The Biggest Los Angeles Restaurant Openings in February 2025 | Eater LA

"Heritage barbecue owners Daniel and Brenda Castillo opened a diner on February 22 in Santa Ana inside a remodeled Quonset hut. Taco María veteran chef Ryan Garlitos developed a friendly, West Texas diner–inflected menu that includes pork chile verde tacos, chili cheese fries, brisket barbacoa tacos (the smoked beef is sourced from the Castillos’ San Juan Capistrano barbecue restaurant), and chocolate bibingka." - Mona Holmes

A Groovy New Restaurant Called Le Hut Dinette Opens in Santa Ana | Eater LA

Opening February 22, 2025 in a remodeled Quonset hut (a corrugated steel structure shaped like half a barrel), this new-school diner from Heritage barbecue owners Daniel and Brenda Castillo features a high-ceiling dining room and a menu by veteran chef Ryan Garlitos, previously at Michelin-starred (and now-closed) Taco María and modern Filipino restaurant Irenia. The friendly West Texas diner–inflected menu includes pork chile verde tacos, chili cheese fries, brisket barbacoa tacos (with the smoked beef sourced from the Castillos’ San Juan Capistrano barbecue restaurant), and chocolate bibingka; the team also hosted a Valentine’s Day–themed tasting with roast duck adobo over creamy garlic rice, chicken French onion soup, smoked salmon terrine with 61 Hundred’s blue corn sourdough bread, and pork steak with ginger-scallion salsa verde, with flavors described as balanced and comforting without being too aggressive. The project joins the Castillos’ growing empire — their celebrated Heritage Barbecue (opened July 2021) earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand and was featured in an Eater video, and they opened Heritage Beer in Oceanside in 2023 — and the space was previously planned as a brisket taco spot (announced February 2024) before morphing into this modern diner concept. Located next to Santa Ana’s recently relocated 61 Hundred Bread, a modern sourdough bakery known for long lines for inventive loaves and thoughtful pastries, the restaurant will begin with daytime service (11 a.m.–3 p.m. on opening day) with dinner service to commence a few weeks later; the relaxing retro-inspired interior includes a hi-fi audio system, counter seats, wide banquettes, and a front outdoor patio seating up to 24 people, and Castillo told Eater he eventually plans to convert the current space into the restaurant’s bar and finish the rest of the Quonset hut as an indoor dining room. - Matthew Kang

Great food - a little pricey but delicious (we did order the ribs which were the just expensive item - well worth it though). The bread and butter was amazing (heirloom blue corn sourdough from 6100 bread bakery next door- yum!). The melon salad was bright and delightful with just a bit of spice - so good! The diner decor and style is fun. The building is cool and funky. I definitely need to go back for dinner to try the lamb and a few of the shareables. I also want to try the lunch menu.

Seriously delicious, rich flavorful and seriously yummy… Had the pastrami sandwich, shared chili fries and my guy had the tacos. Service was quick and friendly would definitely do again. The crunchy chili oil is a win and the ranch has dill….

Google
A diner with a fine dining flare. Everything was rich and flavorful, and I enjoyed the diner presentation of food, only to be surprised with taste and quality of the food. Service was phenomenal, as we were well taken care of. Parking is all street, but didn't have any trouble finding parking at all Food- 5 stars Bread and butter- the sourdough bread was really good and hearty. Try to share it with a group of 4 or more, as it gets pretty heavy Tuna tartarte- the tuna was solid, but they do a great job with carbs here. The chip that it came with was fantastic and it was a perfect complement to the tuna pork and peas- I wanted to try some of the Heritage BBQ aspect of the restaurant and went with this dish. Excellently smoked, not surprised. It doesn't blow you away, but very solid Potatoes- crispy and flavorful, with the help of that beef tallow. Very enjoyable and hearty Service- 5 stars Our server was fantastic. Excellent with explaining the menu and making sure we were always taken care of Bottom Line Enjoyed the unique vibe of the restaurant. Definitely something worth trying and expect a hearty meal!

Google
Cool, hip new spot. Went in to try the ‘acclaimed’ patty melt and left feeling it’s definitely overrated. Quality meat and nice bread, but honestly not something you can’t find at other quality diners. $32 after tax and tip for a melt + fries. Uncomfortable, backless counter stools too. Service was great though. Genuine, friendly and takes their time. Unfortunately the manager/owner was also alittle ‘too cool for school.’ Not a smile, nod or attention to any guests…just focused on taking photos for Instagram.

Excellent pastrami sandwich. Coleslaw is perfect with a hint of heat. The chicken bone broth soup was delicious. Service was terrific. About $26. Definitely recommend. They close from 3p-5p daily to prepare for dinner service. Also, they use the amazing bread store next door for all their breads. Really nice atmosphere. Owned by the heritage bbq folks.

Google
The place is beautiful and it's like dining in a 5 star 1950's diner with modern twist. The food is beautifully curated and is exceptional. Our server was fantastic very well versed in all of the menu and dishes. I'd suggest making a reservation and enjoy the dining experience.

I’ve been a huge Daniel Castillo fan; love Heritage BBQ so when I heard this spot had opened I was in town/in the area to see an Angels game I was like I must try. One of my California restaurant pet peeves is how single diners get treated. It’s always the bar no choice. I’d like to be treated like a regular customer not a piraya. I literally made a reservation weeks in advance I walk in immediately I am told all we have is counter seating. Everyone else with a reservation got a choice. I think it’s not okay I get I am a single person yet to just throw me at the counter seating without a choice is poor service. My waitress was friendly; I went with the “famous” patty melt. It came out pretty quick. It was very cheesy yet the execution fell flat. The burger itself ran that line between raw and cooked very close parts of the middle were still raw. The patty melt itself didn’t have much flavor it just fell flat for me (caramelized onions and pickles the sauce which there wasn’t much of it wasn’t very flavorful maybe if there’d been more on the sandwich??). The standouts on the plate were the beef tallow fries and the house made ranch-yum!! Order a plate of those fries. Overall at $22 that’s pretty steep for lunch I’d maybe try their tacos if I stopped by again. It’s a fun happening spot hopefully can work on being more welcoming to single diners in the future. You definitely need a reservation to dine here; lots of street parking. Decent lunch or dinner spot!!

Google
Top notch hospitality, great music and super delicious food! Roy, Drew and the rest of the front of house team were accommodating, kind, and friendly! The pork and peas is amazing! The pork melted in my mouth!! Highly recommend. I also loved the blue corn sourdough bread with lemon tallow butter… drooooool… and the spring salad was an incredible combination of flavors 🤩 if you enjoy bread pudding, GET IT!! What a great place with good people!

Yelp
I absolutely loved the decor and the 1950s diner vibe that it gave! Felt like a cool vintage experience. Ordered the eggplant lasagna and the smoked brisket bolognese gave it so much flavor! The brisket was tender and flavorful. It was topped with a melted layer of mozzarella. I enjoyed the freshly grated parmesan on top with a side of shredded basil. All the flavors went beautifully together and it made the perfect italian dish! Enjoy the blue corn sourdough bread as an appetizer! The tallow in the butter made it so soft and creamy, and the lemon made sure it wasn't overly salty. The bread was so good I went the next day to buy a loaf. It was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. Our waitress was very polite and attentive! She made some great recommendations and frequently checked on us. Will definitely visit again soon!

Yelp
The menu looks great but it's lacking when you eat it and see it. The pit master sounded amazing, and while it is best split between two people, you're not getting that much for the $37 it costs. The brisket was dry and lacked flavor, which was another knock on this place. It's supposed to be from their sister restaurant, which is a BBQ place, which makes this even sadder. You can pick if you want your eggs scrambled or fried. Roasted potatoes were great, though - better than the fries. The pastrami sandwich was not worth it's price, either, but the meat was better at least. Still, it was small for the price. One of the main positives is you can get 6100 bread items from here, including the blue corn sourdough, which was already sold out next door by the time we got to brunch on Sunday. The wine was interesting. I don't think I've had natural wine before so it was cool to try, but nothing crazy. Parking: street parking, free, but can be difficult to find Atmosphere felt very casual. Feels like you can just walk in, sit down, and chill.

Yelp
This place was on the bookmark for awhile so we decided to give it a try for a weekend brunch. As we arrive to destination (around 10am or so), as noted by other yelpers that parking is abit of issue here as only street parking is available. We had to circle around twice to find parking a few blocks down, wasn't super difficult as long as you are ok to walk. The restaurant is right next to the bread bakery, we saw a huge line out the door from the bakery, but thankfully the restaurant had no line so we got seated right away. The food was ok, not great like I can't wait to take my other friends here, but it's decent that ok we tried it. Honestly wasn't anything memorable food wise, and there were occasionally flies flying around as we were the first table by the entry door. But I would love to be back on the same street to try the bread place next door though.

Yelp
I admit it. My hut wasn't in it. I had a reservation and also some reservations about going. Who want's one more ho humburger? Was it gonna be another Ruby's Diner with posters of Rosie the Riveter? Hmm...Uncle Sam wants you...he wants you to go somewhere else? Fine. More for me. I am officially falling on my Wakizashiro because, Boy and Girl, was I wrong. This spot is terrific. A re-done WW2 Quansit Hut on a quiet side street (unless the 61 Hundred Bakery next door is open with it's line out the door and a Rugby Scrum to get in or push through to get to Le Hut next door). Little cocktail tables are set up between the Hut and the Hut next door along with a row of tables in front set back a few feet form curb. Good for keeping a lookout for the Dickless Tracey ticketing your ride. (1 hour parking). No worries, the Meter Maid is probably in the queue to buy bread instead of punishing you for overstaying the City's welcome. Now walk into Le Hut Dinette. A counter puts you in the action along with comfy roomy booths that beckon. Fresh leather, fresh new paint, and the whole place is as spotless as a Pathology Lab. A Kitchen Pass Through window lets you see the Kitchen Bee Hive in action. "Hi, I'm Luna" "Is that a typo?" "No, that's my name and I'm your charming Hostess, Server, Sommelier and Busser." She shined like a new moon. Luna was totally rizz and all biz at the same time and that girl knew the entire menu cold and hot along with the quirky Wine List and what paired best with the quirky menu. Who's in the house? Locals. A few that are tired of the hits and misses at Lola Gasper or woofin' the mortgage money at Trust plus a few of us Truffle Pigs that can sniff out a great meal in a culinary challenged environment. Cocktail time? Nope, there ain't none. But there are nine Wines and four Beers. So don't bother asking to see the Master Reserve List as thick as Moby Dick. A bottle of J Brix Stay In Bed Red was a lovely blend of natural grapes, skins, no sulfites, and a delightful pour. Dry-ish leading the way to a fruity finish. This was as soft and smooth as a puppy's tummy. The Food: A menu that's short and to the point. Seven main dishes and three Appetizers/Salads. Order everything. You could give a Chimp a handful of Darts and end up with a great meal here. The Kitchen is mistake proof. The Bread Service featured a stack of four healthy thick slices of Blue Corn Sourdough Bread from next door. It comes with a bowl of less than healthy Tallow Butter (But then it's your chance to show your arteries who's runnin' the show.) Live on the edge. The Chicken Inasal was next up. Incel Chickens that were chicken? The The Chicken was truly chickeny and tasted like what a Chicken dreams of tasting like. The whole half of Mary's was no teeth tender and juicy after being grilled over Binchotan and basted with Annatto, Lemongrass Marinade and Chicken Au Jus. It comes with a pile of Summer Squash and Garlic Rice. I'm returning as soon as I can to order the other half as this dish was bold, creative and perfectly perfected by a Pro. Still hungry? Have some Smoked Beef Ribs from the Mother Ship. There was a mountain of bite size chunks piled high on top of the bones for those who are compelled to go all feral and gnaw on the tomahawk shafts. Smoky, Beefy and satisfying even if you're a devout Vegan. The Kitchen leans toward the Grill having learned and earned their chops at Heritage BBQ, a highly regarded and respected Q joint in San Juan Capistrano. The Eggplant Lasagna was just as described. Eggplant slathered with Smoked Brisket Bolognese, Mozz, Parm, and Fresh Basil. Easy to finish this as you can't stop shoveling it in. Dessert: There is only one, so agonizing over what to select is off the table. No one Dessert for me and two Desserts for the table. Who likes choice anyway? This Dessert was a loaf of Japanese Milk Bread, Egg Custard, Peach Preserves, and enough Heavy Whipped Cream to kick your A1C into another Time Zone. Eat up. Loosen your belt and plan on returning. Le Hut Dinette should get set to see me again real soon, you bet.

Yelp
My first visit at this place was for a dinner. At night, the place feels or has the vibe of more of an elegant, vintage roadside diner (where I felt like a character out of a Jack Kerouac). On my most recent visit, I came here with my friend and his family for lunch. Still has that classic diner vibe to it and the same great, friendly service, but they some different offerings on the menu. I was torn between the patty melt and tacos, but ultimately opted for the two tacos place, because I wasn't super hungry and the patty melt seemed like more food. For the tacos (which you can mix and match), I ordered 1 brisket barbacoa and 1 chicken mole taco. You can choose from a few different salsas, so I chose the macha salsa, which is sort of like the Western counter part to the chili oil you find at lots of Chinese restaurants. The salsa and the tacos all had a nice kick to them with smoky flavors coming through. They were delicious. With each visit, the more fond I grow of this spot. Next time I will definitely get the patty melt.

Yelp
Cute spot with substantial fare. The portions and price are not for the faint of heart. You have your classic American breakfast items but with a fun twist. Service is fast and friendly. Would definitely making a reservation, particularly for large parties. Parking is terrible but it's the nature of the area.

Yelp
Opened back in February right next to 61Hundred pastry. The place is set up with outside seating, inside counter top dining seating and booth seating. Not a very big place but just the right size for a diner cozy feel. We went there on a Sunday afternoon with no reservation that landed us with a seat outside in one of the two shaded area. It gets pretty toasty outside so unless you're wanting some natural Vitamin D or chancing on getting the limited shaded seats around noonish, making a reservation would be the way to go. Menu is simple with breakfast and lunch options available. We got the following: Pitmaster Slam which came with 1/2 lb sliced Heritage Barbecue smoked brisket that was tender and not on the dry side, two eggs that can be scrambled or fried- we got it scrambled and was on the salty side. Tallow fried Weiser Farms potatoes- again, on the salty side but has nice texture of softness inside and crunchy on the outside. The meal also came with a choice of toasted blue corn sourdough from next door, which is a bonus or burritos la palma tortillas. 2 Taco Combo, one Brisket Barbacoa and one Pork Chile Verde with choice of salsa. We picked the Verde. The meat in both tacos were nicely seasoned and soft. This place is promising and would attempt the place again. The service was excellent, no complaints here. I would've told them the meal was on the salty side but opted not to so that's on me. Great place for a weekend brunch. Party seated next to us brought their dog and was heartwarmingly welcomed.

Yelp
The food was really good and flavorful. I got the BLTA & my friend got the patty melt & we shared to try two different things. It was really yummy! I love that they use the milk bread from 6100 next door! The service was really great too. They had indoor and out door seating. The only thing I will say is I wish the fries would be unseasoned normally. I didn't realize they had this like Cajun season. It wasn't bad it was really good but for the next time I'll know! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
We had dinner here on Friday night and it was perfect! Loved the architecture of the building and the decor inside. Parking was easy, we found a spot right down the street. Everybody who works here is incredibly warm and friendly, service was excellent. They released a new menu the day we came, and I didn't take a pic of it so I don't remember all the details of the dishes we had. All I can say is every bite was over the top delicious and we cannot wait to return. Their Blue Corn Sourdough (which comes from the bakery next door) with lemon garlic tallow butter is out of this world. It's like the best grilled sourdough you've ever had, with a mix of corn tortilla in it. Amazing! We had a salad with peaches, tomatoes, baby greens, and a delicious creamy vinaigrette, we seriously licked that plate clean. Unique salad with the best flavors. For sides we had a cheesy asparagus dish along with some dill roasted potatoes with a buttermilk dill sauce. My husband couldn't stop saying "these are the best potatoes I have ever had." I have to agree with him! The asparagus was equally good. My entree was a NY steak with potato and onion puree, along with some grilled shishito peppers. Perfection! The sauce under the steak was sweet and savory and so yummy. I didn't even need to use the steak knife they gave me (it's served pre-sliced) because it was so tender. Husband got their Pork and Peas, which I wasn't too excited about cause I don't care much for peas. This dish changed my mind! The pork belly was so rich and succulent, it was balanced well with their split peas, okra, and collared greens. Portions were big enough for us to bring half of almost everything home for dinner the next night, and it all reheated beautifully. We can't wait to go back and share the beef rib dinner for two, we have always wanted to get the beef rib at Heritage, but now we can get it closer to home! Their lunch and breakfast menus sound great as well, I know we will be back very soon.

Yelp
First bite into my brisket barbacoa taco reminded me of Klay Thompson cooking THH r Pacers for 60. Who needs sauce when that taco slaps that good. Chile verde pork - exactly what the offense ordered. It's like all 5'6" of me dreaming I was KJ dunking on Hakeem Olajuwon. BLAT sando is the best BLAT I've ever had. That smoky bacon on fresh heirloom tomato smacked between that 6100 milk bread sweetness is perfection like when LeBron blocked Iggy in game 7 of 2016 finals. Jumbo time wine - such cute little bottles that are worth increasing to 750ml and sipping all day. This place is where you want to be. Great food, great ambiance, and solid service.

Yelp
Right next to the fantastic 6100 bakery and there's lots of street parking. It was crowded by 10:30am so I recommend reservations or coming at opening. The menu is simple but delicious. While they do have that heritage brisket bbq, it's not as fresh as eating at Heritage so I feel like it's reheated or transported over. My favorite was the egg bacon sandwich with green tomatoes. Very fresh and packed with flavor. Hot sauce and ranch were homemade too. It does have that nice old school diner feel and I hope they get some shades for the front when it gets hotter. They also have seating on the side which was very shady. Staff was very nice and everything came out quickly.

Yelp
We walked in during lunch time for 2 people and a dog. We sat on the patio which was nice because it was dog-friendly and shaded still while being able to enjoy the nice weather. We got the Smoked Brisket Sandwich with chili and the Patty Melt. This did NOT miss! The flavors were so good and you get a great portion for what you're spending. Highly recommend for a cute retro diner feel with exceptional service!

Yelp
Delicious! Ordered the two most popular lunch dishes- smoked brisket pastrami and patty melt and enjoyed them both with the fries and slaw. Wish the 6100 bread was maybe a sturdy sourdough bc the soft milk bread falls apart quickly, so expect a messy lunch. Service was friendly and attentive with ice tea and water continuously filled. The dinette vibes is fun and I can't wait to come back for dinner!
google avatar

Greg J.

Yelp
Super bomb food and wine. We ordered tacos and Chili's fries plus some house wine for JBrix. Some of the wetter tacos fall apart but I'll still be back.

Yelp
Le Hut Dinette was awesome! My friends and I had dinner here and had a blast, here is a breakdown of the food we ordered. Blue Corn Sourdough- This is one of the starters and it was amazing. They get sourdough bread from 6100 Bread next door and serve it with lemon garlic butter. It was so good that I had to go to 6100 Bread that weekend to pick up a loaf for myself. Potatoes- these potatoes were a great appetizer to order. Fried in beef tallow and seasoned with chimichurri. The potatoes were incredibly crispy and went so well with the beef rib we ordered. Beef Rib- This thing is massive. Good for at least two people. Our party of 4 shared it and each had 2 slices of it. The meat is incredibly tender. You get a fantastic smokiness from the meat which is prepared by Heritage BBQ. This dish is expensive but highly recommend. Bread Pudding- For the dessert we ordered the bread pudding which is served with milk bread from 6100 Bread, chantilly cream, and strawberry jam. This really hit the spot and was a fantastic way to end the night. Overall, this is a great new and upcoming restaurant. I expect it to be very popular for years to come with their fun concept of upscale diner food. The atmosphere is great, it is in such a unique building. The decor is mid century retro. The only downside from our experience was our table was right against the wall. And because of the shape of the building, the wall kind of pushed up against our shoulders why we ate. The service was quick and helpful. Great experience!

Yelp
Saturday lunch, arrived before noon and there was a few seats inside, opted for outdoor seating. Ordered patty melt, chicken salad sandwich, chili cheese fries, and dessert. Patty melt was a hand packed patty with cheese and all the accoutrements you would expect. A little messy but one of the best. Chill cheese fries, hearty and crispy with a slight spice from the brisket. A significant elevation to your standard chili fries. Chicken salad sandwich with, nice and light with thin sliced green tomatoes. Great sandwich for a summer day. Slightly under seasoned compared to the other dishes. Dessert was a chocolate bibingka. Like a brownie but lighter and slightly sweet. Comes with a nice strawberry compote and Chantilly cream. Would recommend. Overall a great lunch spot, definitely recommend and will be back for the Patty melt and chili cheese fries

Yelp
Wow what a great find! The staff was super friendly. This is a perfect cozy place for brunch. Ordered some BBQ sandwich and breakfast burrito . With a bottle of champagne to celebrate Saturday morning (haha).

Yelp
Le Hut Dinette cute little spot in Santa Ana next to 6100 bread. Parking might be a challenge but it's worth it. Got a Caesar salad. Excellent anchovies flavor to it. They also crisp it up. Fruits in it makes it super refreshing. Fries are fried in tallow. Really good. Little bit too much seasoning but overall excellent Rueben Sandwich was great. Nice smoke flavor. Great veggies. Bread is like a croissant almost. House rose was very good. Overall great experience

Yelp
Stopped by around 2 PM without a reservation and was fortunate enough to get seating at the counter. We ordered the Caesar salad, brisket barbacoa tacos, pork chili verde tacos, patty melt, and a pastrami sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the standout dish was definitely the patty melt--so juicy and perfectly seasoned. The pastrami was a bit on the salty side. For our sandwich sides, we chose fries and coleslaw. We also got a bottle of champagne with a choice of juice for just $20. Great deal :)

Yelp
My friend and I enjoyed lunch here today and it was divine! Drew took great care of us. I got the 2 Taco plate and Oh. My. God! They had 4 options and the only bad thing was I had to just pick 2! I went with the Barbacoa and the fish. Yummy!! The flavor combination on both tacos was fantastic! And both so different! They had a rib special that my friend got and she raved about it. I got one bite and wow! It was flash fried after cooked that gave it a perfect crunch. Lovely wine selections as well. Even took me home a bottle. They also do dinner and brunch and I will be back for both! It's recommended reservations for dinner, but lunch we had no problem getting in. Get there friends! This place is delicious!

Yelp
Salutations, everyone! It's time for brunch yet again! Can't get enough of it in OC, that's for sure. That's why we're at Le Hut Dinette in Santa Ana. It's a cute restaurant in a sort of hangar-type building with some of the best-themed decor I think I've ever seen! Check out how cute it is! The menu's no slouch either. They're offering some real fun stuff, courtesy of their sister restaurant, Heritage BBQ. We ordered some things accordingly as well! We got some brisket tacos and a cubano, which came with beef tallow fries! Doesn't that look delicious? It certainly tastes delicious! The brisket was barky, meaty, and turbo juicy. Who doesn't like something turbo-juicy? Get onboard, yall. The cubano is excellent as well! Ham, pork, pickles, yumm! Meg got a patty melt, which was amazing too! A tender ground beef patty, with bread from the bakery literally next door? Dude~~~ OOey gooey cheesy, unctuous, and I'm not even a sandwich guy. Don't even get me started on the beef tallow fries (DRAMATIC PAUSE) OKAYOKAY let's about em. They're crispy, fluffy, and oh so amazing! For diner fries, they are busting at the seams, figuratively. Gotta stay healthy, so we also ordered a caesar salad. It came with pink lettuce! And these grapefruit supremes! So cute! If you're a salad person, please do yourself a favor and order this guy. Sweet, savory, salty, creamy, cheesy..need I go on? If you're on that hungry gut mindset, drive on over to Le Hut Dinette!

Yelp
The team from Heritage Barbecue has opened up an elevated diner experience in Santa Ana called Le Hut Dinette. Officially, they open tomorrow but I got to swing by their soft opening during lunch hours to check out their menu. You pay at the counter, get a number, and seat yourself. We sat at the bar. We tried a cup of the chicken & rice soup ($8) , brisket barbacoa tacos ($16) with mocha salsa, and the patty melt ($22). The soup lacked chunks of chicken but it was hearty and flavorful. The brisket tacos were my husband's favorite while mine was the patty melt which was served with a side of tallow fries. The staff was welcoming and we enjoyed our lunch. This new restaurant is a gem to the neighborhood! Le Hut Dinette is located next to 61 Hundred Bread on Poinsettia Street in Santa Ana. We parked on the street and walked over. Hope you get to try it soon. Cheers!

Yelp
"Let's meet at the Quonset?" Say what?! In case you don't know what one is, please visit Le Hut Dinette and be ready to be amazed at what they did with their Quonset. It's stunning and will make you feel like mid century time traveler. But put that all aside once you settle into one of their comfy seats because the food will grab your attention right away. Le Hut is brought to you by the folks from Heritage Barbecue so you know you're not going to get your average diner fare. Everything here is done at an elevated level and it's all comfort food at its most comfortable. The menu is short so bring a group and try everything on it because it's all good and eclectic. And don't forget to stop by the very busy and very delicious bakery right next door (they also supply the bread to Le Hut).

Yelp
Santa Ana, Ca. I'm not at all a fan of Heritage BBQ, so I thought this experience may be a carry over of the hype and over priced food. I was pleasantly surprised by the sensational offerings here. This is a good example of when the tastes and aromas overcome any concerns about price because one is quickly aware that the fare is special and not to be had on a typical outing. Some of the highlights: Caesar Salad with added chicken and avocado. Best Caesar ever, so many bright notes mixed with smokey chicken and fresh greens. Included, generous portions of everything. Artistry in a salad, believe it. Brisket Barbacoa Taco. Wow, this is an amazing and ample sample of the most delicious brisket ever. Perfectly smoked, tender and moist. It paired well with a great salsa Roma. Pork Chile Verde Taco. This is a burst of flavors ranging from a perfectly cooked carnitas style pork, hints of bright and tangy tomatillos, and pickled onions. The salsa verde on the side was amazing also. Chicken Mole Taco. I have been looking for a great mole and have now found it! I could actually taste the chocolate and it was neither sweet nor bitter. It was a perfect complement to the moist, tender and Smokey chicken breast. Oh yes, the salsa macha is extraordinary. Beef Tallow Fries. A perfect balance of salt vs chile on potato strips that appear to be hand cut. Perhaps calling them fries is not exactly accurate, maybe a new name is called for here. The Ranch dressing served with the potato's is excellent. The ketchup is just catsup. The only thing here so far that is ordinary. Chocolate Bibingka. Oh my, an adult style dessert that is an absolute knock out. Have you had roasted strawberries lately? Try this dish for sure, it is decadently delectable . The waitstaff here is friendly, accommodating and attentive. This experience all takes place in a repurposed Quonset hut that is nicely appointed and small, but not crowded. We sat al fresco, it was a nice day out on the patio, too nice to be inside, and I did not have to listen to the music that might have been loud enough to be a distraction.

Yelp
Made a reservation on open table for 11:30am on a Sunday. Was seated right away. Everything we ordered was a hit. The patty melt is amazing. I believe they use breads from next door at 6100. The blue corn sourdough that came with the pit master slam is something I've never had before. It's like sourdough and corn tortillas had a baby lol. I will be going there next time to pick up some breads. The place it self has a very chill vibe. Got seated at the booth which was a plus.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place as I'm a huge fan of Heritage BBQ and wanted to support the team. Granted, the review is based off one menu item, which was the pastrami sandwich. The construct sounded great but the flavor seemed off - maybe it was too smoky for me? It definitely was on the salty side and was guzzling water the rest of the day. The fries, which I thought would be in its purist form having been fried in beef tallow, were too seasoned. Service was great, the ambiance was great. Parking can be a bit challenging - be sure to read the street signs! I'll have to come back to try other items.

Yelp
Le Hut is a diner concept from the chef behind Heritage BBQ. We stopped by during soft opening. They are located right next to the super popular 6100 Bread bakery in a quiet neighborhood of Santa Ana. Menu is currently limited. The chili cheese fries were a solid shareable starter. The cheese is a thick, stick to your ribs style sauce with small chunks of beef mixed in. Intentional and different but not necessarily better than the more common shredded cheese. Wife thought it was too salty. The fries by themself were very good, crispy and flavorful as they are fried in beef tallow. The patty melt was yummy. Juicy, flavorful beef patty. Perfectly carmelized onions. Special sauce. The bread is toasted Japanese milk bread from the aforementioned bakery next door. Comes with those tasty beef tallow fries. Overall a tasty albeit heavy meal. Other items on the menu included tacos, a Caesar salad and smoked chicken sandwich. We will be back and I'm excited to see what other offferings are added to the menu.

Yelp
Will not eat here again. Arrived at 12:30PM on a Friday. Only 8 people eating there! And yet, our order too about 20 mins to arrive. The music was way too loud, so we opted for one of their outdoor tables. Cute, clean place inside and out. Our server was nice and reasonably attentive. Now, the food. It was subpar. The Cuban sandwich was on nice brioche bread, with Swiss cheese and dill pickle. It was just okay ~ only sliced ham, no roasted pork. Lotta onions. The garlic mayo was overdone ~ messily running down our hands and quickly making the brioche soggy. The tallow seasoned fries were meh. Their seasoning was extremely mild and the fries were not crisp. Their coleslaw does not have any mayo, and their dijon mustard vinaigrette was too heavy on mustard and vinegar, for me. Saving the best for last, the patty melt. It was pretty good. A good quantity of ground beef. Nicely caramelized onions. Melted cheese. Unfortunately, the bread got soggy on this one too.

Yelp
The food was delicious, a small menu made up of diner style favorites like chicken with gravy and pork with peas. Even the normally humble soup and salad blew us away. The ambience is definitely a cozy diner. Every detail was carefully thought of, down to the speckled brown plates. Service was great, can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Yelp
Finally made it. All the share dishes were delicious and the service was great. The bread as a starter is out of this world. The adobo steak was delicious!

Yelp
What a gem! This restaurant makes incredible use of a small space--open, light, and airy with a thoughtfully curated theme that carries through in both the furniture and overall ambiance. It feels inviting and intimate without being cramped. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, striking that perfect balance of being available without hovering. You can tell they care about the details, both in service and in the food. The dinner menu is small, but every dish we tried was spot on. The pork and peas were rich and flavorful, and the chicken dish and potatoes was comforting yet elevated--both beautifully presented. We ended the meal with their bread pudding, and it was absolutely delicious--warm, perfectly textured, and just sweet enough with the strawberry compote. Overall, a fantastic experience. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their lunch menu

Yelp
*Dinner Review* - 4.5 Stars! When I first heard about Le Hut Dinette, I wasn't quite sure what to expect - except for good food of course, because the chefs behind Heritage Barbecue were coming to the heart of Floral Park in Santa Ana to open up this elevated diner concept - and Chef Ryan Garlitos doesn't disappoint with his creative take on comfort food dishes! Location - they are located next door to the also highly acclaimed 6100 Bread (which I am determined to check out very soon!) Since my reservation for a Friday night was relatively early, I was easily able to find street parking. This review is for their {very first} dinner service after they officially opened with their lunch menu. They offered both a la carte options as well as a prix fixe menu for $100, and so my friend AQ and I headed to dinner and "sat at the counter" rather than squeezing into one of their small two-tops because we wanted to have that true diner experience. Very much like Heritage Barbecue, the restaurant felt very lived in and home-y, evoking nostalgia into a space that just recently opened its doors to patrons. My friend and I both decided on the prix fixe menu (though I hear they are going to offer a la carte) and we started with an amuse bouche of crudites paired with a garlic toum. The rest of my meal is as follows: Starter - Wedge Salad (I asked for the dressing on the side because I'm not about that blue cheese life but they do have a housemade Ranch as well - so good!) This one also came with Heritage smoked bacon bits, can't go wrong there. Seconds - Quite possibly my favorite dish of the evening, the Tuna Tartare. This was served with Yellow Fin tuna, pickled cucumber, avocado, salsa macha (for the heat!), but it was the tallow-fried tortilla that came with it that just made this dish really sing for me. Entree - Steak Diane felt like an appropriate diner option, a pan roasted prime bavette, mushroom cream sauce, arugula salad and picpoul vinegar - it tasted great but the steak's preparation somewhat bled into my cream sauce so it didn't look entirely appealing. Dessert - Pineapple Upside Down Cake - the bruleed pineapple on this upside cake stole the show. I paired my meal with a glass of Big Tang By Scotty Boy, a Syrah from Santa Barbara, California and it was a full bodied option that held up to my Steak Diane. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and like the idea of the menu changing up every so often to keep things fresh. I can't wait to come back for lunch and try a few things! I also might stick to a la carte for dinner next time - I left way too full and it'd be fun to share some dishes with friends and maybe try a few more wines. Congrats Heritage team! Can't wait to see what else you roll out in the restaurant!

Yelp
the service was spot on making the place feel very elevated, our server was a nice gentlemen-- although i am not a big fan of american sandwiches, this place sold me. i feel that they truly put effort into serving quality food. it is a bit overpriced but i would recommend it to those looking to experience a great restaurant in the santa ana area.

Yelp
Exceeded expectations. Having been huge fans of Heritage BBQ we've been anxious to try this extension of their talent for creating excellent dishes centered around diner food while adding a touch of BBQ. The challenge as been limited operational hours (Thu-Sun) and fear of crowds. Now that the place has been open for awhile, we took the plunge for lunch. NOTE: their lunch menu is NOT the same as their dinner menu. Smoked Brisket Pastrami $25 - a big sandwich on toasted bread. This bread is used on nearly everything. Tallow fries included. A grand slam Patty Melt $25. More toasted bread (not Rye) and wow, this is a burger. You can tell it's fresh when the meat falls apart. This one did. We can't wait to go back for dinner. They do take reservations. Good idea s it's not very large.

Yelp

Yelp
Very cute place with great service. Very cute little street with a few other cool places surrounding it. Plenty of street parking when I went but it wasn't a busy time of the day. Went specifically for the party melt but they do have a few other items on the menu. The patty melt was ok but the bread just doesn't hold up. It was soggy even though it was toasted. The sauce is a little weird - kind of off putting. I really wanted to love the food as much as the vibe. So bummed.

Yelp
Le Hut Dinette is such a cute little restaurant! I had the patty melt with fries, and it was super delicious. We also tried the smoked brisket (pastrami) sandwich, and it did not disappoint so flavorful and satisfying. The whole place has a classic American diner vibe, and everything we tried was made just right. I definitely have to come back to try more from the menu. Services was amazing super friendly and attentive. If you're looking for tasty comfort food in a cozy spot, this is it!

Yelp
Le Hut Dinette delivers an experience far more intentional than its laid-back exterior suggests. From the moment we settled into the cowhide barstools--whimsical yet chic against the polished diner aesthetic--you sense this is not your average brunch stop. The high-top bar offers a front-row view of the kitchen, where each plate that emerges inspires instant menu envy. You'll wish you brought a crew just to justify ordering more. I ordered a two taco combination. The brisket barbacoa taco is the undeniable standout: deeply smoky and melt-in-your-mouth tender, crowned with sharp, vinegary pickled onions that brighten each bite. It's rich without being overwhelming, and beautifully composed. In comparison, the Baja fish taco is competent but conventional--it fills the plate, but not the memory. And then: the smoked brisket pastrami sandwich. It's a masterclass in restraint and satisfaction--stacked but not sloppy, with a tender-crunch contrast that's pure joy. Paired with golden tallow fries, crisp and assertively seasoned, this is a meal that lingers. Service is on point: attentive, well-paced, and never overbearing. A word to the wise: reservations are highly recommended, especially during brunch hours. Le Hut Dinette is no secret, and for good reason.

Yelp
First timers at Le Hut and enjoyed it. Great decor. Potatoes fried in tallow were great. Ribs were tender as butter but way over-salted. These guys know BBQ, so i assume this was just a glitch. Rice and broccolini great. And the best for last was the bread pudding. Best item all night. Service by Haley was excellent.

Yelp
Amazing food and ambiance. The staff is nice. I really loved there breakfast tacos and French toast. We mixed passionfruit and pineapple for the mimosas and got an amazing flavor.

Yelp
Went for lunch and it was so good! Started with the Cesar salad which was very good. Had tacos for lunch and they have so much flavor. The fish were so good and the other tacos incredibly seasoned and delicious. Highly recommend. Went for dinner at a later date. The baked chicken was so tender and moist. The giant beef rib was perfectly tender. The pineapple upside down cake was the best end to the meal. Service was great. Greeted with smiles and the server recommended certain items.

Yelp
They're trying SO hard and it's cute and the food was pretty good, but there's so many weird off thing about the way it works. It looks like a pump and feels like a sneaker. It's got the limited menu and precious ingredients (beef tallow fries) of a fine dining menu but it FEELS like a place you should be able to get a "diner-like" breakfast. Which it ain't. I wish I could have ordered eggs and hash browns but they don't do that kind of stuff.

Yelp
One of the best lunches I've had in a while. The food is high quality and really satisfying. My son had the patty melt and he said that was the greatest patty melt that he has ever had. My husband had the brisket barbacoa tacos and said they were amazing. And I had the pork white chile verde tacos and the fish tacos, both delicious. We also got the chocolate bibingka for dessert which was a great end to a great lunch. The restaurant itself has really cool music and really cool vibes. Great service. We will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The restaurant has a mid century vibe from the Formica to the terrazzo flooring. The ribs were outstanding and the service was spot on.

Yelp
Was anxiously awaiting our Sunday adventure to Le Hut Dinette. We ordered the bacon egg and cheese sandwich which was amazing with every bite. We also had the patty melt with Cole slaw which sadly was disappointing a bit undercooked and lacking in flavor. The slaw was spicy sour and overwhelming for my particular taste. We also had the brisket Sando, a smoked pastrami brisket with tallow fries. I felt the meat had way too much smoke and way too little flavor. It pains me to be so honest after so much anticipation but I'd be failing in writing this review if I said otherwise. The counter service was over the top wonderful and made a world of difference. she even offered to replace any of the items we didn't care for. We appreciated that gesture. Ambiance is trendy busy diner. We'll have to give this place another try to see how they progress.

Yelp
The food was delicious we ordered the chicken & rice soup, cole slaw, patty melt and Cesar chicken salad. The patty was season and cooked to perfection, so thickest patty melt yet! The french fries were.com and the Cole slaw has a lil kick to it The chicken Cesar salad had tasty lil anchovy crumbs that were delightful! My mother enjoyed her soup. The customer service was friendly and fast, we ordered at the counter and then sat out on the patio because it was a lovely day. The music and ambiance was a relaxing and upbeat, I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came for dinner and the food was great! Loved the lasagna, chicken, beef rib, blue corn bread. The NY strip, pork and peas were a close second. Need to come back for lunch!
