait for mid level food. Paid 40$ for a steak rare but they drenched it an some weird A1 sauce. Also they wouldn't allow me to pay with an apple master card that's used anywhere a Mastercard can be used. Was forced to pay with a crappy TD bank card. Asked for check and it took over 10 minutes in an empty restaurant. I would not return again. 2/5 because they seemed nice but just poorly run.

Yelp
Found a hidden gem for French food lovers! Although that was brunch time, we all opted for classic French dishes. They gave a generous amount of escargot and it tastes oily in a good way. The Niçoise salad was simple yet delicious, light yet flavorful. I really like their salad dressing. The duck confit was for share and they considerately split it for two dishes. For desserts, my friends tried the bread pudding and ice-cream trio while I had the cheese plate instead. I love the blue cheese but the other one was mediocre. Only one thing I don't really like was their bread. Not bad but I expect better in a French restaurant. The restaurant was tiny and quaint. The servers were friendly. Everyone took their time to enjoy their food. The atmosphere reminds me of those little bistros in Europe. If you don't want those trendy spots, this might also be a cute place to date. Yelp
We went to visit this famous street Taylor Swift sang about and found this hidden gem! We went for brunch on a Sunday and I got crab cake eggs Benedict which was the special that day. So delicious! And it came with freshly squeezed orange juice too. The food was great and the service was even better, the waiter was so nice and accommodating. It's an amazing quiet spot if you want an awesome nyc meal!
google avatar

Jiwon K.

Yelp
My friend and I were actually on our way to a different spot for brunch, but we passed by this place and it looked too cute to not stop by and I think it was fate that we went here instead because this place is such a gem. We didn't have reservations (refer to previous paragraph for obviousness), but they were able to accommodate so well. The brunch prix fixe comes with a choice of orange juice or coffee and a main entree (no dessert rip), but the eggs florentine I had was so good 11/10 one of the best hollandaise sauce I've ever had, and I've had *a lot* of hollandaise. The best part of this place though is definitely the atmosphere. It's so charmingly French and I can't describe an aura in words -- you just have to be there. So go and be there.

Yelp
Excellent experience, great food, and attentive service. Charcuterie was one of the best I've had in the city. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I love being in the bustling city but there's something to be said for a tiny intimate space like Le Gigot. Excellent service. I don't know if I caught them on a bad night but the food was not great. I'd come back on a day I'm craving something classic and need less stimulation from the city.

Yelp
Went here for dinner last night and everything was delicious! Quality food, service, and wine. Outdoor seating was spacious and traffic on Cornelia street was stopped so it was very pleasant. Banana flambeau was to die for. Only beer and wine so no cocktails or after dinner fines but a nice tawny port. Our party had the steak, duck confit and seafood salad- all of which were delicious.

Yelp
I really wasn't that impressed by Le Gigot. I went for my cousin's birthday dinner and we all agreed that it was an alright dinner, but nothing to write home about. It's a very, very small and intimate restaurant, but has a nice French ambiance. I love French food but often find French restaurants limiting because the vegetarian options usually suck. Le Gigot was not an exception and they had no vegetarian entrees at all. I instead ordered two appetizers, the Fava Bean Salad and their special of the day Heirloom Tomatoes. The salad was good and had a variety of textures and tastes. I liked that it incorporated smoked gouda and walnuts, but it really needed more of the balsamic dressing, which they only used as a garnish on the plate and not really an ingredient in the dish. The Heirloom Tomatoes were rather simple. There's absolutely nothing wrong with simple, but when it's simple the flavor has to pack a punch and really impress. It was served with goat cheese and a drizzle of pesto. It tasted good, but wasn't good enough to be memorable. I ended my meal with their Chocolate Cake which looked decadent as hell, but was rather average. I enjoyed the meal, but wouldn't come back.

Yelp
Friday night...Manhattan...no reservations...what are the chances of getting in anywhere? Thank heavens we took that chance at Le Gigot! We were treated with the utmost of kindness from the second we entered this very small and incredibly authentic French bistro. A lovely woman behind the bar and a male server (perhaps the owners?) told us that if we could wait just five to ten minutes there would be a table for three available. A miracle! So much can be foretold about the what's to come by the quality of the bread, so from the onset we anticipated that this meal was going to be exceptional. It did not disappoint. We began with a carrot soup, pâté maison, and a crab cake. All three were outstanding. The crab cake could rival the best I ever tasted, including those experienced at the best seafood establishments in Baltimore, MD. Our entrées were lamb stew, sea bass, and their signature dish, gigot d'agneau. The sauce of the lamb stew was pure ambrosia and the added vegetables were cooked to perfection. The sea bass was crispy, juicy and delectable, and the gigot d'angneau was heaven on a plate. Desserts were tarte Tatin and a delicious brioche pudding. The tarte Tatin was hands down the best I have ever had. I would go back just for that. The food and ambiance are as delicious and authentic as you will ever have outside of France. The wines choices are superb, and the service is outstanding. I cannot wait to return...only next time I will make a reservation!

Yelp
We have frequented Le Gigot for 20 years. Sadly, it seems to have "jumped the shark" in both service and food. It used to be hard to get a reservation but this past weekend, every time slot was available. When we arrived at 8pm, there were only 2 other tables taken and no one else came in during our time there. My friend is vegan, and the only 2 items on the menu that she could eat (besides fries) were unavailable. So was the lobster special, and according to the waiter, "any other dishes that have lobster in them" (seafood salad, pasta, etc.) Really, at 8pm? We ordered a charcuterie plate to start, which was brought with very hard toast. We asked for bread and they said they were out of bread. Um, a French bistro, out of bread? At this point, we were all sort of concerned, but decided to continue with the meal. But when the waiter held out his hand to my 81-year-old dad and said, "Give me money and I'll go buy you bread, SIR" very sarcastically, we couldn't let that go. We asked for the check for the wine and items we had ordered (but barely had eaten) and the waiter told us to JUST GET OUT. The bartender, who we had not even said a word to, joined in with abusive language as we were leaving. I was relieved, because although we offered to pay, my frisee salad was tasteless and the charcuterie plate looked off. In stark contrast, we went to Raoul's, where the food was exceptional and the service was extremely warm and professional.

Yelp
Risotto was stellar. Bouillabaisse was decent. Scallops were exceptional. The saffron dip was excellent! The pate plate was a letdown (mainly because we're used to a soft texture and this was a brick). And yes, the crab cake is indeed delicious! I've sampled better Cotes du Rhone so I'd suggest skipping that if you were to choose a glass for your dinner. It was a nice experience and I would like to return for another scrumptious meal. Sans pate.

Yelp
Tonight was our first visit to this lovely 25 year old French bistro. While the tiny restaurant was mostly full on a snowy Sunday night, we appeared to be the only couple. This surprised us because Le Gigot is very romantic. The menu is small and filled with classic French dishes that you are happy to put in the hands of an experienced chef. Boeuf Bourguignon, duck confit and cassoulet are all large home cooking projects best left to the pros. We had a crab cake (my favorite dish of the night), spinach soup, duck confit, and steak (brandy peppercorn sauce). Dessert was tarte tatin and creme brulee. All with a nice bordeaux. Everything was executed wonderfully, and the service was pitch perfect. We enjoyed our server very much. We are excited to make this our regular for neighborhood French, as we can't wait to try the rest of the menu. We loved the unassuming confidence about this little place. You don't stay around in this competitive neighborhood for 25 years without having some game.

Yelp
Is food a culture language or an universal language? I believe it's the latter. To me - who never been to France, always have been a frequent Asian food eater, eat French and new American occasionally, French bistro is a brand new step. I'm so glad that my friend Linda chose Le gigot as a lovely and hearty start of my French bistro journey. Le gigot offers a Provence ambiance (which means low key, lovely and romantic to me), super attentive staff, and extraordinarily delicious food. I would recommend all of them: mussels, crab cake (purely crab meat with a nice crust), bouillabaisse (creamy and flavorful soup), trout with seasonal veggies (tender and fresh), and the amazing duck confit (juicy, luxuriously rich flavor, and tender meat)! A great hide-away spot for small friends party or a romantic date. Would come back to have more duck confit or try out gigot d'agneau aux flageolets. CASH or Amex only!

Yelp
My husband and I have celebrated every anniversary at Le Gigot for years. It was wonderful to get out again and dine in this elegant restaurant. The food is always sublime and the atmosphere is so beautiful. My husband had Escargots for an appetizer. They were absolutely delicious. I had my favorite, Pate Maison. It is the most wonderful melt in your mouth pate I've ever tasted. For our main courses, we had Coq au Vin and Poulet. Both entrees were as usual, extraordinary. Every dish we have ever tried at this restaurant has been outstanding. We always have a bottle of wine. They only serve the best and it's reasonably priced to fit everyone's budget. Don't forget to order dessert. My personal favorite is the Apple Tarte Tatin. The beautiful owner, Pamela makes everyone feel so welcome. The staff is so friendly and courteous. I am always happy to see Daniel, Derrick, Andreus and Carlos. They all make you feel like family. As for safety measures, the staff is fully vaccinated. I felt perfectly safe eating indoors although I also enjoy dining al fresco when weather permits. We love this restaurant and can't wait to go back. Don't wait for a special occasion. This is a beautiful restaurant to enjoy when you want an excellent meal, lovely ambiance and a warm and welcoming staff.

Yelp
Bartender denied us a table while we had a reservation through open table. Granted we made a reservation 7 minutes before but the system accepted it. There was a table clearing gout when we walked in and that was refused too because they "had just given a table to people walking in". For this standard and rating of restaurant it is a big no no. The cuisine is supposedly from Toulouse France as is one of our guests. So double the disappointment.
